How about good lawful evil ol' Regill from Wrath of the Righteous? Look at this motherf*cker.
Ugh, bad compression on that image. Let me find a better one.
There we go
I think the art style also changed a bit between games. It got more refined and less cartoony. In some ways, anyway.
If you think that's good, hohohohoho~
I can't f*cking wait to finish Kingmaker so I can move on to its reportedly much-improved and vastly superior sequel, Wrath of the Righteous.
It's gonna be wild, man.
Tell me how that is - I got a bit too frustrated by some fights, though it almost sounds like I might've been in some areas too early ( ||a temple and fighting some... ghost bear or something?|| and quit the game what sounds like fairly early on
Did you ever get around to pillars of eternity 1 and/or 2 ? I forget
Also, Nire, just for you: meet Arueshalae, bisexual chaotic good Succubus. And yes, you can romance her in-game.
Fellow Aria of Sorrow fans know this suffering
Oh man, you quit veeeeeeery early on. Yeah, the early game for Kingmaker is extremely rough and often unfair, since you're scrounging for any weapon or armor you can find, and a lot of the enemies can get pretty tough even on normal difficulty. But if you stick with it, you'll eventually get MUCH better equipment, some epic party members that can tank hits for you so you aren't fighting frantically anymore, and also you'll be swimming in cash like Scrooge McDuck.
I'm I think about 2/3rds through the game so far, at about 90-ish hours.
If there's two things I can say that I dislike about Kingmaker though, it's the balancing issues with some enemies, and also quite a bit of the kingdom management system. Frankly...it's bugged. It's very bugged, and it definitely needed more work before it was ready to be released. If you set the kingdom to auto, you can pretty much go through the game as normal and get back to adventuring, but every so often you still have to return to your capital for certain events, or else the game will punish you for it and you get a game over, which imo isn't very good.
If you can get past all that though, the CRPG elements of the game are quite honestly fantastic and mostly well-polished. I'm not finished with the story yet though so I can't exactly give my full thoughts on it yet.
Overall, it's a 7.5/10 experience for me so far. Some really great CRPG stuff that is slowed down and held back by a clearly unfinished kingdom management system that more often than not screws you over, even if you do everything right.
From what I've heard though, Wrath of the Righteous is straight up a 10/10, since it takes everything that was good about Kingmaker and apparently makes it 10 times better, but I'll have to see that for myself when I play it.
I didn't start Pillars of Eternity 1, although I probably should. I started 2 before, and I remember enjoying it, but I think I was just burnt out on CRPGs for a bit after basically binge-playing Original Sin 2 from start to finish in like a week or so, lol.
If the first game is on sale I'll get it, but I want to restart the second game, since I forget completely where I was before, all I know was that it was still very early on so not much progress will be lost.
how
yeah, i can get the binge part
and hm, I might give it another chance then
Honestly Tcher, if you want to deal with less headaches between balancing issues and kingdom management, play Wrath of the Righteous. It has sooooo many improvements. For example, in Kingmaker, you can't turn the camera, so in combat or in exploration you're always on a fixed angle that can get awkward at certain points, particularly cave systems. But in Wrath of the Righteous, you can turn the camera 360 degrees like in Original Sin 1 and 2, the combat is much more fluid, and the kingdom elements are gone, replaced by a reportedly much better army management (which is sorta similar to Heroes of Might and Magic 3 battles).
See, in Kingmaker, you're building and running a kingdom, so it's more about diplomacy and trying to keep your people calm in a crisis. But in Wrath of the Righteous, you're building and running a crusade that's slowly losing ground against a demon invasion, and you need to bring the world back from the brink, so it's more about combat, intense boss battles, armies versus armies, and moral ambiguity.
I prefer fixed angle camera in many circumstances, because the developers can make sure everything looks right using that angle, but it does take work to implement properly
It mostly works in Kingmaker, but again, in caves or tight spaces, it can get a little annoying.
and my experience with 100% fixed angle games is that they get it wrong often enough I'd rather they save it for when they really do have a "right" angle in mind
Personally, I prefer the 360 degree camera rotation. It made combat in Original Sin 2 soooooooo much more fun and dynamic.
I'm torn
The problem there, I have kingmaker, and don't have wrath
Generally I think it's fine to have one angle, because then that angle is good. In some games with mroe 2.5d, there are situations where there just. . . isn't a good angle
I did love Kingmaker and the diplomacy aspects. I think i got bogged down late in some of the last couple quests
But that's less the games fault
Streaming 1 Ball WR attempts on MLP Pionball
@gaunt marten @quiet swift
Only 9% of Kingmaker players have ever actually finished it.
RIP.
huh, I thought I'd seen higher than that
why
I should look at the numbers for stuff in my library later
why do people buy games then not finish them
well ultimately none of us finish every game we start playing
(they said hypocritically)
my completion rate is probably way above average and I doubt it's even 90%
Steam counts the very first time you launch the game as having played it
Most people play videogames for ten hours or so, and most games of that type are 20-80 hours
I currently have 104 hours on Kingmaker.
oh, where's that ten hour figure from?
Apparently me
that's achievement completion, right? not beat the game completion?
That's 100% achievement completion
Yeah, I don't think steam has a game completion metric other than counting a high number of achievement percentage as completing it
TO THE MOON MENTIONED !!!ππππ£οΈπ£οΈπ£οΈπ£οΈπππππ¨π¨π¨π₯π₯π₯πππ
right, we found before that most of my 100% achievements games are just ones with very few achievements
"gebbq"????
Avg. Game Completion Rate counts how many of your achievements in total are achieved versus how many exist.
My 10 hour guess is based on the number of unfinished games (but played) people tend to have in combination with finished game stats from https://howlongtobeat.com/stats
to my mind, "finishing" a game just means beating the main campaign, not getting 100% of achievements. I find achievement-driven gaming to be considerably less interesting.
I think most people feel that way
especially after playing games that had achievements for different modes (like Left 4 Dead had campaign and versus achievements) and that added achievements for new content and such (L4D also did this) ... like, no, I can't go from "finished" to "not finished" just bc the game updated
I find achievement driven gameplay more interesting, but I'm not driven to achieve everything a game has to offer. Achievements are interesting ways to look at the game, suggested by the developers
Huh, Wrath has an even higher completion rate than Kingmaker, by quite a bit even:
achievements are an interesting discovery mechanism
Most games will have a "you beat the game!" achievement though, so i can see the logic behind using them that way, to a degree
a way of saying "here's something you can accomplish in this game" that can help you understand what's out there. But I'm not a fan of achievement-farming or of games that have lots of achievements just because they can.

mm-hmm, my experience is that in almost every game, there are some achievements which would not be fun at all to get, and most of the achievements that do look fun I already got without looking at the external list (though often there was an in-game quest list of some kind)
personally I've "completed" (as in, main campaign / story mode) almost 100% of the games I've bought and played (not counting "bought a bundle and only was interested in some of the games, never opened the others" kind of thing.) If I like a game enough to buy it, I rarely fail to finish it.
Lol, there's 6 secret achievements and one regular achievement in Wrath of the Righteous that nobody has gotten yet:
I generally aim for that, but there's always a handful that either stop being fun later on or that I was liking but get interrupted enough that I lose all momentum in them (I still haven't finished Magicka or Baba Is You or my Ninja Gaiden replay for example)
0% doesn't mean nobody. It means so few people that it's rounded down to 0%
Oh
there are a lot of games that I've gotten 100% of the achievements for a particular game mode, but not 100% for the whole game
Probably less than 0.05%
Damn
the UI should really say <0.01% or something for that
like I had all of the campaign achievements in L4D at one point, and I had all of the Wings of Liberty achievements in SC2 (yes, including Brutal Completionist.)
It should, but it doesn't
Baba Is You in particular is a good example of a game that's extremely hard to "just do the rest of"; the last few times I tried to make progress I got stuck everywhere, and if I'm not in the right frame of mind to stand a chance at super hard puzzles then throwing more time at it won't change that
(looking up all the answers doesn't count)
yeah, the end puzzles can be really challenging
watching Michael do them was a real treat
For me, I play games for 40 hours on average, and around 35% of my games
(prices indicate market value and not actual amount of money paid)
oh, my profile's private?
No it's friends only
Yes but I live in Saudi Arabia where I often got significant regional discounts
Divide account value by four to get reasonable numbers
Why do you have a hundred messages?
If you use the SteamDB or Isthereanydeal browser extension you can two click sell each card
Alternatively, I'll take them off your hands!
lol, if these things help you afford more games, sure why not
The one to five cents per card add up
looks like I have over 300 cards
You ought sell your booster packs though. They're worth around 20-80 cents each
yeah I just have no idea how any of this works
you should probably walk me through it
Okay!
The Steam Marketplace is a place where you sell "marketable" inventory items to other players.
You set your own price, and players can browse the market to buy from you. You get 85% of the money in the form of Steam Wallet money
And Valve takes back 15%
To sell an item, you select it in your inventory and click sell https://i.imgur.com/UtBn16J.png
From there, you get to set your price https://i.imgur.com/F1MCilU.png
Ah I have a bunch of these cards that I never do anything with too
(The quick sell and instant sell buttons are added by an extension. They automatically set your price to the highest autobuy price or the lowest sell price on the market currently)
Usually, I do Quick Sell https://i.imgur.com/iJcwKQm.png
Unless Instant Sell is one cent off
When someone buys the cards, you get the money automatically in your steam wallet, and an email informing you of the purchase.
If you make more than 100 dollars in a calendar year you may be required to fill some US paperwork before you can sell more.
The minimum you can earn from a sale is one cent, so if an item has many copies in the market, setting it to sell for the minimum price may mean it never gets sold.
Market items are FIFO processed when at equal prices
I'm with you so far
That's it
oh
Final note: You may be required to use the mobile authenticator or wait seven days after a trade or sale before you can access your items.
ok I was expecting a way to simply give this stuff to you
You can do that through this interface https://i.imgur.com/WR0xe1R.png
ah
Trade and market are different interfaces. Trade has items for items. Market is items for money.
If you don't want any of your cards, I can set up a trade asking for all of them. Otherwise, you can set up the trade offering your unwanted cards
Details on how you get cards:
A randomized amount of playtime into a game you may be awarded playing cards for that game. The cards you get are random cards, up to half the number of cards the game has (rounded down)
At random, you may also be awarded booster packs for games in your library. The number of booster packs you get is increased if you have spent your cards to craft badges for the games, (but it's negative value overall)
oh boy, I have to click and drag each card individually
Yes, it's less work to sell them
Why would anyone want to buy these cards for?
iiuc selling would still involve clicking on each one separately
Make badges. Badges increase your steam level allowing you to have more friends
Selling involves two clicks for each card, and one click extra for each page change
But no drag and dropping so it's faster
You do not have to receive something last I checked, but it warns you that it's a one way trade
i legit dont get it
oh this checkbox lets me bypass that warning
It's just a way for valve to get more money out of users.
Seems to work just fine, but are you sure you wanna send over your more valuable foil cards and booster packs? These can be as valuable as a dollar each.
yeah I'm sure
kek
You can filter them out using the advanced filters https://i.imgur.com/4hb2EZO.png
Tale causes problems on purpose
for me the bottleneck on gaming is time, not money
if this overly convoluted pile of Steam gift cards can be transferred, might as well transfer it to someone for whom money is the bottleneck so it's doing some good
did you see a card you really wanted?
if I want badges I just buy the cards I don't have for the same reason
(ftr I was also kidding)
what are badges for
what does it mean
Badges give you EXP, and EXP upgrades your steam level
how does this keep happening multiple times a day
The higher your steam level, the more friends you can have
ok what is epeen
It's like who's got the biggest penis competitions
why does it matter
since men overcompensated? lol
People are dumb
it does not make sense no
The amount of friends that can be added to your list is initially capped at 250. Leveling your Steam profile increases the cap by 5 friends for every level earned.
i dont even have 250 friends irl
because the secret to making more friends is crafting recipes
Yeah, thanks to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunbar's_number
I don't think anyone can have that many without a very weak definition of the word
at most i probably have 50 friends
And so, badges are pointless
maybe even less
should i replay Half Life 2 maybe
Yes
The highest steam level is https://steamcommunity.com/id/St4ck/ at 5001
See, but what does this shape look like
i think i will play on easy this time

An icecream cone.
Both good answers
And probably funnier for you both to not acknowlege the actual joke
If I was writing this interaction into a sitcom
It's a reverse funnel
i assume you were implying it looks like a penis but if someone has a penis that looks like that they should see their doctor
That's what she said
I'm not aware of any animal penis shaped like that either
They don't have enough badge levels to add their doctor to their friend list
im wondering how many times we can say penis until someone yells at us
maybe if we censor it
penice
did you forget we're mods again

@static bluff The game is no longer being developed, so it's the perfect time to buy it
This may be the last update for One Step from Eden. If there's one way you want to support us, please leave us a review on Steam!
oh I don't know this one
I had a lot of fun with it
It's a Megaman Battle Network style game
wait no Flitter told me about this once, nvm
Very hard. Roguelike mechanics (no roguelite)
yeah not for me
I'm having terrible luck with making time for Valhalla, still only 1.5 days in
So you haven't met Dorothy yet?
the correct spelling takes a lot longer lol
she's the android in adult entertainment, right?

there were more than a few times with her I had to stop and reread the lines to make sure I hadn't wildly mistranslated something
I'm surprised I still haven't played Valhalla

an Aqua emoji is too fitting lol
I love how the first thing Dana does upon finding a stranger's helmet is just

one step from eden is graet, it has some pretty nice mod support too

they'll just call it tf2: source 2 lmao
Team Fortress 2: Episode Two
especially since how I feel like the 2 in counter strike 2 is more to reference source 2 than anything else
It is
Left 4 dead 3 lol
That's why it's called 2

also I would love to see L4D3 honestly
Well they did recommend 32 gb of ram for it
I didn't like B4B
So wtf
well there you go lol
Someone else is cultured heh
I feel like everyone forgot how much a failure evolve was and how they were the same guys who made that
the marketing was funny on how they completely ignore it and still say "from the creators of l4d"
Unfortunately, early word from PC players on Steam is that The Last of Us Part 1's "best shape" is nowhere near good enough, with Steam reviews (reflected in similar reports on The Last of Us subreddit) pointing to a host of technical issues, including inconsistent frame rates, regular crashes, stuttering, long load times, and poor optimisation - even on high-end hardware.
''From the creators of L4D!!!''
Aka like, a handful of people from the original team
Evolve was fine when it went F2P
But making live service games with a $60 price tag is no longer a winning strategy
Even cod had a f2p multiplayer mode now
I don't remember exactly what it was that killed Evolve
I remember at the time it seemed like a fun concept that could've taken off

that reminds me, I reinstalled TF2 with mastercomfig the other day
yay for mat_picmip -10 being allowed again, no more ugly textures while they're streaming π
Cali we should play TF2 together sometime
with me too
i am heavy weapons guy
soldier is a dime a dozen otherwise i'd play him a lot. i dont like to add to an already large, oversaturated number of one character.
oh fair
i am your resident pubstomper
Soldier is probably popular because he isn't too hard to play well
rockets have lots of splash damage
i like heavy because he's tanky, does huge damage, and despite the fact he's technically very easy to play, the difference between a new and veteran heavy is VERY noticeable.
oh, and i will always rush straight for a minigun if it appears in a game.
i cant play Heavy he's too slow for me
yeah
I play a lot of Scout and medic
we can play on funny maps
im fine with it, but like, he's easy pickings for snipers
scout because he go vrooom, medic because nobody else plays it but you need one to win
do you guys know any fun Tf2 maps
(meanwhile with teams having 4 snipers and 4 spiesβ¦
)
for tank classes, I tend to play heavy the most followed by pyro
PYRO MENTIONED πππππ£οΈπ£οΈπ£οΈπ£οΈπ£οΈπ£οΈπ₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯
pyro is my most played class
to be fair, 2fort kind of sucks in terms of level design, I feel most of its purpose is nostalgia value
low skill floor and extremely high skill ceiling
it's the cs_office of TF2
uncle dane made a whole video on why 2fort sucks lol
and he's right if you're trying to play the objective
if you're just messing around, it's great
I do try to play the objective and it's painful, it requires a lot of trial and error to even touch the enemy flag
lol
I am a full objective guy
if i play seriously i get angy
it tends to involve switching classes just so you can sap a sentry, die, then respawn as scout and move quick enough
do you guys like Harvest
(class switching for strategic reasons is part of the game, but 2fort is where I feel I have to do this the most)
I've found good ways to destroy sentries in common spots in payload maps just by using soldier
and nobody knows them
harvest is cool
koth is pretty fun from time to time
yeah it's fine
anyway I'd love to play with manechatters, so here is my profile https://steamcommunity.com/id/Toffrox

Yeah, back when humble gave steam keys for every game even if you spent a cent
is omega you flitter?
Yes!
cool
Basically no reason not to buy bundles back then
twas the peak of bundle culture
Steam sales also used to be more interesting, with games dropping in price more quickly
we all got at least one bundle that we never intended to play even half the games in
inflation and modern trends are making this less of a thing
mm-hmm, the market had to stabilize eventually

yeah 3rd party key sellers give better sales most of the time
Fanatical is a pretty good one
My library is inflated with free giveaway events from r/freegamefindings
Just make sure you don't use grey market resellers that dabble in stolen credit cards
they say they get keys from publishers
Fanatical isn't grey market
Fanatical is fine
g2a is yeah

Alright!
New 1650 gtx gpu, new i5 processor, and went from 8 gb ram to 24 gb ram
no SSD yet though, gonna install that one tomorrow lol but still
first thing I did was test some games and wow
yeah that's an upgrade all right
we are so back
my brother explained to me that I'd have to re install all programs once I install the SSD and the OS in the SSD and he explained to me how it works but I don't think I fully understood
he said that none of my files or anything are gonna get deleted so that's the important part to me
No
You can clone your HDD using a disk cloning tool
That way you won't reinstall anything
Everything will work immediately
Try this guide for example
https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/copy-your-windows-installation-to-an-ssd
I'll take a look and bring it up to him to see if he knows about this
I'm not too bothered by having to reinstall stuff though, but yeah it would be nice to not have to do that
Oh wow, the difference is super clear, I'm playing DMC5 on ultra settings and I can use the browser and even chat here just fine

wow
I'm glad it's working great for you
I also tried Hi Fi Rush on high which didn't run at all before, it ran super slow and jittery
it now runs perfect

SSD life
Seems like disk speed was a significant bottleneck on your system before then
No the SSD is not yet installed
Oh got it
It's a CPU or RAM issue
It's a new pc as a whole
Maybe GPU
I was thinking that he just added the SSD
To be clear, SSD usually doesn't improve performance, unless the disk drive speed is acting as a bottleneck.
It will improve load times, boot times, and in my experience, how responsive the OS is in general overtime
mm-hmm, performance in general is all about bottlenecks these days
Is that not some aspects of performance though?
But no the SSD isn't fully connected yet or anything, I essentially 'just' changed the motherboard, the CPU, GPU and more RAM
... so pretty much a brand new computer I guess
In some ways, but for example, wont improve FPS in a game if your CPU and GPU can't crunch the numbers fast enough to make it happen
Oh yeah an SSD is not gonna suddenly make the computer more powerful for sure
It can write really fast but it wont help if the problem isn't writing really fast
it's all it can do
Luckily the SSD will now be in conjunction with all the new parts
Well, writing and reading to be precise
Right, so loading screens and loading files and stuff like that
Booting is improved because it's about your components reading and displaying the OS
In a very simplistic way
SSDs are nice, especially for games, because all those kinds of load times are all about the hard drive on every system, so HDD->SDD is almost guaranteed to improve them no matter what your other stats
unlike CPU/GPU/RAM upgrades which may have no practical impact at all if you already had plenty of that resource for the apps you run
Yeah, it would also be nice to be able to browse through my folders and files quicker and with better response times
I actually haven't opened some of my usual folders yet but I almost always have to wait about a minute or two for one of my biggest folders to fully load
and it would also affect my usage of other apps during that loading
It'll imrpove that assuming the problem is reading the stuff it needs to read
Like, let's say that you open a folder, your CPU crunches the numbers to make it happen, if the wait is for the hard drive to actually fetch the actual data for you to see it, the SSD will make the process faster
If the wait was that the CPU was too slow, and the drive was idle waiting for more stuff to fetch, a SSD wont change that
Yeah I'm guessing it's the former, once I actually enable the SSD I guess I'll see for sure
but since all the parts are brand new then yeah the SSD is definitely gonna help
With most modern CPUs, unless the OS is seriously fucked, the bottleneck would be the hard drive
I'm guessing 'bottleneck' means a part that is fucking with the other parts/bringing them down?
or something like that
it means the limiting factor
It's a bottleneck, when you pour water from a bottle, the max amount of water is decided by how wide the neck of the bottle is
So in a computer, it's the limit you hit when you try to do a thing
if your CPU can process 20 game state updates per second, and your GPU can render 60 frames per second, your gameplay will run at 20 whatevers per second in practice because the CPU is the bottleneck
In that example, the GPU is essentially waiting for the CPU to do its job before it can continue working
Ahhh I see
this is why if you ever get poor performance in software, one of the first things to try is pull up task manager and see which component is at 100%; usually it's only one of them
For games, nowdays, the vast majority of time it's the GPU.
The CPU is rarely a bottleneck, also the reason as to why you really didn't get much evolution in gaming CPUs
In the past like...10 years
yep, the computationally expensive stuff in games is overwhelmingly the stuff GPUs do far better than CPUs
Some types of games can be taxing to CPUs tho, like, grand strategy games, that have very simple graphics but want to do a lot of math at once.
But that's the exception and not the rule
Interesting
I guess the only 'bottleneck' when it comes to the whole loading and booting stuff for me now would be the hard drive really so that's what the SSD is for
everything else is already performing superb, hell I'm playing the demo of RE4 and chatting here just fine!
In my experience, the SSD is mostly a boon to keep the OS running smoothly for a long time, apart from loading times
How capcom is using the re engine is how konami should have treated the fox engine
They both run so well...
You know when you get a new PC and it runs fast like hell, and after 6 months it takes 30 seconds more to boot up, because now a bunch more stuff you want boots on startup, and also a bunch of more stuff kinda wants priority, also you accumulated some temp files gods knows where and didn't bother cleaning them up?
an SSD offers a very good buffer so even some added load doesn't really matter that much in the usability of the computer.
Right, I remember being super paranoid about all that stuff when I had a much crappier laptop/PC
I guess an SSD heavily mitigates that problem

Today I learned about Immersive Fat Idiot Son, a Skyrim mod that gives you a son that ruins your life.

Rufus follows you everywhere, all the time, whether you want him to or not.

```Rufus is likely to misplace anything you give him. (He can't carry much anyway.)
ο»ΏRufus will set off traps, wave a torch around, make too much noise, and otherwise give away your position.
what a great mod
i think im gonna stream it in VC soon
It's a very nice game.
I tried it when it was just a demo. I'm waiting for a sale though
i tried the demo too and was imidiatly hooked lol
i played the demo multiple times
streaming now
its good
the first two levels are reasonably easy
im having real dificulty with the third level
you can only place some terraforming buildings under some temperature/humidity levels, but you're going to be naturally raising or lowering those levels as you play, meaning its possible to build yourself out of being able to build other things
took me like 6 tries but i did it
level 4 is a dozy. im gonna try it again tomorrow
Turns out this card is worth like three dollars alone
But nobody wants to buy it at that price
lol
Instant sell price is around sixty cents
I'm at a loss in regards of what price I should put it at.
So I might just do the minimum instant sell price and move on
3 dollars
is it really worth three dollars if nobody is willing to pay three dollars?
Well the last time a copy was sold it was sold for that much
In October
Yeah, I'm probably not going to wait that long to sell another
the actual last time one sold was for $0.29 in December
the market is so small it has no real price at all
@quiet swift were you on the list
I'd be surprised if they were vendors - they generally get terminated without the company making any noise about it.
@river veldt, you like this genre, right? I have no knowledge of any of these games.
FighterZ edition for 10 bucks... pretty monstrous deal if you ask me
I'm trying to get used to these buttons first
and how this game works, this is a bit different
I think in terms of gameplay it's fairly easy to get into, light buttons into medium buttons into heavy buttons
Yeah I think I've heard FighterZ is actually a fairly easy and straightforward fighting game to get into
I'm just getting turned around due to the auto combo in the light attacks and also some combination of inputs do different things like the vanish which I keep doing unintentionally because I mash so much
they are fairly simple for me after playing the game since launch
this is basic bread n butter combo that most everyone can do with a few weird exceptions
and then of course the game becomes a lot heavier when you add assists to the mix, but that is for you want to play the game more cereally
Yeah I'm gonna start with baby steps like with any new fighting game
Any tips for teams? That's the thing that scares me the most, I never play fighting games with teams so I don't know if it really matters or if I just go with my waifus characters I like more
I'm testing all the characters right now and seeing which ones I like more
play whoever you like lol, every character is viable with the right knowledge and game sense
pick your waifus, they're probably good (especially if they're the Androids)
Only problem with this game: I actually like too many characters!
But I'll try to go a match or two with 18, 21 and base Goku
let's see how this goes
it can only go up from here
I did buy the FighterZ edition so I should have all characters
but I seem to have to buy them with in game points, so no Videl or Kefla yet
sadge
first match won!
second match won
5th match won
we're back baby
we are so back
I'm fighting the same dude over and over since match 3
He's good but I'm beating his ass
I also don't know how to spark lol
all 4 buttons
light, medium, heavy and special
I'm going to bed, I'll wake up in 7 hours or so
nini
I always get wiped from the face of the planet in fighterz because I always need to bring a theme team like a full team of bald characters
Yeah I switched lobbies and I'm getting FOLDED by this dude
he's takin pity on me and playing around with me
he's destroying me
I pretty much can't even play lol
I still get yoinky sploinky'd on even when I bring characters I'm good at using, it's a mix of me not being that epic in fighterz even tho I play it a bunch with my friends and my opponent being the destroyer of hopes and dreams
Yeah I'm getting clowned on
I don't think so no
Because when I first started playing the game, I had it on thinking I was pretty decent until I found out the hard way
Auto combo is easy for someone to counter so I became a training mode dummy for other players
(I was mashing buttons hoping an input will come out)
Oh god I got matched with the same guy
This mf is playing on single player mode
I can't show this full match because it's too heavy for discord but I'll show the moment I got him once
I then proceeded to get immediately destroyed
Friend invite sent
i just finished the last main level of terra nill
surprisingly challenging, i wasnt able to get all the things in one try and it took me multiple trys to finish the last level but its a really nice, chill game with some satisfying gameplay and graphics
9/10, does exactly what it sets out to do incredibly well
there are some what look like challenge levels to try out next
i hope they add some DLC with more types of levels at a later date, its kinda short atm
it seems you're honestly just not blocking low, unless he was grabbing you before because you were blocking to much
WHEEEEEEZE
Stop taking screenshots with free camera on
All the enemy sprites look awful with any angle other than the standard one
I was trying to mod a game, but it's not working.
I looked on the github page for the mod, and it says Please use the latest canary builds instead of stable... ...as there was a bug on the stable release that won't allow you to run the game properly.
Lol what
Why did they release it on stable if it did literally nothing?
I still think including hat kid like this is really stupid
The more I hear about Squeenix the less excited I get about Final Fantasy 7 Remake and FF in general
FF16 is Yoshida and he's against NFTs, it might be the last good Final Fantasy game for awhile.
Bored Tifa Yacht Club
It's hilarious that the article states you don't own anything from the NFT, not Cloud's image, of course not, and not even the NFT itself since you can't do anything without Squeenix's consent, hell it seems you can't do anything with them, not even sell it
You could put a warning label "NFTs are a scam" and the cryptobros would still buy it.
"bro you just don't get it this is the future"
So far all I've seen done with NFTs is this kind of dumb studf which is essentially selling and buying digital cards, as if that's something entirely new never done before, we've been selling digital hats through steam since like 2008
Might as well spend money on a gacha game, can do more than an NFT can do for you
At least for a tf2 hat, it is indeed a unique digital object. NFTs are a glorified hyperlink.
The implementation of a TF2 hat is not meaningfully different from being a glorified hyperlink.
I can wear the TF2 hat, I can't do anything with the glorified hyperlink
You can βwearβ the glorified hyperlink if a game lets you, which is certainly a thing.
Oh yeah. I love necklaces made of words
Welp, it was inevitable.
I've reached the point in the game where Pathfinder: Kingmaker becomes very slow. I just beat back the invasion and propaganda from Pitax, and now I've got like 3 months' worth of time before the story actually moves ahead. Problem is...I don't really have many quests to complete or errands to run, nor can I just skip time using the auto-kingdom management option because doing so would destroy my kingdom.
See, there's this nasty little story quest in the game called the Ancient Curse, and it has several parts. Every time it shows up, you have a certain amount of time to do stuff (usually around 4 months) before the curse starts to take effect. The curse starts to happen when you suddenly start getting these mini-event messages about monsters attacking your kingdom, and these monster attacks cripple your economy, your people's loyalty, kingdom stability, and your community's trust. So naturally you don't want that to happen, and the only way to defeat the curse (for the time being) is to rush over to this hill to beat it back before it destroys you. Rinse and repeat like 6 or 7 times.
This would be pretty simple in a normal kingdom playthrough since you can build mage towers and teleportation circles in your towns and capital, allowing you to teleport all over the map from whichever region you're in and thus save tons of time. Thing is, I'm in auto-kingdom, which seemingly disables that feature (would've been nice if the game told you that...). Plus, the main story quests really don't take that long to complete at all (save for Troll Trouble and Season of Bloom, which were fun but looooong).
The bigger problem is, the game doesn't count those mini-event monster attacks as a serious event to skip time towards, so if you skip time, it skips straight to the main story quest and just collects all those devastating mini-events that you can't stop and tallies it up to a total, leading to almost complete kingdom collapse before you can make it to the hill...
So, in summary, I'm stuck waiting three in-game months for the curse to start happening safely, and I've got barely anything to do.
That sounds fun
What's your favorite curse in DnD style Tabletop RPGs?
Oh, also
What's the difference between effortless and auto settings for kingdom management?
Idk, I haven't really encountered many curses. This game calls it a "curse", but it's really just an invasion of monsters sent by a cursed ||Nymph||. (Story spoilers.)
My favorite is mummy rot.
Rotting Fist. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (3d6 + 4) bludgeoning damage plus 21 (6d6) necrotic damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or be cursed with mummy rot. The cursed target can't regain hit points, and its hit point maximum decreases by 10 (3d6) for every 24 hours that elapse. If the curse reduces the target's hit point maximum to 0, the target dies, and its body turns to dust. The curse lasts until removed by the remove curse spell or other magic.
You get this if you're hit with a mummy lord, a CR-15/16 creature
Effectively means you have ~20-40% chance of contracting the curse per hit, and you have 5-30 days to live.
With effortless, it makes the management for the kingdom extremely "easy" and far less punishing, but you're still the one doing all the work. At least, that's what it's supposed to do.
Auto-management puts the game's AI in charge, and it's...honestly not that great. It fails a lot of the time, doesn't use crisis points (which are essentially get out of jail free cards so you don't fail major problems), and often makes pretty shit or middle-of-the-road decisions that can either screw you or only help you slightly, when manual management could've helped you a lot more (and again, it doesn't build mage towers or teleportation circles in your towns, so you miss out on fast travel).
The problem is, neither option is great because the system is flawed in its core. It needed a LOT more work done on it before it was ready to ship out with the full game, I feel. Many events are bugged, your kingdom can often be permanently set to the "crumbling" state (which gives a -2 to all skill check rolls on kingdom management) for no reason except bugginess, and they throw waaaaaaaaay too many problems at you all at once, making it impossible for you to complete even half of them before the game tells you that you failed. For example, some events say that you have two weeks to solve the problem, but then three days later it tells you that the problem got worse and that you failed it completely.
That makes sense.
Grease Monke
Itβs all or nothing. March of the Machine brings the Phyrexian arc to an end as those who remain band together. The planes have all but fallen and all thatβs left is one final battle for the fate of the Multiverse. Itβs the showdown of righteousness versus perfection. Get ready for One Last Stand! β https://magic.wizards.com/en/products/march...
Like I said before, the CRPG side of this game is amazing, fun, very rewarding, and very polished (barring a couple very minor hiccups here and there). But then you have the kingdom side of things that holds back everything else, including the story (which started off great but has since kinda meandered a bit).
I still think the game is good, but I am now actively hyping myself up for Wrath of the Righteous instead, since pretty much everyone who has played it says that it tosses out all of what made Kingmaker "bad", then takes all the good parts and makes them even better.
Also, fun fact, Kingmaker actually alludes to the Worldwound and the crusades from Wrath of the Righteous, since there's an event where you can choose to send some of your soldiers to help in the crusades against the demon hordes. It's a neat bit of world-building and continuity that shows that there's far more out there than just the Stolen Lands.
Now that you mention it, I wonder if there are mods that overhaul parts of the game
There are! There are some that completely trivialize the kingdom management side of things (or allow you to make it as painless or as difficult as you want it to be), or some that add new classes and feats, and much more.
I'm mostly interested in quality of life mods or redesigns that fix glaring flaws
This one is probably what you want for fixing glaring flaws with the kingdom side of things: https://www.nexusmods.com/pathfinderkingmaker/mods/36
All of it is customizable, so you don't have to keep the default "one day to fix things" option.
Thanks. I'll look into it
As for quality of life, I'm not sure which ones you would fancy, but Nexus Mods has a whole bunch of things so I'm sure you'll find stuff that'll interest you.
I've already looked at every mod in there.
Is there a mod that lets you have beast or monster squad mates
Probably. The one that interests me most is the one that skips the intro
It's quite telling when the most popular mods of Kingmaker are massive ones that overhaul big parts of the game, and the most popular mods for Wrath of the Righteous are mostly small QoL tweaks (and one that gives 400+ cheat codes, but that one is for both games so I'm not counting it).
Fair point
Alright so apparently the FighterZ pass didn't include all the other characters that are greyed out, bummer, not even the Ultimate edition includes them so I had to just buy Kefla and Videl
The dream team is now assembled
You can change videls hairstyle to pigtails, I don't know how to do it on pc tho
But short hair is better anyways
We all saw it coming
Pigtails are cute but short hair Videl is the best one
wonder why the big names wanted nothing to do with E3
Cost to attend exceeds any potential returns
You know what, f*ck it, I'm just gonna start Wrath of the Righteous. I'll finish the rest of Kingmaker later. I'm close to the end anyway, from what I can tell.
You're probably not gonna come back to it later
It's really hard to come back to a game when you're already near the end
I've done it before
Well, good luck then!
Its cheaper to pre-record than to have an event live.
Literally monetary reasons.
Costs and the restrictions imposed by the E3 organization, basically.
end of an era, it's sad really
it's L2/LT I think
rip E3, you were too good for this world
If you're looking for RPGs played fast, you must be looking for Tina's RPG Show, I Guess! Every month tinahacks be bringing RPG speedrunners along to show off what they love about their speedgames. Whether you're an RPG veteran or someone who's just starting to get interested, this show will have something for you to enjoy! This episode aired ...
It's Tina's RPG Show, I Guess. Monster Sanctuary is featured! It's a fantastic PokΓ©mon Metroidvania
After looking at guides last night and messing around on practice mode I can feel a significant improvement on how I play, it's less wailing around like an idiot and it's more purposeful, I still don't quite have it locked on my muscle memory and I'm still mashing but I'm getting there
It's nothing compared to the 50 hit strings the dude last night was doing against me but it's better than the auto combo
hell yeah brother
Nevermind I'm getting bodied by a purple icon dude
hell yeah brother
learning combos is one thing, learning to hit those combos in a real match is the next thing
It's honestly less about that and more about getting a chance to even do anything
I'm literally writing this as I'm getting beat up right now
yeah. dbfz combos last as long as an entire episode of the show
Yeah I don't know if I like it or not, maybe it's because I'm playing against super high level players but I basically do nothing each match
There's like no chance at all as soon as you get hit once it's over
that do be most fighting games, except for DOA and Killer Instinct
Nah this is a whole different level
I've never seen combos lasting this long even on GGST
ggst's combos are universally short
because damage is so high and the magic series is gone from previous gear games
is there not a hollow knight forum?
be the change you want to see
i just purchased it, i wanna see what all the hype is about
impulse purchasing intensifies
but first there's a new technology connections and i need to eat
I don't think anyone chatty has played or replayed it since the forum was made
I mostly see HK get mentioned as a quick example in some other topic
thats what to be expected after awhile
unless its something like paradox or a modded game like bethesda games
in my case, so far there's always been a new-to-me Soulsvania when I was in the mood for one of those (Blasphemous, then Ender Lilies) so I have yet to want to replay HK
ok i'm gonna make one at some point and ping genryu and it'll end up like the valheim thread and i'm fine with that
we'll just post once a month when there's a new mossbag video
ngl one reason i got it was because i keep finding cute art of this hornet character and i want to know who that is
I could play Hollow Knight alongside you
ah, she's a major character so that should go over well at least
https://twitter.com/SilverSkeejee/status/1452260994768678915 and here's the moment where I link this again
Just keep me updated on where you get to so we can talk
sure thing
hecc it
i'll play along with you guys
it'll hold me more accountable to actually playing and finishing it
I should probably play Kingmaker at some point, but right now I'm focused on Fallout: New Vegas.
Amusingly, since I just posted this this morning, it's somehow relevant here:
https://twitter.com/RavenCourse/status/1641076243440234496
Personally, Hollow Knight seems to be exactly the kind of game I'm bad at, but I got through Dust: An Elysian Tale fine, so...
it's been so long since I played Dust I'd have trouble comparing them, esp on difficulty
I learned about Dust: An Elysian Tail because its artist is also the person who made Lori for Jazz Jackrabbit 2
unfortunately I have so much else in progress that if a HK mob forms I won't be able to join it
Welp, started Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.
Literally five minutes in, demon invasion. A minute after that, you're introduced to your first two party members via falling into a cave system: a happy-go-lucky Paladin (who both acknowledges and makes fun of the fact that she can be a bit lawful stupid sometimes), and another lady who is so very obviously a serial killer/murderer based on her rather...gleeful combat dialogue ("I'll cut you open!~" >:D), her little white lies in regular dialogue, and the fact that as soon as she and some random dude fell into a cave, her first thought was slitting his throat to grab his stuff, and then casually lying about it to you as soon as you found her (plus, her alignment is "undetectable").
Then you're introduced to two more companions, both "mongrels" (as they call themselves). Essentially animal/human hybrids who live under the city. One is a pretty decent if awkward guy who kinda reminds me of Nathan Drake, if I'm being honest. Even looks and sounds like him. And the other is an actual bitch of a woman who quite literally turns on you the second she has the opportunity, and is secretly working with the demons who just took over the city. There is absolutely no way I'm recruiting her into my party, she can suck it.
So yeah, very colorful batch of folks at the start of the game, and I've heard it only gets wackier from there, lol.
Dust is very easy. Hollow Knight is medium to hard
Hollow Knight is a great Metroidvania, but the Soulslike side of it confounds my ability to play through it
( #1091169976217509918 exists now btw)
interesting, for me HK is one of the most Souls-like-y games that I had no trouble playing (difficulty, yes, but the fun kind)
Covid did the major blow and everyone else figured that you can do your own show, whenever, however, and not have to share time and space with competitors.
It seems that hasn't really been formally confirmed, but that appears to be the general consensus among industry figures on twitter. And I guess some members of the media.
I thought this was already known?
Expo or not, at least we still get to see Todd tell his "sweet little lies". /s
Not officially
But that's the current hypothesis.
2023 being cancelled seems to be the final nail though
Although the organization's official stance is that they'll have news once they have stuff to put into E3
its impending death was "obvious" for a while depending on how aware of the game convention situation one was, but only now has E3 2023 been officially cancelled
Yep
Direct-styled presentations seem to be where the industry is headed. That, and the Game Awards have taken on the mantle of "big name companies sharing game trailers all in one go".
Pretty much, yeah.
Once Nintendo proved that direct methods worked well and gave the company full creative freedom in such a way that was helpful for marketing purposes, others followed suit and that basically made E3 irrelevant. The fact that E3 had gradually turned into a marketing event as opposed to its original purpose of being a business expo led up to this eventuality.
The business side of it now being fulfilled by other events anyway
i'd be that summoner bug
Someone help me I can't stop playing FighterZ
this is just like when I started playing Strive
I've started playing ranked to see how that'd go like and I've been doing pretty alright
BAFTA best game of the year....
vampire survivors....
like... it is a really fun game
but holy brother in christ
this year we had literally fucking insane shit
Oh WHAT?!
@gaunt marten Duuuude, Wrath of the Righteous just blew my mind. So, in Kingmaker, cities are rather, well...small. But in WotR, they are HUGE. They have their own map separate from the world map, and you can run into enemies and unique areas in them.
I nearly did an actual spittake of water when I saw it.
??????????????????
???????????????????????????????????????????
Elden Ring is likely the second biggest technical achievement in game history, just behind red dead redemption 2
I wonder how hot is my take that "Nintendo's 3DS/Wii U eShop closure was inevitable, it's not something that is done because Nintendo is bad"
Don't get me wrong; it sucks.
I just think that they couldn't possibly just leave it alone there forever
i agree
I absolutely think that they should go with a more unified system after Switch and its successor, it feels like they wanted to reset everything when moving toward Switch.
.........Oh my God, this game has an Elven version of Fluttershy in it. Same soft voice and kindness and everything. And she's a companion.
1000000/10 game.
And she speaks with animals!
Idk, I don't think anything Elden Ring does is that impressive on the technical aspect.
It sure is impressive how they managed to just make a Dark Souls but even bigger and expanded on the game mechanics but I wouldn't call it technically impressive
Fromsoft is not a company that makes games that are known for pushing technology forward when it comes to games, all of their games look good for their gen but they aren't cutting edge at all, they focus more on artstyle than being technically impressive (which, admittedly, is better in my opinion. all their games have gorgeous artstyles)
It's a triumph of design but it didn't really push technological boundaries
I definitely wouldn't call it the second biggest technical achievement in game history
Valve has at least 1 or 2 games that take places higher when it comes to biggest technical achievements in gaming history than Elden Ring
I can definitely see Horizon beating it in that category, that water tech was impressive
Lololol.
So y'all know Minecraft Dungeons?
At level 72, with gear with an aggregate power level of 75...
I did the daily challenge for Creeper Woods...
On Apocalypse 7.
And cleared it second try.
Though to be fair my armor is level 96 Ocelot armor with the 35% damage reduction and a maxed protection enchantment.
I don't have a relative comparison for those things since I never played it, but congrats, I assume it was barely doable
Well, I was careless and got down to my final life.
But I wasn't really super in danger.
Like, usually at which level you would try to do that to be safe?
i played it with my sister maybe three times
Uh, the recommended level? Like over 100
somethin about camera work makes me kinda nauseus if i play it too long
My bow is low level but clutch.
Gilded and unique and 21 enchantment points including overcharge and burst bowstring.
It also has Tempo Thief.
In the gilded bonus
Congrats on your accomplishment
Stealing speed from mobs was the difference between success and failure IMO.
It's all about having a smart playstyle and options for artifacts.
Enchantments make a huge difference
While I don't really agree on VS being the GOTY; BAFTA is really known for picking unexpected games
They're the one who stopped BOTW from winning all major GOTY awards
They gave it to What Remains of Edith Finch instead
I think that the VS pick is defensible
Not every year you get a game that creates a new genre
And is at the same time wildly successful
Well but by that perspective, they refused to give it to BOTW before
Can't really deny that they have very unique choices
I wouldn't say they created anything new with BOTW
They did the same thing Elden Ring did this year
Brought Zelda design philosophy to an open world setting
VS isn't anything new, they just made the genre extremely popular.
VR is definitely a new subgenre
I can't think of anything of the sort before it
VS*
It is straight up inspired by a different game that came before it
"Magic Survival" is a mobile game that directly inspired VS, and it was released in 2019
I had no idea, still, it's the 1st game to make it well enough to popularise it.
By compariosn BOTW wasn't the 1st big open world game
I think that the 1st game to really make open world a big deal was the 1st AC
And it doomed us all
idk, I have 100% completion and 112h playtime in VS and yet I'm not really convinced that it is anywhere close to the best game of the year
I don't think it's the best game of the year, but I think it's probably in the running as the most influential game of that year
Well the award name is Best Game
Like, I wouldn't be surprised if this is regarded as Binding of Isaac is today
In a few years
I mean games that win GOTY for 2022 is very obvious, but if for whatever reason you refuse to acknowledge the AAA releases that year a fantastic game that could've been GOTY is either Stray or Sifu
Also Signalis
I don't think being influential is a factor or at least a big one
Also Vampire Survivors isn't as big either
Like, let's be honest, the main reason stray was big for us is that we live in a furry bubble
BAFTA is always known for its unique picks. They picked Destiny in 2014. Edith Finch in 2017. Outer Wilds in 2019. Returnal in 2021.
Like I said if for whatever reason you wanna ignore big releases like God of War, Elden Ring, Horizon, Splatoon, etc then those are my choices for GOTY
All three of those are fantastic games
None of them won any other major GOTY than BAFTA.
I'm not saying those games are bad or BAFTA is a bad award, but they really do make some
well
interesting picks
I do think that in 5 years it will either be Elden Ring or Vampire survivor that shaped the videogame scene in a bigger way.
Which one it is I am not sure but I do think that VS as a pick is defensible for that reason
Yeah it's possible it will not get as big as rogue likes did after Isaac
But it's a similar wave, at least initially
It's at least a fair guess
I don't mean to shit on Vampire Survivors at all but I really wouldn't put it next to Elden Ring when it comes to being influential
I am very scared if ER ends up becoming influential
I am kinda over open world for... 5 years now
But maybe if they learn the ER lessons they can make good ones now
Still
I kinda want out of that genre, or at least see some games that aren't that
The two next 'big' games I can think of that will be open world are Stalker 2 and AC: Mirage but I bet there's a lot more
Suicide Squad will probably be open world and Gotham Knights was too
It's not gonna go away for a while
But there are definitely other games that aren't open world at all that were released too
Open world has become the standard for a lot of series, especially I don't expect Ubisoft to stop
Elden Ring open world is a step up from the Ubisoft style.
I wouldn't mind if more open worlds pulled towards it.
Oh yeah, you know, they have actual exploration instead of a bunch of icons on the map that tells you what you will find before you get there
Exploration is my favourite thing in games and it was dead for so long because of Ubisoft style open world games
For a genre that on paper is all about exploring the land they were so committed at taking away any form of actual mistery from it
I fully expect AC Mirage to fail at this point, it seems that they're really really hoping it will be succesful
Between the Prince of Persia remake and the other game they're never gonna finish they're probably on their last leg at least it seems to me
I think Mirage will be a success, for our whining they have a committed fanbase that love what they are making
Valhalla was a big success too
I mean, more power to them, I hate it but I am happy they like it.
All I want is that not every open world game to be exactly done like that forever
So uh, I died right as I did the killing blow (I had plenty of extra lives) but Apocalypse Illager kill done on default Apocalypse.
Easy 100 gamerscore lmfao.
Though a failed tower did get me a weapon that is level 113
It's a slower melee weapon but good lord is it OP.
I was uh, using it to cut down Redstone Golems after doing 1 arrow for speed sap lol.
And very quickly too.
Oops I forgot to have things in the Blacksmith.
For reference I got back into the game a little over a week ago after being on hiatus and was in the late level 30's before, having only beaten the main game coop with my roommate just before Christmas.
And because of playing missions above the recommended level solo I've gained tons of levels and am way way past his level now.
Oh...oh no.
I have seven hours less playtime but like 19k more mobs like, and like 141 more deaths, though some of those may have procced death barter when I had the stacked with lucky explorer.
I fucking hate this game
The PC version has gamepad support, but the key prompts show keyboard keys
In the PS1 version, they correspond to Circle, X, Square and Triangle in this order (clockwise)
In the PC version, they correspond to Triangle, X, Square and Circle in a completely fucked up order
You see the numeric code for two seconds, and have to translate given this key https://i.imgur.com/Qk5wXpt.png
There's a mod to replace the keys with the proper PS1 equivalents, but it requires swapping the entire graphic engine.
Not worth it
It sounds simple. I just need to swap circle and triangle, but every time I look at the numbers I instinctively place triangle at 4 and circle at 1 where they belong.
all that for shunting trains?
I'm going to work on a coaster for a bit in AirCoaster, then go to work.
It's a complicated train.
In the story, you have to jump on the train from another training, detach the train cars by inserting three sequential codes of four random keys (that change every five seconds)
Get any three codes right without getting caught and you detach the train. Then to keep everyone from finding out, you replace the wagon you want to steal with a mimic wagon, then reattach the train with three more codes.
Yo final fantasy 8
