That's the game
I didn't optimize my build for that at all but yeah debla is a must
The boss is so vulnerable to debla of lights
You just skip all the annoying platforming, and even kill the sword in one shot
well, I actually like the fight
I think I did half my damage there with my sword and half with deblas
granted I'm not a big fan of chasing the flying sword around, so I think B2's final boss is an improvement
I'm looking forward to it
I guess I should clarify B2's has platforming, but imo it's a better balance anyway; iirc it has a single fixed set of platforms that appear whenever the ground becomes harmful and that's it, and it makes up for an always vulnerable weak point by essentially throwing more stuff at you
becomes ash
B2's platforming is a lot better though
"Vuestra penitencia ha terminado"
true, though for that boss only normal single jumps are relevant so that aspect's basically the same
No hablo Espanol
Double jumps are useful in case your first jump misses
Huge quality of life upgrade
true
I still prefer to play Blasphemous 1 without that double jump mod, but I get why it exists and why the randomizer supports it
The game world is made with one jump in mind so it makes sense
exactly
Kills a lot of the hazard related difficulty
now, only one game left to complete
...I forgot this boss also had a second phase
although I'm pleasantly surprised that I got through the first phase on my very first try, considering I haven't done this fight since my original Tunic playthrough
I don't know if you were present when I finished Blasph but I found the final boss to be so trippy
I can't remember if I was awake at the time or not
come to think of it all four of these games arguably have a trippy final boss
ok I need to actually focus on this fight lol
Crosscode is kind of a scifi 2D Zelda with an MMO theme
kingsway
this is getting out of hand. now there are two of them!
looks neat
all right, after 15 days, I am done with my crazy solo rando
looks like my play time in all four games was a surprisingly consistent 10-12 hours, despite the different levels of completion
Ay gamers
Far Cry 5: New Dawn Deluxe Edition Bundle is on sale on Xbox
From over a hundred to just under twenty
Y'all got 3 days to get it
TIL people hardcore argued over how Cait Sith should be pronounced in ffvii
it is pretty unclear tbf
I thought it was more obvious than Arceus
Somehow ffvii official twitter said "lol no"
I don't even remember an Arceus so I guess that's why not that one
~
though for me the bigger issue was always "Aeris"
wat
Arceus is a pokemon
oh
Which had an eternal debate of "how to pronounce it in English"
Ark-ee-us is how i pronounce it
Because the stupid game never supports voice acting
FOR SOME REASON
Feels like WIN95 to me.
Anyway
it does have that style and i quite like it
Cait Sith I thought would be like
Very obvious
Realized sometimes English ignores that
kate sith?
The cat-sìth (Scottish Gaelic: [kʰaʰt̪ ˈʃiː], plural cait-shìth), in Irish cat sí (Irish: [kat̪ˠ ˈʃiː]) is a fairy creature from Celtic mythology, said to resemble a large black cat with a white spot on its chest. Legend has it that the spectral cat haunts the Scottish Highlands. The legends surrounding this creature are more common in Scottish ...
It's closer to something like "Kett Shee" or "Caught Shee"
Since the name is Aruseusu the only correct way to say it is Ar-see-us otherwise you're wrong
ah, that is indeed way off how "cait sith" reads to me
The problem here is that unlike many pronunciation debates, it straight up has the original reference
And then
This happened
freaking embed
Like, well, it's not like English pronunciations always respect original pronunciation
oh, so the canon pronunciation is exactly what I originally guessed from the spelling, with zero knowledge of the origin
In japanese it's Ketto Shii so who cares at this point
everyone knows what you mean anyways if you say it either way
Same thing with Aeris
English is pretty good at butchering original pronunciations
I am honestly surprised that they decided to go with Kate Sihth, but then from what I've learned from interacting with Americans, I guess it is also a quite reasonable decision
Your word?
Our word
🇬🇧
It's not like they'll ever pronounce Ikea correctly
How do you expect a language to reproduce sounds that are not native to it?
Not correctly reproducing the sound and changing the pronunciation entirely are different matters.
Japanese language do butcher pronunciations a lot but also usually it's their best effort considering how limited their language is
To be fair it's not like it's impossible to pronounce ikea in english the ''proper'' way
i say Aerith idk why
You could just make up new phonemes
Arabic has extra phonemes allowing people to spell and pronounce English words
Like ڤ for V
Yep, it's an age-old argument and Square Enix never gave a definitive answer until now.
I need to beat FF7R on the PS5 to prepare for FF7R.
I need to do the same
I've started a new run recently but got distracted by another game, as I am wont to do.
Should get back to that now that part 2 is iminent.
im guessing there's going to be a third part
There will be, FF7 is a very long story.
yo what if they put Dirge Of Cerberus story in the third part lmao
And they're adding more to it. They announced the title for Part 3, didn't they?
They did.
Huh, I can see it working.
Then again I'm still in The Mines™️ so I can't say for sure
I love this game

ice sheet or extreme desert? no farther context provided
in a video game? ice, because that usually implies more unique mechanics
ice it is!
Good thing they are keeping Arkane hostage to fix this
I'm sure all 35 players are very happy to hear that
CD Projekt Red says it doesn't regret making Cyberpunk 2077 a first-person only game, compared to the third-person Witcher franchise, but has yet to make up its mind around Cyberpunk 2, codenamed Orion. https://bit.ly/3Q62JZc
why not both
A lot of animation they don't need to make when doing first person~
on the other hand, first-person needs more polish on the environments themselves, since you see them from a closer perspective
can't wait for them to release another one and for it to be a completely dysfunctional pile on release and then for them to bugfix a few things a year later and for people to say it was always the best game of the year
the xkcd Cutting edge got really vindicated with the 2.0 update 😛
they should split the difference and make the next game second person
You play as a person playing a video game
Hopefully they did learn how to do it, that said, Cyberpunk 2 will be handled by a new studio under CDPR and I seem to recall under a new engine so I don't know if any lesson will actually be retained between the two games
We'll see
Just wanna wish everyone a happy Detective Pikachu Returns friday

It would probably be best for them to utilize the best of both worlds and do a mix of first person and third person. It could be an interesting mashup

I think that’s because of Mr. Rocket Fella.
it's not you, it's X

This needs to be a normal mode.
im hoping it's Pac Man World 2 rerelease
Says “next” so I assume new game.
true
Somehow this video was still in my head, is it just me or most of them just look straight up worse?
Horizon especially
I will continue to not watch the AI face edits video since at best I won't get it and at worst it'll make me weirdly conscious of a thing that never bothered me before
Wow, those are all worse
Starfield is the only one I feel its kind of an improvement, and maybe Ryu
It's like they want less detail and more anime
Also make them all look even younger
I hate it
They all look just less interesting
Ryu is so iconic that he keeps his character even through the filter
Most of these are all just experiments rather than them coming out and saying they are improvements
That's a really shit mod
You get to stuff like say the Halo things and you can see the gigantic improvement
It's a mod? I have no idea what that is
They explicitly state they're "fixing" them
Idk halo is higher resolution but I don't know if it is an improvement
It's basically an anime filter
I feel like it still tone down the face in a way that isn't necessarily better
No, it's all taken from videos on youtube and they throw it into an AI
Idk, I just know that video was living rent free in my head in the past 24 hours
Ah, right. Probably for the clickbait purposes. They do comment in the video itself how there's a lot of the shadows and whatnot that are greatly improved (depending on the subject) but then there's a los of other things
And I had to think about why I felt it didn't help at all
Gen: it's worth watching the actual video itself for the explanations and comments, rather than just the results. They're not all OMG THIS IS INFINITELY BETTER
Alyx looks awful in that video
Like they even commented that the eyes just lose all life in the 'new' version
it's almost as bad as the Cinematic Mod
I mean, live by the clickbait, die by the clickbait
If you want to not be taken out of context don't clip chimp yourself
I assume I'm not the only one who avoids reading/watching most articles/videos posted online, even on Manechat, unless they're from a source I already know
It's a twitch thing, when people take clips that make a streamer look bad by purposefully clipping out the context
To make them look bad
Ahh
live by the Mario die by the mario
From what I gather on the tweet, it seems to be another CG/3d artist who found it interesting, and just cut it down to the results
I wanted to react with a Mario emoji but I have none
But yeah, a lot of the higher res ones don't really offer much, but this is what really struck me
As a still it isn't that bad, I didn't like it animated for some reason
But yeah it's a very different face
Animated looked better imo, except for the lip motion
this is what video games will look like in 2013
in all seriousness this does feel similar to a lot of the graphics comparisons people were doing when I was a teenager
in that I could either see the difference, and mostly didn't care, or I had to squint pretty hard to tell what the difference even was
who here plays microsoft flight simulator
Watching through Separate Ways DLC and I immediately noticed the remixes of the original RE4 themes like Ada's theme and the merchant's theme
and unlike the previous ones or even the safe room theme from Re3 these ones actually sound good and way closer to the original composition and sound

very nice
and also || Wesker says the complete globallocal saturation line || which was silly as shit
Listen to that
Man that's beautiful
was Separate Ways in the original RE4 ? i dont think i ever played it
pretty sure it was and I played it since I showed up late and it was out already
I remember there being this tiny Ada campaign that explained absolutely nothing
Yes there were like 2 extra Ada campaigns/gamemodes
The general gaming thread has now hit 100K messages!
Just finished titanfall 2 campaign. That was fun. Pilot view rather than titan view felt very fast paced
yeah titanfall 2 has an amazing campaign
what did you think of that level? the cool level?
That's a cool level indeed.
...which one?
RELEASE DATE: DECEMBER 8, 2023 PRE-ORDER POLICY: CANCELLATIONS ON THIS TITLE WILL ONLY BE OFFERED STORE CREDIT. Learn the way of the Force from Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, take control of a speeding Podracer, lead an elite squad of clones… Do all of this and more with the STAR WARS™ Heritage Pack! featuring seven class
Yeah that was pretty neat! Though I did also like the level later on where you get the ||arc gun thing||, the super high speed wall runs on the way back
yeah
i loved how every level had a unique gimmik, and every gimmik worked so well
you could build a whole game out of that level though, it was so smooth and well done
it was a textbook example of how to pace a traditional sequence-of-levels shooter campaign to get the most fun out of the game's systems
agreed
as much as I love the Halo campaigns, they've got a few segments that are a bit too slow or too hard or whatever
im going to try and play Hollow Knight again
And now, back to Cyberpunk 2077. I'd forgotten i'd installed titanfall 2 and finished it, since i saw the campaign's fairly short
💀
bro was literally 21 when the first cod came out lmao
Pfffft
Although to be fair, you can still "grow up" as an adult
So he is still technically correct, the best kind of correct.
lol
''It's not what I grew up with''
Something that can and has been said for nearly every franchise that has been a thing for the last 10-20 years
Do you have all the trophies?
I don't fully understand why I liked the Titanfall 2 ||time travel|| level so much. I need to replay it a few times and maybe play similar moments in other FPS games and see what the differences are that made it stand out in such a positive light.
Usually that sort of thing isn't done that well
i think there just arent similar levels, atleast not ones done as well as that one
honestly I think it's just a perfect example of how everyone likes puzzle elements in their action games, and it was a particular type of puzzle that somehow we'd never seen done before
Did you ever play the multiplayer?
I suspect the trick would've gotten old if they kept doing that for a whole game
Maybe the way it smoothly transitioned between states A and B is what made it work
And how it was coherent between the two
yeah
Now that I'm thinking about it more
That part was great
And gave me a "wow" moment
Which I did not expect from an FPS game
I've seen the same concept done in platformers but not in a fps, so it was cool
the level and the whole campaign in general exemplified the game's movement very well
Only TF1, I didn't try TF2 multiplayer
I'm kinda allergic to online multiplayer, tbh
Apparently titanfall 3 is being teased right now.
Oooo
They added a new mode in Titanfall 2
wow really
That can't be right
It was released right in between BF1 and Infinite Warfare
October 28, 2016
What the fuck
Was I just... not aware of it?
I didn't play it until 2021 or 2022
Wait when did TF1 come out, then? I thought that was like 2015 or 2016
2014, apparently?
What the fuck
Yeah at launch it got screwed over because respawn chose a hilariously bad release date
the community persisted though and over time by word of mouth it got popular again
Did it like... have early access?
I remember being furious about TF1 because it was multiplayer-only
oh yeah that
Great concept, but multiplayer-only made it DOA for me
I needed a campaign
I only play campaigns in these games
Halo's the only FPS game I will actually do multiplayer in and only a few times a year at best. I just... don't do it anymore.
it might actually have been the start of the backlash against multiplayer only games
Yeah, I think it was.
I rememebr it was a huge deal.
Battlefield was doing it too
Which also pissed me off
EA in general at the time actually said at one point that single-player experiences were dead.
But only in an earnings call, so nobody picked up on that
no, people picked that up
It wasn't until that tweet years later where people got angry
it was just after the canned a hyped star wars game
And then recently they made that tweet lmao https://vxtwitter.com/EA/status/1542652454159798272
Oh yeah, that too
YES they canned 1313 and that happened to be about when they said it
Killing 1313 drowned that out
wow I forgot about that tweet
They didn't delete it?!?!?!
WOW
the shortest possible answer to why I've shifted so heavily into indie games over the years
I thought 1313 was canned because Disney bought Star Wars and they completely destroyed Lucasarts
The fucking BALLS on these people

Larian Studios: "Allow us to introduce ourselves."
They kinda owned up to it?
https://vxtwitter.com/EA/status/1542706383694565378
Yes, that was the primary reason. Disney kept it going until they decided to axe all past Star Wars content that wasn't the movies as non-canon. 1313 got caught up in that. They specifically wanted to do something different for a mandalorian based character and that's where The Mandalorian show came from.
Yeah, the industry really got angry at that
Because it implied that devs working on single player games were subpar
yeah they got cory barlog on it and everything
Larian Studios: "Allow us to introd--" shot
here's a former visceral dude https://vxtwitter.com/zachulon/status/1542657615926218752
this just makes me sad
Yep
back when Visceral were working on a secret Star Wars project
EA got absolutely incinerated by customers and the industry alike
Well earned.
Wait, this was 2022???
This felt like it was so long ago.
Yeah
So my joke about Larian Studios was actually more on-point than I thought, lol
Yep
Remember when BG3 came out a ton of studio execs and some devs immediately started saying "this is an unusual game, it can't be used as a new standard, etc etc"
Microsoft called it unprofitable, iirc.

Before it was released to UNIVERSAL critical acclaim and paid for itself a dozen times over within the first week, lol.
tbf it's unlikely to have multiple BG3s in the market
Yeah
So the point does stand, it's just that BG3 was that good
BG3 games take a very long time to build
I love me a good Futurama reference
Yes, but we're not expecting BG3 to be the standard for all games, but rather the development team behind it to be the standard for developers.
Delivering high quality and actual passion to a mostly passion-less landscape.
Well a lot of times when a game looks low quality and unfinished it's not really developers' fault
Alright, then the development team plus the suits. You want more money and more buying customers? Then put out GOOD games. Less and less people will buy shitty games as time goes on, but more and more will continue to pay for good ones.
On one hand that’s kinda true. On the other, part of the problem is that it’s a lot easier said than done. Quantifying “good” is a hell of a thing.
Game doesn't break and massively underperform at the drop of a hat is a good start.
Looking at you, Jedi Survivor.
Part of game design is capturing some inherently abstract and subjective concepts.
Ha, yeah
Jedi Survivor crashes reliably when raytracing is on
I think a lot of gamers will be happy if things run well.
Meanwhile in The Pokemon Company...
F*ck whatever the Pokemon Company thinks is "good" or even "servicable" these days...
I have a hard time with Jedi Survivor because it crashes so much
I stopped playing because of that
So did most people
Which is unfortunate because it’s otherwise actually pretty good
a bare minimum before you even talk about "good" is that the game needs to run and be stable and not be full of the kind of bugs that cause problems actually playing
Indeed
then you can talk about things like balance, replayability, difficulty/challenge appropriateness, aesthetically pleasing, etc
It’s one critical cornerstone of a solid experience
It was a bloody miracle that Starfield wasn't one of these, considering Bethesda's track record.
I have thoughts on Starfield.
Nintendo games are usually pretty stable and bug free on release (disregarding Pokémon of course)
Which basically boils down to “Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty simply existing made Starfield unfun”
Yes, everyone does, lol.
But the point is it wasn't an unplayable mess like Fallout 76 or hilariously buggy like Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Fallout 4.
does Starfield have aliens
(I actually have a lot more thoughts on Starfield but that’s my most recent one)
Oh yes, and Cyberpunk...before the 2.0 update, they had a lot of ground to cover in fixing the community's trust.
Luckily they did
2.0 actually surprised me.
These days, it's best to promise nothing and deliver greatness, rather than promise the entire world and deliver only a tiny pebble.
Cyberpunk 2077 became very playable by the time their 1.6 patch came out, but 2.0 is much more like the game they were trying to make.
Genuine kudos to CDPR for their hard work on that.
Made the gameplay loop more fun.
Is it anything like that gameplay demo yet or
yeah i was definitly enjoying it way more than the first time i played
No, they never shipped a handful of those features and never will.
Wall running is not a thing, sadly
In-game transit system never worked right, so that never shipped
i wonder if cyberpunk 2078 will have those cancelled features
my main qualms about it were mainly due to the role playing and immersion aspects about it, like the menus, the world, and ripperdoc animations
Maybe! I sure hope so
They were fucking awesome
But I do want to say that 2077 gets by just fine without them
man 2078 doesn't roll off the tongue as well lol
It’ll be even cooler if they were there, but it still works
They’ve added some neat mobility features though
meanwhile Jedi Survivor ran perfectly fine for me only weeks after release
It's a similar story to No Man's Sky.
Initial release was garbage. But with every subsequent update, the game just began to explode with greatness. Nowadays it's considered an excellent game to play, and even a rival to Starfield. That development team is so underrated, man.
I tried playing it again last week, still crashes regularly
at some point it's just impossible to get a complicated piece of software to run flawlessly on every PC in the world
Try saying Spiderman 2100 instead of 2099
does Statfield have aliens
"Sounds like you need better hardware." -- Todd Howard
On a pretty vanilla Windows 11, latest drivers, i9-13900K, 4090, 32GB DDR5 RAM…
it sounds too weird
it'd be nice if we understood why and how to fix it but nobody has the resources for that, not even evil megacorps, even when they want to fix it
unless your computer is even weaker than my laptop I guess
I'm gonna need to snatch cyberpunk once it's on sale now that it's on a better state
and my laptop is relatively new and not cheap, but, it is a laptop still
does Cyberpunk have aliens
Just megacorps as powerful as governments
still at least they fixed it for a lot of players
So, Samsung
actually, better point to emphasize: if we all stopped buying games before they're worth playing, then they wouldn't keep releasing them in unplayable states
youre not the boss of me
Your mom's the boss of you. :P
I stopped buying games before I'm pretty sure they're good and also before they're discounted
(Sorry, had to.)
I do have the luxury of not waiting for discounts but not everyone does
Read that wrong
HOLLOW KNIGHT IS DONE
Now this makes no sense as a universal behavior because if nobody bought games with the pretense of waiting for a discount then games will simply go on sale immediately
But for me it works
But is Silksong?
I don't think I've ever personally had the experience of buying a game when it was too unfinished or underperforming to be worth playing and had to come back to it later; maybe I just don't play those genres or have better sources of information but I always seem to show up after those issues are resolved
well, that logic only holds if, roughly speaking, everyone has equal money
the main reason sales and other forms of "price discrimination" happen is that different customers are able and willing to pay different amounts
I’ve had this happen a few times. Usually I’m tolerant enough to be happy with what came out while the gamer discourse is sending death threats to devs for not being absolutely perfect.
But I raaaarely have experiences where a game is so bad I feel the need to return it for a refund. Redfall gave me that moment for the first time in a few years.
Yeah, and that's why it doesn't work as a universal behavior
But usually I just expect it to be fixed a bit down the road if there are problems at launch
Usually within a couple weeks
the only two times I remember getting refunds was when one of my previous, weaker laptops was flat out unable to play a game
and I ended up re-buying and playing those games years later anyway
I was tempted to demand a refund for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet though.
That one’s just unfixable.
I get refunds about once a year, because I like to give smaller indie games a try and sometimes they just suck
fair, I can't even find time for all the games I already know are good and interest me, so it's very rare I end up trying something that's risky in that sense
I've never requested a refund for a game, with the exception of Rocket League that dropped Linux support
(I bought it on a Steam sale 2 years prior to that, but never played it. Normally, a refund would not be allowed but exceptional circumstances made it possible for me to get a refund)
the game went free-to-play later on, so I guess it was a good move
also, I've just played a bit of the worst Steam game ever again. It doesn't feel like much has changed compared to earlier this year
You played Overwatch 2???
yeah. To be fair, it is much better than the review score suggests
the game didn't become suddenly worse because it got a 11% score on SteamDB
if there was no controversy around features or progression/monetization, it would be an easy 80%
probably the biggest gap I know of on Steam 🙂
satire is dead and we have killed it
I’ve also tried it. My thoughts on it are “Yep; it’s Overwatch.”
did the PvE mode ever release
what ?,,,,????
So now it’s OW but more microtransactions.
surely you jest
I do not.
Ergo the overwhelmingly negative reviews
this is the source of the aforementioned controversy that led to its review bombing
wtf 😭
They forced folks to buy the exact same game again, but with the promise of features they knew they wouldn't be able to deliver on
While also upping microtransactions
<insert the don't preorder games lecture>
Never played ow2 but from what I've seen of it a lot of it is super oof lol
Never played the original either
multiplayer shooters aren't my thing so I was never gonna play either, this is all
for me
The original is just an objectively worse team fortress 2
Ow2 is just ow1
Uh tbf ow2 is f2p so they didn't force people to 'buy'
wow, that little factoid got buried hard under all the negativity
OW1 wasn't F2P, right?
No you had to buy it
If you bought OW1 you got OW2 for free
Oooh
Or at least I did
I still can't believe OW1 won GOTY at the 2016 game awards lol
so stick to TF2 is what im hearing
wait TF2 has all the things Overwatch 2 promised wtf
OW2 is just free, regardless of if you bought OW1 or not
But yeah, OW2 reset all your unlocks and then put a bunch of previously accessible characters behind lootboxes
Never been a tf2 person tbh lol
Before fort the only shooters I would play was halo 3/reach/4
I think they gave you something if you purchased OW1
I’m not a TF2 fan either
I just did Halo, Bioshock, Battlefront and Battlefield campaigns
I never bought OW1, I started playing a bit of OW2 because it was F2P. Probably wouldn't have bought it for a lot of money if it was paid
I only play it occasionally, like 1 hour per month if you average it
I still prefer TF2 overall, but OW has its merits
More cute girls
Oh fuck off ubisoft
Pfffft haha
That's one way to deal with the Denuvo problem, I've never seen that done before
I disagree that TF2 is an objectively better version than OW for one.
I think OW is a much more interesting world and lore, and also, I bounced off hard the TF gameplay while I took quite well to OW.
That said, OW2 is kind of bullshit, even tho i must admit, it doesn't have lootboxes and is objectively less predatory than TF
The main problem is that it's just not rewarding to play
And it's still predatory, just less than TF, battlepass bullshit is still bad, just less bad
i find TF2's wacky and bizarre version of the world more interesting/funny but to each their own i guess
Oh yeah, it's definitely subjective
just like, the lore tidbit about how before Abraham Lincoln invented stairs everyone just rocket jumped everywhere is so fucking funny to me
Honestly even after Valve retroactively added crates into TF2 I still never found them to be as much of an issue as with other games at all
I never felt compelled to actually start buying them and the actual items that matter which is mostly weapons you can acquire normally you just kinda get them, and if you get duplicates you can turn them to scraps and BUILD your own cosmetics 4 free
I've actually done that once or twice and got some alright cosmetics
I mean, it's still objectively more predatory, you can even gamble those items in 3rd party markets.
subjectively they can affect your experiences less, and I fully agree that TF2 is probably a more rewarding experience than OW2, it's not hard, OW2 sucks, but that's besides the point
My problem was specifically on the "objectively" part of this statement.
TF2 is definitely not a bad game, but there are plenty of reasons to like it less than OW2
Even tho I defintiely think OW2 deserves to die as a game, blizzard mismanagement of it is legendary
Really snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with that one
You know I realised, everything becoming a live service was actually the worst thing that could have happened to a company like blizzrd.
They put out pretty good games when they have to, but are terrible at supporting them long term, and this new industry focuses on their shortcomings so hard.
Thanks Konami, I hate it
Just what Silent Hill needed
Why does silent hill of all things need a season pass lmao
The worst part is seeing people who actually defend this and think SH fans are just whiny bullies for shitting on this
Konami through all their business decisions and how their social media is run just feels so out of touch as if it was still 10 years ago
As if they were good 10 years ago
They weren't, that's the point
All Silent Hill fans can t wait for the Silent Hill 2 Remake, I am sure 👀 🤩
They were never good
Forgot the release date
With Silent Hill in specific I can't believe anyone could ever in good faith defend Konami after they've made it so unbelievably clear they not only never cared about SH but actively tried to mess with it multiple times and straight up ruined multiple projects
SH3 was originally gonna be an arcade shooter because Konami wanted that, Shattered Memories was originally going to be a much more involved survival horror game rather than the pseudo remake/reimagining of SH1 that it ended up being, Homecoming was actually going to go much more into the aspects of SH2 but Konami actively asked the team to change everything which is why we ended up getting what we got in that game
There's even quotes of an artist from that game who said if you want to blame anyone for Homecoming blame Konami because the game ended up being completely different from what it was going to be originally
It's silent hill because it's the one franchise they haven't completely burned to the ground yet, not because the model makes sense with the game
When the only good thing Konami does nowadays is share space for Nihon Falcom to show off their games and have performances for the Falcom idk Band at their stand at the Tokyo Game Show…
Their e3 conference, never forget
Not that it wouldn't have gotten negative reviews anyway, but some folks analyzed the reviews and well over half of them seem to be chinese reviews who are complaining about how they can no longer access blizzard stuff legitimately (WOW and diablo mostly) due to the licensing thing ending
"I can't buy this game." Is not a legitimate review of the game, but a review of the seller.
"I bought this game and no longer can play it" is a legitimate review of the game even though it says nothing about the game itself
Mmm, tastes like lawsuit
Flitter: yes, but as I said, this applies to Diablo and WoW. These chinese reviews are abusing the fact that OW2 is F2P and can be reviewed with little trouble. They're mass downvoting because they can't play the games they bought, yes, but it's not the game being reviewed. It's a seller review and so aren't really legitimate, but there's admittedly no other recourse since it was the only Blizz game on steam
Not saying they're wrong to make the reviews but, I really have to wonder what % score it would have just based on actual players' reviews rather than a carpet bombing of downvotes for a different issue caused by seller
in the end it's just another example of how publicly crowdsourced reviews will quickly be dominated by selection bias effects
Excellent
It was 50/50 on OW2, or at some point it was, there's away to sort from location I believe.
There's so many reasons to be upset at OW2, more than Diablo and WoW.
I suspect D4 will at least get a better steam rating.
Mostly because of the need to buy it first
Oh absolutely. Not denying it deserves a poor seller score, at the very least, for the OW2 decisions themselves. But reviewing it poorly because of other games is just not legitimate reviews
holy shit is that a motherfu*king MLP reference?
Obviously?

"It's time to plant flowers and chew bubblegum. But I'm all out of gum!"
that image always felt very detached from what's actually in the level to me
but yeah, it's iconic. A good 50% of players have played that level first in SM64
(do we have any statistics? You can choose from 2 levels initially, but I'd wager one of them is more popular because of human intuition or speedrunning habits)
God it has been a WHILE since I touched 64, but I'm decently sure Bob omb is the only one accessable initially
I think it's just the foyer camera angle making everyone see the left doors first
but I do not remember how the castle progression worked
Yeah, the camera probably helped with that association
If it's possible to go anywhere other than Bob-Omb Battlefield first I bet that would be news to almost everyone who played SM64
and given how throughrly raked over the coals that game has been over the years...
You know, in a loving way, of course.
Too Human is free on XBL http://bit.ly/3J0Ep48

Oh hell yeah
It's pretty funny how it has way more content and hours put into it than RE3R entirely lol
It's basically RE4 B scenario it's actually pretty decent length for a DLC of its price
also way better than OG Separate Ways and it adds a bunch of the '''''cut'''' content from base RE4R that Leon originally had
Which I think was pretty obvious that Ada was gonna get that stuff

I'm wanting to get into gaming again, but I'm really unsure on what games to play. I go to play a game, and I sorta just sit at my computer like
I don't know any modern games that I feel like trying, and maybe I need some suggestions. My favourite kind of games are co-op shooters like Payday 2 and L4D2, but generally love shooters in general.
I think the weirdest thing, is that even though while I've been saying 'I have quit gaming', I've still watched some gaming videos on youtube and wanted to play games a little
Yeah I remember seeing that.

Shweet. So my 6 year old gaming laptop uses a 200w power brick for charging (with max power settings). However, for my upcoming looooong distance flight, I know for a fact that the power sockets only give 75w. If you try to draw more, you get 0. I managed to find a 75w power brick to use on the plane (it won't really charge, but at lowest power settings it won't drain either so i should have a constant power level). Been exploring some games to play on it during the flight. Vampirue survivors for example, and other similarly pixel-level graphics stuff. However I just tried persona 5 Royal... and it seems to work just fine and not drain the battery. I'm guessing those hours of flying will, well, fly by real quick

I wanna know if they discuss Dyson Sphere Program since it has my favorite space navigation.
doesn't look like it, the modern games it devotes large time blocks to are Starfield, No Man's Sky and Elite: Dangerous; DSP would probably fall in the "indie explosion of space-themed games in a million genres" segment he goes through fairly quickly and "only" lists a few dozen examples
That's fine. There isn't much to explore in DSP, so it doesn't really fit the thesis.

Oh very cool
I wonder if this re-release is a response to DBrand's plates, like if they made the most basic plates and then copyright it.
I do like the modularity though.
Mythic Dawn armor
Credit: @Borx25 3D
There is absolutely no way they would do the huge amount of engineering work required for this over some dbrand side plates.
(Also not really how copyright works.)
Didn't this happen tho
Yeah that sent cease and desists when it first came out to plate companies
Classic dbrand moment
Sony Probably saves alot of money not including the blue ray drive by default
You don't need to agree or disagree every time I write a 'bad' theory, but yes it might not be that. Also sorry for not using 'patent violation' I guess?
I think most can understand what I meant by 'copyright' but yeah, patent violation because for some reason that's a thing with a bunch of plastic plates.
I think it's actually trademark.
which I find silly honestly, Sony getting mad for a bunch of plastic plates but hey gotta protect intellectual rights or trademarks whatever.
Trademark or not, its a bunch of plastic plates lol.
We're a MLP server. It should be known that TM matter to plastics
Trademark this silicon valley plastic plate.
Apple™️ Cloth Pro
100% more plastic.
"But somehow its still cloth"
I mean I don't disagree that it's a pretty silly thing to have made a fuss over in the first place. Though dbrand was not helping by liberally spraying things it knew were trademarks everywhere.
I mean I guess, but I also don't think Dbrand would have thought that Sony would get outright pissed but there was a prior example of it with a small player.
They literally said "we dare you to sue us"
Yes, after that player got shot down.
Like Darkplates was still in development when that occured I think.
In any case, I would be willing to bet that the cost of re-designing the PS5 like this exceeds the lifetime revenue from the darkplates.
Honestly I don't even know why a redesign considering PS5's life is almost over.
Its rumored to only last six years.
Even if true that would make it less than half-over.
I guess, still woulda like a steeper price drop lmao.
But they're already losing a lot I suppose.
Digital Edition being modular is super nice though.
A mid-cycle refresh at this time makes sense
It's about in line with the timing of the PS4 Pro and such
Yeah but if you wanted a PS5 so bad during the pandemic, and then just now the stock is somewhat better now... its been almost three years and somewhat unwise to pay full price.
You're better off buying used.
But I guess some folks really love the freshness of new.
But hey whatever, I am cheap.
Unless it demands expense.

Time to run around town buck naked!
Though would be funnier if the npcs actually reacted to it
I suppose people running around naked is normal for them

the steam storefront sells more than just games, so that selection includes everything they sell
and seeing as its just one thing, i dont really see much issue there. if steam started selling 100 different physical things, i'd take issue and ask for a new place to display them
Yeah but the top seller list is explicitly marked for games: https://i.imgur.com/rFEk3kC.png
i guess, but for the, what, 4? physical things steam sells, its fine for them to go there too. otherwise there would be a hardware category for the steam link, steam controller, index and steam deck
and that seems silly
They could also just not put hardware in the top sellers at all. Or sort by actual number of sales, which is sort of what one might expect "top sellers" to be.
The other big marketplaces split out "top selling" and "top grossing"; steam only has top grossing but labels it as top selling.
top sellers is by revenue
right i walked past how weird that is
you're right about that
i dont like that at all
