Meanwhile Starfield had the chance of making planets loop around but apparently there are 'fixed landing points' meaning no atmosphere landing... just cutscenes.

it's not pretentious because the stories take themselves too seriously but rather his style can get pretentious because of how much it seems to revel in being extremely silly and sometimes contrived, a lot of times I found myself rolling my eyes and going ''aaaaalright'' when going through Death Stranding, it's a bit hard to explain for anyone who isn't familiar with his work and I'm not finding the correct way to explain it

There's a high elf vampire who doesn't give a shit about anyone, a Gith warrior who doesn't give a shit about anyone, a human warlock who tries to give a shit but is kinda chained to a demon, a half-elf cleric who worships an evil god, and a human wizard who really only cares about power.

I gotta say, I had some of THE coolest video game fights in my entire life while playing D:OS2. To date, it is the only CRPG that made me truly examine every single angle of how I tactically approach a fight, from character positioning to terrain advantage to which spells to have on hand and when to use them for maximum effect. It's also the only CRPG that actually made me terrified at certain points in the game, due to you having to be extremely stealthy and very careful where you step, or else you trigger Very Bad Things™️ to happen.

There's a certain point where you and all your companions are split apart from each other in a mess of infested caverns containing very tough enemies, and you have to control each character separately in order to reunite them and escape the caverns. It took me many hours and many, MANY failures to get it right, and it was incredibly nerve-wracking, since one of your characters will always spawn in the very heart of the infestation nest.
But it was ooooooh SO satisfying to return to that same nest after you reunite the party and burn it to ash.

So, apparently my family on my dad's side is descended from some minor French noble/knight who went down to join the Crusades, and ended up staying in Syria where he found a wife (don't ask, I don't know how it actually happened) and settled down. Eventually, several different groups of the family split off to go all over the world, some taking on the old French name, while others adopting a more Arabic version of it. My dad's side of the family was the Arabic name side.
My dad's family decided to move to Canada (Quebec, specifically), whereupon they realized that if they adopted the old French name, people wouldn't be as xenophobic towards them, so we were back to using the French name. Then my dad decided to visit France, where he met my mom (the German side of me, who is also actually descended from a minor Prussian noble, but I don't know as much about him), and they got married and moved back to North America. After nine other kids and a lot of travelling, they had me in Ottawa, so I am effectively a Canadian born with a French name with Arabic and German heritage and descended from minor nobility on both ends, Prussian on one and French on the other. (There's a coat of arms on both sides of the family proving the lineage.)
One of my brothers was the one who traced the lineage back that far, and he's an avid fan of history and was very thorough.

The constant menu switching is probably just a consequence of that game's mechanics that the others didn't have, I don't really know how you'd streamline the process of the whole menus when it comes to the food and camouflage and patching yourself up etc etc, it's kinda tedious but at the same time I guess it kinda connects you with the experience of being a one man soldier on the field like that
I generally don't think many games really ''need'' remakes as much as people simply want games to be remade, MGS1 and 3 are perfectly enjoyable nowadays and I'm glad they're releasing a new collection to make them accessible now because they're still incredible

I haven't played 4 but I have played dozens of hours of PW in my PSP and if the gameplay is anything similar then 5 definitely feels like an expansion on that gameplay
MGSV was like BOTW when it came out the amount of player freedom and expression is still insane , all of the MGS are pretty excellent games despite a lot of people mostly kojima haters always saying they're more like interactive movies

for various reasons in Ground Zeroes Snake moves slower so your movements end up having to be a lot more deliberate than in Phantom Pain, and enemies tend to be more aggressive with their vision cones and their alerts, you also don't have many resources as it is and you can't exactly just call a supply drop so you have to really strategize and make up a plan

It does, it was always very overhated for no really good reason because it never really attempted to mimic MGS' legacy or retroactively mess up the story and they went with a more unique way of doing things for Raiden specifically
I remember a lot of people saying it ruined Raiden's ending from MGS4 where he settles down and stops fighting and while I can see that because MGS4 reeeeaally tries to finally wrap the entire damn story up for once I can also understand that Raiden would never be able to settle down
