I think it's fine, if you are making something a large part of the whole world want to buy/watch, spending quite a bit of money on it seems logical
The cap on it, is probably that at this point, the market isn't really growing that much anymore.
Yeah there will always be a market for big blockbuster games
There was a bit in which games went from being a lame thing for nerds or maladapted kids, to something a large chunk of adults partake in (as those kids grew up)
But I feel like that growth is slowing down
I ain't gonna pretend I wasn't wowed by red dead 2
I do not recall ever putting this game in my wishlist but apparently I did four years ago https://store.steampowered.com/app/552620/ATOM_RPG_Postapocalyptic_indie_game/
ATOM RPG is a post-apocalyptic indie game, inspired by classic CRPGs: Fallout, Wasteland, System Shock, Deus Ex, Baldur's Gate and many others. In 1986 both the Soviet Union and the Western Bloc were destroyed in mutual nuclear bombings. You are one of the survivors of the nuclear Holocaust. Your mission - to explore the wild and wondrous world o...

Ah well, I'm taking it out
Computer
Damn, even after nuclear Holocaust we still have missions to complete
Stuff like Baldur's Gate 3
??????????
It's a very old genre
doesn't this mean every rpg is a crpg
More like crap RPGs!
No, it only refers to RPGs that need a mouse and keyboard, in the same style as 90s RPGs
Like dragon age origins
but Baldur's Gate 3 is on the Xbox

I think the main difference is that crpgs were largely only on a PC because the interface didn't really work with a controller at the time
Baldur's Gate 2 wasn't
isn't Baldur's Gate 3 a crpg
And to be fair, crps are still pretty annoying to play with a controller IMO
Yeah it is. The genre name does not actually mean anything anymore
It just refers to the style of game
Stuff like this
oh i know that game
Computer game shit
A bit like you don't play Arcade games at the Arcade
I love computer games
But the genre is still called Arcade
Too grim?
Too classic style
Another game in my wishlist I don't recall ever adding https://store.steampowered.com/app/1591450/Aka/
GardeningThe farming system is inspired by permaculture, where associations (garden design) and wild animals play a role.ConstructionIt is possible to craft shelter, tools, clothes, or various props. It can help solve quests or just be for a decorative purpose. You will need to gather materials, find objects or win them while doing quests.Relaxa...

It makes so much sense that it's called grim rock and the guy in the screenshot has Stone in his name
This one is cute so I'm still gonna wait for a sale
The screenshot is actually from Wikipedia
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jc3l8MybWu0 i vaguely recall playing this literal decades ago
Im playing ShadowCaster (1993).
Well, what can i say, this game uses a modified Wolfenstein 3D engine and actually i couldn´t really get into this game ... (I hate that i "float" around on the floor whenever i stop moving).
i remember this game
I don't think i ever got more than 10 minutes in
that man has a very wide face
INdeed
What about The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky? It released as a PC title first and can be played with a mouse and keyboard, but it also can be played with a controller and got a PSP port a few years later.
Thing is the game was made with an interface to work with mouse and keyboard though, just because it’s Japanese in origin doesn’t mean it can’t be a CRPG…
I can't because it's not in the same genre I think
Yeah, but it's a JRPG because of the style
I would have to look at it
CRPG no longer refers to games made for computers
It just refers to a specific style of western RPGs
The name was because at the time those were only on Computers, even tho it's not longer the case, the genere name stuck.
It's as if, in a parallel universe FPS were called mouse shooters.
JRPG also refers to a style, rather than actually any Japanese RPG
And still were to this day
So CRPGs are about a style? So why are they called CRPGs then as it seems the only “computer” thing about them is where they are released, but it can’t be in “that style” to count. Sounds like either a poor name or just weird semantics
It's nothing to do on the fact that they are on PC, but that the genre started on PC
Right, so it’s just poorly named then, gotcha
Similar example as I said earlier is Arcade games.
The genre got it start on arcade cabinets, and the name stuck
Today if you play an arcade game, chances are you aren't playing it on an arcade cabinet
Well arcade games kinda split in to genres themselves over time… much like CRPGs I guess
It's not a 1-1 comparison but it's similar
As in the name comes from the platform that populrised it
It's extremely extremely common for genre names to eventually make less and less sense. You just have to accept it
Looking forward to 2123 where none knows what the fuck a souls game is
Yep
But everyone still call those games that
Like BBQRPGs which is a subgenre of cooking mama type games
Well that is true. An “open world game” barely describes the type of gameplay you may get but it usually means a mashup of several older genres spread over a large map
Yeah it's complicated.
That said I must admit, an open world map drives the gameplay enough that I think it's fair to call it a genre.
I almost believed you
Oops, meant to reply to Dr. Romulus
I think the worst name for a genre or sub-genre is “character action”, like that describes nothing to me but apparently games like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta are in that genre…
Oh I just noticed you're looking mighty Zotey today
I call Devil May Cry and Bayonetta Style-Based Hack and Slash
Isn’t hack and slash more like Dynasty Warriors though?
Which is hilarious because that too went open world a few years back… to disastrous effect
Yes, I separated Hack and Slash into style based and general hack and slash
that's why I usually go with "spectacle fighter"
I always called Dinasty Warriors-like musou games
I don't use the word Musou because I hate it
IME hack-and-slash is a much broader term than musou
To be fair, it was more when they were popular, now they kinda fell off
When I was a child I printed out a machine translated Dynasty Warriors 5 guide from Gamefaqs and it used the word Musou six hundred times
I had no idea what the fuck any of it meant
to be fair genre names are often meaningless if they're new to you no matter what language they're in
look how many times we've had to explain to someone in this very channel what "CRPG" or "immersive sim" or "spectacle fighter" means
Technically Dynasty Warriors started as a fighting game before the sequels pivoted into what we know today
the very nature of a genre kind of requires you to play/watch/read it firsthand before you "get" it
I mean I think it's fair, hack and slash describes what you do, and character action describe where the focus of the game is.
I think hack and slash is broader
While I've alwasy seen Character Action applied to DMC-likes
right, like Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is a hack-and-slash and a platformer, but it's clearly not a musou or a spectacle fighter
The funniest game I have played for genre pigeonholing is Pony Island. The genre for that is yes.
it probably falls into "horror", but otherwise yeah
That game is just an Undertale
I guess you could call it a puzzle game loosely with the horror elements
You aren't wrong even tho I don't know what you mean.
My assumption is a smaller game with meta elements
both games are small indie projects focused on playing with genre conventions in ways seasoned gamers would appreciate most rather than sticking to any particular genre and doing its mechanics especially well
Undertale (Genre): Undertale, Inscryption, Pony Island,

Stanley Parable perhaps
Yeah
Basically games that intentionally subvert expectations and have a meta-narrative
Isn’t Undertale at least originally selling itself as a JRPG-like title (I say that as it’s not Japanese), I know it ascends beyond that being something meta about games in general. I guess meta could be a genre itself but I’d hold fast on using it as it sounds far too close to metaverse…
It's a horror graphic adventure
Undertale is primarily about subverting RPG conventions, yes
the same way Stanley Parable is often a little more interested in subverting first-person shooter storytelling conventions, though it applies to a fair bit more than that
or Inscryption for roguelikes and deck builders
they all have a genre or two they're jumping off of to do all their meta subversion shenanigans
Well Stanley Parable is more a first person walking simulator with meta elements, can’t really call it a shooter when you never get hold of a gun
it is the most loosely tied to its original genre of the games mentioned so far yeah
and it actively points that out, like the achivement for discovering they disabled the jump button
Wait that makes it seem like you can enable it
Correct
Stanley Parable was originally a Half-Life mod, and most (all?) versions of it were still Source engine based, which bleeds through into the details of the game all over the place
such as when it teleports you into other games, and it chooses other first person games (but also ones that never had shooting)
...well except Rocket League which it made first person, lol
Pony Island was... arcade side-scrolling platformers, right?
Imagine not using a vpn if you were gonna download it
Uh
I never got around to playing Pony Island. I watched someone play it and it had silly hacking elements and metanarrative
A little bit
I think the game connects to Insomniac servers when you play it
While I don’t condone downloading stolen files I do have to ask, would using a VPN protect people or could Sony subpoena the VPN owners to cough up the details of the user?
iirc the core plot starts out as you're in an old arcade, playing an arcade game which is just a pony running to the right and jumping over stuff, and then it turns out to be haunted and you have to find other people trapped in the arcade machine and all team up to defeat satan or whatever
Good VPNs allegedly don't keep logs on users, so they wouldn't be able to tell who it was that connected to their servers to download the game
They can't even do that for some VPNs because the VPN is structured so that no one knows who's who
It depends, but generally for the vpns people pay money for to pirate shit, no
Yeah. Theres a list of vpn servies who do and dont keep logs
I kind o belive it's the case because it's the best way for VPNs to protect themselves.
But generally dont use free vpns
So at the very least most who are likely to be doing this aren’t likely to be caught in that way then, if you’re technically savvy enough to of got these early builds of Wolverine working you’re very likely to be using a VPN or similar.
I haven’t actually seen anyone refer to cRPG for a long time, and never as a genre; I always saw it used as a descriptor to distinguish them from pen-and-paper (“pnp”) RPGs.
The discussion started because of a tag applied by steam users that showed up in the Steam year in review
I've seen "CRPG" pop up here a million times since the recent revival of the subgenre, particularly when I was playing Disco Elysium and Planescape and of course when Baldur's Gate 3 came out this year
84 times
Well, I haven’t, and again I’ve never seen it refer to a genre of any kind (unless “runs on a computer” is a genre now). “Old-school” or “traditional” would be terms that I would think are more apropos for the category of games that those you name would fall in.
everyone agrees it's an outdated genre name these days
but it's what stuck
and has become significantly more specific than "traditional"/"old-school", e.g. Final Fantasy 1 is old-school but not what CRPG refers to now
genre names are weird
Final Fantasy 1 is a JRPG
Not to me, though!
I've only played, like, 2 crpgs myself, I'm not the one making the rules here lol
ever since BG3 came out the whole "what are crgps, why did they die out, why are they suddenly back" thing has been a recurring talking point
Well like I said you’re the first person I’ve ever seen use the term in reference to a genre
That doesn't mean much when it was going on sale for like $3
Yeah they wanted it to sell 6 million. But only got 5 million before being abandoned
I think I might've bought it on sale literally as a joke
Oh noooo, we only sold five million copies
Anthem failing was honestly the slap in the face EA needed to get its act together to some extent
did it work?
I've been making fun of anthem since before it even released
His defense is that he plans to keep hacking companies to steal their data as soon as he gets out.
Great defense there, buddy.
Their focusing more on single player stuff since then so i would say yeah
Granted Dice really needs to figure itself out with making battlefield again
Vince Zampella getting more power and being allowed to lead his teams as he wants is certainly helping. He's kinda seen as a fixer these days. Under his leadership they did get Apex and the two Jedi games and I think those two getting positive receptions is certainly shifting things a tad
Not enough given how much live service stuff makes (cough EA FC cough) But I do think there's a shift of sorts
Yeah EA losing fifa license probably was a major oof
Wait, they what?
FIFA wanted a bigger cut
EA said no, they parted ways, now the EA FIFA games are called EA FC (football club? I guess?)
I don't know the numbers but it's not quite as major an off as some might think because there's no real other competition for this game - and EA FC still has access to the players themselves, which is what folk care about
FIFA themselves did say they plan on releasing 3 games. Every single one NFT/Blockchain related, soooooooo
do people still care about Anthem
Nah, it's literally shutting down if not already closed
all I've ever heard about Anthem is how meh it apparently is compared to the competition; was it ever a big deal except for how much was invested in it?
Which is unfortunate. Neat concept, but BioWare had direction issues
i remember my friends being really excited for it and then never hearing about it after the first week it came out
Nah, Anthem was a disaster for BioWare, unfortunately
that ^this keeps happening is why so many of us ignore most not-yet-released games as a rule now
The flying was the best part, combat was decent, the endgame/loot/the stuff that keeps you playing was terrible

I have that extension in my browser its nice flitter
I don't have it because personally I don't want to give clickbaity videos clicks at all
So you don't click on 99% of videos? Since you seem to claim every single one is clickbait
I wasn't aware of it before, though I probably won't invest in trying it since I tend to stick to channels I know aren't that clickbaity anyway, and my personal experiences with these kinds of "replace X with Y" extensions have been pretty unreliable in the past
Actually, most videos are not clickbait
It just happens that a lot of videos shared here are clickbait.
I don't consider the Semi Ramblomatic video above clickbait
Here's my recommendations: https://i.imgur.com/UVjhH86.png
1- Informative title, includes everything I wanted to know.
2- It's music. Title is fine.
3- Not interesting, but not clickbait.
4- Kinda like clickbait.
5, 6 - Not clickbait.
7- Not clickbait but I find it annoying.
8- This is just an ad, but it's not clickbait.
what's annoying about 7

😿
It's too commercial is how I'd like to put it
real fake cats
Either way, by not watching a lot of clickbait, the algorithm tends to not present me with a lot of videos I consider clickbaity
I see your point mostly because of that shiny gold 1080p logo in the corner, no idea what that's doing there
The title of that video is very long and not very helpful
every time I see that shiny gold 1080p or 4k or hdr logos, all I think of is "I am sure I can't trust that with 100%".
lol ur just being whiney
the idea that anyone sees this and thinks "clickbait" is absurd
I'm not being whiney. I'm just continuing the conversation
...is it? that's by far the most clickbaity thumbnail in the list posted
Please be considerate and don't assume the worst in people, Evalya.
large uninformative text and the facecam shot are textbook clickbait stuff
😭 how?
what a coincidence im watching old ZPs rn lol
its obviously a joke
that... doesn't refute anything we said?
I mean I've seen much worse than this, I'm not saying I freak out just from seeing a thumbnail like this
i certainly hope you dont
but generally I would not click on a thumbnail like this, my experience is they correlate with lower quality videos
I didn't really get the joke because I have no idea who that person is or what the video topic is, so it's easy to dismiss it.
someone asked what Flitter considers clickbaity and they provided examples, that's how we ended up here
I'm certainly not watching an episode 51 of a series I don't recognize when I could start with episode 1.
i thought i was going to see a lot of clickbait on my youtube recommendations but i actually dont have a single clickbait vid in the first 6 lol
I almost never see my "recommendations" page so I have no idea what's on there
Either way, I believe that everyone's definition of what's good and what's bad, what's clickbait and what's not all differ
And you're absolutely within your right to watch what you like
after all, it can't be better than my subscriptions page
i have a bad habbit of subscribing to to every other channel so my subscription page is terrible lol
I use my recommendation page to find new creators, and my subscriptions page to watch existing ones
I usually find new creators through the suggestions on a specific video
I am usually parked on my subscriptions page
when I'm done watching a video I'm usually not in the mood to watch another one
This is how i do, as well
and these days I have so much non-Youtube stuff to be doing that I already don't get around to much of what I'm subscribed to
usually, yes, the rare times I do are when I find new creators
I have a backlog at the moment because of secret santa and zomboid
it's not a thing you can do every day and still actually watch anything you're subscribed to
I listen to videos in the background most of the time
ah, I never do that
i do sometimes but its impossible for me to take in pretty much all of the information i hear if im just listening to it in the background so i have to remind myself not to watch/listen to anything that is actually interesting to me
i also cant read and process text much when i have voices or music in the background strangely
That's absolutely fair. I have audio processing issues, but only when there's more than one voice
I have a similar problem where I can't seem to get started and focus on an activity unless I have something playing in the background but if it's something I actually want to pay attention to I keep having to replay it because I focus on the other activity and the video becomes white noise
It's pretty frustrating
My recommended is just a blank page because I turned my watch history off
shorks
I thought if you turn watch history off it just shows you what's trending
Oh nice, caught every kind of fish
Nope! They probably changed it at some point
Like a passive aggressive way of telling you to turn it back on
Unironically that's good
Even after I started intentionally liking content I want to see more of, I keep getting recommended pure trash, especially in shorts
I'm getting good recommendations and I don't like any videos.
I only watch videos I want to see more of

Yep!

I'm more want to partecipate in Blade book club
I never watched mobius
You only need to know its morbin time
I missed the boat when it was relevant, and later watching a bad movie just because memes seemed like a bad idea
In fairness now its not the worst flop marvels ever done

But it’s something about vampires idk
Blade seems cool too though
If I have to watch a vampire realted marvel movie, I'd rewatch Blade instead
It's a very good game, also very immersive to play in december
I had to get my blanket ready every time
I did not like Frostpunk much but I hope you enjoy it
Video Games increased in price since 2020 to $70.
To this day, not a single game has validated that price in my opinion.
Here is a list of GOTY winners since the price tag raise was introduced in 2020.
2020 - The Last of Us Part II ($60)
2021 - It Takes Two ($40)
2022 - Elden Ring ($60)
2023 - Baldur's Gate 3 ($60)
I have no opinion because I have no idea how much time and money any of those games cost to make and market
I still probably wouldn't have much of an opinion
and even when we know the production costs, it's not like consumers will pay more for a product if they know 10x more people-hours were spent on it; they care whether the result's any fun to play
it's just very hard to make a strong argument for what a price should be beyond the straightforward "I can't afford games at <price>" that's different for all of us
I'm also not sure this tweet succeeds at making the argument it's trying to make when most of its examples are $60
I don't entirely agree, I'd be less likely to pay $60 for a game made by a single person in 2 years even if it's amazing
IDK, depends on the game
Cuz I'd be like, wtf am I paying for?
small indie games also tend to get discounted more, so even that comparison is hard to make in isolation
of course no indie dev charges $60 unless they somehow manage the content and graphics of a AAA release
Like, it's true because praticality means the game is going to be less advanced than one made by a studios of 300 people, but if hypotetically this game is like literally the same as God of War Ragnarok, I'll pay 60 bucks even if it's made by only one person.
And also be scared of that person skills for the rest of my life
my point is price expectations are always at least partially arbitrary and based on what we're all used to paying for certain products, which makes it really hard to tell what prices "should" be, but very easy to tell when a proposed price is "different"
And be very happy they chose games development rather than IDK, genetically modifying viruses
but what if they could've cured cancer /s
I don't want to cure cancer, I want to turn people into dinosaurs!
What if they could have made cancer worse? I don't trust them to relate to mortals.
(BG3 has its first sale (10%) with this steam winter sale!)
And also when it's made
Hollow Knight would have been a full price game if it was made in 2003
but what if they chose to speedrun instead
and what region or system or e-shop we're using to buy it, and whether it's a single payment or has mtx or expansions or some other model, and how likely that dev/publisher/etc is to do sales in the future...
before the Internet, you had to pay to get game demos (i.e. shareware)
at least for me personally, whether I pay full price for a game mostly comes down to whether I'm in the mood to play it (and convinced it's good) when it's still new and at full price
Doom shareware was $10 for instance
Fuuuuck that
$10 back then is also way more than $10 today 🙂
we also just have so many more games to play now, free and pirateable and otherwise
making $60 much harder to justify for anyone with limited funds no matter how good the new thing is
it's been almost a year since I bought games outside of my wallet money earned from selling skin drops
And also the games as a service, which are usually a lot more palatble with people with limited funds
that reminds me, I looked at The Finals today but its anticheat has no Linux support 😦
Because it's easier to scrape 15 bucks together to buy some currency, than 60 bucks for a full game
good point, it's easy to forget that live service games have upsides
yeah, barrier to entry is much lower
I started playing OW2 but never played OW1 because of the steep price back when it was hip
(price eventually got good, but the game was languishing so I didn't bother)
I don't buy anything in that game, for the record
the eternal paradox of multiplayer games, it's not worth the price until it's no longer worth anything
I believe you, with those prices
Welp, unfortunately there aren't that many games in the winter sale that I'm interested in, although the Frostpunk deal is good, and I can also get Sea of Stars for 20% off too, which is also on my wishlist.
I was hoping for Rogue Trader, but I guess that's too new for a sale.
I still haven't played much of what I bought in the last sale so I'm probably going to ignore this one
If you have gamepass Sea of Stars is there for the record
Hm... Nothing on my wishlist has a very big discount
Just in case, not everyone uses GP I am aware
I could get signalis ig
applies peer pressure
Many things on my wishlist that I want, but said wishlist is also rather large
I don't have Game Pass
speaking of which, I should really play some of these games from the autumn sale after I finish my Doctor Who catch-up
I got this one, which I wanted for a while and the sequel is looming: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1677770/The_Case_of_the_Golden_Idol/

(the goal is to have a shared codebase for as much code as possible, so many of the enhancements can be ported over with less work)
it probably won't be a single executable, but still
yeah, MM is known to be difficult
In that in a lot of cases the puzzles you have to figure out are kinda random logical leaps (but thankfully this is largely contained to the optional quests)
the 3D version makes it a bit easier in many spots
Yeah, the 3DS fixed a bunch. Maybe they went too far with the modifications, but that’s just a purity argument
eeeeeehhhh.....
Personally I don’t like some of the changes they made
But that’s up to the player to decide I think
Yeah, I heard that some of the things they did n the 3DS remake weren't the best, like the Zora swimming, but I'll deal with it as it comes up.
I still haven't played MM in part since OoT was already obscure enough I had my nose in a walkthrough constantly to finish that, and the analyses I've seen of MM original vs 3D changes went well into the opposite extreme of not even having a puzzle any more
OoT
obscure
What.
I'd sooner recommend someone play the original Majora's with a guide than I would recommend the 3DS remake but I don't wanna get super into it
obtuse, obscure, whatever word you wanna use for the puzzle logic is just not solvable without a walkthrough
Obtuse might be a better word, imo.
yeah, I find OoT super obtuse
at least Starfox Adventures gave you in-game hints in the menu that were usually helpful
I wonder how people with no Internet access and no strategy guide beat OoT
I think back in those days a lot of people just didn't finish games
Trial and error.
Lots. And lots. And lots. AND LOTS. Of error.
or relied on everyone else having the same game so they could swap answers irl
Yeah same as old point and click adventures
I rarely ever finished games as a kid, I remember
Trial and error
The original Myst...
whereas I stop playing these games when they become pure trial and error
Sierra adventure games: Am I a joke to you?
Go in a place, and rub every item you have on any surfaces available
Ohhhh man, do you remember The Island of Dr. Brain?
Like any sane human does
at least in the Myst series even the hardest puzzles always have a logic to them that is solvable, it's a legitimate hardness
I wanna ask if OOT really was that obtuse and hard especially since Majora's Mask is being discussed but I don't want to come across as snobby
I can only describe my experience back when I played it
it was long enough ago I can't argue the point, but also, this isn't really the kind of point that can be argued either way
some people just happen to be on the same wavelength as a game's designer and get everything immediately, there's no accounting for that and no objectively proving whether the people who got it are more right than the people who don't get it even after looking up the answer
old Sierra adventure games are such bullshit i adore them
This f*cking game, man. It was insanity. I could barely finish some of the puzzles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMnEBo0UICY
The Island of Dr. Brain is the second game in the Dr. Brain series by Sierra On-Line. It was released in 1992 and was only available to play in DOS.
Like the first game in the Dr. Brain series, The Castle of Dr. Brain, Island was an educational puzzle adventure game.
Ok so, I have been playing Alan Wake Remastered, and for some reason, that game does curse my controller
I remember watching my brother play Monkey's Island but that's LucasArts, so not as challenging
I don't think I played any of the point-and-clicks from back in that pre-Myst era
It seems to vibrate at random times
Psycho Mantis DLC
I did try one of the later Monkey Islands once a long time ago and that was also far too obtuse for me
And it persists after I close the game until I restart my computer, it's a powerful hex that this game is somehow capable of
The funny thing is that it's not a constant rumble, it stops for literal minutes, or even ten of minutes, then does something like, steady rithmic pulses, or suddently goes all out.
Truly a horror game, it tries to scare me even after I close it
heh, the other day when I was doing some Outer Wilds stuff my controller's rumble pack got stuck on for some reason
It's so weird, it varies so much how often it virbates and for how long that it seems like it's on purpose or it's following some kind of logic
I've heard of games doing something like that on purpose as a way of giving the player a secret detector
OoT does it
though the few times I tried it it never seemed to work for me, or I wasn't aware of it until I'd already found everything some other way
and MGS2 has an item that uses vibration as an enemy sensor
I think Tunic's approach of making the fox look toward stuff is much more effective
yeah, and it actually works for keyboard players 😛
Ship of Harkinian has an option to display a Stone of Agony icon for that reason
Nintendo does this too
Link looks at stuff in Wind Waker for example
ah
I don't remember if Twilight Princess did that, but then I wasn't trying for secrets when I replayed that
Yeah but in this case something is deeply fucked, like, it still does it when I close the game or when it's paused.
Someone fucked up something fierce.
Yeah, it does that in TP as well but it’s less noticeable
Because the cue in Link’s human form is predominantly in his eyes and a subtle tilt of the head. But it’s more pronounced in wolf form.
Hehe, yeah, I love his expressiveness
I also want to add, the game has brief driving sessions and...it was a bold choice.
Not a smart one, but a bold one.
ok i just saw some of the leaked Wolverine gameplay and this looks amazing ???? and it's unfinished ????? incredible
Alright so I was browsing around stuff related to RE Revelation's weapons because I wanted to find some reference pictures of some handguns and it led me to this: https://residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/12563/real-weapon-item-names-updated
Real Weapon & Item Names This mod does exactly that. Changes the weapons and items in game text to
which in turn, reminded me of this https://www.nexusmods.com/metalgearsolidvtpp/mods/283
and I have to ask, for the more gun savvy people (americans)
...why is this a thing?
is there any reason why you'd just make up fake weapon names instead of just calling it what it is?
Copyright & Licensing
Guns have copyright?
yeah
That's incredible
Guns are products that companies sell, you know...
Guns are produced by companies, and sold as products
Sure, when you put it that way it makes sense but it's not something I really ever thought of before
I guess I didn't really see weapons and guns as products in the same way as a Monster ™️ can
this is why you come ask us americans

Are their appearance also copyrighted or just the name? I don't know nearly enough about guns to tell if the fake guns in these games have to design them to look legally distinct or whatever or if the general look is free game
I kinda like those "real [product] names" mods, but it's really funny to jump through hoops just to intentionally put advertising in your game
I think by far the funniest example of advertising in games has to be Death Stranding
It's so good
The Monster advertising and the random advertising for Norman Reedus' tv show are so in your face it's insane
Not even trying to hide it or make it subtle
the tv show is kinda just as annoying as it is funny, but the monster placement is so extreme I just love it
Sam downs monster cans in such a cartoony manner it's like he's waterboarding himself with them, boy loves his Monster
Names are mostly copyrighted. Appearance isn't, but you can get away with something and people in the know will know.
I know there was a whole cup noodles thing in final fantasy 15(?) or whatever, but I didn't play it
three of 'em in a row
bro's heart is PUMPING
They didn't have the Panara Bread drink, so you use what you have. /s
Which reminds me of how people already found hidden stuff in the trailer for O.D and connected it to Silent Hills
People almost immediately found hidden letters in the video that spell out Atami which is a town in Shizuoka prefecture and Shizuoka can translate to literally Silent Hill
Sounds like a stretch but with Kojima it rarely is, whatever they talked about in the game awards didn't really fill me with hype but I'm hoping O.D will be that horror game he mentioned he wanted to make years back
I would've imagined that maybe making them identical to the real guns would kind of make the name licensing redundant but I guess not
weird how that works but I guess it makes sense
I am so ready for kojima horror
I'm really worried about it because even though Kojima hasn't really done anything I'd call bad, what little they said about the game in the game awards sounded really weird and I really don't know what to expect but we'll see
I'm hoping it'll be the Silent Hills he was never able to make and if we're lucky he might've brought back Del Toro and Ito to work on it
also, speaking of Kojima
https://vxtwitter.com/HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN/status/1737737275050745921
Now I kinda have to hear how certain characters sound in japanese
Assuming it's dubbed
would take quite the effort to dub
Larian would figure out a way to do it, while not crunching their employees and paying them fair wages for their time.
Solely for the opportunity to tell other game companies, "f*ck you, it CAN be done".

I wanna get the ROG Ally soon and part of my wonders if I'll just have it replace my home desktop. Just put my 2070 super into an external gpu enclosure and connect it to the Ally when I am gaming at home.
both design and name are covered by copyright and trademark respectively, but many games just rename the weapon and call it a day
in some countries, there is also a dedicated system for "drawing and models" industrial property like in France. This covers a lot of hardware devices, including firearms
regarding Ship of Harkinian running Majora's Mask, it looks like it's already possible, though you can't actually play the game, just run around in some levels: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/284861009447878656/1187556817283334234/F9f-XYyWQAABrE7.png?ex=65975178&is=6584dc78&hm=3985be6c7cc88e7726147a1e3aadc395a57452dcd5fa1463fecabce4c26270d5&
92% so far
Yeah. They have like blueprints and patents and stuff
Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is 50% off on which is an absolute steal. if you haven't played it you should
At this rate just hire these guys to help make the game
what a disaster for sony and insomniac
idk this game looks kickass
new info is still coming in cause the leak is so big
I doubt they’ll cancel it. Too much money and agreements gave already been made
yeah but a fully playable build of an incoming game is terrible for them
Unfinished prototypes leaking before you’re ready to show off the game proper are deeply demoralizing
I dont see why
Because like it or not, much of your audience gains an impression of your work based on it even though the prototype may not reflect the finished work at all.
Good thing that the prealpha is actually really good then lol
Further, it may showcase ideas that never make the final cut and thus disappoint your audience
I look forward to playing. The full game on pc
That being said apparently the source code was leaked with it
Leaks have a meaningful hit on sales.
It’s weird psychology, but this seems to generally hold
So that probably explains why they got the console ports
Also apparently someone got it modded to where they got other super heros to be playable in it
Modders created Scarlet Witch mod for the Wolverine Build
Will release when it's ready
↘️ Quoting Senpai (@PC_clown)
Like, take the Cyberpunk 2077 trailers before it came out as a good example. Trailers are showing a specific build which include unfinished content and are subject to change.
One such feature that was shown off prominently was wall running and the game famously never got that feature in the public release.
Putting aside the other issues of Cyberpunk 2077, the lack of wall running was one thing that people held against CDPR ever since.
And that was part of an intentionally designed showcase. Having a full prototype leak is even worse. (Let alone the fact that this also leaks your valuable assets)
Still curious how the hack had happened
I assume wall running not making the cut was a gameplay design issue.
That and dev time
They used computers
Like maybe it interfered with intended pacing goals
Or it was broken in some way or a combination thereof
It is neat to see the gray boxing stage of a AAA studio’s development cycle for different reasons though
Yeah, one cool thing was seeing all the presentations and getting an insight on how AAA game dev is done and organized
Doom shareware was free to share, though
But yeah, the other part is that it’s just human; you don’t want people seeing your experimental WIP stuff most of the time
the workflow from concepts to animations and each individual gameplay feature having to be delegated
after maintaining software professionally for over a decade... you really do not want a wide customer base knowing too much about your experimental and unfinished features; they will form inaccurate or unrealistic expectations if you aren't careful with what you tell them and that leads to all sorts of hurt feelings on both sides of the process
it's got nothing to do with being scared to show things off, it's genuinely harmful to show things that aren't ready to be shown yet or you haven't firmly decided on releasing yet
even before you get into the more video game-specific problem where many people just won't buy a game when there's a leak they can download instead, and also totally screwing up the timing on marketing that would've otherwise focused everyone's attention on the release
I wonder if the ROG Ally would be able to play GTA 6
someone else who played the dr brain games?!
Knowing the quality of JP VAs... I'd absolutely love to make my second playthrough a JP voiced one, if they did it. Would be cool. (And would love to see which VAs I recognize)

Playing the Playstation 5 for the first time and diving right into Astro’s game that’s bundled in, I was shocked just how damned good the DualSense feels.
It's great when PC games support it via Steam
Not only it feels good, but also the controller DualSense punches your fingers with the force feedback triggers and its so freaking cool. A little hard to get used to but honestly I’m still processing just how awesome the controller is. Vibration is super nice too! Better than ‘HD rumble’.
Its just solid.
Yeah
The mobile app also super good too! Works pathetically easy! Console Setup was near painless (I hit a bug by accident but a restart fixed it quickly, got scared for sure!)
Pathetic is not a good descriptor
Might be best to say it works frictionlessly or that it's trivially easy to navigate

Star Wars Collection (Steam) bundle is $19.99 on Fanatical http://bit.ly/3O61DJb #ad
a lot of Kyle Katarn for only $20
This is just an ad
20 dollars is higher than the lowest price the Star Wars collection has ever been
I think I've already got most of those.
You would think if you had some it would take the price down.
It only does that on Steam
Fanatical is a website that can't check which games you have and reduce the price accordingly
https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/2319/STAR_WARS_Complete_Collection/ is the relevant steam bundle
but yeah, this isn't the cheapest it's ever been
What’s the cheapest?
This is region dependent, but for the US, it's been cheaper in the past both on fanatical and other websites https://isthereanydeal.com/game/starwarscollection/info/
The Star Wars Complete collection is a different collection that's Steam only
That’s not bad.
The notes werent there when I shared it lol
it's always worth reading replies, looking for suspicious elements or context, etc

The bane of my Steam catalog:
Did you know about dynamic categories?
I like sorting my games into collections by genre
Yes, but not all games are properly marked.
Sure, it's meant to lower the amount of work
You can manually tag games for your own library, and also for the store page so others can use it
That being said I usually prefer to sort by most recent https://i.imgur.com/1LPx0y6.png
True. I may try that.
That's the other button https://i.imgur.com/zqUK2xG.png
Yeah, I definitely take advantage of that.
Yeah, here's things I have issues with. Like, I created a First Person Shooters dynamic category, and used the FPS tag from the store... and it puts Garry's Mod in there.
I can remove it manually I guess.
Plus side, it did cut down my Uncategorized by about 100+ games.
Garry's mod is kind of an FPS
In the sense that it has a mode that's first person and also guns you can shoot
Yeah, that's the problem.
It definitely doesn't fit when I think of FPS as a shooter game.
Ah well. I can play with this and refine my results. Thanks, I think that's the push I needed.
Good luck. One thing I'm thinking of doing is simply hiding games I won't ever play again from my library
Ah, so adding tags is an AND function. If a game doesn't have both tags, it gets eliminated. Hrm.
Adding tags to a collection is.
Adding tags to a game just helps it get included in more collections
Yeah, the issue is games that have a specific tag, but don't fit the genre I'm going for. Or games that fit two categories, but don't necessarily have both tags: if I only do one tag it gets missed, but adding both tags to the category gets other games eliminated from the category.
Be nice if I could do an OR or a NOT, but oh well. This will save me a little time.
That's why I do a collection for every tag I'm interested in, and browse them based on mood
Each collection has one tag. No more and no less
Yeah, that's what I'm going to have to do for these.
The new rules, which will effectively set spending limits for online games, sparked panic among investors, wiping off nearly $80 billion in market value from China's two biggest gaming companies, as investors sought to gauge the potential impact on earnings and more restrictions in the offing.
Lmao get fucked
That's actually a legit thing?
Reuters is trustworthy
Reuters is good the vast vast majority of the time.
Tencent, China's biggest company by market capitalisation, tumbled as much as 15.7 per cent following the announcement and was on track for its sharpest one-day drop on record even after paring losses to about 14 per cent.
Shares in rival NetEase were down more than 20 per cent in Hong Kong, setting up the company's US listing for the steepest daily fall since its Wall Street debut in 2010.
The new rules will effectively set spending limits for online games.
Online games will now be banned from giving players rewards if they log in every day, if they spend on the game for the first time or if they spend several times on the game consecutively. All are common incentive mechanisms in online games.
Imagine if something like that that passed in states
So many gaming companies would tank their stocks
They'll adapt, but if enough big players do it, everyone else will get to experience it for fairness.
Sometimes the hardest choices require the strongest wills
They should give us cyberpunk 2077
I wouldn't play it but it'd be nice to have in the library
Omg
Pirates of Caribbean i can see getting added but anything else Disney would be a long shot
jack skellington
Thats more time burton than disney at this point
Still mainline disney
If woody and buzz end up happening then any disney character could
Eh.
I will agree with woody and buzz statement
But TNBC is definitely not mainline
Plus epic and disney are super close
So I'm sure they'd be fine with any disney character showing up
That's sadly the struggle of some indie studios who never explode in popularity because of one single title

Buhuhuhullshit.
I spent like 55 hours in Act 1 alone.
And I only made it like a quarter of the way into Act 2 before I stopped to let updates and bug fixes arrive.
105's actually not too far from my playthrough time, I think. Gotta check (and redownload to check..)
It's more "Longest AAA games"

Lethal Company is a gem. I've seen so many try not to laugh challenges that always get me it's honestly insane how much you can get out of the experience. and don't even get me started with mods too!

I highly recommend getting your friends to buy it and play together
It's a great go-to friend group activity
Nothing compares to hearing your friend's freestyle rapping suddenly turn into a scream and get cut off as he gets eaten at the end of a dark corridor
I spent 40 hours on a single Deus Ex playthrough and that already took me literal years to complete

500 people at $120,000/year (a conservative estimate) working for 5 years = $300 million. And the costs just keep getting higher, which is why so many insiders and observers worry that the video game industry grows less sustainable every year. Happy holidays!
↘️ Quoting NeoGameSpark (@NeoGameSpark)
Respectfully,
Ima need someone to break down...
Now I have to worry, does testers count as people, or this good old 1% takes 50% of income

Depends
Some testers are volunteering others its a paid position
Depends on the company
Yep, AAA dev is expensive.
This is why games are so pricey to buy while also having microtransactions.
The market is generally unsustainable otherwise.
Although,
which is why so many insiders and observers worry that the video game industry grows less sustainable every year
This is a rather pessimistic take.
It's not the fault of the market, it's the fault of how projects are ran.
Knowing how salaries work, I am pretty sure that most of leadership hope take everything they earned into afterlife
And that's why there are average $120,000/year
$120,000/year is on the company's end with taxes and stuff, not what the employee actually earns
depending on the country, companies sometimes need to get 2× the amount of money to pay an employee compared to what the employee can actually use after taxes on their end
Finished Resident Evil Revelations 2, unlocked Barry and Claire's OG outfits
they look so good
"Mammoth tank reporting!"
this is what happens when you hoard ammunition and resources until the last fight in a survival horror game
I'm 80% sure I probably missed some dialogue because of how quickly I finished that with all those bombs, I didn't even get to use my sniper ammo I saved up throughout the game
(to be fair, the actual final fight is really damn good)
I actually think it's really interesting that (spoilers for Resi Rev 2) || instead of this being a typical monster transformation where the villain planned it all along and says some stupid stuff like ''oh I'm perfect!/the ultimate lifeform!'' instead this was entirely accidental and it was caused because Wesker was so fucking afraid as she was about to shoot herself that instead of dying and transfering to Natalia's body she ended up activating the T-Phobos and transforming into the same monsters she created, it's like poetry, it rhymes! ||
I beat Phantom Liberty
Remember to always get the game, because usually Epic pays money for copy redeemed to the devs, and generally those money are better in the pockets of indie devs even if the game doesn't look super interesting to you.
Congrats
Did you go with ||Songbird plan or Reed plan?||
Yar I always get the free game even if i never plan on playing it
I forget about the free game too much
I've probably missed out on hundreds of games now
I just vacuum up all the free stuff, GOG, Prime, Epic
free-to-claim games probably pop up faster than you can ever play them
so technically, you never have to buy games 👀
True, but that's only if they were all uniformly worth playing or of a type i'm interested in
Bet Urge would never be a free game. And I'm addicted to that right now.
i dont really have enough space on my pc to even play most of the free games put on EGS but i should probably claim some of them for if i ever upgrade pc's
you don't have to install a game to claim it
though i really dont even use EGS at all
only had it downloaded a few years ago when i would install fort just to rip the models for the skins
I have about 325 games on epic and I think at most maybe 5 that were actually bought?

I missed my opportunity to annoy people with its pros and cons, darn
But yes if you ask me it's great
(And yes I know I'm scrolled up, hush, this is important enough for me to comment on)
||Songbird||
Ohh interesting, so you went in a completely different direction than me from what I understand
I liked the story overall but I do have my nitpicks.
Getting around Dogtown, as a map, is kind of annoying compared to NC. Lots of shit in the way, lots of parts where you have to be on foot, lots of areas where you cant jump for some reason
It felt more "Scripted" than the main game both in storytelling and in gameplay but it did lead to a tighter narrative, so I'm not considering it a pro or a con outright.
I do wish I had more choices in the DLC narrative than just the ending, and I think that I'd appreciate V having some dialogue options ||to be nicer to Songbird about the whole thing||, but that's it mostly.
I did look up the ending where ||Reed gets the chip removed from your head|| and I think it's quite lame.
Gonna try to find Anno 1800 during Christmas
To be fair, it has more choices than the main game does in general
Especially in the secondary gigs
So while I always like more choices, it's an improvment
criminal cyberattack makes it sound much cooler ngl
but do those choices actually do much of anything?
For the main narrative it felt like it came down to ||Songbird or Reed|| and every decision I made up to that point didn't really mean anything.
For the ultimate outcome for sure, but I know that even if you go ||down the reed plan||, it does have a few different outcomes for example.
And I'd have to look at it more closely for smaller differences through the story, which I'm sure there are a few
The base game had the habit of hiding some choices from you as well, so perhaps there are a few that work that way too, I'd have to read a breakdown
An example is that you can ||save Takemura if you don't run away like the game tells you to, and just kill the assailants||
Midgame spoiler about Takemura
||I didn't know that was a hidden choice because I just saved him lmao||
Fortified ankle jump right back up there and gun down the opposition like the monster my V had become by that point

They're offering full refunds?
Even to people who didn't ask?
Kinda hard to call it a scam at this point
I wouldn't go that far
MyTona is trying to restore reputation after The Day Before Refund
Fntastic leadership already is going to make next game, which definitely will succeed (no)
Well, in fact the game wasn't scam by fact
Yeah, just leadership of Fntastic are completely dumb
Yes. But now they're leaders of Eight points studio
Imagine poor people with Stockholm syndrome will join developing next game after The Day Before
Dumb and greedy, they're even used "volunteer system" where took someone who just wanted to be a part of AAA game for free, promised portfolio for them
Heh, they're exist
I mean, someone really joined them for their next project
On December 11, 2023, The Wild Eight's Steam listing was updated to change the developer to Eight Points, Fntastic's previous name. Steam users suggested this was an attempt by Fntastic to evade criticism that bled over from their newest game, The Day Before, which bombed badly enough to result in Fntastic's closure.[11] Publisher HypeTrain Digital released a statement the next day that they changed the entry because they had terminated all business relations with Fntastic in 2017 and wanted to avoid a review bomb because of The Wild Eight's relation to Fntastic.[12]
Not a new one, an old one. Then fntastic took over or something, and since they took over the IP split from fntastic again back to Wild eight's original dev name so they could avoid the fallout of Fntastic
Not sure, that's a huge explosion of negative, I need to check rating of the games noe
Well yeah, that's the internet being the internet. It looks like Fntastic is trying to evade stuff by changing name on a different game, when this isn't the case. Gamers being gamers, they go to a different game by the same publisher to shit on it, even if the other game has nothing to do with the one causing all the bad press
Ok so, I've finished Alan Wake 1.
Very good, a bit full of itself but the mistery was really compelling.
Even tho the action parts got fairly repetitive along the way
Really well crafted overall, some weird shit here and there, the remastered on PC is kida of a bit fucked sometimes with graphical glitches.
But not game breaking bugs
Now 2
I hated 1 but found the reviews of 2 compelling enough I will consider it even knowing I don't like horror games
WAS THAT THE BITE OF 87?
Please don't let Ubisoft get hacked, I wouldn't survive all the failed comedians reinvented game journalists attempts at Watchdogs themed headlines.
Don't forget Alan Wake's American Nightmare
Granted American Nightmare isn't a good Alan Wake game
It was my first ever steam game though
That's not in the remastered and also I think it's not longer canon after 2
So I'm probably going to skip it for now, maybe 'll double back after to see where they went with it
aah okay
Exciting news for the Switch scene
We have obtained from one of our followers an exclusive video from an upcoming product this person is a beta-tester for.
Apparently a "flash cart" type device is coming pretty …
💖 1
It's an interesting game, somewhat scary, feels very dated now. Interesting story, but the way it is done, without spoiling anything, is extremely repetitive.
The kind of game you can only comfortably complete once
And I suppose of course it feels dated, it ran at 60 fps on a gtx 480
Alan Wake 1 is also not especially replayable
Yeah you could go and look for the thermos and the pages you missed but like, the combat is pretty stale
I actually haven't played alan wake 1 I admit
Yeah that's american nightmare as well
The drive is really the story and that's kinda done after the first run
I wonder if they have a youtube video with all the pages rannated, I should check
Because sure as fuck I'm not goin to collect them
I tried to look for all the pages, but what's the point really, you're just looking around some small bare bones maps for pages.
There probably is
Yeah I found it
Ah cool
I should really look into playing the first alan wake, and the second
I think the gameplay is very similar in 1 and american nightmare
And it makes sense american nightmare isn't cannon actually. Don't want to spoil it just in case though.
As much as i am loathe to promote Epic, they do have a deal + coupon that basically has Alan Wake 2 for about 25$, and you also get mailed a link/code to unlock Alan Wake 1 remastered a day later
Yeah it's how I played the first one
I got the deal myself, it's too good to pass up
I could, but I also really just want to use steam.
But could be worth it.
I don't know if it's coming to steam at all or if it's giga delayed
I really want to avoid using multiple launchers on my gaming handheld now, that I'm gonna play a lot of games on that.
That said I heard that Alan Wake 2 is kind of scary and I am kind of a pussy with horror games, so when I start that one we'll see if that was a good investment.
oh it's not even on steam
I fucking love horror games
I am really one to embrace the scary parts
Alan wake 1 wasn't scary at all, it was compelling and interesting tho.

Honestly, the worst part is that the fight sequences dragged on for a bit too long
And the driving bits...oh god the driving bits.
American Nightmare has this one part where you fight along to really cool music. Fighting along to music is like, my favourite thing ever in a game.
The fighting system isn't terrible, it's just not deep enough for how much fighting there is to do.
Hey can I just randomly say, I regret ever putting money into consoles like the PS3 and Wii U. They are dead now, and any games I got on them I just want to buy again on PC now.
Yeah retro compatibility is probably the biggest PC perk...well to an extent, sometimes games just aren't playable because they just don't work on new hardware/software, but overall...
I mean yeah. Like with GTA3, it's probably easier to emulate a PS2 version than to get it running properly for windows.
I was more thinking of Soul Reaver, which is definitely better to emulate than trying to convince that game to recognise a controller on the PC version.
I tried SO HARD
I got a weird issue with that on my gpu where the motion blur lasted too long. The whole screen would be ghosting, and car light trails would linger for a few seconds.
ooh yeah
I'm probably gonna hate going to controller again, on my handheld system, but whatever, handheld gaming is cool
Curse you embracer, sto lying off employees and make a Soul Reaver remaster.
I can't believe they didn't make a Soul Reaver Souls-like
The people that have that IP are sitting on gold and squandering it for decades.
I admit I have never heard of soul reaver before
I recommend Josh Strive Hayes video on it if you are unfamiliar with it
What kind of game is it?

Become my Soul Reaver, my Angel of Death. It's time to return to Nosgoth and help Raziel seek revenge on the immortal vampiric lord Kain. I'll be replaying the...
Basically, a 3rd person character acton game from the PS1 era
Set in a post fall gothic vampire empire, and you are a vampire that was cast away and come back as a sort of revenant to get your revenge on your brothers.
Looks interesting
It has some metroid vania elements, as in, you unlock new powers as you go through it that allows you to access new areas and get new powers
Yeah that was in the same universe
I have it sitting in my games library but can't play it now of course
It was an attempt to make a multiplayer team vs team game from the ashes of this franchise...it didn't go well...because they should just make single player games in it...
Honestly as I said, they should just make a souls-like
This franchise begs for it
Yeah I see what you mean
I kinda miss running games at 15 fps on lowest settings. Had a vibe to it.
You can still do it
Not really
I mean sure with a frame cap, but then that is stable.
I miss stuff like how I'll be going at 20 fps and then some smoke effect would bring me to 5 fps
Just make a virtual machine with limited resources
Hmm... Yeah perhaps
gaming
i watched 1 video of this guy and my entire recomended tab was flooded with his vids for a good few days
like the videos are good but jfc youtube loves it a lil too much
Just remove the video from your history then
nah its already gone,it was just surprisng how much youtube suggested it right after watching it
I get that with a few people sometimes. Or I watch too many memes and then my home page is only 5-30 second memes and I have to search for something else
Ubisoft security breached, over 900GB stolen https://ift.tt/mSkl9Rn
Everybody gets hacked into now
Oh Fallout Three is free on epic again. Nice
With DLC?
no, I wouldn't recommend emulating PS2 version except on a mobile device
modded PC version is superior in a lot of ways to the PS2 or even Xbox version
I just like the ps2 version I guess then
the nice thing about console ports is that emulating consoles is much easier on a mobile device
it is possible to emulate PC games on Android nowadays but it's much, much more fiddly and also a bit shady (all 3 solutions are at least kind of sus)
Would Hi-Fi Rush run on a laptop?
its runs on a hi-fi so probably (that was a joke)
Depends on the laptop and what's in it
You could use this site to check if you want: https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/hi-fi-rush/22247
It requires you to run software that checks your pc components which is spooky for some people so up to you.
For what's worth I never heard of people getting a malware out of this and the site has a good reputation, but it's worth mentioning.
a good way to judge is to look at benchmarks on YouTube, if you can't find your exact specs in a video, look at Steam Deck benchmarks
your PC is probably at least as powerful as a Steam Deck, unless it's 10+ years old
Hi-Fi Rush runs on UE4 but it's a stylized game with simplified lighting
and remember, you can refund games up to 2 hours of playtime within 14 days of purchase on Steam
Literally nobody's safe anymore. It feels like we're all gonna get hacked at this rate
Did I do something wrong?
No...?
Oh it just seemed...nevermind then
It just looked like you were responding to the link above like it was a virus lol
All good
Surprised loz and bg3 got a draw
As much as I loved TOTK and I still hold my opinion that I had as I was finishing it that it's the better BOTW I seriously think people are massively overrating it
This list is bullshit for one reason alone: the scores are entirely wrong. Wonder got MUCH higher. It's sitting comfortably at 98% on OpenCritic and 92% on Metacritic.
Baldur's Gate 3 has 96% on Metacritic and a whopping 99% on OpenCritic.
Tears of the Kingdom has 96% on Metacritic.
Disregard the entire list, it's using made-up numbers.
To be fair, the building mechanics they added is pretty massive and BOTW was very well recieved in the first place so it's not a bad thing it didn't reinvent itself completely
holy hell
i thought Wonder was excellent but i think i liked TotK more
Howlongtobeat is sharing scores made by users who rate the games. They're not metacritic scores; they're Howlongtobeat user scores.
Then they should say that
It's literally their chart
The person sharing the tweet should explain what the tweet is about. Everyone who interacts with Howlongtobeat knows they have scores
It says "highest rated games of 2023", implying official scores from official critics, not user scores.
To be fair ,the main use of the site is not rating, but yeah you also rate games
anyway my top 3 games of this year are TotK, SMB Wonder, and then Arkham City
You can see other statistics shared on their feed
https://twitter.com/HowLongToBeat
To no one's surprise.
Yeah, when I say rating, I mean rating the game primarily for how long it takes to beat
i could have added Doom Eternal to my list but it's been on it for the past 3 years so i'm gonna choose to leave it off
Lol
Did you not like SMRPG?
i just keep playing it over and over
i like it but i havent finished it yet
yeah same, I foresee the "ToTK was boring" comments in 3 years from now
Yeah it’s made by users I forgot to say that. But yeah Metacritic and Open critic are better to use
It's already happening, I've already seen a few videos criticizing aspects of TOTK, which I think is about time really, not that those flaws or shortcomings make it a bad or terrible game but people definitely go crazy because of the hype
I wonder if a certain GTA game will suffer the same fate in 2 years from now. 👀
(the cracks are really starting to show in Rockstar's game design)
Happy birthday @GT!!!!!!!!!

real
the "help-" sent me
It was a perfect moment
I started Fallen Order but got a bit bored
and I'm not huge on soulslikes in general
Its starts a little slow but its fun so far for me!
Wait hang on a sec.
Its a souls game?
I like when games encourage you to fuck around and find out, rather than being super punishing
well yes
you spend the bulk of your time dodging and rolling, you lose part of your XP if you die until you can touch the enemy that killed you, you can only save in designated spots
If it quacks like a soulslike…
I mean, it is a little annoying but so far I’ve been able to progress.
the main difference is that you have actual difficulty options here, so you don't have to git gud as much
But there is also a story mode if you aren’t into the whole difficulty.
Yeah.
I picked Jedi Knight because I make terrible decisions.

I was on Jedi Master on my end
Jedi Grandmaster is the one that mimics Dark Souls difficulty, Jedi Master is still easier as I understand it
Grandmaster run when
Do you play it on PC Cali?
yes
Good save
