That's clean honestly
This months humble chocie
Can't say much about the rest, but LiS:TC was good. Not quite as awesome as #1 was, but infinitely better than 2
Dh2 is good if you enjoyed the first remake
Scorn isnt great. But if you can get it at $15 its acceptable since its only 4 hours
sees SCORN Ah yes, the Jerma game
Destroy All Humans 2 would be the only one I'd be interested in if I didn't already buy it around the time of it's initial Steam release lol

@fresh bane if you wanna tell capcom you want a remake or reboot of something now you can lol
To be absolutely and brutally honest that's the absolute opposite of what I want
Good choice. I should revisit this deck
All I could want is ports
Give me the games Capcom, I want to give you money so give me the games, the real ones
Heres what i put
I just want a dino crisis reboot lol
Dead rising would he alright too
I want more 1942 games, shoot em ups need to return to the mainstream
what if they listen to you, but they reboot old IPs as mobile games full of microtransactions
note that "shoot 'em ups" are a very different genre from the FPSs that used to be mainly WW2 shooters
Yes
1942 could work as a mobile or console port

Homeworld 3 reactions on forums seem mild - it's only showing the 'wargames' mode, which is a 3 player quick style of "roguelike' gameplay, as described by someone. Play 3 levels with two other people and the goal of each level is usually done within 10 minutes or so. You can also use random buffs for the rounds.
Controls are... weird. There's a definite steeper curve to get used to it, it doesn't play as smoothly as the previous games. Though the same reddit complaints said that after giving it several mode games, they got more used to it.
Some units (interceptors) don't fly as smoothly as they feel they should either, like bricks that spin around to keep fighting. That's the main issues I see, otherwise it does feel greatly like a Homeworld

Emphasising the sheer undertaking of a remake, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi said, while laughing, “If after we’ve finished the three games in the [Final Fantasy 7] remake trilogy, Mr. Kitase then comes to me and says, ‘Right, we're going to be remaking another numbered Final Fantasy game and you are on the project,’ I'll just turn around and go, ‘No!’”
And also “I think you may remember we had the Junction system in Final Fantasy 8,” he said. “And the thing about that system was the enemies levelled up in line with what the player’s level was. And obviously you had to then use the Junction system and how you customise that to overcome the challenge there. And I think it was a very difficult system for some people to get into. Depending on player skills, sometimes they just didn't work out the best way of doing it.
“So I think I'd want to return to that and really rework the battle system on [Final Fantasy 8] and make it something where that level of difficulty and approachability for some fans was a lot better balanced. So I think that's the thing I'd look at most if I was going to look at remaking it.”
I only like FF8 for the system though
(This is everything interesting in the article.)
flitter is the spirit of /r/SavedYouAClick
Thanks!
Agreed. But, I do feel that the battle system alienated a lot of players, and they didn't get to fully experience one of the best romance stories told by a video game. If changing the battle system would mean more people would experience the story, I'd take that trade.
I remember my buddy spending 4 hours leveling up, then going back to a boss fight and having no better luck and feeling let down. Looking back at it now, this is a huge problem for an RPG! One thing I like about RPGs is being able to overcome most things by grinding as a last resort. But that's a double edge gunblade I suppose.
I am a noted hater of story in videogames
Substitute setting for story in my rebuttal, then. Surely you agree that the world is ff8 is unlike anything else and something to behold. A military school that friggin flies and carries out mercenary missions in a futuristic place, but yet feels like it's in the past and oh yeah literally GODS will fight for you and be your friend or playing cards.... it's insane, and I loved it. I don't want people to miss out on that.
Sure, I guess it's cool and all
But
I really, really, really like it when gears click and turn in my head just the right way
true true
remember when the hot teacher lady got behind the big gun and shot the robot
That was so cool
Not as cool as when I beat the robot myself
Everyone was like "Run the fuck away! You cannot take this on your own!"
And for every time he caught up to you, you would be penalized in your final score a little bit
But if you beat him by yourself, you go a whole grade up
They had to put out an update for this game for New Game+ when Miles Morales came out with it? Bruh lol
note: for me this is every RPG if I'm not following a walkthrough
so if FF8's greatest sin is that being more true than usual, I'd probably enjoy playing it the same way I played 7 and 9
Ha. There you guys go. Doing something productive for once

So they’re killing the Xbox brand?
Or what?
Microsoft Game Pass just sounds more about shutting the Xbox division, and instead renaming the left overs with Microsoft. So Xbox Game Studios could turn into Microsoft Game Studios?
I mean, makes sense. It's a little weird that I use Xbox game pass on my pc
Welp, you had a good run Xbox.
It makes a whole lot of sense that they were selling Xbox Series X’s in December at astonishing low prices. And yet they weren’t selling somehow, at least in my area.
I don't think they are killing the Xbox brand
They are separating the gamepass brand from the Xbox brand
Which is different
My reading is that they will still want to sell the boxes, but they want to sell the game pass on more than just their boxes ideally, so they are calling it something different

loll that's awesome

@wind stump

So last night I watched a streamer watch through the FF7 direct thing and play the demo (if anyone is even remotely interested in FF7 for the love of god don't watch that it literally shows everything) and first of all, jesus christ we're barely in February and already there's like 3 JRPGs that look like they're all at least 100 hour long oh my god
but also, after seeing even just the demo of FF7R I have to ask, is this the most expensive game ever made?
Because the amount of polish the game has and the insane amounts of content it probably has makes me think this game must have a shit load of money, possibly the most money behind it
2023 was year of the RPG, 2024 is the year of JRPG
Also I think GTA 5 was the most expensive game? Possiby 6 now
My favorite JRPG of all time was released in 2023
Octopath 2?
Crystal Project
oh derp
Ah right, GTA
Well FF7R:R (jesus christ this acronym) has to be up there probably
it is quite an acronym
at least it's obvious and unambiguous, there's still no consensus on RE2R vs RE2RE vs RE2:R (much less what RE2 defaults to)
I still hate ''REmake''
I don't know why, I just do
(I'm watching an RE2 GDQ run)
I watched one from before the remake even came out and was pleasantly surprised to see that for most RE games speedruns are mostly glitchless entirely and it really is just you going as fast and optimally as you can possibly go
No weird skips or glitches or anything you just do it but quickly
this remake one also doesn't have anything glitchier than AI manip and maybe animation cancels (or whatever you call stair skating)
This. Is. AWESOME! So much minigame potential, and so much mobility potential too!
Oh.
So, apparently the wind charge as it is now really doesn't send you up that high if you use it on yourself.
Only about a block.
Still a cool attack, but I hope that future renditions of the item give us much higher jumps.
Oh wait! I just read that by throwing the wind charge at the ground while in mid-jump, it actually launch you anywhere from 7 to 10 blocks up, depending on your timing. That's cool!
Now we just need water and earth charges to complete the elements. :)

Microsoft is closing Toys for Bob studio's office location in California after laying off 86 people from the studio
It's not clear what the future of Toys for Bob looks like
(Source: https://www.sfchronicle.com/tech/article/tech-layoffs-microsoft-activision-blizzard-18651552.php)

jesus christmas

rip, no chance for another star control game now
That's closing an office, not the entire studio
figured it was synonymous but still
we had too much time for another star control anyways and never heard even a breath about it since the 90s
oh and i guess star control origins
but that wasnt made by toys for bob
Crash 4 and Spyro 4 should have had a demo password like with 3
That password thing was so fucking cool
Not necessarily - some studios will have multiple offices. From brief searching that i've done, it's closing the california office and the remaining workers are switching to remote work, with an office elsewhere still existing. In a financial sense, that's really good as CA is astronomically expensive place to live and work in. It absolutely sucks for the workers though
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jy4PB_LvdbE jeez, it's actually somehow even worse than we thought

publisher (not dev) asked the workers if they thought the game could be salvaged. Of 300 people, 20 said yes
Pushed back from March to May
That final polishing should have been done during the last push back. Folks need to admit that they can't reach the deadlines and give a true one versus the constant "a few more months".
Eventually, the EU will get tired of this game and will start charging folks, right or wrong.
Toys 4 Bob's office is reportedly closing, with layoffs indicating a possible studio closure.
The Activision studio developed the incredibly successful Skylanders series, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Crash Bandiccot N. Sane Trilogy, and Crash 4:

People are extremely bad at predicting schedules and almost invariably predict things will take less time than they actually do, regardless of industry. There is not actually anything special about video games in this respect.
I get that, but delay after delay after delay does have financial repercussions, as well as failed expectations. At some point, it is either there (finished or not) or it isn't, and people will get their money back in the latter cases.
The planned time of release for HW3 was the 2nd half of 2022 (project was announced and funded in 2017). It was pushed back to 1st half 2023, with a repeat in May 2023 to Feb 2024, once again in Dec 2023 to March 2024, and now yesterday/today to May 2024.
24ish months doesn't seem like a lot of time, but this is for a video game, not a multi-national mission to the moon/space where a concern requires a lot of work to be rechecked and done again. Part of the problem is that a lot of games didn't cook enough, came out to bad launches, and either failed or took years to recover. Delaying for polish or serious issues that popped up is acceptable, but repeated delays questions if it would have been done on time and right in the first place.
Wooo I actually finally did it
I actually beat BP with Dante
it only took 204 hours
I wanted to get a better look at the special taunt but unfortunately the hair is glitchy and looks black in some places, I assume maybe one of the mods is clashing with whatever texture/model the hair uses
it's fine though, I can live with that, here's a (hopefully) stylish freestyle combo
Crash, Spyro, boys, it was good to have you back, but it looks like you're gonna go join the likes of other dead franchises in heaven once more
Persona sale, about time
what about Reload
no female protag means huge L
naruhodo
I experienced P3P through Tale so the FeMC is canon for me
Ixrec do you know about the story behind why the female protag is often called Ham-ko in Japan
the real question is what color are we gettin this time
my money is on green persona
I don't know what color 1 and 2 were, if any
i feel like atlus is kinda tryin to pretend 1 n 2 dont wxist
from my understandin a lot of series staples stem from 3 anyway?
Green makes sense then, if they want to go spicy maybe purple
nope
It's funny
In the reveal, since you have to choose your protag name, they gave a super temporary name of "Shujinkou-ko(主人公子)"(quite literally translated into protag girl)
It's so sad they didn't keep the dual protagonist, we missed out on female Joker, we live in the worst timeline.
Since it is typical to have two kanji for surname and two for first name, it becomes 主人 公子
persona 6 n its better in every way buff persona 6 verdant
oh I see it now
fair
They always find a way to give characters a stupid nickname
Being a femc fan for p3r is a tiring wave between "its so over" to "we're so back"
In this case, hopium is back on the menu guys https://vxtwitter.com/ScrambledFaz/status/1755408318862881149?t=m8N3cT_M4N4n9rP0I8GoOg&s=19

@green fulcrum
Only one hero hits this hard. 👊 Watch the trailer for #Knuckles, a six-episode streaming event coming to #ParamountPlus April 26.
Y’know, first sonic movie was fun but that was it. Sequel was… uhh… meh? And this just looks rough.
Also a six episode series?
Why…
Most people I've talked to liked the second more
I guess it's popular enough that they want to make stuff while it's hot on peoples minds
I enjoyed both Sonic movies
Same
Well if Ixrec enjoys it, maybe I should try out the movie lol
i hear jim is the best part of those movies
which makes sense, because he's great on camera
Sonic 2 was pretty much all over the place, found it more irritating than anything.
But Jim obviously steals the show.
I feel like I’ll need to rewatch at some point because I do not remember anything anymore.
I thought knuckles was great too
Krafton Reveals Subnautica 2 Will Have Multiplayer, GAAS Model
https://insider-gaming.com/krafton-reveals-subnautica-2-will-have-multiplayer-gaas-model/
game as a service model.. for subnautica.
Pardon me?
This could have just been its own movie. I gotta watch the 2 movies because this was funny
The earnings report also mentions “enhanced replayability”. However, adding a Game-as-a-Service model might concern some longtime fans.
A GaaS model will allow Subnautica 2 to continue monetization after launch. It’s a strange new direction, and it could potentially put valuable content behind a paywall.
From the article blade linked
I suspect a PD2 thing, where folks with money will buy whatever to support and the rest either make do or find ways around it.
yeah, but it's so weird for a singleplayer typiclal title
The only game as a service model I accept is something like Guild Wars 1, where you make one purchase and that's enough to support the servers in perpetuity.
fair enough. I tried ESO because it seemed to be that way, but it wasn't actually like that.
You’ll enjoy them
Guild Wars 1 and 2 are a marvel of MMO engineering
FDev does a pretty good job with Elite Dangerous
Buy the game once and then you never have to pay again
but if you want to, you can buy Arx to buy cosmetics with, and purely only cosmetic items
you earn Arx for free just by playing the game, but buying them just gets you larger quantities of them faster, and helps support keeping the game servers alive.
fair enough Flitter, Lunar Aurora.
One caveat: If you want to play on the live version/with most of the real people, you'll need the latest expansion to do so. Not sure how Update 19 and the end of the Thargoid War will go.
I'm just glad to see new content coming out
All the "Elite is a dead game" doomers can stfu
we're even getting new ships this year
How often does it get new content lunar
We'll see if that happens. It wouldn't be the first time things get delayed or cut back. It is exciting to finally get new ships (variants though) for the first time since 2018.
Carrey's Eggman is definitely the best part of the first movie, for the second I could see a case for Knuckles
Again, this is true in basically every industry. Construction has a major issue with this, for instance. I can also think of tons of examples from my own projects and tasks, some of which are proportionally much worse (~months-long projects delayed for actual years)
Oh look, a fun dating sim is free now on epic games. This surely will not lead to trauma.
||It will. Play at your own risk. The warning when you start playing is not an exaggeration.||
DDLC?
Yeah
oh yeah thats free on EGS now lol
completely forgot about that because the disney stuff from yesterday
Wasn't DDLC always free? Or do you mean the Plus stuff?
pretty sure its always costed
oh lol
The original is free. The plus version costs money

The Korean-born disaster "security" program
Im like. If you gonna use drm (not that i agree with it). Just use denuvo or something
Oh hey, I'm just talking about DRM in another server
Dont use these random third parties that will probably brick stuff
YES
got Tirek and Rarity on Infinite Craft
just need to get fluttershy and sweetie belle and big mac
Nice
We do have a thread(post) for IC
oh lol
That game where you combine elements?
yeah
The thing is that it is actually a quite widely used "security program" in KR/JP...except that it is extremely notorious for being bad
If there's anything I lament about the current gaming landscape, it's that many games are only available for PC on Steam
With no DRM-free option
I have to see that monstrosity whenever I try to use bank
It is a horror
It is the horror
Banks are one place where you would actually want DRM
But what if i want to download all the cash in it for free
Steam DRM is optional! Games can be both exclusive to Steam and DRM-free.
See Starbound
in fact being hard to break is an explicit non-goal for it
The Steam DRM wrapper by itself is not an anti-piracy solution. The Steam DRM wrapper protects against extremely casual piracy (i.e. copying all game files to another computer) and has some obfuscation, but it is easily removed by a motivated attacker.
We suggest enhancing the value of legitimate copies of your game by using Steamworks features which won't work on non-legitimate copies (e.g. online multiplayer, achievements, leaderboards, trading cards, etc.).
Nerd
the bare minimum for Steam to not go fucking bankrupt, lmao
well, and indie devs
I like to think Steam offering this was a net good in that it means all devs below a certain size can "just use Stream DRM" (if they feel they need any at all) instead of having to choose between the various far more obnoxious and intrusive DRMs out there or gasp roll their own

Ideally they would do like GOG and basically forbid DRM, but this still is a pretty good outcome, relatively speaking
yeah, that move would've just forced a ton of games to other platforms and not helped the ecosystem
and it is true that the online-related features kinda require some form of DRM, if your game has any of them
There has been comments from Valve employees in the past that if by some 1 in a million chance that Steam were to ever go belly up, Valve has internal tools to strip the Steam DRM wrapper from every title that has it. Whether that's true or not, we may never know.
neat
it ain't true because it has no legal value 🙂
either way, we already have tools out there that can bypass Steam DRM, some of them are even open source and work with native Linux games
plus, at least personally, I haven't heard of anyone become unable to play a game they legally bought because of Steam DRM
Unless they lose their account for any reason
yeah, or extended offline periods
true, how long does the offline period have to be before that's an issue?
It is something you can verify by taking your computer offline
Starship Troopers / Helldivers 2 🍿
Ooh, armored core 6 on 30% sale
I recall it was 14 days
If you go to offline mode yourself I don't think there's a limit to how long you can be offline
Some games have DRM that causes them to stop working when they haven't been online for a while, but that's specific to the games
im XDing so hard rn,fucking DnF duel went on sale and its still 20$ idk in what world do they think that game is worth it for that much without dlc
New Steam feature!
See the grayed out sale icon?
It indicates you can buy a bundle (in which you already own some of the games) to get the single game in your wishlist for a lower price https://i.imgur.com/cNwgZV0.png
Though the price is broken. It should display like this https://i.imgur.com/rrPtl2F.png
That's cool
One of the achievements in the first game was a just a direct quotation from Starship Troopers, as well.
PFFF
I'd assume that's the ubi premium sub price, not on top of the sub
Yeah, the first price is for the full game if you don't have Premium. The $17.99 is what you'd essentially be paying for that game with the subscription per month along with a shit ton of other titles
The price for the full game should be eighteen dollars once.
That's more of a joke than AAA game releases right now lol

Day 1120 will be the day
Seeing so many artists having stories like these almost as soon as they start working on the industry and how they don't last that long working in whatever position they work in or at the company altogether is wild to me
Seems par for the course for AAA studios these days
Though blizz is def notorious for underpaying people fairly significantly
...we’d like to clarify:
* Early Access is not intended for release in 2024, but we plan to share a lot more information later this year!
* In reference to “Games-as-a-Service,” we simply plan to continually update the game for many years to come, just like the previous two Subnautica games. Think our Early Access update model, expanded. No season passes. No battle passes. No subscription.
* The game is not multiplayer-focused. Co-op will be an entirely optional way to play the game. You’ll be able to enjoy the game as a single-player.

Now that makes a lot more sense and is in line with their behavior
co-op subnautica!
the rest was to be expected from these guys
they've been pretty cool about such things historically
pay 5$ per leviathan vertebrae
Co-op subnautica?
Nobody needs to witness the noises that came out of me the first time I witnessed a leviathan and crab squids and all those other unholy creations

and i've finished the original game like 20 times
not finished the second one ever though

co-op Subnautica does sound appealing even to me
I think it's the Subnautica PR person making an error.
Whoever made the crab squid sounds needs like 8 raises
ive yet to see them but i love large monster designs so i wanna play subnautica just for that alone
you've not played subnautica???
only a tiny bit,i was in the process of switching PCs at the time and just didnt get back to it after

Paywall
almost as bad as when EA said loot boxes are just like Kinder eggs
This could bode well for one channel I follow that did a role-playing series on these games.
It's actually a perfectly valid argument they're making
Before you buy any virtual currency you have to agree to the terms which clearly indicate that this virtual currency is just for game-related ephemera.
Such terms are wrong and BS though
So don't agree to them and then give the company money
It would be nice if companies weren't allowed to brick games after selling them to you
I agree. In fact, any games with online functionalities should not be allowed to exist unless they also come with servers you can host yourself.
or at least make it so you can host your own servers after the developer has decided it's done supporting the game or hosting their own
That's what I said
I found the delivery of the story in subnautica 2 more interesting overall, but I didn't have the same fear/discovery aspect as I did with 1
I'm making the distinction between a game like tf2 that ships with server hosting functionality, and a hypothetical game that does not and relies on a central server, but releases server hosting functionality after the developer has decided it's not profitable enough to continue support
The problem is that this leaves too much room for abuse in the hands of the publishers
They can, for example, keep a central server up forever but after a certain point make it so bad to be on that no one can stand to play
Thus they can cheaply avoid having to release a self-hosted server, and players are forced to move to their newer games
It's sad that I could see that happening
I appreciate that the Overload devs anticipated this and released the server software with the game release, and then also have allowed modding of the client so it auto-connects to community servers now

Probably microsoft game pass
Rumor is their gonna start offering stuff for the ps5
Quadruple A. Thats rich
uhuh. 70 bucks on a Live Service title. which means it's like 110 AUD or something silly
so probably MTX everywhere with battlepasses
Watch it have NFTs or something stupid
I hope they learned from their last attempt at NFTs
I think they might've cooled off on NFTs. Square Enix on the other hand....
what's Squenix up to?
https://decrypt.co/206152/symbiogenesis-preview-everything-you-need-know-square-enix-nft-game
Having read this, it sounds like some kind of Super-Gacha hell
I still don't believe this is real
I mean we'll see what they are cooking, my prediction is that it'll never come out but I might be wrong
NFTs are beneficial to square as long as they are a nebulous buzzword they can repeat at shareholder meetings, the moment this comes out and flops the ruse is up, is what my current impression of the situation is.
but that would be SE being smart enough to understand this would flop so IDK, they haven't shown to be especially smart in later years
yeah no idea, I hope it doesn't get released because you know some folks are gonna get scammed by Square enix presenting NFTs as special goodies.
It honestly is kind of a shame that XDefiant, something that actually seems like it could take off really well, is gonna end up on Ubisoft Connect around these greedy fucks that don't know what the hell they're doing
What do you mean? I mean r6s is on Ubisoft connect and seems to be doing alright.
Playstation releasing another handheld would probably make the most sense to do, it would probably sell like mad like the PSP and PS Vita did, but with Microsoft, it feels like it would make no sense and contradict what it feels like they're trying to do right now, where it seems like they're trying to get rid of the Xbox brand as a whole, like that link that shows that they removed the Xbox Series and Xbox Game Pass logos from their site, and it's like, okay, so is this brand gonna be dying or... What?
Not sure what the intent is regarding XBOX branding being removed, maybe it's a confusion thing?
I know i certainly was surprised when I learnt that XBOX gamepass was on PC. so maybe the messaging there is being changed to be easier to understand, and opens up opportunites to promote in future areas
I have no idea. Microsoft has just been overall confusing lately, and that's why I'm looking at that post about the Xbox handheld confused like, okay, if they actually do release something like that, and that post turns out to be true to some extent, it makes no sense if Microsoft is still actively trying to slowly get rid of the Xbox brand
yeah indeed
Ubisoft's won't invest more in VR due to poor sales of Assassin's Creed Nexus VR. https://bit.ly/48aHB9R
"Ubisoft's". IGN, grammar lol
Eh. Fair enough its a niche market
Vendored it as soon as he left the dungeon.
what an ass
lol
respect tho
King shit
Well, to be fair, if it is just a "Diablo 2 Streamer" that is kind of an ass move but speedrunner I can kind of understand selling it
Amazing "luck" tho

After 5 years of service, we're hanging up the Dead Cells coat. We're extremely proud of our work on countless updates & DLC, but now it's time for something shiny and new, or maybe more than one thing 😏 More on that very soon...

Hey Dead Cells players 👋
We know ...
It is truly a dead cell now
everyone hates live service... yet nobody gives the anti-live service patriot the time of day... tragic
It doesn't even make sense. Why would he down three energy drinks every morning if he wasn't sponsored?
ive known people irl who drink them like soda
record was 8 in one day
this is fucked up
Nooo, don't put advertising in my media
Noo, don't take advertising out of my media
This is one example of advertising in media somehow adding to it
And it's not even the first time kojima has done this
MGS3 had Calorie Mate, MGS Peace Walker had an entire advertising campaign with Mountain Dew
Meet in between and rename it Creatures Energy Drink
This one was just really funny
Calorie Mate is my favorite part of Japan
It's so fucking boring and I resonate with it deep in my soul
Like
That would've been better
Holy shit I loved eating my geometric breakfast cuboids
"i want some MORE!"
Is this real or AI?
I can't believe we're at a point where people have to ask that lol
it's real
Calorie Mate is an item in the game and a food Snake can eat
Cyberpunk with mods... oi
holy
decided to do something I haven't had the opportunity to do for close to a decade; I decided to play thru punch out wii in 1 sitting; I have almost 0 experience with the title defense fights, so I feel I made pretty good pace all things considered
I'mma save DK for a rainy day of boredom tho
fair enough, hope you had fun
Not realistic enough need a 9-5 job mod

Right? It's jaw dropping

Talos Principle and the Witness are critically acclaimed best in genre
Fifteen dollar tier https://i.imgur.com/DCPH4Gp.png
Superliminal and Manifold Garden are some of my favorites
Talos is pretty good too
Witness is kinda all over the place and imo highly overrated
haven't played the others
The witness has a puzzle that takes a real life hour
I'm interested in Superliminal, Manifold Garden, Patrick's Parabox.
I've never heard of Patrick's Parabox, Taiji or The Pedestrian before but they all look like my kind of thing so I'm definitely buying the bundle
might take a bit to get to them since I just bought Lightmatter and Entropy Center the other day
oh boy, it's time for double-secret multi-account re-verification
One game that used mechanics similar to Patrick's Parabox is https://store.steampowered.com/app/330180/Pix_the_Cat/

An arcade game, not a puzzle game
this sounds kinda cool lol
It's great as long as you don't replay the game
well, it might be cool if you were doing puzzling for the whole hour; the thing Mega's referring to requires pressing a button and then waiting for a literal 40-something minutes before you can go finish the puzzle
granted I don't want to pick on that example because it's obscure post-game content that I never got anywhere close to in my playthrough
there is pretentious bullshit in that game I love, and other pretentious bullshit that is actually just plain bullshit lol
it reminds me of Startropics
I gotta show you the super secret ARG boss in Death's Gambit
in the original version of Startropics on NES, included in the box was a letter which is the one that the main character gets from his uncle at the beginning of the game. towards the end, you have to soak that physical letter in water so it'll give you a code or map or whatever so you can complete the game
I think that's just DRM
yeah it was probably just intended as a way to stop piracy but i still think it's neat
It is neat!
it's a neat idea
what did they do for the Virtual Console rerelease?
(never heard of startropics so can't comment on execution; back then gamers were more likely to read manuals so it might've worked out)
for VC iirc they put the letter in the actual game and you could do it digitaly
throws wii into the bath
nO
Do not pee in the bath
Does it do anything different for the lighting? Because it does somehow look a lot more true to life in a way
but the extreme reflections on the car makes me think of those 'realistic' GTA mods where they just put a bunch of reflections on everything and make the streets flooded to add reflective puddles
I've seen videos of path tracing on Cyberpunk that makes it look pretty incredible, lighting is easily the most important part when it comes to establishing a mood or just making your stuff look more realistic no matter how high res your textures are or how many polygons your models have
but I'd like to see anyone actually try and play the game like that
once upon a time, realism meant brown
today, realism means lighting even more dynamic than real life
RT Overdrive really is a gamechanger for Cyberpunk, it's demanding for a good reason
(also because without RT, Cyberpunk is hardly the best-looking game out there – it has lots of issues with objects seeming like they're floating)
but I'd like to see anyone actually try and play the game like that
I will for sure at some point, but only in 2077 when I have finished my Witcher 3 playthrough

RTgame?
2077 is when we'll have the hardware to play it at 120fps/4k rt overdrive
to play at native 4K120 FPS (without frame generation), we'd need hardware that is more than 6 times as fast as a RTX 4090
and also a CPU roughly 2× faster to handle that framerate without bottlenecks
this is the nice thing with raytraced games, they age very well as hardware keeps evolving. You bump the resolution, it bumps the total ray count per frame and leads to more accurate lighting. You bump the framerate, it throws more rays per second and therefore makes lighting converge faster
Quake 2 RTX in 1080p240 is feasible nowadays, it's quite the experience to see a raytraced game where lighting actually updates quickly
So in 2077, like I said
Honestly that kind of jank isn't really a big problem at all, but when models and textures look good but the lighting just isn't right it makes things look very uncanny, RE engine actually has a lot of the same issues going on where mid gameplay character models especially the player's can look very odd and uncanny due to the lighting outside of cutscenes and it can lead to stuff looking like this
Cyberpunk has a similar issue but instead it makes things look very weirdly lit and like they don't belong in the world, especially if we're talking anything that isn't directly in your face like npcs on the streets which tend to have lower poly models and a bit jankier animations that can look weird, the path tracing stuff really helps and it masks those weird animations and makes them feel more natural with just having the lighting be better
The hell is this doing on Disney plus
70% off. I'm kinda interested in the older Ys games
i dont get it
Honestly he said it best himself: If tinyBuild would just, get organized with their lore, it'd be a swell mystery to unravel
I'd watch 10 videos on Hello Neighbor lore if they had even a semblance of a cohesive narrative
Random question, does anyone here play Halo Infinite or has played it recently?
Since I just remembered it exists I was wondering how the game is doing now since I remember people had.. issues with it early on, last time I played was back in 2021 but since I didn't have a good enough computer at the time I stopped playing it pretty quickly but I'd be willing to check it out again and play it casually since... well it's free.99
(I guess I should clarify the multiplayer one not the main single player campaign game)
Not a player, but it's "existing". The problems it had and them not being fixed quite fast enough means that most who would have been interested to try have migrated to other things, and you mainly have the big fans. It seems okay at the moment though, from what i hear
I haven't opened the game for over a year so I don't know how much it has improved since around launch, but when I played multiplayer it put you in queue for a random gamemode you couldn't choose so you have to cross your fingers you get the one you want
Dang the single player is actually pretty good
I heard it's actually really good yes, unfortunately I'm just not that much into Halo
Not that I don't like it, I just missed that entire cultural phenomenon other than playing Halo CE on cyber cafes as a kid, the only one I actually played
So Infinite's multiplayer being free was a big draw for me at the time because I wanted to experience that Halo, well, experience
but unfortunately it didn't release in a great state
I guess I may just have to download it again and check for myself how it's like, pretty much just thought I'd take a peek and play it casually if I ever just wanna kill some time
Yeah there was many complaints not just for the release, for quite a few months it wasn't great which had a good chunk of the playerbase to stop playing because of the lack of updates
It could have changed in a positive way by now because I went past posts where people seemed happy about some recent updates
oh my god a 380
I want to play this game again but it's a bit scary but also super cool
ngl this armor is kinda cool
Holy shit that's insane
My dad just bought that today
If you go down the netrunner tree where you can activate overclocking, then spread a quickhack to nearby enemies... I had one 'mob boss' and her two goon bodyguards attack me. Overclocked, did one single suicide against her, it spread to her two goons immediately and they all died without me firing a shot
i did get this one
if you ever want to give the campaigns a try, I'd say Halo 3 is the best single player experience for a newcomer since it has two sequels' worth of polish, the additional enemies/weapons/etc from two games of content, and everyone agrees it's a peak of the series overall
Infinite's single player is... fine, just kind of underwhelming compared to any of 1 to 5
Halo Reach is also really good to play after playing the other games
oh yeah I keep forgetting about Reach
I personally think 2 is the best campaign
It's cheesy, corny and full of so many fun moments it's hard to beat
Plus the battle rifle is just broken
2 is my favorite main game but reach is my favorite overall
It's also held together with string and prayers
2 that is
I think reach is better programmed
I always debate if I want to go back and play the Halos
But it feels like a series that wouldn't hold up very well
Also applies to Borderlands
Given how much the FPS genre was iterated on
Honestly it really does? 1 is definitely dated but 2 onwards is great
Especially when playing co-op
IDK co-op is fun for certaing games but for games I experience for the story it sounds like an hassle to go with someone else
Like I happily co-op in Warframe, but I would never co-op the Divinity games or BG3, I am happy it exists but it's not my thing I've learned
In Moonshot, blend survival and tycoon gameplay in a 2027 space colonization race. Build rockets, lead a team, and be the first astronaut on the Moon since 1972. Navigate lunar landscapes with realistic, near-future technology. A thrilling, realistic space venture awaits!

Halo 2 was maybe one of the more ambitious but I feel it overreached / underpolished in several places, it's the one I've replayed the least of the main 5
I'd argue halo is a great game to play cooperative
It's easier as you have a companion to back you up and the story doesn't really get interrupted unless you're talking over them also talking
It's far better experience than playing bg3 with a full party, which I am currently experiencing to my dislike
plus most of the things 2 did really well, or not, were either done again or fixed by 3 lol
oh yeah the Halos are excellent co-op
The new era of John Madden begins.
I think this one heavily depends on what kinds of FPSs you personally like
at least for me, the Halos never got old, while even older shooters like the old Dooms and the Marathons never did that much for me when I tried them
Football.
plus, I think 3 is late enough in the series that it's largely devoid of the jank that 1 and maybe 2 could reasonably be accused of
there's definitely a few places in 1 where you can count the polygons or see the models being copy-pasted
I guess it's your expectation of an fps
It's not titanfall 2, it's not call of duty
Complex movement tech like sprinting wasn't a concept yet
There's no parkour
ironically Halo 4 and 5 have sprinting, and 5 is one of my favorites to replay because of all the movement options 1-4 don't have
everyone keeps saying that and unless it's a multiplayer thing I genuinely have no idea why
I heard the story was bad
well, except for all the people who say that because they never played them and just heard bad things
I never fully played 5 and 4 was only okay imo
halo 4 is okay but not as good as the bungie halos
Yeah
OOF
and I only bought at this price cause I expect it to keep creeping up
this card is 'mandatory' at 3 copies in decks that want to use it, so supply will dwindle fast
holy fuck didnt expect a max rank finish
Nice job!
pregnant pause
It's a real phrase
it's basically a pause that's a little bigger than expected, which ... makes sense from the phrase itself
probably one of the weirdest phrases i heard tbh
it's weird how metaphorical uses of "pregnant" have fallen out of fashion, normally it's the metaphorical meanings that get added over time
pregnant pause is the most persistent of those uses, but once upon a time you could say "pregnant with X" for all sorts of abstract Xs like meanings and feelings and ideas, and that was just normal usage

The last good one was HFTF
I cant decide what to play. Either Darktide to try and finish some more weekly missions before the reset Sunday evening, more Pokemon Crystal Clear (about to face Sabrina, gym 15/18), or doing my YGO dailies that I really should not be ignoring

And he wonders why he got banned
I think the only thing I can agree with in terms of what this dude is saying in this rant is that EA is a shit company still. BioWare on the other hand, I'm not exactly sure what things are like over there, so I can't really comment on that one. Besides that, yeah, this dude is a child lol

(it's more a machinima than a meme)
trying out Lossless Scaling's frame generation that works on any game, LSFG1. This is a 120 FPS video, so make sure to watch it on a 120 Hz display or greater if possible
(it's off-screen recording because it can't be recorded directly, not with good framepacing at least)
it's pretty good at converting 60 FPS to 120 FPS as shown here, not so much at 30 FPS to 60
I also toyed with AMD's Fluid Motion Frames but it's more restrictive in the games it can run on, and only runs on AMD GPUs. It also likes to turn itself off temporarily if too many things change on screen, something LSFG1 avoids
It feels odd watching it at 120 fps, like it feels too fast for that game. But good job!
My wrist can't lift that much
I'm kind of obsessed with this Ace Combat 7 video
Some context and also spoilers because this is basically the climax mission of the story.
||Basically like in every AC there is a big flying fortress to defeat and the war hinges on it happening, in this case it's Arsenal Bird which is unmanned and make use of unmanned drones to fight.||
||Another feature is this shield that makes it so it's impossible to attack it when it's active and it relies on being externally power by this facility that the lady in the comms is desperatily trying to sabotage to allow you to finally attack it.||
The way they timed the music and how damn good this dude playing is to time that ||post-stall manouver|| makes it such a perfect damn moment, that I watched this dozens of times and i got chills every time.

Only a couple of hours, also I was never very good at it
It's an insanely hard game but it has like three hours of content
I made a mod that makes it easier if you want to see the harder content but can't put in the effort
Thanks for the offer, I actually am not even sure how far I got, last I played was 2015
If I ever get back into it I'll make sure to let you know
Turns out the difficulty is super customizable
I can tune many numbers from how much health things have, how much damage they deal, how fast they shoot
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2's main story was completely fine to me, fully chill, car collecting and upgrading and whatnot, just plowing through the races, but I can confidently say that the end game of it can go fuck itself. It sticks expert level challenges in the way of 100% finishing the game, and some of the shit you're expected to do is just borderline nearly impossible. The elimination races at easy difficulty is fine still, but the ridiculous crap comes from the time trial times to beat and insane drift challenge goals (where one of them was 1.5 million for crying out loud). So yeah. Probably not gonna finish that as nice as that was considering I grew up with plenty of Hot Wheels and other toy cars like them as a kid, but I'm not losing my sanity over a damn game about these things just for 100% lol
I want to play a game where you play as dude with yellow paint and you have to guide player with it

pff I remember this game. Fun.
Viscera is great, haven't played it in ages
Buyanov needs more money. Selling 100$ edition to make game playable and sell Tarkov Arena as independent game isn't enough

That tagline is spittin
huh, interesting, will be neat to see
I still have a steam controller
same, and a steam link
huh
Any recommendations? I'm grabbing Plateup
Well, that game is probably about to head to greed hell
plate up is good, i'd play it with you if you wanted
Why
Makes money
That's an absurd price for what you are getting
Compared to POE cosmetics even, and that game is F2P
They should be selling you a new slider that has color customization for every model so I can finally make my neon genesis evangelion barbarian
To think, this all started because Bethesda wanted money for a horse armor skin.
Was tf2 hats before or after horse armour I wonder.
ahh yeah, makes sense
Though I suppose mobile gaming was always ahead of the grimy monetisation curve
Too young to understand this so I looked it up and... wow
To think a $2.50 horse armor dlc got mocked relentlessly back then and nowadays no one would bat an eye
Interesting piece of gaming history
I was never into the Elder Scrollses so the horse armor was just something I heard about from EVERYONE ELSE OH MY GOD
That's why I don't like it when people say "It's just cosmetics" or "The game is free to play so it's all right."
in retrospect it's pretty funny though
I mean, specifically that the big historical focal point was horse armor
the larger trend sucks obviously
Csgo skins were the original NFTs
Is this because of pricing of GaaS stuff or more the idea of MTX in general?
Yep. Really was the start of cosmetic microtransactions
Crazy how nowadays cod skin bundles can be anywhere from 10-20 $
Weapon skins being $5-$8 usually
Meanwhile, VALORANT out there selling 100$ for 1 skin for 1 gun.
it starts getting concerning to me when I start noticing that gamers will actually over time come around and start 'accepting' microtransactions in a way
Back when lootboxes and microtransactions were getting way out of control and it was all people talked about because of how predatory they were getting around like 2019ish, whenever Battlefront 2 had come out and people were talking about it, I remember some people would actually defend previous forms of microtransactions while getting outraged at the current more predatory ones, and it just made me realize that the whole plan these companies have of pretty much being like ''ah don't worry what they say now, they'll come around'' actually does work
Aka. The toad in boiling water analogy
Yeah, the analogy is not correct so I don't like to use it.
Oh
getting customers gradually used to things is a very powerful strategy for both good and evil
But the planned erosion of standards in what consumers will accept is real
sometimes the new thing is genuinely useful but people are confused or wary of it at first
...and then you think of what else in the world this strategy applies to
sometimes the new thing is shoving microtransactions in their face every five seconds
of course, that only keeps working because people are buying them
yeah like, why is CS2 so popular and so successful, even with all the years of anti-lootbox work by various parties, people just love crackign cases, and selling/buying skins on the steam marketplace
I suppose it's just like a casino business right?
Everyone know the house always wins, but people go there anyway
in a lot of cases they're just digital casinos slipping through loopholes in current legislation
It's sad to see gaming brought this low
some aspects of that should simply be made illegal, like the obfuscation of how much things really cost and a lot of the pressure tactics and predatory models and so on
the fundamental concept of a free to play game relying on cosmetic microtransactions can be a healthy one, especially for those genres where a single upfront payment doesn't make much sense, but it badly needs more limits
In fairness cd alot of skin casino stuff got cracked down by valve
lol are you joking?
The sites that were outside Valves control got cracked down on sure. but the base business of valve is a lottery system
The casino is CS2
not the s ites outside of it
mhm! And like, all the meta media around it supports it too. People make "cracking 1000 cs2 cases" videos and get 10 billion views.
Whereas a video on like, "hey these cases suck" gets like 10 lol
It also doesn't help that usually the audience for those videos is either kids/teenagers and or adults with a crippling addiction to gambling
An example of one particular model I hate when it comes to these microtransactions is how Capcom decided to do things in SF6 where you purchase in game currency with money instead of just directly paying for any DLC (here's where most people defend the prior form of microtransaction because the current one is worse), but it's not just that you have to purchase another currency with your money, the amounts you get are inconvenient to put it lightly, and it's made in a way that the lowest amount you can get is just too low but the next amount is probably too high, so you're probably gonna need to purchase the lowest one two times if you want to just get the one thing, but now you have this useless leftover currency that will go away in a set amount of days, so it's not even permanent currency
yikes.
yeah, no wonder I saw people complaining about sf6's monetization a while back
Tekkens "earn your clothing" system is so much cooler.
Though I've not looked in detail at T8 because I'm still learning T7
so it might have some insidious stuff somewhere, who knows
You don't even get colors in SF6 either, you have to purchase the basic character colors with another currency this one is not purchasable but you also can't really farm it in any way because you can only get this currency whenever the game will activate events to even allow you to get it at all
oh yeah that's so silly. Basic colours shouldn't be locked at all.
Hey nire, how do you go about learning a BnB combo? Just lab it out untill it's muscle memory?
Kinda, I'm still learning that stuff myself but ideally I like to teach myself at least one or two combinations that I know I can reliably perform and then the rest is just improvising and adjusting mid match
I only really lab stuff shortly because if I lab something too much I'm gonna be too focused on trying to nail down the combo during a match instead of actually paying attention to all the other things and play the game
ah yeah, that makes sense, thanks!
It's different for everybody so just find what works for you, a lot of people just love to spend 100 hours on the lab to perfect their stuff and other people just like to brute force it and learn during matches instead, I just happen to be in between those two
yeah, I'm just so unused to the controller and while it's better than KB+M for tekken in particular I don't have enough practice with it and the game to sort of lock in the button combinations/sequences yet
Just gonna have to put time in if I want to be able to pull them off
bruh
They don't need to pay anyone to do this.
That's actually scummy as shit, devs patching speedrunning skips is already pretty scummy because only speedrunners are exploiting those things but hosting this entire thing knowing what you're gonna do is just next level
Man it sucks that this game looks like it's actually good but it's tied to... this
atleast there is a monetary incentive to do it?
Patching speedrunning skips is not scummy. It's desirable
(With the exception of speedrunning tricks that normal people won't run into)
having the contest is cool
they could have done this without the contest by just watching a WR run?
Yeah
Nothing scummy about doing it this way
that is kinda scummy yeah
I don't like the idea of using speedrunners as QA testers, especially without informing them beforehand
Why do you think it's scummy?
They're not being used as QA testers. QA testers use specific testing methodologies.
it's kinda shooting the whole idea of speedrunning the game in the foot if you remove all the fun tricks you can do
literally intentionally having the contest to trick speedrunners into discovering skips, just so they can patch them just to completely kill off speedrunning the game completely
that is extremely scummy
Why do you think that's their intent?
because its ubisoft
They were still used to point out bugs they needed to fix.
Well, "needed"
Observing public player videos and fixing bugs they run into is something every game developer does because it makes the game better.
in this case it wasnt just public videos
it was them intentionally holding the contest just to patch them
essentially tricking the speedrunners
Yeah, but imagine they did not hold the contest
What would happen?
1- Speedrunners would find the tricks anyway.
2- Videos would be posted.
3- The tricks that cause problems for normal players will be patched.
I dunno, there's something about hosting a contest and then patching out all the bugs shown in that contest sits a little wrong with me
Would you rather they don't host the contest, or would you rather they patch the game then host the contest?
It's like
"Hey speedrunners! We like you!
Just kidding, we removed all the cool shit, thanks!"
I don't want this to set a precident, even if it means speedrunners get paid, because it feels a little ingenuine.
It does not set a precedent because this is already the norm!
they should have just left the skips in the game to begin with
so people could still have fun doing the skips that they liked doing
You mean, hosting contests and then patching out bugs?
that helped them with speedrunning
No, patching out bugs.
No I understand the bug thing, but hosting a contest first seems a bit counterproductive to community relations.
Like, if they were game breakingly bad, sure (and probably should have been picked up in QA but eh) but stuff that makes a full game speedrun more entertaining should be fine. imo.
Yeah, did they patch every bug the speedrunners found, or only ones that were detrimental to the experience of normal players?
pretty sure it was all of them
is anyone in this conversation actually playing the new PoP and is familiar with the severity of the specific bugs that were patched?
Why are you sure it's all of them?
I'm not sure, I'm just going off of "Hosting a speedrun, and then locking out those tricks used in that contest."
Like I guess you could find a workaround by downpatching your version of your game but I dunno how you'd do that with Ubi's launcher requirements.
No developer EVER patches every bug
... You have a point, lmao.
I thought this said "Shark if you don't think"
I don't like Ubisoft, and I'm boycotting them
But I don't think they did anything wrong here.
Just different perspectives, I guess.
I feel it's a little underhanded to host a speedrun competition and then patch out the tricks used in said speedruns, but I'm not going to make a fuss about it.
Did they do that with intention to deceive people?
Speedrunners got paid, bugs got patched, everyone wins, basically.
Probably not, I think I am just a tad defensive of preserving speedrun techniques if they don't break the game for casual players
See the BLJ in Mario 64 for instance
The BLJ is fine to preserve because it does not impact regular players negatively.
Some developers go above and beyond and implement speedrunning tricks as features, but make them tricky enough so that the speedrun has a high skill ceiling and casual people don't accidentally stray off the intended path
(See Crystal Project)

or Tunic
my experience is when there is a developer around to ask why something was patched out, the answer is inevitably that it either affected casual play or it was completely unintentional
Speaking of sales, the Steam beta has a new feature where you can buy a game and mark it private at the same time, https://i.imgur.com/1uLL8aw.png
Ubisoft does a lot of bad things, but for financial reasons, and "paying speedrunners to QA test" doesn't make any financial sense (especially if these glitches were well-known long before the tournament, which I think they were based on the phrasing in the screenshots above)
Ah so I can buy my weird anime games in peace now, fantastic
heck, for all we know, they were delaying the patch to after the tournament was over
And you can mark games as private from the library https://i.imgur.com/HYViwWR.png
This is perfect for idle games, so your library is not cluttered with twenty "6000 hours" games
we all know the real reason for this
to hide the 42 dozen NSFW furry VNs in your Steam list from everyone else
this joke is being told often enough that now I feel weird for not having any of those furry VNs in my library
You're supposed to just pirate those
Most of the stuff I just scrolled past, a lot call it pitiful, disgusting, annoying, but I just call it typical from the same companies that pull this crap, and then on top of it, at points, the consumers still buy into it and end up as part of the problem, making these already greedy companies push it even further
Well BLJ was instantly fixed in the next version anyway

Man, the memories this brings back...does anybody remember the old Aveyond RPGMaker series? Those were my childhood, and what got me into the RPG/JRPG genre.
I have not heard of it
They're relatively unknown and rather small these days compared to other games in the genre (and also very old, and it shows). Frankly, they're nowhere near as good as I once thought they were as a kid, but I still love listening to their soundtracks. Unlike other RPG Maker games, the creators of the Aveyond series actually hired proper composers to do their music, and while the first game's music was a little rough, from the second game onwards it was actually really good.
Today's video will explore a commonly asked question - How did players ever find the entrance to the DLC of Dark Souls 1? It's known for being weirdly complicated to access, hiding a lot of important content behind some very arbitrary steps. This video aims to provide some context for how finding the DLC at the time of its release was probably a...
asking the real fucking questions here
(also the timing of this is EXTREMELY funny given the current gaming discourse surrounding yellow paint/tape to guide players on what to interact with)
I still think shit like that is insanely cool
It's so jank but at the same time it adds to the experience for me.
It feels like following one of the fake guides to ||save aeirth|| in ff7 that were going around back in the day, but it's actually true and it works
You should try the super secret boss in Death's Gambit
I didn't vibe much with death gambit when I played it for a bit
It's not for everyone. The super secret boss is something super unique, though
It has some of the most creative game design of all time
I seem to be pretty picky with 2d soulslikes, I couldn't even tell you what didn't click exactly
I think it's a good game
I might give it another shot when I am in the mood, once the schedule opens up
If you like, you can watch me play that part
But if you're going to ever play the game I'd rather you experience it for yourself.
Here's some history about it that you won't learn about in the game:
I actually don't mind being spoiled, maybe if I find the idea interesting it would be a good motivational factor to go through the game, why is it so unique?
Initially, the only hint to the super secret boss was introduced as a little code inside the IGN trailer
Feel free to spoiler tag the stuff which you consider spoilers, I will click on them
You would take the code ||and put it into a locked machine in the game, taking out the dark magic tome... The only weapon that can hit five invisible fragments of the boss scattered across the world with hints for each one||
||After you have all five, you unlock a whole new region of the game that goes into a mindscrew ARG direction, with unique mechanics and design that doesn't bother trying to stick to realism.||
That sounds pretty cool, good way to ||make you feel like you are doing something you are not supposed to, reminds me of inscription ||
If you finish all of the different puzzles there, ||you get to finally fight the boss, who disappears after you hurt him by traveling through time. In order to continue the fight, you have to wait for him to show up in the new time he traveled to...||
||Or you can change your clock.||
Lol
The latter is the intended mechanic with hints in the game that tell you about it
They were definitely cooking
i love games that reproduce the feeling that playground rumours and creepypastas made me feel
like the ||Snowgrave Route|| in Deltarune is a good example
Some parts of the ||extra level include a chromatic aberration chamber filled with hanged versions of you, some of which chase you and fucking murder you|| as well as ||a completely invisible room with a creepypasta style background||
Fun fact
The developers of this game worked on Deltarune too
That is in general why I don't mind From Soft games being not as forthcoming with information.
When you don't have all the information, or at least harbor a kernel of uncertainty about what's out there, then everything is technically possible.
At least to a certain extent, it sometimes can be too much
Also depends on the genre
From games that I expect it from I like it, but hide mechanics in IDK, a strategy game and I am gonna be mad
Crystal Project is one game that does both exploration and perfect information well
The JRPG part hides zero information from you, while the world is tailored to lead you to have as many surprises as possible
I will play it at some point
I've seen people play it in a super interesting way
Where there was one player who played the game, but the other players get to make decisions for one of the four characters
It is a trip to see a JRpg with straight up Minecraft aesthetic, it completely breaks my brain for no reason
What class they are, what equipment they use, and so on
Yes! Crystal Project basically rewired my brain and I think about the same parts of the game world very differently from before
It's wild how different it is
hold bird gently like a burger
bullying kids into disconnect may be the most satisfying thing in gaming history
no words even needed, just pure dogpilling in game
just a couple more wins and im set
probably one of the most stressful comebacks
nice job
