that's the one where he says the r slur and "im the goddamn Batman"
Batman would say neither of these thing I think
Frank Miller is the kinda guy that hears the general complaints about Batman being too violent and he'd go ''He's not violent enough ''
#1026644106874732594 is leaking but one of these days I'll get you to read Daredevil: Born Again and/or Batman: Year One so you know what Miller was like before he lost it
Well I've already read Year One but Daredevil never
haha Ive already read Year One and it was extremely good 😎
ah cool
I might check it out
I realized as soon as I wrote it that at least one of you had
I like Daredevil a bit
and the MCU announced a Born Again show so we know that'll be mandatory reading soon anyway
I read Year One in like an hour
The only Daredevil I've seen is from this one Spiderman comic where they kinda help out Black Cat and she kisses Daredevil and goes home with him all while Peter is watching
and they both know he's there
so that was a bit sad
I read a lot of Rebirth, stopped around the time they did metal batman.
fair, Metal is the best and the worst of comics all at once
I assume Sor is referring to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Nights:_Metal and/or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Batman_Who_Laughs and their associated tie-ins/spinoffs
remember when I posted that panel of Batman riding a velociraptor? that's from Dark Knights: Metal
That's the one.
i know Batman Who Laughs it's weird
I was surprised at how good it was, but it's definitely not for everyone
the whole Metal event was like every comic crossover trope in a blender and turned up to 11
||the Court of Owls uses baby Darkseid to summon villains from the Dark Multiverse and then Morpheus/Sandman helps guide Batman and Superman to the one and only subdimension that can defeat them|| which probably sounds like a bad fanfic premise but the execution was so solid and so utterly shameless it was actually a lot of fun
and of course, Batman Who Laughs survived because he was popular enough to get a spinoff, because that's how comics work

when we talk about some comics being "not newbie-friendly", this is a perfect example
Ah yesssss! The only reason why I bothered getting my Blizzard account back!
well actually more like 3 reasons
- Stonehardt
- Grillmaster 76
- Cultist Zenyatta
everything else invalid, lol
wait what the fuck
when was Doomfist, the guy with a giant fuckin' robot arm become a tank

you forgot Doom :p
(a lot of the classic Doom community is trans)
including source port developers, etc
I'm a bit puzzled too, but that's the way it is
Cali!
I installed those emulators we talked about
Xenia?
No. The forked versions of emulators for the xbox
Xemu?
No
Cxbx-reloaded?
Dolphiin and ps2 emulator
oh, right
I do have Xemu installed on Linux, some OG Xbox games look absolutely amazing once upscaled
Dolphin was pretty rough but it played games
The ps2 one ran great though
I would probably wait for more patches for the dolphin one
this is RalliSport Challenge 2, an OG Xbox game that could pass for an Xbox 360 game if it ran at 720p on original hardware 🙂
(it's 60 FPS natively too)
the handling, while arcade, is very fun too. Definitely an underrated gem if you ask me
one more screeny
This game has no rights to slap this right
With the largest threat Sonic has ever been pitted against, the odds are not in his favor as he approaches the big fight. It's going to take the seven Chaos Emeralds and a bit of luck to take down the Titans of Starfall Island. Is he truly Undefeatable?

holy fuck
It has every right.
oh right, how was Sonic Frontiers in the end?
I can't remember if I heard anyone talk about it here after it came out
We were talking about it a lot after it came out, lol.
sometimes I'm just asleep at the critical times, or it gets lost among other stuff
sleepy cat
it seems to be the best 3D Sonic game that came out in a long time
the PC version needs mods to shine though
And ultimately the consensus was that it was a fun, emotional, yet still flawed adventure. When it gets things right, it was AWESOME. When it got things wrong, it was disappointing, but never infuriatingly so.
Overall, it was the breath of fresh air that the series desperately needed, it was the best 3D game in the series since Generations, and it was a great first step in a new direction, but it still needs improvement.
The adventure isn't over yet though: there's tons of free DLC/updates coming out this year, including new modes and an entirely new story, AND new playable characters.
it is on my waitlist 🙂
This is still my favorite boss theme in the game, and the series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQRMaFCajcU

Undefeatable comes VERY close.
Yeah. Its nice to see sonic be in a universally good game

#SonicFrontiers...
I'd say Sonic Frontiers isn't a great game, but it's good and has some excellent moments and arguably some of the best boss fights this series has ever had. What I can say is it's potentially an excellent new foundation for great future titles, the concern is if Sonic Team can do so, their track record is patchy at best....
I have a similar opinion myself
I feel like it's one of those things where people say "this is a great first step" but that sentiment keeps repeating itself all the time
It's not a bad game, but it's not amazing either, I wouldn't personally say it's even one of the best Sonic games
ah, perhaps this is why I didn't remember hearing these opinions before
I'm waiting to upgrade my pc to do a 100% run of it because it doesn't run very well on my computer
And by doesn't run very well I mean any semblance of vast open world means 15 fps at best
Personally speaking the whole open zone aspect isn't appealing to me and I think it's a bad idea to use it as a blueprint for future games but if that's what they're going to do then I'm hoping they'll really solidify the design in the future and make it incredible
is Frontiers "open world" in the standard Ubisoft continent riddled with icons sense, or one of the happy mediums like an open hub area connecting more directed levels?
A little bit of both, I suppose?
I was going to say that it's kind of reminiscent of the SA1 hubs where it's kind of open world ish but instead of different areas it's this one big map where there's all these little places where you can go into the different levels/zones/cyberspace levels but instead of being an empty area you run around in it's a big map with actual stuff in it asides from the singular individual levels you can go to
and yeah there is a bunch of icons and stuff you collect and things like that I suppose
so the open hub area style?
Well, except the open hub area is a level in and of itself
right, games that do the open hub area usually have lots of stuff in the hub area too
I guess what "is a level" means depends a lot on the game
I've never played a Sonic game to completion so my strongest impression of the open hub area model is Sly 2
the open world has stuff to do in it but you can also go into the individual cyberspace levels for a 'classic' sonic level style
where you gotta reach the end of the level
a lot of them are pretty much just older levels from previous sonic games too
nvme?
a very fast type of ssd
The standard type of PCIe-attached storage for the last several years
Or alternatively, “The thing that’s not SATA”
yeah, even my new laptop has 32 gb but only 8 cores
my current laptop has 4
My pretty-high-end desktop has 24
That said, more cores tend to be correlated with slower single-core performance
I doubt the Epic Games Launcher startup is terribly multithreaded
This hypothetical person is defeating themselves
what is the sweet spot these days
It’s complicated? Somewhere in the 10-20 range at the high end.
The actual useful number is probably still 4-8
Assuming you don’t actually multitask or do anything highly parallelised
I feel like my cpu is... probably fine enough to not be a huge issue for what I use my computer for
But my memory and my graphics card surely need an upgrade which is what I'm looking into upgrading soon
geforce gt 1030 and 8 gb of ram
looking into upgrading to 16 gb of ram and I think my brother has a gtx 1050 he's looking into repairing that he wants to gift me
so that's saving money there
at least for me, vram size has been the only spec to come up as a hard blocker in the last several years
is that from the graphics card?
video ram, yeah

Is vram just like, a part you can upgrade or is that just inherently something that comes with the graphics card?
So if you wanted to upgrade you'd need an entirely new graphics card altogether
It is essentially fixed by the graphics card
Want more memory, get a new one
(Integrated graphics are something of an exception here but are also barely relevant except maybe in Apple land)
yep, for me the top priority with my new laptop was a better graphics card that had way more vram
my current laptop's gtx 1050 has 2 gb vram and my new one's rtx 3070 ti has 8 gb vram
so that ought to be almost as future proof as a gaming laptop can get
when I launch Dead Space, Task Manager claims it uses to 4.5/8.0 gb of "dedicated GPU memory"
i played a bit of Frontiers but it never really clicked with me
I assume it does a decent amount of scaling that up and down depending on your exact specs, and it judged my system to be a "medium"
Speaking of epic, this week
I'm curious now, how much does this change on other settings...
oooooooh Dishonored
That's a good one too
all of the Dishonored DLC campaigns are weirdly enough just as good if not better than the original campaigns

at least in gameplay
Oh welp that's the one I'm getting
thankfully it's a gift so no money spent there, if I save up I can buy an even better one in the future and give the other one back to my brother or let him sell it so no money spent on either side here
...well except he's paying for the repairs but he owes me money anyways
and to be clear, this 1050 lasted me a long time, and still plays pretty much all indies
it's just the last few times I had any game outright refuse or fail to run on this laptop, it was because it demanded a minimum 4 gb of vram
for example, the Dead Space remake requirements say "GTX 1070", which apparently had 4.5 gb vram (it never produced an error message on my old laptop but I assume this is why, or at least one reason why)

iirc Halo Infinite did produce an error message specifically about vram
Well... I'm probably wrong but I'm currently using DMC5 as my kind of... anchor point, I guess you could say? Says here that the recommended graphics card for DMC5 is a gtx 1060 with 6gb vram
I currently have a gt 1030 with 2 gb vram so anything that comes my way is literally going to be an improvement
I might actually manage to play DMC5 at medium settings and a respectable resolution

certainly worth a shot
And it's a pretty recent game I mean... 2019 wasn't that long ago
so, apparently Dead Space remake doesn't have a texture resolution setting; I'm guessing that means the low/medium/high stuff is gonna be all framerate rather than vram then, and fiddling with that only got my vram to inch up to 4.9/8.0
did we pass a point where more texture resolution doesn't help perceived graphical fidelity so it's just a fixed setting now?
I'm not really sure, all the games i've played have a texture resolution setting
thanks Epic, I now got the entire Dishonored trilogy for free
no, I think it's just a lack of time/willingness to implement the feature on their part… full resolution is still demanding on integrated graphics, or old GPUs with 2-4 GB of VRAM
modern AAA games ship with pretty large textures, and even if they're streamed in and out during gameplay, you can't load huge textures on GPUs with very low memory bandwidth (without affecting performance a lot)
interesting how many things do and don't make the priority list
TL;DR: For most games, an option to halve the maximum resolution of all textures (used in 3D) still makes sense in 2023 (this saves roughly 75% of texture memory). The only case where I'd skip this is in retro games
so maybe my current laptop could've played it if they had a low tex rez option
Hm, site here says I don't even have the minimum settings for RE2(2019) but I was able to play through that game to completion just fine
I guess simply not having a good enough graphics card but having everything else is good enough?
VRAM usage depends a lot on your target resolution too
ah, I might try that later
I'm running nothing but Discord and a terminal right now (on a 4K display), and the driver says I'm using 617 MB of video memory.
I remember when I used a GPU with 32 MB of VRAM
I can't believe the cowboy has a deadname

oh god what was the corporation from Alien called
i cant remmeber
Weyland-Yutani
yea!
that's a pretty good comparison point
in fact I made a broader Alien comparison to my family the other day since both franchises are sci-fi horror classics with a couple of solid to okay sequels
are the DS sequels good? or just ok
so, people disagree on this
2 is good
3 is filled with EA bullshit
I played all three DSs far apart from each other so I'm not the best to judge
but IMO 2 was a straight improvement, exactly what you want from a sequel, except maybe that (again much like Alien -> Aliens) there's a distinct shift from horror to action
in fact the DS remake borrowed several of the mechanical improvements from DS2, such as the zero g sections now letting you fly around through space in any direction instead of jumping between solid surfaces
DS3 is a tougher one to judge because of the "EA bullshit" like microtransactions (in a single player game!) coloring everyone's view of the game on launch
but IMO if you overlook that stuff DS3's still pretty fun, although I'd say it is a step down in writing (especially near the end) and gameplay (too action-y imo)
and DS3 is still the only one with co-op

again, similar to how Alien 3 has a really bad rap but if you watch the Assembly Cut it's actually pretty good although probably still not quite as good as the first two
hell, the first Dead Space even has a director's cut now
lol
Dear Dark Souls community, Nire is talking about Dead Space, please don't make attempts at his life

i mean, dark souls 3 did kill the dark souls , no new dark souls games were made afterwards
Dark Souls 3 was planned to be an ending to the franchise all along
That's what the expansion was about, with the end of time and the worlds converging into one
Completed Freedom Planet 1 on Hard!
129 of those deaths were from the final stage/final boss fight
At some point, yeah. I wanna blitz through the other characters in 1, but I'll probably just set it to Easy difficulty for that.
Miles Morales feels a lot more disappointing than I expected. oh well
I guess you could say "your mileage may vary"

mileage is too American, use Kilometerage
i know, but that doesn't make my sentence untrue
I'm agreeing with you
fair
this chart is super heavily weighted to insanely popular games in some form or another
#DeadSpace: oh, and for the record, I found Peng
And this is why Chipmunk is hax at guessthegame
There are many franchises missing from this list
And it omits basically everything prior to the year 2000
That said
73, not too bad
Doesn’t even have Star Wars, tsk tsk
eh, id say its mainly 1995-2005 popularity mainly
castlevania and star fox most iconic games are both 1997
(symphony of the night and 64 respectively) theres probably other ones on there thats that the case for but i cant be bothered to check more dates, though shenmue 1 is 1999
are we including games we started but didn't finish?
It does just say “play” with no further qualifications
welp, being as inclusive as possible, I can only get it to 38
lol, the one franchise chipmunk didn't play is also the only one I haven't heard of
(am I way below average or is it just the serious gamers that have filled this out already?
)
not a real gamer
i dont really experiment with other games too often, i stick to my Marios and Zeldas cuz thats what i like
Variety of only popular games
i dont think either are true really, some of these aren't mainstream (parasite eve/wild arms) and popular in their genre, some of them are just past their hayday (fable), some like worms are only really super fun with friends so i can see missing, etc
basically you need to have been playing a bunch of games during the 2000s as MA said
what is SaGa
saga frontier was probably the most iconic one in thatfranchise for me, but its a turn based rpg, basically a final fantasy
Not much. What's up with you
as labled, i never played it though
cap no sims?
nope
taking a relatively generous definition of "played"
note to self, shill silent hill 2 more
Not at home, but I am going to pull a hipster move as soon as I am home and check that Drakengard box really hard
I listened to a lot of Drakengard music but that doesn't count
I played when it was new to completion, and I didn't know any better.
Also did half of it emulated recently but it was a very painful experience
Base game of Sims 4 is free to play now. Obviously dlc are $$$ but... worth a look
I decided to count Bloodborne as a Darksouls for mine
Fair
Gen, were you the one who was giving a try to Elden Ring/Sekiro and stuff? Or was that Ixrec?
why is Final Fantasy stamped so many times
I played like thirty of them
should i have stamped Zelda and Mario a bunch of times then
All the mainline games except 5, 6 and 15, most of the spinoffs and side games
Hey I'm not your boss
yeah you are
Then yes. One stamp for every five games
cap ur a mod if either of u is more boss its legally you
True and valid. My emotions are unknowable because I don't have any and that's scary
who is the least scary mod
yay899
I tried and dropped Dark Souls and Sekiro, haven't touched any other Fromsoft Soulslikes. IIRC Gen's played most of them to completion.
im interested in Elden Ring but BOTW is fulfilling my open world desires right now
Okay it's you then. I think we were similar in the sense of it being extra frustrating and whatnot. I think after watching some videos and maybe learning a bit more how to play (like ,knowing in advance what I want to build and how to make an early game build, not just level 100+ endgame build), i'm doing far, far, far better now and actually enjoying myself
For Elden Ring, that is
right, I never touched Elden Ring
I don't think "builds" apply to Sekiro and I don't think I was far enough into Dark Souls for it to matter much there
do you even get to make your own character in Sekiro
I watched a bunch of videos from the Fextralife channel, about "X weapon type is OP" (not really, just showcasing main weapons of each type). Found whips to be very interesting style, found builds for it, went for that (probably super early... like level 6-7 in a level 60 zone) to grab the weapon but i'm having great fun with it
You can have any color car you want, as long as it's black.
whips??? like castlevania>???????????
Whips in Dark Souls are not nearly as cool as Castlevania whips
oh
whips are the Best Weapon in Elden Ring - Elden Ring All whips Breakdown

Wow, I f*cking suck, lol:
You say that but one build is the Trevor Belmont build
This list is mostly applicable to people of a certain age
that doesnt look like Trevor
i think
idk i dont remember what Trevor looks like because the only Belmont i care about is Simon
To be fair, while I don't look up guides, my modus operandi when i play a new souls game is finding a fucking claymore, because I am very confortable with its moveset.
So there is a good basis for finding something you are very comfortable using in order to enjoy the game
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xR4u07ptFDM well then you want this, or the colossal weapon one 😛
Greatswords are the Best Weapon in Elden Ring - Elden Ring All Greatswords Breakdown
In this Elden Ring video, we're going to be showing why greatswords are the best weapon in Elden Ring. This is the first video of our new series where we go through each weapon type and show you what you can do with each weapon and why you may or may not use the...
The problem with that, is that every subsequent playtrhough, I pick up the claymore and I feel the pull of just playing the game with the claymore, yet again, even if I already did it

and that's Dead Space completed
might go back for 100%ing after I look up some stuff
I did want to finish off that tangent we started a ways back about the (optional, opt-in) content warnings, because there is a legitimate question of whether they spoil anything, but that only becomes a significant concern in the final chapter
I'm sticking to collect-a-thon platformers like I grew up with lol
Spyro
I almost finished all three games completely 100%+ on PS4 on the Reignited Trilogy. Spyro 4, hello?
there are 2 warnings in the final chapter, first for ||the video of Nicole's suicide, finally confirming that the Nicole we've been talking to is not real|| and second for ||the Hive Mind crushing Daniels to death||
Anyone play Spongebob Cosmic Shake lately?
IMO the first one is completely fine for a new player because ||there are multiple characters whose suicide it could be, and odds are most players will be suspicious of Nicole anyway||, and the second one probably is a spoiler considering ||no one else is left at that point|| but IMO it's a fairly minor problem, that particular death was never a big deal to me at least
Aye it’s so good
2000s licensed platformer released in 2023 is one of the best things to happen ever
I 100% finished the game within 3 days
Quick, people looking at this chat, give me your favorite collect-a-thon platformers. IDK, I'm bored. Okay go
hm, if "collect-a-thon" means what I think it does I'm struggling to think of any I've played besides A Maretime Bay Adventure
SM64's 100 coin stars come to mind?
why did i click those spoilers
Banjo Kazooie is probably the best example of a collectathon
Well, I meant old classics like Spyro, Crash, Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, the decent Spongebob games, etc
yea Spyro is one
oh, I wasn't sure R&C and Sly counted, but those for me then
I haven't really played R&C since the original three
have you played Super Mario Odyssey that's a collectathon
oh right you have because i forced you to with peer pressure
Sadly I haven't. I've been slowly progressing through Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope though
ok I was imagining a much narrower definition of "collect-a-thon" then
to me nearly every platformer (not to mention a lot of non-platformers) has collect N whatevers as one of the many things you can do so I felt like it'd have to be uniquely prominent to call a game that
have you played A Hat in TIme
nope
I've been thinking of trying to replay Sackboy A Big Adventure
I quite enjoyed A Hat in Time
Very much classic platformer gameplay
If you liked Super Mario 64 you’ll probably like A Hat in Time
You're like the 7th or 8th Midnight I've known on here lol
I give props for being a Zipp lover though lol
I suspect Odyssey burned me out on classic platforming for a good while
Yeah the OC name and design was lazily thrown together. But whatever
I've still never played any of the R&Cs after 3
Rift Apart is a fun one
or any of the Spyros/Crashes/Banjos
Rift Apart is indeed pretty good
I'm also bored just seeking to voice chat with other gamers or something. Agh lol
no idea what the priority would even be
Someone help solve my boredom lol
Sounds a bit desperate, I know, but it kind of is because I hate being bored
Ping me if you wanna help my boredom lol
Is it bad I started playing Mariokart Tour again earlier and find it to be a WAY better game now without the stupid gacha crap?
Why would that be bad? Gacha is crap.
Well considering that and the ridiculous paywalls, even ridiculous for Nintendo, drove me away after a bit of time, and I decided to go back and all of that is gone for the most part, besides the stupid $40 for one character garbage

good
That was three years ago
Also you can build in IL2CPP, I guess back then it wasn't possible because Unity wasn't doing their job?
Also the Linux version of Unity is in a much worse shape than the Mac build lmao, its slowly improving but getting installed is its own journey.
Ah i see
Wine can be added back technically too (not on arm devices tho, you'll probably need some crazy emulation), and notarizing is basically a way they use to check for malware. It can be a bit of a pain, but they made it easier with Command Line Tools.
(Hell, why do you want to use Wine? You're not supposed to use that for a game unless we talking ancient code.)
The only point that rings true is the 3rd-party lib support, that is still all over the place.
But yeah, the primary point is to create a proper port. During Mac's early times you got half-assed ports that performed terribly or had missing features, so they ended up not selling well (wow shocking). The ones that did kept getting supported for a long time.
Also this is a very similar issue with native linux ports, they are also hard to make and typically run into unexpected issues. This is pretty much no different, the only exception is that the Linux community got fed up and decided to create tools that help running Windows games. (Valve and Proton)
The Linux world is technically better but the games you play are not native games. They're still Windows games but with a lot of weird trickery.
Lol
Will you be the last one alive in the cabin?
Evil Dead: The Game’s new battle royale-style Splatter Royale mode is playable today in a free update for all platforms. Choose Deadite versions of any Survivors and Demons from the game – including DLC characters and outfits you’ve purchased – and use your wits and weapons to become the last person...
Wait... I think I may have an old version of aethersx2... Apparently I should have access to a Metal renderer and play games at a way higher resolution, above 4k.
Also RPCS3 is available for ARM macs
it's so weird that I'd never even heard of the vast majority of these games
Yes. They're shovelware
live services are such a huge investment I would've thought they exclude shovelware almost automatically
Live service games that are not made to address the need or desire for a game, but to actually make money by exploiting the live service model as quickly as possible
They spend a lot of money under the assumption they'll get a lot back, and the sacrifices they make buy them time to get the game out of the door faster
sigh
Yeah, so many of them would actually do decently well... they just release them too early to try to get cash fast, and have either a lack of content or a lack of polish
Rumbleverse was nice. Needed a bit more support, but unfortunately it closed
ye, rumbleverse is the only one of these i'm sad about, like 6 more months in the oven and it woulda been great
KO city is what got my fiancée affiliate on Twitch 😦 she's super sad about it
She absolutely adores it. At least it's the only one that is trying to do private server availability
I have problems committing to a live service model because an inherent quality of such a model is the game might die before your interest in it does, and thus everything you spent on the game goes down the drain and you can't even play it anymore.
i'm fine with ones like rumbleverse, where all "progress" is 100% aesthetic so there's nothing real to lose
My complaint is one day I'll want to play the game but won't be able to
It's the Epic Games one
It's a battle royale where you play cartoony wrestling champs
fair enough, i read it as "spending time to unlock things is annoying when they're going to go away"
I finished the main campaign of GoldenEye XBLA but wow, Aztec is so hard, even with mouse + keyboard and on Agent difficulty
I fucking knew it! They lied to me
Minecraft does this too when you're "sprinting" on a boat. The camera changes to the sprint FOV, but your speed doesn't change. It merely gives you the illusion of going faster.
It is normally, but not if you have depth strider, iirc.
you lost me at depth strider
minecraft really struggles to load the world if you're going any variation of fast, it shows in like 90% of modpacks that give any speedboosts and you end up flying above unloaded chunks
so it cant boost you that fast
Minecraft struggles to load the world even when I'm standing still
There are a lot of performance mods that can help, but yeah, the fact is that Minecraft is too overloaded in the backend and that Java is not great for loading in the world.
Bedrock is a lot better in this regard, and everything loads smooth as butter, but it comes with its own problems (for me its the stiff and janky controls and the sheer lack of versatility when it comes to mods and datapacks).
Ah, delicious American news
For all of those who say End User License Agreements don't work: ```An American judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed against Nintendo for its Joy-Con drift issues, saying the case cannot proceed because the owners agreed to Nintendo's End User License Agreement (EULA) that "disallows lawsuits".
Despite attempts to argue that underaged children - who used the handheld system - cannot enter into the agreement, the federal judge ultimately ruled that the agreement was with the "de facto owners", the parents, and not the children who actually used the console.
Consequently, the judge dismissed the action, stating that the parents should have entered legal arbitration rather than a lawsuit, as instructed by the EULA```
I don't think it's fair that an EULA forces you into arbitration like that, but I'm not American
how does joy-con drift become a lawsuit problem?
I don't know. I don't have a Switch. My impression is that there's been an outcry because joycon drift happens a lot faster than expected and a lot faster than previous consoles because of shoddy sticks from the one major provider that everyone uses
Nintendo offers free repairs but it's a huge hassle to ship to them every time
So the only options are to either not use the Switch much, simply get lucky, or replace the joycons with ones that rely on a hall effect sensor
or use pro controller
Doesn't that have drifting sticks too?
nope
Oh cool
would I even notice if mine drifted?
Probably would notice
Is it really part of an user agreement that you cannot sue nintendo?
ah that kind of drift
Is that even a thing you can do?
ok then my Switch definitely hasn't done that yet
I have two pairs and both have drift
It's part of Discord's user agreement is you can't sue discord
You have to go through "arbitration"
i personally have only experienced drift on one pair of joycons i had, but ymmv
I'm pretty sure there are legal limits to how much of that you can sign away in practice ("illegal contracts" are a thing), but that's part of what makes all this legally dubious
Yes
Arbitration is like suing but the judge is different, they don't have to follow the law in the same way as a court, and you may NOT enter a class action lawsuit
You may still file individual lawsuits
all modern consoles' official controllers have stick drift, but I have yet to experience it on any of my Xbox (3) or DualSense (1) controllers
I do have D-pad wear out though, but "the floor is good D-pad" applies to modern official controllers anyway
Is God of War the next ''Dark Souls type/style''?
i dont like

Noticing multiple Izzy clones. The mirror pool must have happened again lol
Damnit discord, when I mute and don't follow a channel I don't want to see it shining and at the top of the list!
It just does that
That judge is absolutely nuts. Similar agreements have been struck down in the past.
Not usually? Binding arbitration absolutely is a thing that works and is enforced very regularly.
It’s technically not forced on you because you are given a month to opt out after agreeing to the terms of service.
Though obviously people rarely bother
It depends very much on the exact phrasing and attempted bindings in an individual EULA. Some have greatly overreached and been declared void. Others have not. Right now things lean towards arbitration clauses, especially after a Supreme Court ruling upheld them. However, the judge is still nuts.
Doesn’t seem particularly nuts to uphold a standard clause in an EULA.
Significantly more nuts to do the opposite
I disagree. The law should be changed. Right now, though, the structure of the law itself is nuts.
Okay, but judges are not there to change the law, and indeed generally cannot do that.
You get a legal judgement, not a moral one
The legality of them was up in the air until the Supreme Court decision. So judges can and do decide on the interpretation of the law.
I think the Supreme Court decision was a bad one, personally.
The legality of them is currently not up in the air though
Just because the law says it goes one way does not mean it is reasonable and the judge is still nuts.
Sure.
#Planescape: it seems mandatory to inform chat that I have just met "Lothar, the Master of Skulls" and his impressively long beard
that reminds me, because I am watching critical role I love that in DnD a thing the party can just decide to do is to start beating the shit out of each other as soon as the session starts
and the DM just has to roll (hah) with it
there's a lot of dumb things I'm pretty sure this game would allow me to do that I haven't dared try yet
although I'm particularly tempted by the rumors of this one character who'll stick you in a pocket dimension if you mess with her servants
For the first few dozen episodes of this campaign the party was carrying around this giant manticore head on their cart all around their travels and they did nothing with it, by the end they just dropped this giant rotting manticore head on the street and fucked off to the next town
I can't play those games because I'll just save scum all the time to see what shit I can get away with
''what happens if I just.... punch this NPC right now?''
D&D is awesome

bought a ps5 from the pawn shop yesterday pog
was 450 dollars
had a cod cold war disc inside it too
what finally got me was the modern art museum
...did dead space introduce new enemies? i dont remember seeing enemies ||made up of the destroyed body parts of people||
in the original that is
are you talking about the ||humanoid necromorph that's superhumanly tall and when "killed" parts of it keep crawling toward you?||
https://deadspace.fandom.com/wiki/Divider appears to be in the original
its possible im seeing the warning that enemy will exist
hmm
im in a room with the thing i need obviously in the centre of the room
it looks inviting
its surrounded by what looks like obvious doorways that could close at any moment
the room has obvious enemies frozen in glass tanks
its a room thats literally filled with cryogenic stuff
i've been chased by an invulnerable enemy this whole level that regenerates
theres boxes of ammo and a stasis recharge station
...all of this is probably unrelated
I notice so many of us with Minecraft or Jackbox roles. I miss playing those games with people
we have a minecraft server
i think theres a minecraft thread with more info
jackbox... yeah i should host that more
It would definitely be fun for me. I've had like no reason to play either one of those in months. I haven't seen anyone voice chatting or anything for either one of those
the minecraft stuff is done off-server mostly
So no voice chats usually with it?
not here atleast
That's a big oof
VC here is criminally underutilised and when it is, folks here have some very weird ideas on what VC etiquette looks like
what vc etiquette /j
exactly
I mainly use the VC for sharing my lonely single player games, but most of the time I get people stealing the vc from me and it gets way too noisy
speaking of, I am almost done with Black Mesa but I still need to get all the achievements
then its off to HL2
I mean... Maybe the limit of people that can be in there can be like 10 or something?
what would be the point? we never get 10 people in vc
It was just a thought to maybe stop the problem. I haven't really been active in here
remember when we gathered to play Among Us? 👀
Fun times.
I go back and forth on whether I should be streaming myself playing games that people might want to discuss
on the one hoof, they're usually games I can easily talk about while playing, and since I can't type and play at the same time it's a natural use case for VC
It is fun to talk with people
on the other hoof, almost everyone I know who can hold a conversation seems to lack the internet connection or hardware to watch a stream (or strongly prefers private VCs because:), and the random lurkers/strangers who do join VC really can't hold a conversation
I usually can if someone mentions something I like
so for now I'm basing it largely on how much of my mental bandwidth the game takes up and how "watchable" it is
Planescape fails both criteria pretty hard, for example
(though to be clear, if someone does want to watch and chat about whatever I'm playing, just ask)
I'd like to do that myself, but I doubt anyone would be interested
my skill level isn't crazy high enough
ha, skill
I've got approximately none of that
huh, apparently https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Mount_Celestia is a thing in D&D cosmology
The Seven Heavens of Mount Celestia, also called the Seven Mountains of Goodness and Law, Seven Mounting Heavens of Celestia or Seven Heavens, was the pinnacle of lawful goodness in the Great Wheel cosmology. The Seven Heavens were dedicated to goodness shaped by law and justice tempered with mercy. Some characteristics of this plane were ascrib...
this is not how PR is done lol
just admit you've got finite development resources and running on a potato isn't a high priority
the biggest mistake on all this is the denuvo
offhand I have no idea how many games I've played did or did not have Denuvo
if you don't run into an issue, how would you know?
Mount Celestia starts with the silver sea of Lunia and ascends with more and more ridiculous heavenly mountain peaks, ending with Bahamut at the top.
I remember the quarry launched with denuvo
It's my favorite of the outer planes
Aside from maybe Arborea
I'm hoping Planescape eventually visits at least one of these outer planes, it's made a lot of them sound super interesting
I wouldn't count on it. I know nothing about the game but the Outer Planes are places of uh
It's hard to put it into word
Philosophical ultimates. It's hard to make an interesting story there
Except for the story of how you, an outsider, manages to survive there unchanged, the story of how two planes interact, or the story of how the planes stop being so extreme
Then again, the game is literally called Planescape
one of my companions is an outcast of Limbo that I apparently saved when I visited that plane in a previous life so I think it's doing pretty okay at telling stories there so far
The Outlands, Sigil, and the planes which are neither outer nor inner are all the most conducive to storytelling
indeed, so far we've been running around Sigil
and I think I'm about halfway through the game
I think the new Baldur's Gate has a story about the Nine Hells that works fine. I know a released module for the TTRPG does
also this stupid chaos mage cursed me with hiccups

TIL that the Elder Scrolls 1 and 2 were largely procedurally generated worlds
I'm sure that Bethesda's developers were thankful for that, given how massive the maps were back then.
...still, we would probably have some pretty entertaining articles about the development process had the devs been required to make all ~161,000 km of Daggerfall's map by hand.
That and it probably wouldn't actually have been finished by now
I think I'm the only player that has gotten really far in Mane Merge, because holy crap this game is super grindy.
took a bit but I got thru it
I got my Macbook for WORK. I am definitely not downloaded resident evil village on it right now

I think what's painful is the display's contrast ratio, rather than the visuals themselves 😛
(IPS is… not good for horror games)
the MacBooks do have local dimming, but you can't enable it for SDR content IIRC. (Plus, local dimming slows down the already-slow response times of the display, so it's ill-advised for most games)
I wonder if MacBooks will go OLED one day. There are 16:10 3K 120 Hz OLED displays in some laptops now – this would have been unthinkable just 2 years ago
(not 4K, but 3K 16:10 is pretty good for a laptop; you can target 1440×900 or 1600×1000 with integer upscaling for demanding games)
My phone in 2014 had OLED. It has been a thing for ages
And yeah I don't really see them using OLED
AMOLED isn't the same kind of OLED subpixel structure though, it's less detailed and not suited for displays larger than a tablet
Nor do I entirely want OLED because of the battery drain
Aah okay
that's not a collab i expected
what am I looking at?

This is more effort than they put into their actual sales
I guess I'm glad they're pushing very hard for playable demos, because demos are a good way to avoid unnecessary refunds
But I'm mostly interested in demos for games that are already released

Modrons?
yep
Modrons are very cute. The hierarchy system is super interesting
I liked the modrons in the brothel that were just there to study human behavior
In the lore™️ Modrons have no independence or thoughts of their own and can only communicate one level up or down in complexity. Any higher and their language is too complex. Any lower and they're too inconsequential.
Sometimes Modrons go rogue and develop independent thoughts
The best source on Modrons is the Great Modron March (1997)
The titular march being a crossplanar migration they do every 289 years
They're my favorite
one of my favorite little optional side moments in this game was the modron story you can ask the storyteller to recite
ah, TVTropes' Quotes page for this game has a transcript
"Once upon a time, there existed a Modron. It was newly-created, its logic fresh and untested, and it had come to Sigil, following the commands of its Modron superiors.
"It knew of nothing but commands and dictates, of obedience and passing along the orders of its superiors. For you see, Modrons are only aware of the commands of their immediate superiors - they have no grasp of a higher authority. Until this one.
"One day it came upon a small shop, within which there was a small clock that could no longer tell time. It was cracked along the edges, the wheels of its hands broken. The Modron immediately set itself to work at getting the parts to fix the broken clock.
"It made a new wooden housing for the clock's parts, replaced the bent springs, carefully filed and oiled the clockwork machinery, and carved new hands from the sparse metal available to it. The newly-repaired clock's precise ticking reminded it of the great gears of Mechanus, and it comforted it as much as any thing may comfort a Modron.
"And what the Modron never came to understand was that it truly loved this clock that it had worked on, and for reasons it could not explain, elected to remain in Sigil and be with the clock for the rest of its years."

Quadrones are great
Yep. We talked about this already yesterday. Feels unfair
this is complete bullshit btw
That's binding arbitration clauses for ya.
Typically in binding arbitration clauses the company pays all the arbitration costs, so showing them why binding arbitration clauses are not great only takes time and efforts... From everyone
(you also pay for transport and opportunity cost)
recruitable cube spotted?
it's certainly lived up to the hype so far
like any other RPG, I need a walkthrough handy to keep it playable and fun, but the dialogue trees and general writing quality that I came here for are consistently excellent for every main and side quest I've tried thus far
My first impression was disappointing because all the songs are not a good fit to play in my DnD campaign
I think the only non-obvious caveat would be that the main quest is a very slow burn, since you have no idea who you are at the start and no one else seems to know enough to just tell you all the answers
Classic 90s amnesia story

One might note that Yuzu is already a Switch emulator.
The most unnecessary emulation.

so lately I've been watching videos about games I don't play, and the way https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CpNPLCohUg describes Gothic 1 + 2 and Risen (you start out feeling underpowered, expect to die a lot, the map is open but full of enemies you can't kill yet, most NPCs don't care about you or your quest, "complete lack of hand-holding and that frustrating yet satisfying sense of accomplishment") sounded an awful lot like this stuff you were saying a while back
Gothic 1 really like that....for the first half
The second half it becomes "go there, bring me this and go on another quest"
ah, the video did bring that up (and said Gothic 2 was better on that point) so that's reassuring
Oh yeah, I remember the Gothic series, lots of jank but great series
ah well, I'd never heard of it before so figured it was a toss-up whether you had
I didn't play them much, I mostly know them by reputation, I played around with 2 when I was in my teens

epic!
No, Nintendo
I mean it's just a port with a few extra bells and whistles
I WANT THOSE BELLS AND WHISTLES
i dont think I can go back to 2d kirby after mastapiece 3d kirby
My issue is I already have enough to play with Fire Emblem Engage, The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure finally out officially in the West in March, Trails into Reverie in July plus with Zelda in May too, I'm pretty much set for a large chunk of the year. Advance Wars too if that finally gets a date as well.
Ultimately people wanna see what they wanna see but it does feel a bit sad when other franchises get basically no attention
Like me personally I heard practically nothing about that one Kirby game that came out

I was also unaware anything was going on with Kirby
although personally I'm not sure I'm invested in any of these franchises atm
I feel like Forgotten Land was talked about pretty extensively in Mane
mastapiece
it is a very good gamr
apparently you told me to play Forgotten Land in mid-November and it's been mentioned 5 times since then
I think it just blended into all the other names of Kirbys I've never played
overshadowed by elden ring releasing weeks prior
me?
To be fair, a new Zelda was gonna overshadow most stuff anyway, especially one as a follow up to a game as acclaimed as Breath of the Wild was.
yes?
epic
i dont remmember that lol
but i have
notoriously bad memory
but yes you should play it
its cute and fun and happy

and then it turns into final fantasy
yea
whoa!
HK was 2017 lol
I played it in 2022
ah
we had awards bro
The only thing I remember seeing from Kirby was the cute furry lady but even then I didn't even see that much of it
I thought that game would've blown up a lot more than it did
me neither, I can never remember what I played in a specific year
If you go by games that came out in 2022 my GotY was Xenoblade Chronicles 3
How can you even say that when Maretime Bay Adventure released in may 2022
can't believe maretime bay adventures didn't win goty
Imagine ,like, this battle between genshin impact and sonic frontiers ,and then maretime bay adventures just bursts out into the leader board and completely obliterates both of them by score and goes on a first place
My 2022 game of the year was Elite Dangerous, pretty straightforwardly.
Yes, I know it’s not a 2022 game even if you count Odyssey, but I played it way more than anything else.
Dang we don't have an earthbound role. Oh well - @unreal idol ^ plush
@sour hill ^ See this is why we need an Earthbound role

I hope they ship overseas for not dumb-prices
11,000 yen is a good deal for an item like this
I'll be sure to try and get this, thanks for telling me about it!

I'd be okay dropping that amount
Even a bit more than that
I like the box where it depicts their homes too. That's super awesome

DARK FORCES 2 UNREAL ENGINE REMAKE V1.0
Description:
Welcome to my first Unreal Engine project.
The goal was to recreate one of my favorite games back from my childhood while keeping the base look, feeling and gameplay
and of course learning the engine itself.
After nearly 3 years of development the project is finally at a point wher...
IMO thus far Hogwarts Legacy is the game that the series has been needing forever.
It’s pretty and very well detailed
And Hogwarts is enormous, wow
Yeah the last time we got a harry potter game was the movie license ones
This is awesome, thanks for sharing
every time I think of this game I lay back in my bed with a picture of Wheel of Time and sigh wistfully /s
Maybe Advance Wars will finally get a release date.

Rumor is that we’ll get the full preview of Tears of the Kingdom and a release date for Advance Wars 1+2 Remake
Hoooooping we get some sort of word on Metroid Prime 4, but not really holding my breath on that
really? a full preview of a game that's due to release in a few months? I'm shocked
probably just tell us it's delayed another year
Wouldn’t be surprised if Prime 4 is more a Switch successor game than a Switch game
Man I still need to play the Primes
imagine if they do a launch trailer like the first one had
Same. Honestly at this point that would be the ideal thing.
greatest trailer of all time
I kind of want them to announce the switch 2 tomorrow
Prime 4 was announced at the beginning of the Switch’s lifespan and now we’re at the end of it with nothing in sight.
Probably won’t announce it until this winter or next spring.
But they definitely should announce that soon
Switch is kinda done.
Yeah. The new zelda is expected to be the last major release for the switch
no no, they do the trailer for tears of the kingdom
Make Prime 4 a key launch title for Switch 2
it's big and all
And then its actually skyrim
Goodness gracious i hope they stick with hybrid console, i cant go back to home console only
but then at the end there's a title screen like:
"Tears of the kingdom, only on Nintendo Switch"
Except after a 0.5 second delay the i in switch doubles so it's Swiitch
crowd goes wild
Isn’t portable hardware really really good now
“Sorry it took so long, but here’s a trailer for Prime 4, built with Unreal Engine 5.”
If only.
I could see the Switch brand going on at least one more generation with improved hardware
I hope anyway, Switch is cool as hell
You give nintendo too much credit ma
I kind of think Nintendo needs to build a console brand identity. They tried with the Wii but fucked it up with the shit show known as Wii u
call it Wii 2 you cowards
Nintendo partners with Hasbro and releases Metroid Prime 4 exclusively on Optimus Prime figures that transform into a nintendo switch instead of a truck
i would pay real money for transformer toys that turned into a nintendo switch
funny thing, I'm playing DF2 with OpenJKDF2 right now
that remake looks pretty nice, but I'm playing the later stages currently

Meanwhile the core FFXIV client mod tool is being abused by cheaters to achieve world firsts in new raids and YoshiP is furious about it.
Those client mods give substantial QoL improvements to the interface and the official stance on these mods has always been "just don't use it to cheat and don't discuss it in-game" but the fact that people are now using it to get an advantage for world firsts may result in it getting banned straight up, ruining it for everyone.
Dreading the day when that happens.
Dalamud is a very useful tool =(
From what I heard, it was something about making the camera distance even further, giving them way more of an overview of abilities during the fight?
For the TOP kill, yes
This situation in particoular, is about Gshade and has not much about what the plugin does, and more about the fact that the dev went on an ego trip and decided to put malware into it, that was triggered by a plugin for his plugin he didn't like
Unsurprisingly, the community was unsympathetic to this dev reasons as to why he put malware on their computer
Yeah ghade is officially dead
was about to say, surely someone forked it
It's the other way around
Gshade was a reshade fork
People just went back to that one
oh lol
As MA pointed out, the biggest damage is to the fact that this is more plugin drama, which we don't need
wait what
Since they are already basically not allowed by the TOS, and the devs close an eye on
But if too much stuff with them cause drama, we might force them to crack the whip on that policy
Which would be unfortunate
it's very much a "this is why we can't have nice things" situation
Pretty much

Hype
hope we get to date Ashoka in this one
Just cleared Celeste
How arrogant do you have to be to put actual malware inside your product in order to punish users of a competitor and still think you are the good guy? Holy cow.
sigh
Fuck you Nintendo
is this not the standard price these days?
I dunno, I rarely buy games
But I've never paid $70 for one
I was hoping that price point would stick to meme companies like ubisoft
i think Sony games have moved to 70 dollars too
yea it looks like 70$ is becoming the standard
yeesh
anyways, idk 70$ doesnt feel egregious to me, most of the time it’s games that would probably occupy 100% of my time so i feel like i get me moneys worth
oh it looks like Xbox games are gonna start costing 70 too
Guess we'll see what the Direct brings tomorrow
$70 is indeed the standard as of this generation.
Pretty big buzz kill if this is indeed the case
this is not the point but ive been admiring this art for like 5 minutes now its so pretty
they do are more expensive as fuck to produce now
not all games should be $70
but good quality AAA games does seems a "fair" price
tbh, I really find the whole discourse over game prices kind of meh
for me, all games, all the time, have had the same price upon release
Zelda is a weird one because is an AAA game that will likely get replaced very soon with a better version once the switch 2 comes out
I don't really know why people have the idea that this hasn't always been the case
Games used to be more expensive back in the cartridge days
Remember when N64 games cost $70-$90?
Or even more in some cases
that was because the cartridge itself was expensive as fuck right?
Yep
reason why discs took off so hard
cartridge would be similar to buying a game and coming inside of a ssd in today's time
I was going to say flashdrive but those are cheap as fuck now
Flash is a bit different from ROM, though.
But yeah, I imagine it would be pretty cheap these days. But not as cheap as discs or just downloads.
I remember getting pokemon snap for my birthday and being utterly crushed when I finished it in a day
Because it was so expensive and because it was basically a delayed birthday gift because of it
Yeah for 70 bucks they can keep their overpriced garbage.
Already was not keen in buying a console for the privilege to give them money for their game, exclusivity is bad and Nintendo is the worse of them all about it
The sucky part is that it will trickle to pc as well but its fine, there is like two AAA release a year that are worth buying anymore
you should do what I do
wait for sony to release playstation exclusives on pc!
then suffer because your high-ish end PC still can't play them
The recent sony stuff that came out was playable with relatively mild specs
yeah I don't get it either
I be playing Miles Morales and for half a second my whole computer freezes
Played God of War and Spiderman this and last year, it was fine
and I know it's the computer because the RGBs light up like it lost connection
Horizon Zero dawn was a chore to get running for some godforsaken reason
it turns out I had to turn on gigabyte's program thinger to make the card go woosh even though there's no reason for it to be limited
of course, gigabyte's program thinger causes window's lock screen to not sleep
for REASONS
Spider-man certainly isn't unplayable but it just feels very odd to me
jesus
I looked it up and found this website https://www.gamesindustry.biz/are-video-games-really-more-expensive
If true a super nintendo game would be like 136 dollars in today's money D:
Always loving the sounds
You can game very cheap these days, more so if you don't buy the worst version of games (Day one)
If Switch Homebrew wasn't cancer I'd probably just pirate it
I was reading a how to and one of the steps involved grounding one of the joy con rails, so I immediately dropped the idea
Makes me miss Wii homebrew lol
Now THAT was some fun shit
I remember doing some real goofy shit with an Ftp program so I could watch anime from my PC on the Wii to my CRT
Just because I could lol
I think people are saying might be able to use the Nintendo voucher on the Zelda game.
I guess we'll know soon if Zelda direct is today.
Oh. Are they for digital copies only
Yeah.
Dang
If available I'll buy a physical copy of a game
Unless it's super dumb and limited print or randomly expensive
I dislike digital only unless it's very cheap or my only option
Because if I'm going to be giving Nintendo $70 I at least want a small bitter piece of plastic to suck on so I can cry out my frustration

(Seriously switch games taste like shit listen to past PK)
They actually dropped the bittering agent after a couple years
Can confirm that early cartridges tasted horrible though
They did!?
Now I really am getting ripped off lmao
I shall test this later for science and education purposes only
Tbh I paid £42 for Fire Emblem Engage at launch if I go physical at Argos so I doubt I’ll be paying £60/$70 for Zelda anyway.
If they do put up the prices I wonder if this is part of the reason why.
Oh boy, this game
the reality of inflation is that wages and prices both have to go up eventually, so for a company that's not in any immediate cash flow danger, there's probably no strong direct causation
Problem is wages have went way down compared to inflation, so people have a lot less money they can justify spending on luxuries.
And prices went up anyway!
part of my gripe is Nintendo has enough cash on hand to operate at a net loss for decades and still be in business or some insane shit
and are just in general an extremely successful company
so in my eyes, this has nothing to do with inflation or combatting the rising costs of game development, it's simply greed
I believe a big reason Nintendo holds on to such a large amount of cash is to immunise itself from takeovers
yeah, part of what's effed up about the current world economy is the wealth inequality being so huge that this is effectively true for a lot of people, and instead the inflated prices are targeting the most affluent consumers left
that would make sense
It's how even with the Wii U's struggles they didn't get taken over, well that and the 3DS eventually becoming successful after a dodgy launch....
especially how in the early 00s they were able to literally laugh Microsoft out of a meeting room when they offered to buy them
and that too
This is exactly what regional pricing exists to help with - capturing every slice of the market including those with less money, by offering cheaper prices to those who tend to have less money, like the elderly or people in poorer countries
Unfortunately, Nintendo doesn't do much of that
In today's "what the flying fuck, customer?". This is like a fifth of the entire message. One of multiple emails of similar length he has sent.
u have ruined my life now and i have nothing to get up to an play with
others now anymore thx to all ur fucking payment errors, is just too alte
now and u have soured my gameplay xperience and WASTED these past 5 months
of me farming achvies and rep and building my guild. I i will miss these
ppl SO much, tehre is nother mmo games by now ppl without smartphones or
anal buttplugs can sign up to and sub to without FUCKING ERRORS or these
exasuting useless support tickets which u cant even make without a fucking
phone.```
this might be a risky button to press, but that's not surprising at all for a japanese company
many big japanese companies treat their global markets as if they behave, earn, and spend identically to japan and the US bay area
because apparently smartphones are part of a nazi new world order and require chips in your butt to work...? According to this guy.
konami suffers from this massively with yugioh which is why it's such a clown show in the west

Thing is, with Microsoft and Sony already having upped the price of games and Nintendo being in the rare position of having the cheapest games I feel it was only a matter of time before their game prices at launch were also gonna go up, for the top tier stuff like Zelda and Mario anyway... Though I would imagine they might of held off until the launch of the Switch's successor to do so.
oh damn
All DLC pack is 62% off
okay I think it's time I finally get this game
i should get synchron
I'm late to the Zelda at 70 bucks convo but in my opinion it just feels super egregious coming from nintendo specifically due to their practices lol
which practices?
Overpriced stuff that seldom goes on sale and their overreliance on limited things like when they made that "remastered" collection of Mario games a limited purchase for some reason even though it's a digital release and not a physical one, felt like an attempt to manipulate people into buying it because it's limited and not because the product was worth it which it wasn't and still isn't
Or how the Skyward Sword remaster/re-release was like 60 bucks when the original was still in stores and was like 30 or 40 still, that rerelease does include some nice changes but it's nothing so major that it warranted a 60 dollar price tag let alone the original which was already ten years old or even more
the $70 Zelda will probably be felt more in the long run than on other platforms, because Nintendo isn't known to heavily discount their older-but-still-popular releases
see how much MK8 Deluxe still costs today, despite being released like 5 years ago (and itself being an updated version of a Wii U game)
