I guess if you really wanted to play the battle of umbara from the clone wars, this is the game for you
Lot of action there.
Someone provided some in-game video of this expansion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vBLX7MglY0
Microsoft has released the Dune Expansion, granting the ability to fly off-world for the first time in the history of MS Flight Simulator. In this video I'll demonstrate what the Ornithopter can do and show you what you get in the expansion.

Ah yes, the Vietnam of the Clone Wars.
Or possibly the Verdun or Passchendaele.
this game seems crazy cinematic
people have been calling that level "robot vietnam" lol
Lily?
Viva la Mexico!
'Tis true. Standing too close to an eagle airstrike and seeing your corpse get launched ~2000 meters away is a positively theatrical experience.

is herowars the best no wifi game for a long ride
There are tens of thousands of no wifi games
What platform are you on, just mobile?
Choose your Destiny! Right click, delete the game!
I have really enjoyed Vampire Survivors which is free on mobile
it's a bit slow to start out with but if you go into each run with one of the Unlocks as a goal to complete you will find there's lots to do
That legit tempts me, but I will probably wait for some sort of discount.
Nostalgia can wait
i mean for 30 dollars its super good
oh also
also weird
apparently there's not a button to just go straight back to the game selection menu
you have to close the game completely and re launch it
unless im just really dumb and not seeing it in the pause menu
wait it's not tank controls ?
Best of both worlds it seems
This bit is so funny to me
Was Lara Croft ever in any other game franchise that you have to specify this?
Were there any Tomb Raider games without her?
I don't think so
Lara Croft is like Indiana Jones right
well she did appear in cod, fort, and fall guys lol
but yeah outside of that i dont think she appeared in other game series that starred her
she's in Fortnite ?
that's cool
Lara Croft is very much not like Indiana Jones
oh i like the 25th anniversary one
She is Indiana Jones but he has a slutsona and she doesn't.
can you still get it
was battle pass only
Also he steal stuff to get them into museum, she steals them to get them into her personal collection.
her and raven from teen titans had been in the same battle pass lol
I mean in the reboot they make her appear more sympathetic, but in the originals she was kind of an asshole
damn lol
also yeah theyre both kinda similar to each other, but also vastly different
maybe they could still be friends or somethign
Yeah, like Superman and Harley Quinn
I will always remember the tutorial level for TR3
It's her huge mansion with a pool, and a huge aquarium that has a secret passage that you can go into to unlock an obstacle course for a quad
My only memory of Tomb Raider is when my aunt played that level
Also with a timed button you can run into a secret room with a bunch of artifacts she got in previous games
It was pretty fire
Look at this shit, this was so awesome at the time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sb8OBeZjH24

Game: Tomb Raider III - Adventures of Lara Croft
Platform: PC
Year: 1998
Developer: Core Design
Publisher: Eidos Interactive
Also french language for some reason, doesn't matter
this is like Peach's Castle or something lol
the Tomb Raider collection has all 3 of the original games, and their cut content as a bonus mode or w/e
oh wait
its the expansion things each game had
At the time this game had no expansions
It came in a CD Rom to a console not connected to the internet
Tomb Raider II: Golden Mask (North American title: Tomb Raider II Gold) is an expanded version of Tomb Raider II released in 1999 for Windows and Macintosh. The game comprises the scenarios of the original game with the addition of five new bonus levels in a separate mini-adventure entitled the "Golden Mask". Unlike the other two expanded games however, this contains no story ties to its corresponding game from the main Tomb Raider series: its plot is completely unique.
Oh ok an expanded version, I assume a standalone version, interesting
Like the PS1 didn't install the title on an hard drive, it didn't have one, it run the whole game from the disk
Oh it was specifically only for windows and mac
Interesting, my bet is that basically almost none must have played this, it's a good value add to include in the remaster for sure
Yeah

I'm no huge fan of Tomb Raider but it's still fun seeing how the remaster does things, where it improves things and where it may cause some issues, but overall this seems like a huge win for Tomb Raider fans especially any fans who weren't into the reboot timeline and wanted more of this
They even retroactively added some stuff from subsequent Tomb Raider games back into the first one which is pretty nice
You can switch into the original at any point even in cutscenes so if there's people that just want to play the original original game and not the remastered version they can just do that which is really nice
Also for those that don't know
The first game is actually really, really fucking weird
Like towards the end you get into ||wall of flesh dungeons, and actual otherworldly monsters|| levels of weird
that's awesome
And you fight the Moon Lord
In the 3rd game you literally ||infiltrate area 51 and go aboard an UFO|| so it's not like later entries are perfectly normal, but the first one is especially weird
Lara didn't become one of the most badass female characters in gaming for no reason after all
why cant you date guys in Persona 5

Animal jam is an MMO simulator game that won a ton of awards
Head to #1207206173091299390 for more info
to be fair, it was AgentSparkle who posted this specific piece of misinformation (i.e. the 5-year old Silksong announcement without the date, implying it was new), not Blade28
aye, that's why i said Agent
oh I misread that
no worries
also Fair enough Sonic Maul, I had a quick look and it's not really my style. Have fun though
Aight
Misinformation?
Hollow Knight: Silksong is a conspiracy theory started by AgentSparkle
Dunno why that garnered so much attention when it’s false
Welp, nvm
well I wasn't gonna dwell on it but if we have to fully explain it
It’s still said to be under development for over 5 years
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollow_Knight:_Silksong
Sonic, we all know the status of Silksong, I'm trying to explain a thing that happened specifically in this channel
A few days ago AgentSparkle posted a tweet of Team Cherry announcing that there would be news about Sliksong on Valentine's Day. Without any context, implying this was new information. But it was a 5-year old tweet, so everyone was confused and skeptical for a bit until the source was provided.
and I'm still not sure what the point of Blade28's tweet is, since it appears to merely be restating this
Oh yeah, I was confused why it said "first look" but I did not actually try to investigate.
more broadly I think a lot of us are getting fed up with bad links/posts/articles in here
I don't mind an honest mistake, but Agent was straight up baiting with bad info.
yeah, it would be more reasonable if it wasn't a long-standing trend, mostly from the same handful of users

This video is not a very good one for it, but I can't find any better ones
It basically involves loading several instances of the same area in a row then unloading them at once, in a kind of stale reference manipulation trick. It's dependent on the audio of the last battle music you played.
About time you figured it out, Sony
Day 1 pc releases yes plz
The new FF7 remake exclusive period seems to be extremely short
So it might be the first title to be affected by this
why does the sony president appear to live in a white void?
Oh? How short? I hadn't seen news regarding that
I watched a video earlier that mentioned it, lemme find it
In the last state of play they had on screen "Not available on other formats until at least the 29 of may 2024"
Which is not to say that the port will be out on the 29 of may, that's up to Square if they want to do it, but as far as Sony cares that the date their exclysive period contract expires
Which is 3 months, pretty short as far as the usual sony thing
Maybe consoles are dying in general due to the mobile gaming aspect over-dominating. So the rumored PSP reboot might make more sense to them if they can steal a piece of the pie. But the math makes no sense because a portable gaming device is still a very niche category.
Meanwhile everyone has a smartphone because its a device that does more than one thing.
I'm pretty sure that consoles still have larger installed userbases than PC
Mobile crushes both, and these companies want the size of Mobile.
Unrealistic but its a reason why MS wanted Activision.
That sweet sweet king.
Yeah but I don't think it means that consoles are dying
It's kind of a completely different format
And it doesn't seem like the console sales are slowing down either
I think they are due to being a machine that loses money but makes it up through services and game sales.
I just feel like Microsoft’s move is actually starting to affect Sony in a very unique way.
Having control of the ecosystem seems to be pretty powerful, I wish it went the way of the dodo but I kind of doubt it'll happen
I mean you can have control of the eco system if you provide the service.
Games stop mattering as long as you are subscribed to the company’s service monthly.
If both companies have their games, it pretty much becomes a duopoly.
I think i just saw an article saying that the sales wouldn't hit estimates this quarter, actually
PS5 actually did not sell well as everyone thought, meanwhile the Xbox didn’t even sell to begin with.
I think that Microsoft is sort of conceding and transitioning towards a more publisher role
No doubt they'll put out their box but I don't think it'll be as much of a core part of their offering anymore
I think that means that Sony don't have to fight as hard on that front which might be why they are becoming less strict with their exclusive periods.
And this makes more sense with GaaS format working with Mobile gaming.
Ehh, this is more of a long term objective.
Because it hurt their sales of the games when they go hard on exclusivuity and it's only worth it if it gets them a proportional advantage on a competitor
Never happening
Actually, you’re not gonna like my theory… but it makes more sense.
I bet that if they move, it'll be in at least 10 years and that's optimistic
I really don't see it
Yeah, and they want to stay closed.
The point of the a closed eco system is to not have to share the profits
Yep, but they’ll have to adapt once they see people aren’t buying their consoles in the future.
I would have to see it as I said, I would be very surprised
Unless somehow they do something ‘magical’.
I don't think people wont be buying consoles in the future is the thing
So far the trend on console sales has been steadly going upwards, before I see a future like that, I'd have to see a reversal of that trend first
I do, I seem more folks playing with their phones than consoles.
But hey that’s just my surroundings.
I hope I’m fucking wrong.
All the kids I know, play with their phones and have a console (or multiple) at home
I don't know many kids to be fair
But again, the Switch has sold record numbers, the PS5 isn't dragging behind the PS4 either, Sony struggled filling those orders for 2 years straight
kids play fortnite on ps4/5 i have a lot of references
every time I get killed by someone they have the playstation icon
i own a ps5 but only because i was able to get one for 450 dollars from a pawn shop a city over from me lol
and i had the extra money at the time
like its a neat console for sure, but i prefer the original xbox one way more
thats my main console right now
Hell even Steam is now making Switch-like consoles and they seem to be selling really well too.
It's true that more people are playing on their phone than ever, but it's also true that more people than ever are playing games in general.
I just am waiting for market saturation.
though usually i only play on my ps5 like once a week at most
the world around him is still loading, the SSD isn't catching up
He's CGI
His true form isn't comprehensible to humans, and can cause them great distress
we found this in the archive from the 80s, wonder if the number still works?
just another day on TF2… trying out the 100-player server
Only 1 spy?
spy is pretty bad when there are a lot of players, he melts like ice under sun
True, I haven't played in quite some time now.
I decided to stop playing after I started seeing repeated toxicity in games.
probably a good idea to mute voice chat in public, and also text chat
it's rarely ever useful
Barely.
Fair enough.
on certain maps 100 players just devolves into massive ww1 stalemates lol
the explosions never stop coming
I now have lethal company
1 kill/6 deaths so far, scout isn't ideal on this
But my TF2 days are in the past, I play BeamNG.drive and Lethal Company now.
Also bought Mudrunner cuz ive wanted it forever and i had enough to get it with my gift card
the only game I bought in 2024 is Lossless Scaling, and it's not a game
but it's on Steam nonetheless
I just got a $20 gift card and both games were on sale so i bought them with it
I bought a gift card just to get Lethal Company
My younger sister was like 4 cents off of being able to buy lethal company on steam😭
L
I think she might've convinced my dad to put some more money on her steam account so she could buy it tho
Gamer mulla
this is bringing my i9-13900K + RTX 4090 to its knees
I'm using a high-end config so it's kind of expected, but still
Oh my... that's a lot of centuries
Is that one of the 100 player servers?
Welp my sister bought lethal company
good game
Me and her are gonna play it when i get my pc which should only be a few weeks from now
A smash bros update just dropped, most likely just coding in future spirit events.
got the Tomb Raider collection and Arzette

Yeah, but I'm not about to be lied to twice.
What time today did they say Microsoft was supposed to talk about the future of Xbox?
Imagine they do nothing
And people ask "you said you were going to talk about the future of xbox"
"Yes exactly"
29 games? wtf
Tens of thousands of unannounced games are cancelled every month
What matters is how many people are affected, how much time has been spent, and how much money is wasted
This embracer miscalculation was really such a catastrophe
So sad, I was looking forward to many of the things they were planning
Disappointment and backstabbing for greed in the gaming industry once again? What else is new
I mean, this situation was caused by the fact that Embracer was counting on an investment that didn't come through
They aren't cutting jobs while reporting record profits
They legit don't have the money
I don't see what you mean with greed and backstabbing in this context
What backstabbing?
That's actually surprising then. I'm just so used to these bigger companies doing that just so they can preserve more money for essentially nothing and let a lot of people go. I take back what I said if these guys are actually struggling. Normally when you hear those stories, it usually comes from the huge companies that can easily pay the people it lets go, but decides not to because, like I mentioned, greed
It's still their fault for mismanaging the situation and causing a bunch of people to be laid off
But it's not a fun situation for anyone involved, Embracer included
I feel like I do also have to point out that layoff while in a profit state isn't necessarily only due to "greed"
True but they are definitely a lot less justifiable
Especially in the cases in which the companies don't try to at least offer a soft landing with decent severance packages
For sure it is usually just "yeah more moneh"
What game is everyone playing today?
good ol' pal world
I am either doing some ffxiv later, or start a Xcom 2 modded run
I’m playing Helldivers II
Does the modded run have pone?
I don't plan equine based shenanigans for the moment

Playing Crystal Project
That's usually what it's for and it disgusts me, but at least for once, it isn't because of that, but at the same time, if you have a company that doesn't know how to run themselves, then well, that's sadly what happens. Quantity doesn't equal quality in their case
Just out of curiosity, are you still working on Operation Valiant Enclosure, or have you redirected to fight the Automatons?
makin food, then ff14
At this rate is Embracer making anything?
Splatoon 3, then some Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, and then finally gonna continue Another Code: Recollection

I tried a bit of the Mario vs Donkey Kong game as the demo, and it's alright I guess, but I'm not sure if it's worth the money if it's short. I just went for A Hat In Time on PC instead lol
One day sure.
Elden ring, managed to convince my fiancée to coop since she finds the game too... somber and dark to play alone. However, we need to farm since we both did a mistake and dumped runes into boosting the wrong stats
Oooooh
I see you are on endwalker.
Im just tryna find some fellow helldiver bronys yk what im sayin
Yeah.
Thank you kindly. I'm regrettably not able to be on it very frequently, but if I manage to carve out a somewhat extended period of time for it soon I'll be sure to remember the offer.
epic
I heard that A Hat In Time has some insanely hard final achievements for achievement hunters. On that one, I'm just like, I think I'm gonna have the Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 mentality and not kill any leftover sanity I have for that lol
Finally took the hint people didnt want an online only game
Wake me up when co-op no longer depends on Starbreeze's servers
My opinion of the game would honestly 180
It's giving: speed 🏎️
Grab Dakar Desert Rally for FREE this week! https://epic.gm/freegames
Now if only other companies would figure this out with their games, but I doubt that's gonna happen. It was only because of extensive fan backlash that they even decided to make an offline mode with this game to begin with. Suicide Squad, I'm looking at you
Helldivers 2 studio boss says it will 'never' add PVP, and for anyone looking for it 'I recommend Tarkov'. https://trib.al/I2gCI6G
Tarkov is fun
Tarkov I feel like is about to go to shit though because of those microtransactions. Now, while that may seem common, the things I read about that they're monetizing is just so damn unnecessary
Will probably be P2W now
Yeah, gat was one of them actually. Extra space for storage I think. Something like that. So yeah. One is pay to win, and the other is literally a practice co-op mode put behind a pay wall
And probably some attachments that will be more powerful than the base game.
Who knows. It's a damn shame. I heard nothing but good about it, but I definitely have a feeling that backlash is gonna come from that
https://fxtwitter.com/sonic_hedgehog/status/1758196969808544072? @green fulcrum
To celebrate the announcement of Sonic x Shadow Generations, a new Shadow the Hedgehog costume is available in Sonic Superstars! Download it for free today!
That makes sense, I feel. I'm of the opinion that just about anything can work if it's done right, but a dedicated PvP mode would probably feel rather out of place in a game like Helldivers.
Besides, if this past week is anything to go by, even when they're supposed to be fighting Terminids and Automatons, players find ways to kill each other rather efficiently anyway.
heh, the yuzu Discord I am on is in shambles right now since it doesn't work at all there… so people will stay on 13.0.1
I think this has been the longest timespan between two patches?
Okay, Helldivers 2 studio boss got place in hell after this
Recomend Tarkov...
You know, there are already buy the most deluxe edition to win

Because in other way, you will spend 9999999999 times in inventory managment
Because you have more stuff on every wipe
Like Tarkov is one of the best concepts in videogames
But developer studio is fucking trash
I guess they figured $100 for the top edition of their game from millions of people wasn't enough because of course
Yeah, living on Cyprus/Maldives/Put everything else and consuming drugs everyday is costly
And BattleState games isn't a public company
So they didn't have make more money every fucking day because shareholders
Only Gaijin and Wargaming are worse
Free game on Epic this week is Dakar Desert Rally, next week is classic Fallout.
I was going to show you that.
Which is funny, since fallout was free last month on prime. Still available if you have prime, I think. The other three are the new additions
prime has video games?
Gotta go through the Twitch page but yes
https://gaming.amazon.com/home if you have a prime sub
They also do ingame loot for some other GAAS games
Games, DLC, and sometimes items for gatchas.
I see
They have Destiny 2 stuff nearly every month
Amazon also has their own little launcher of sorts too, but it's only part of the games that appear on there. Otherwise the full games tend to be all over the place, EA play, Epic, GOG or Steam

if you mean doing every Death Wish including bonuses no P&T... then yeah, that'd be pure masochism
They do have an assist mode that apparently decreases the difficulty of the challenges

There actually haven't been that many things in the game that have made me wanna go nuts besides a couple of BS falls during rift challenges and also stealth. Fuck that shit lol
The biggest news was Xbox's confirmation that four games will indeed be going multi-platform. Spencer declined to name the games, saying only, "The teams that are building those games have announced plans that are not too far away. As we know, games teams put a lot of energy into their announcements and partners. So I don't wanna take anything away from those teams, so I won't be talking about the titles specifically, but I think when they come out, it'll make sense." ```
( The Verge reports that they will be Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded.)
"The update also confirmed that Diablo 4 will be coming to Game Pass on March 28,"
" In a town hall meeting with Xbox employees, Spencer reaffirmed that Xbox would continue to make hardware going forward, seeking to alleviate concerns that Microsoft plans to get out of the console business altogether"
you're probably thinking of Peace & Tranquility, which is why I specified "no P&T"
(I've only finished Seal the Deal with P&T on)
SMH not bringing Redfall
Hi-fi rush is a good fit
Pentiment is very good, from what I know. Deckbuilding game that goes completely wild

From the creator of Pony Island and The Hex comes the latest mind melting, self-destructing love letter to video games. Inscryption is an inky black card-based odyssey that blends the deckbuilding roguelike, escape-room style puzzles, and psychological horror into a blood-laced smoothie. Darker still are the secrets inscrybed upon the cards...In...
$19.99
98405
Also reportedly Pentiment didn't sell that well so it's good it's getting another chance to shine
Inscyption is epic
Having watched a youtuber play it fully, I would describe it as Slay the Spire and Undertale had a baby
Inscription is also really good, yes
overall Pentiment is pretty good though I found certain aspects of the story disappointing near the end
zero complaints with Hi-Fi Rush, you've all heard the hype and it does live up to it (assuming of course that a rhythm-based spectacle fighter sounds like it might be your kind of game)
Added "Play All Music" to Music Archive. When activated, all unlocked music tracks will be looped sequentially as a playlist.
Kind of a silly feature.
Normally the developer would share or sell the actual music, but in this case they do not have the rights to do that with it, so this allows people to play it from within the game
I still really hope that Hifi Rush gets the exposure and love it deserves for what it is. Also, any big news from the podcast yet? Lol
huh, I thought Hi-Fi Rush has been getting a lot of attention (for a non-AAA game)
I think they mean from a more mainstream audience
I've only heard of the game from "informed" players so to speak
Yeah inscryption is fun. Although im stuck in it
This bundle cost more than the actual game
<insert horse armor joke>
The horse looks cool but i would not spend $85 cad on it
"For this special promotion sacrifice your first born child and you'll get a free set of armor!"

Ngl, "Blood Harvest" sounds like a badass name for a metal band.
Khorne cares not for where the blood comes from, only that it flows.
Sir Justin the surfer wizard https://i.imgur.com/nPebetp.png
i havent even loaded up any ingame stuff yet and already im loving helldivers 2
The new Lara Croft will presumably debut in the next mainline game, Tomb Raider Next, which is currently being developed. https://bit.ly/3OHgDQc
It’s a brilliant game. Just remember friendly fire is always on
"Tomb Raider Next" is such a terrible name, good God...
I hope that's just a placeholder name
I want that game. Probably gonna get it on my pc
Probably is.
Next is a generic placeholder, it's very likely
Trackmania (2020) was codenamed TMNext for instance, it's all over the place if you open the game using modding tools
Wreckfest was also called Next Car Game in its early development days
untitled goose game was simply an untitled goose game till release
...wait

helldivers 2 is pretty fun! does ayone else here own it?
i mean anyone currently online and with some free time
im afraid its just gonna be like, a trend game
and that its playerbase is gonna vanish in a matter of weeks or months
I mean every coop game is to a decent extent
Helldivers 1 stayed strong all the way through tho
And that had a fraction of HD2 success on launch
🔴 ❓
duh
Do not push the button
I prefer 2 and 3
in that era of gaming the 2 and the 3 of almost every series were the better games, it was bizarrely consistent
(I played all of R&C 1-3)
I know, I'm just starting in order again
I don't have it but ill probably buy it
Future Trilogy (+1) for me. Crack In Time is so good.
I could not play those games
I never tried the games after 3
(no particular reason, I just wasn't in an R&C mood when 4 came out)
Deadlocked was fun
I played Tools of Destruction but not the others
and Deadlocked which was called Gladiator in here 🙂
recorded a combo file for it aswell, and optimised a tiny bit
Deadlocked is my favorite R&C game but its way too short tbh
A got my beard on some Vermintide Versus. So how is it?

it's also apparantly in the xbox game pass according to a friend

Well, that sounds terrifying swell. I haven't actually played an Automaton mission yet; looking forward to getting my skull caved in by a metallic fist whenever I get a chance.
...Ah. I just checked the galactic war map. It does seem like we're having a little trouble with these defense missions, doesn't it?
i tried them last night/this morning
they were quite overwhelming ngl
tho it was my second mission and i was solo
Sounds like a rough second mission.
What loadout/stratagems did you try it with?
it was my second mission, so guess
...Railgun with three hellbombs just in case the first two didn't work?
i havent unlocked anything
Yes, I figured. 'Twas intended to be a humorous response.
At any rate, most of the player base doesn't seem to be faring much better, even with more advanced stratagems. Have you played enough missions by now to tell how different the Automatons are to fight compared to the Terminids? That would probably help decipher what a proper strategy against them would be, in theory.
I've only ever fought the Terminids, myself, so I haven't the faintest clue how to go about things on these missions.
co-op hoard shooter with a starship troopers type theme with evenm ore comedy slapped on
HUH
The exact genre depends on which game you're talking about. The first one is a top-down isometric shooter, whereas the second one (the one that most people are talking about currently) is a third-person co-op shooter.
It's a satirical game in which players are soldiers of the "Federation of Super-Earth", a dystopian and militaristic future society that attempts to imperialize the entire Milky Way Galaxy in the name of spreading peace and democracy.
In short, it's the greatest democracy simulator this side of the galactic rim.
“Federation of Super Earth”
ore comedy you say?
Sign me the HELL up
it's gold, jerry, gold!
its pretty good tho i need to play more
preferably with friends to back me up
one of the objectives you have to complete is raising the flag of super earth
its a long-drawn out process with loud musing blaring the whole time
but moderated democracy must be defended!
I love the few comedy aspects of starship troopers, so if its basically that and over-exaggerated militaristic goofyness, then that sounds like a fun time!
That's pretty much exactly what it is.
No, actually. Not yet, at least.
The Helldivers that you play as are actually comparatively fragile; there's plenty of enemies that can kill you in just a few hits (or even one, sometimes). However, this is largely balanced by the fact that you are usually afforded enough firepower to practically crack a planet in half.
They are adding mech suits at an indeterminate point of time in the future, though, so that might appeal to you if that's the sort of thing that you're looking for.
“Super Citizen Status”

its the screen that shows up at the start of the game, before the tutorial
it's mostly a commentary on the fact that in novel, Starship Troopers, Powerarmor was a major part of the book and the 'troopers'
whereas in the film they weren't there at all
Just send in pinkie with the Twigun
Not patriot enough
I wonder if it changes if you are a “Super Citizen” lol
Ha. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only individual that was mildly disappointed in the lack of that particular bit of worldbuilding in the movie.
I was promised a legion of space marines wearing metal gorilla suits, darn it.
I believe that's why the drill serg calls them apes too
the movie and book were very different
the book was serious, the movie... wasnt
I haven't the faintest clue what this means, but I agree wholeheartedly.
the game is more based on the movie
pew pew
oh she;s not in this thread damnit
it does
The movie has a lot more in common with Steakley’s Armor than Starship Troopers, but who the hell has heard of Armor?
but they're less obnoxious
I hope its not pay to win.
The twilight Gatling gun where Pinkie uses her tail
The devs confirmed it’s not. The MTX are really cheap.
Well, I’ll put it on the wishlist for sure.
And wait for sale because I am broke atm.
completely understnadable
we need a good powerarmor game
i got it £10 off because of reasons
fallout 4
wait sorry you said "good"
what was that bioware game that failed?
Anthem.
yeah
Besides I’m still chewing through Voices of the Void, God of War, and Jedi Fallen Order.
If the setting as a whole appeals to you and you're looking for something a little cheaper, you might want to consider looking at Helldivers 1, as well.
It's obviously not as trendy as the sequel is, and it's a slightly different genre, to be sure. It's still active, though, and it's very fun.

Honestly I find it fortunate that From mostly seems to be not too disturbed by its parent company
But I am also always worried about the existence of their parent company
Especially since Kadokawa is...not a great company
This is such a genuinely cool skin...but the problem is that it really does not fit CoD at all. CoD has become far too insane in its lobbies and servers thanks to the skins, and it doesn't feel like you're playing CoD anymore.

JonTron also voiced a character in this game apparently
Tekken 8 is introducing microtransactions after release. This is why I don't buy games before development is done
They aren't the first to do this and won't be the last
One of the more sickening instances of this was when Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled got microtransactions put into it about a month into it's life after the positive reviews across the board had come out. I remember the YouTuber Caddicarus was pissed to say the least about that. These days, I wouldn't be surprised at all knowing all about what Activision is about nowadays, but back then, I was none the wiser personally
in this case its not particulary harmful, literaly just cosmetics in an already powerful as hell customisation system
microtransactions only should ever be cared about if they have active advantages for those who pay against those who dont, and in this case thats not happening since its literaly impossible
otherwise they just dont matter or are even healthy for the game since devs can get the money they need for development without harming the playerbase
Unrelated, I noticed a comment when I started the Death Wish challenges, one of the lines the demon dude said was "These aren't your average challenges. These are... Advanced challenges". I just smirked like
And then said God damn it lol
back when microtransactions were new, "it's fine if they're cosmetic" was the standard take because "pay to win" was the only form of harm we were familiar with at the time
but since then many games have managed to be highly exploitative despite technically only selling cosmetics, making it a lot harder to pin down what exactly makes a microtransaction acceptable
I typically find cosmetic microtransactions pretty bad and a harm in themselves.
I don't like them, especially in full priced games, but as long as they aren't in lootbox form I don't think they are that bad personally
The robots are winning: Helldivers 2 players are convinced those new planet defense missions are so difficult they must be bugged https://trib.al/EUaldEL
Didn't you post an article about the exact same thing like, 2 days ago?

Did you read either of those articles?
Oh that.
Please make sure it's something you want to talk about and are interested in when you share something here.
We appreciate the topic injections, they do live up chat, but also this shouldn't be a sort of newsletter channel
Oh right.
especially with all the lazy/inaccurate/misleading reporting out there these days, it's important to not blindly repost things just because they sound vaguely interesting
Well I am interested in it. It’s a game I like now Hopfully it gets a lot of content.
ah, so you're playing Helldivers 2?

how hard were those missions for you?
How is matchmaking? I'm always worried in those games that are on the dififcult side for it to become toxic
Well it starts off on the basic difficulty and you unlock them with each mission you do
At launch the servers weren’t good but they are improving them.
I more mean the people you meet, are they assholes, are they chill?
Oh. I haven’t had anyone yet that’s shot me just for fun. Yet
On the highest setting they spawn the biggest enemies.
Tiny Rogues
Helldivers 2 is fucking great
I was up at 5am playing missions
The servers were bugged and I wasn't getting any rewards but I also didnt care
There’s 50% extra XP right now
...yes I was there
I know uts a temp thing while they're having unbelievable server load lol

How in the name of god have I spent 124 hours on Anno 1800 already?
I've only finished the campaign like 3 times! /j
in all seriousness though it is astounding that I already have that much time
I need to play more anno 1800
It just had a lot of features I found weird, like if you want more productivity out of your clay pits you need to increase working hours
But I have a labour excess
Would rather just hire another shift of workers
Malching's rocking my ass
I have a decent navy but it cant be everywhere at once
Cant even afford harbour defenses because im low on influence
Wait, there are working hours?
And shifts?
There was when I played? Maybe they got patched into different mechanics
Maybe it doesnt exist on console
It was on launch when I tried
Well as far as i know theres only working conditions
You can improve them for more happiness at the cost of less productivity and vice versa
Oooh yeah thats what I was probably thinking of
Which, like I said, would rather hire more people as a system than that
Just seems cruel
Also, you can fit the weirdest shit in your ships
Once fit an entire harbour half the size of the ship into it
Lol
Hell you can even fit it inside a schooner
In 2070 you can build a dam and put it on a boat
A whole hydroelectric dam
Lol
Mega what’s the highest setting you’ve done so far on Helldivers?
Also, it is inevitable that a ship is named after an mlp character in a way
6 for me
Helldivers1 was a much different game than helldivers2
I should check out HD2 sometime
But there’s sooo many games and so little time

It’s good you’ll enjoy it
It's fun, innit
I finally pulled the alt art kightmare unicorn.
the gameplay is legit just fun
its simple, the humour is on point
plus i think pve coop hoard shooters are the current vogue
Yeah, those were... rather rough.
Despite that, though, we somehow managed to take Ubanea. Not only that, we actually seem to be holding it, despite the fact that it's located right at the heart of Automaton-controlled space.
I'm not sure what it's going to look like if we have one of our planets right in the middle of enemy territory, but with any luck we'll be able to use Ubanea as a springboard to launch attacks on the rest of the planets in the sector to see if that affects anything in the wider war effort.
also i logged on this morning and got all the resources i earned playing to 5am
so yay!
but it's expensive!
its £34 which is about right for a "AA" game
whcih it is
It wouldn’t surprise me if they change it a little. Like maybe lower the health or less of them
i found the missions hard on trivial
but with a team of three or 4 thay're doable
..0n trivial dificulty
If anyone wants to try it now is the time https://fxtwitter.com/playstation/status/1758929310273216790?
This weekend: Helldive into online multiplayer, no PlayStation Plus membership required.
Available today through tomorrow, February 18.
Ha; I absolutely had a similar experience at first. I tried to solo my first evac mission on easy, and I got melted in a matter of minutes.
After some experimentation, though, I found the missions to be largely doable on medium, provided you had both a full team to work with and decent equipment. A few discoveries that significantly helped me out were:
1): The marksman rifle from the basic warbond seems to be one of the most effective near-starter weapons against Automatons. It takes a little while to terminate the bulky ones, but the smaller ones often go down with one hit, and it deals consistent damage to the bigger ones.
2): Spamming civilians is actually a viable strategy, at least on the difficulties that I was playing on. The Automatons will often split their attention between the civilians that are being evacuated, and they often won't be able to take all of them out. This does raise some ethical questions, but they can be easily dismissed when you think of the greater good of the spread of peace and democracy.
oh of course spamming civilians is the strat
if they're not travelling then the mission doesnt progress at all
This is true. I suppose I should have phrased that more along the lines of "using the civilians as bait and letting them take fire for you actually works more than it probably should."

The tweet right under it is great too
Plucky indie devs hitting a slam dunk and scrambling trying to make a game a game they never thought would be so successful work, better be a genre of movie in the late 2020s
I've been noticing that a lot lately. Palworld, Hell Divers 2, Lethal Company, Among Us, and even BG3 to a smaller extent.
I'd say Larian is a fair bit bigger than a "pluckie indie", but I get what you mean~
Technically, by industry standards, they are still considered Indie, which is why soooooooooo many AAA devs were salty af when BG3 swept the Game Awards and when it rightly was praised for being a DAMN GOOD GAME, because it made them realize that they had become lazy and they didn't like it.
"This cannot be the industry standard!"
Yes. Yes it can be. And it should be. Just because it's a CRPG doesn't mean it cannot be the industry gold standard for what a game should be.
Indie devs all over the world immediately got the message and took note of BG3's success, and set out to completely destroy any argument AAA dev teams had regarding games.
I don't think they are considered indie by industry standards
Likely not anymore, but before BG3's release, yes they were.
The industry considers Dave the Diver as indie despite the fact it isn't, I feel like the size and budget of the game is a bigger factor than a publisher, for how counterintuitive that might be
hey @river veldt, the YOUTUBE ALGORITHM bestowed onto me a very small but very funny content creator. I don't know if you'll like it as much as I am, but I'm having a blast watching all of their videos. I really liked their Zelda dungeon 1 and 2 videos. But, I'm pinging you with this one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dx1KUKbNgq8
Some Heroes are born, others Wahoo.
#supermariobros #supermario #westzone #mario #luigi #nes #classicgaming
their previous big game (DOS2) was a pretty big release, not exactly something I'd consider indie, more like AA
even smaller studios like Croteam are not exactly indie in my book
I like using this definition personally, which I borrowed from suggested player counts for maps on a community website for some game:
In terms of full-time equivalents, an indie studio is…
- small: 1-4 people
- medium: 5-8 people
- large: 9-15 people
- huge: 16-32 people
- superscalar: more than 32 people 🙂
the overwhelming majority of indie games released on Steam are made by studios with less than 5 FTEs after all
While it was a "big" release, D:OS2 was still very niche at the time, so it didn't get nearly as much attention. They were still very much an indie studio at the time, making games for a select few amount of people.
For BG3 though, it was different. They had backing from a multi-billion dollar company, they were using an IP that millions around the world have played, their advertising campaign was HUGE, their budget had increased and allowed them to create better assets and a much bigger world, etc. It was night and day compared to D:OS2.
Oh, not to mention that it was a third entry into one of the most beloved CRPG IPs of all time.
yeah, I agree D:OS2 was a non-mainstream game that managed to find somewhat of a mainstream audience somehow
proto-BG3 if you prefer 🙂

They had the license from wizards but the funding was themselves, from what I've read. And the development was like 400 people to make BG3 so it's definitely not an indie scale project
@annacwebs Small detail: I believe it’s publicly known that WOTC didn’t fund BG3. We paid for the privilege of creating a game with this IP.
Good call! D:OS 2 is extremely good, and I honestly consider its combat to be far superior to BG3. It is, however, a bit shorter and smaller in scale, although still pretty huge.
Shouldnt take more than an hour
Suuure, Namco
Yes. Although the "ranger" as a starting class doesn't really mean much, it just changes what equipment and spells you start off with. Just make sure that whatever class you pick for your main character, it's a "green" class, which gives early access to the Huntsman spells/skills. Also, as soon as you can, get the First Aid skill, as well as the Tactical Retreat skill, Barrage skill, and Sky Shot skill. These four are essential for any ranged build. All the others are still excellent skills to have, but these four are absolutely necessary (but you really should try to get all of them).
As another tip, get a few levels in the Warfare trait at the start as well, and then pick up the Phoenix Dive skill. This, coupled with the Tactical Retreat skill, will allow your ranged character to jump MASSIVE distances twice in a single turn, allowing them to very quickly establish an almost unparalleled sniping position (vertical height increases ranged attack damage), and allow them to quickly bail out if said position becomes compromised.
If someone played BG3 and it was difficult to understand what they talk about is DOS easier or the same?
D:OS 2 plays similar overall, but has very different combat and NPC encounters. There are no dice rolls, and the skill checks can be a bit trickier since you don't actually know what DC you have to pass from the start, unlike in BG3 where it tells you what number you have to beat, so it's important to save often.
Overall I'd say that D:OS 2 is much easier to understand, but MUCH harder to play. BG3's hardest difficulty is nowhere near as difficult as D:OS 2's hardest difficulty. D:OS 2 can and will kick your ass, even on normal, in many, many, MANY ways.
BG3 made me feel so dumb but I was always very good in games
I finished a lot of games
BG3's system is based on the tabletop D&D system, which can be very complex for newcomers, and can still be complex even for veterans. D:OS 2, on the other hand, is more straight-forward in its design.
Dark Souls & Elden Ring: …
I think I could beat these games if I tried if there's no talking
But D:OS 2's gameplay is also much harder because, unlike in D&D, the enemies have no qualms with playing absolutely f*cking dirty, and combo spells on the same turn like nobody's business. They will make it rain water to make everything wet, then curse that water, then cause people to bleed so that the water turns to blood, and the curse turns it into cursed blood, and then they'll electrify that cursed blood to absolutely eviscerate your guts, and THEN they'll jump several hundred meters away like cowards while your characters basically explode.
So I guess BG3 is easier
In terms of combat, yes.
Very much so.
You miss a lot more, and the actual combat system of BG3 is much more complex, but it is much easier to win than D:OS 2's absolutely brutal fights.
Have you finished them?
I have finished D:OS 2, yes. It was a very tough but very rewarding and exhilarating experience, but I'll warn you all now, you will die a lot. Be prepared to spend hundreds of thousands of gold on revival scrolls if you forgot to save before a fight.
The most difficult game I ever finished was Myst
I have not finished BG3, but that is because I had been waiting for the devs to stabilize Act 3 (which they eventually did). Plus, my computer's storage was a bit low.
I went with the wayfarer class and elf race
It was a game that my dad played and talked about with friends and I finished it by myself
It's super old you probably never heard of it but it was on Game Pass
Wayfarer isn't too bad, although personally I would've gone with ranger so that you get Peace of Mind, which can help with dealing with some nasty status effects. Still though, the wayfarer's Fossil Strike skill isn't too bad for early game crowd control and mid-to-late game boss-killing, and coupled with fire can do some pretty devastating damage.
I played a Myst when it was new
What year was it??
Myst is an awesome game series, although I will never play Myst 5 because of how they absolutely butchered the puzzles, story, and world.
Series?
Yes. There was Myst (the original, has been remade about half a dozen times), then Riven: The Sequel to Myst (the best and hardest game in the series), then Myst 3: Exile (coolest worlds to explore), then Myst 4: Revelation (best soundtrack and best graphics, but terrible voice acting), and then Myst 5: End of Ages (absolute hot garbage, don't play it). There was also Uru: Ages Beyond Myst, which was a short-lived MMO that I don't think works anymore.
Uru was a singleplayer game
Oh
Are the other ones more difficult?
Could've sworn there was an MMO
Well I only played it for like half an hour
A good puzzle game is challenging, rather than difficult.
Yes but if I finished first one maybe I can try the next one
Riven is extremely difficult, and you will be wracking your brain with some of the puzzles. Myst 3 is sometimes easy but sometimes hard, so it's a nice challenge. Myst 4 is very easy, but the puzzles can still be pretty clever sometimes.
Would you say first one is difficult or not
A lot of difficult puzzle games are difficult because they are obtuse and provide too little information
My character reacted to a murder in shock after i killed a guard in the tutorial area
The first one is hard to say, really. The original game (the first release) was pretty difficult, but a lot of the puzzles these days aren't as difficult as they once were (except for that maze, f*ck that thing with a chainsaw). With subsequent releases and remakes, the puzzles got somewhat easier since you were able to see more than you were able to in the original game.
Overall though, the first game can still be pretty challenging if you're like me and get lost in all the details easily.
Oh right, D:OS 2 has some pretty dark humor sometimes. Be prepared to laugh, because you will be laughing.
"Don' o'en th' ches'!"
"Nah! Is safe! O'en i'!"
(If you know, you know.)
I like dark humor
You'll fit right in then
If you really like dark humor, recruit Fane and The Red Prince (which you should do anyway because they are awesome and fulfill the black mage and fighter classes perfectly). Those guys are hilarious.
I just met the red prince and now hes saying im his slave
Wow okay that old lady just caused an explosion and disappeared
I got off the ship! I think im gonna end it there for today
the game is pretty fun!
Did you know: In Animal Jam you can apparently play as your own pet if you have one
I actually like the game a lot more now
improving more in 7k
im pretty confident ill keep playing with pinkie instead of thumb for the rest of time p much
#manechat message
I've personally played 1-3, and within ^that context, Myst 2/Riven's probably the hardest by a small margin, though none of the 3 are to be underestimated, and ultimately they're similar enough that difficulty comes down to what kinds of puzzles the individual player is expecting / finds more intuitive
Anypony has Xbox Wireless Headset??
i use a wired headset
Official Xbox?

No
I always used wired and always after some time problems with cable I'm tired of wires
I fully agree that wires are a hassle
However, wireless peripherals tend to suffer from performance issues, so I usually tend to stick with wired (but it's just a matter of preference)
What's this game ?
Tiny Rogues
People are loving the look of Tiny Rogues
My wired headsets ALWAYS break they crackle
Mine doesn't
If you're clumsy and tend to break cables a wireless headset is for you
I don't think I'm clumsy I don't drop phone or controllers
But often plug in and out maybe that's why
Because I put in only when someone wants to talk when playing
You can put the headset to the side
And I ride my chair forward and backwards
I'm going to have xbox wireless headset on Tuesday
Have fun
I think it will be okay because there is no wire to break
With my wireless controller, I have to make sure my leg does not block the way to the Bluetooth receiver or else it breaks the signal
When I leave phone and have earbud I sometimes have to tilt my head to my room 🌟🌟
Do you have one of those computer chairs with the wheels on the bottom?
Those are always tempting to roll around in. Trust me, I know lol
i just finished playing the pacific drive demo. its pretty fun
Lol
I have this excuse way less often since I upgraded my CPU
RIP
bitch this thing don't even have games yet
Doesn't it have a bunch of exclusives, God of war, spiderman, etc? or are there less than it seems?
it has a good solid 5 games
Is the rest of the library just older titles or ?
IIRC playstation store has a pretty deep library
Guess there was rights issue
mm, though let me see if i can find some sales data somewhere, As far as I know, PS5 has been selling pretty well
I'm kinda glad exclusives are becoming less common
especially with both XBOX and SONY announcing cross platform releases to come
. According to Ampere Analysis, the PS5 sold 22.5 million units this year while the Xbox Series X/S sold a combined 7.6 million
I suppose they think or see indicators of having their sales peak, and are focusing on future console development/alternative strategies of monetising exclusives.
Even without exclusives, the PS5 seems to have pretty good hardware, though not the awesome backwards compatibility of the Series X, at least, not to the same extent.
Given the ps4 has been supported so long, chances are the PS5 will remain relevant pretty long too
It does feel like the PS5 came out the day before yesterday because it came out immediatly post pandemic and the supply side problmes meant stocks were super low for like, a year...that said the PS4 lasted a good 7 years and we are like just past 3 for the 5, it does seem rather early to say it's in the later stage of its life
yeah, that's a good point
I was considering picking up a console, but the way you have to pay a premium for basic online services and the (At the time) slow uptake of cross play made the savings of the console seem not worth it.
Especially now that the GPU prices are "more reasonable" (higher than before, but like, not absurdly so)
yeah, november 2020 according to the wiki
Yeah. For like 2 years it was basically impossible to get the new consoles because of scalpers
I got mine last year
And since the sony boss says he wants to bring stuff to more platforms/be more on PC... best platform will be PC :X
Months is better than multiple years
Forbidden west: February 18, 2022 PS5. March 21st 2024 PC

Despite me getting it last year, the only game I've played on it is Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. I 100% finished and platinum trophied that game. Definitely worth doing. I also have Spiderman 2, but my lazy ass hasn't gotten around to playing it yet lol
yeah fair enough! Hope you enjoy it too when ya get to it
insert Spongebob time card here
I already had Fallout on GOG, I guess it's not a bad thing for me
just in time for the Elden Ring DLC to come out on March 25th or so

GT7 on PC would be pretty interesting, but the game's always-on nature might make that not happen. I don't recall Sony putting an always-on live service game on PC after a PS5 exclusivity
Fromsoft threw cold water on that. It's being worked on but march isn't going to be the release date
Horizon's in luck for once 🙂
hopefully their PC launch won't be too rocky
Nixxes ports have historically been good on this aspect
Yus! I'm very looking forward to it
I think those are the biggest march releases
Between the Princess Peach game and the South Park game, my wallet is gonna wanna kick my ass lol
I've already bought like 3 games in a month, and I still have the princess peach game on the horizon and ttyd remake in the future
money is scarce without a job. who knew?
I only have like $350 so as much as i want to buy games i also don't want to spend all my money especially when i don't have a job. So im sort of in the same boat
im so excited for Princess Peach Showtime
The only game coming out on that list that i want is Stalker 2
Maybe some others but idk
Oh and Pacific Drive
I played the demo of that earlier today and it was lots of fun

The world of Warhammer 40,000 collides with PowerWash Simulator in this collaboration trailer. Check out the trailer to see what to expect with this upcoming collaboration showcasing iconic Warhammer vehicles and more getting cleaned up! The Warhammer 40,000 pack will be available for PowerWash Simulator on February 27, 2024. PowerWash Simulator...
No, it's not april 1st.
Fuck, I really want to play this
a lot of people are probably going to buy power wash sim now just for the 40k crossover
I assume this is a DLC with a price on it
And not one of those free packs
Congrats on them for scoring the license
looking at their Steam page
Tomb Raider and Midgar were free ones
BTTF and Spongebob were $8 DLCs
so it could go either way, it's not listed yet
we should assume DLC
that is such a brilliant choice
... warhammer with an e rating sounds wrong
they should do Powerwash Simulator x Doom and you have to clean up all the blood and guts after a Doomguy rampage
I like 40k but I never thought it was an especially mature series.
lol i read that as 'Pawwash simulator' and now im picturing a VR dog washing game
