It allows Limited Run to put out highly accurate, emulation-based ports of classic games for modern hardware.

So the entire engine is emulating the games, but hacks the games with a bunch of... oh god this is messy. But I admire the authenticity! At least it'll feel like the original because it IS the original.

This implies however that Limited Run is now a company who develops and publishes games. I presume some exclusivity contract is given if you use Carbon Engine.

I do like how they sorta fixed the amount of evilness in the BG3 party. When it was early on in the early access, almost all of them were evil or some varying degree of morally dark grey, and even if you tried to be a good guy, the game would steer you towards being a morally grey individual.

But now, if the latest playtesting is to be believed, you can have a clearly defined good path, and a clearly defined evil path, and lots of clearly defined morally grey paths. And your companions aren't nearly as evil as before, yet still have just enough ambiguity to go either way, just like how it was in D:OS2.

I like that. Larian Studios listens to player feedback and it shows. :)

And honestly, that was the big thing holding me back before from considering getting the game, but now that it's no longer an issue, I'm happy to play it and be just as amazed as everyone else.

The only other thing I can still say I'm not a fan of is the 3rd-person cutscenes/dialogue tree. The animations for them are very...off. I get that it's a limitation of the engine, but still, I feel like they should've just kept going with the D:OS1 + 2 dialogue tree style, and saved the 3rd-person stuff for actual cutscenes.

I disagree, having played both...quite a bit (after all I got Oblivion when it came out). Skyrim more, which is saying something. In principle I should like both, in practice Oblivion is missing something.
