BSAA jill is in fact fire
And this is...
Uh...
We don't talk about this one
tru
hope her RE4R outfit will look close to this
that'd be neat
this outfit is fire
it looks like that's gonna be the case minus the sleeveless look which is a shame
RE4 ada is badass though
We'll see
what I'll likely think is that "man you could have made her sexy but practical and instead you did less sexy without any additional practicality"
Yeah, I fear that too
If you wanna go full practical, might as well just go with the assignment ada outfit
But her entire deal is that she's this femme fatale super spy type character and her being sexy is part of her charm
and also she likes to fuck with Leon
figuratively
Alsomaybe literallyt
maybe
it's a cool outfit, I can definitely see them removing the midriff and the short sleeves if they were to add it to RE4, I just know it would happen
personally I wish they would just go with the red dress but I understand if they wanna go for something else, I just hope it's still reminiscent of the red dress
That's honestly all I want
Damn that milspec
That's spicy actually wheres that at
That's concept art for RE4
I really really dig that short dress with pantyhose look
Hoping they will go for that
That's the re2 look
malewife Leon you say 👀
That's pretty similar
THe only difference is the lack of heels
Which like. . . that's probably fair
except she does wear heels and a red dress in the remake... but of RE2
oh hey I thought it was an unused concept but it's her outfit for mercenaries mode in RE4, that's actually really neat it looks amzing
females can naturally perform just as well with heels than without them, of course /j
I don't really know what else I'd make her wear, though...
are thigh high boots really comfortable for the kind of stuff she does though?
Yes
25 inch platform heels
Like I wear thick heeled boots to work
They're relatively practical and also make me tall
tol tale
oh hey this is cute
also she has boots here
just some standard boots
I guess this is just Ada's like, most common outfit? It shows up in a lot of things and it also shows up in RE:Verse, which I had no idea it did, it looks great too
well, the fucked up version of it at least
SHORTS
Oh no I think that's just shadow
Thats a good example of what I mean
Well i choose to belive it's black tight shorts
all the sexiness with added practicality
it's just the artstyle of the thing
which I don't know where it comes from...
probably some mobile game
it is yeah, also not the first time they went for that sort of cartoonish-chibi style
Leggings over skirt is something that's far underutilized
shes cute
She's pretty stronk in MvC yeah
just
RE 1 jill but shredded
change my mind
SEe
That's what peak performance looks like
:awooga:
idk why but awooga makes me laugh really hard
That's the idea
"I'm a member of S.T.A.R.S."
how do you say S.T.A.R.S.
How I miss MvC2 Jill.
do you say every letter individually or like stars
stars
this is how I feel about Samus tbh, in early games she was amazonian and ripped and then I think it was Prime that made her not as ripped
nitpick but ''ripped'' shouldn't be used as a synonym of 'buff'
gomenasorry, I don't see it
she is athletic, but I don't think she was an amazonian
Yeah she was never really depicted as super buff or anything
also wow that Smash render
👁️ 👁️
this is probably my favourite of Samus' ''casual'' outfits
it's better than Zero Suit
I think she should be ripped tho
that's just the one magazine and even then she's not really buff there
=3=
yeah the magazine being Nintendo Power
It wouldn't hurt
To shreds, you say
It would hurt, actually
Being ripped isn't the greatest physique to have
You'd get exhausted easily and that's not great for Samus
. . . okay maybe this is a word difference thing
when I say ripped I mean "peak physical performance"
^
Ripped doesn't mean that, ripped means someone who is muscular but also has a low body fat percentage
that's why I said that earlier
Which is usually "not a male musclebuilder but more muscular than is generall considered sexy"
you can just say athletic if you want to refer to that which wouldn't be too far off from what Samus usually does
I guess I'm hesitatnt to say that because I want her to be 200 lbs of muscle and power
me too
That would work... if she was more of a tank
athletic is usually "a little muscle without losing the generally accepted female sexy form"
but Samus is a pretty athletic and nimble bounty hunter
Well that's just because females don't build as much muscle as men usually tend to do
Is it so wrong I want to be attractive to someone
without being an hourglass
=3=
Sometimes building muscle makes you less femme, it happens
Not all the time, it depends on what the person specializes in
Fine, maybe I just want a woman who looks like me
=3=
I get it, I'm ugly, but
I just
I just want that
there's this cosplayer/artist I follow called Nyaaati and for years she's been documenting her journey with her physique and I'd say she looks pretty femenine and she still looks strong
I wanted to be strong and so I worked out but it made me topheavy and not very feminine looking
and I'd like it to be okay for samus, notable badass lady, to look like I do
So yes maybe my logic is not super sound I'd just really like this to be true
as opposed to "no all women except tale look like this, and this is the way they should look or else they're poorly designed"
Which like maybe I am but still
ouch?
That's all
People love strong women until they exist irl, basically
Or at least until I exist irl
i admit some women wear the muscle more gracefully than I do
Maybe I'm just having a problem, I
i'll just
go
wrong
It's fine
IIRc there was a lady in tekken that was definitely not the classic hourglass figure
I may be wrong tho, I don't play fighting game, I just vaguely remember a gameplay video and I think it was of Tekken
I don't know about Tekken but people have been going crazy over the new SF6 characters Manon and Marisa
Hard to tell with those poses
this is probably what I'd like Samus to canonically look like, maybe bigger legs because all that jumping and running is just going to definitely make your legs pretty powerful, but I wouldn't want her to be big or shredded or anything
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DE92wF7-L9c yes this was the footage

I'm just saying 'ouch my feelings'
I wasn't directly replying to anything you said Tale I was just saying it

and yes that's Marisa and another new character of SF6
I have no idea how you look, just brought up an example of a character that has a different bodytype from the usual fighting game figure
she's got this whole Spartan thing going on
(in case her hair shape didn't already tell you that
)
Because the conversation reminded me of that footage
. . . okay that's definitely closer
She does look like she could break every bone in my body with a thought
We also don't get enough old ladies in fighting games
I want her to beat me up
I'm kinda sad that they nerfed Juri and other female characters in SF6 because SFV Juri looks like she could snuff the life out of me with just her arms don't even get me started on her legs
Chun Li is like 50 years old or something but she still looks young ish
Yeah I mean that look old
gen why are you spray bottling me
and skinny too, rip the buff Chunners of SFV
We get a lot of silver haired fighters with dudes.
As in, for old age
Not only because japan
SF5 Chunners looks like she could rip off your head
Okay that's def superior
I was kinda hoping they'd age Chun Li a bit more for 6 yeah
Although I don't want to feel too old by seeing these classic characters getting older
let me live my fantasy
you had to see pones get older
I think it'd be kind of cool to see them age tho
Ryu and Ken definitely aged
but yeah other characters are still relatively young looking, Chun Li just looks like she's at most late 30s or something
To be fair, Ryu doesn't look 50 either
Ryu looks more if he got Chris Redfield to be his stunt double for a game
He does diet and exercise
he doesn't look 50 but he does look older for sure
and that's also true, these are people who train daily probably
fighters with peak physiques
I refunded a couple of games on Steam, but is the money gonna be available to me within six hours or seven days? https://i.imgur.com/I2kDawf.png
It says two things
I'm trying Human Fall Flat and so far I really don't like it
I get it's meant to be a funny silly game but you're just fighting the controls. It makes it annoying to me, not funny.
Eh maybe
I wanna try it past the tutorial
And cause my sister wants to play it with me
I think it'
I think it'll be fun if just mesing around, like in a gmod sorta way of messing around, but platforming with these control is so hard
I don't even like platforming much anyway
One tap
As always, I am absolute shit at puzzles
That moment when you go somewhere then get an achivment for going in a secret area, before finding where you are actually supposed to go
I always have the issue of not knowing where to go or what to do in games
And constantly stumble upon secret areas on accident
I find secret areas before finding the main way in Doom as well
I was supposed to break through this wall but instead I found some secret way around the wall it seems
guuuuys, there's something wrong with my copy of Slay the Spire!
Peglin is very nice but not nearly as well polished as Slay the Spire
It has a lot of potential still
to be fair, you have to have a high IQ to understand the phlog

Oh, god no

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
honestly, kinda tight
Knowing how banks work and refunds in retail I have either in it’ll be 7 (working) days when your bank has the money back in your account, though it’s likely to be sooner than that, they usually say that long to cover themselves. As for why it says 6 hours there, that could how long it takes for Steam to send the instruction to credit your account to your bank
No
Steam doesn't refund money to your bank account. It refunds money to your steam wallet
Huh, isn’t there a choice in that? I’m positive I got my money back when I refunded something on Steam. Anyway if you had it added to your wallet then… yeah no clue why that says what it does for you
Well here's an update: https://i.imgur.com/dYsMEva.png
I got the money back in less than seven days
I refunded Cyberpunk and the money went to my card not to my steam wallet
There should be an option to choose whether you want the money in your steam wallet or back to the account when you refund
I think it depends where you spent the money. If it was from your steam wallet, they refund it to your wallet
Yeah, I always put money in my wallet first then spend it through the wallet for convenience. I don't get to choose where the money goes back to
Oh yeah
The eye demon is so fucking good
It will shoot lasers in your direction, allowing you to control where the damage goes
The other one is a sword demon, which has much more limited range but very high DPS
I am now Anomaly Research rank 145 in Sunbreak, and my goal is 200 which is the maximum rank right now. I also somehow got the skill bloodlust and furious on my rathalos set.
blergh. i've been super enjoying playing timberborn with mods, then seeminly overnight abuot 1/2 of the best and most essential mods i use were moved to a new mod platform without warning and it seems that platform doesnt have a modloader so i cant just plug and play
that was honestly a really stupid decision
Took a break from stellaris to replay RE2
I was SO CLOSE to an S rank when I did these too
If I hadn't dicked around as much early on i probabl;y could have easy
did you have fun
I did
The mid birkin fight is the most annoying for sure
of the 3 hits I took I took two of them there
what is birkin
boss man
be aware i am only familiar with RE4 and 8
and a little bit of 7
im assuming the silence is disbelief at the fact I still call myself a RE fan
love Gordon
was about to call him a himbo but he's smart so that doesn't fit
He's just quiet
He's a narcissist too~

The Nephilim Sector is a violent area of the galaxy in which the advancing Indomitus Crusades are locked in all-out war with a dynasty of Necrons awakening from their aeons-long slumber. We first visited it in the most recent edition of Warhammer 40,000, and we returned in the latest season of Matched Play. Soon we’ll see it in a completely new ...
Looks actually awesome
Seems to be a series rather than a game
But I am compelled to remind people that every time a 40k anything is made, the gods toss a coin, if it lands on its edge its good
It being an animated project if anything gives me some more hope
Here's an in-depth look at how we translate hand-painted character art into the in-world characters you see in Hades. 3D artist Paige Carter walks you through each step of the process, using her work on Nyx as an example.
Play Hades on Nintendo Switch: http://supergiant.games/hadesswitch
Play Hades on Steam: http://supergiant.games/hadessteam
...
man I REALLY need to play Hades
woah, really? a 40k animated series?
really nice actually, 40k is one of those things I always hear about but know absolutely nothing of and I'm sure it's the case for a lot of people
Darktide was really successful I feel in making a lot of people get into 40k
i mean, 40k has been popular for decades lol
Darktide was really succesful in making a lot of people who previously weren't into 40k know about or get into 40k*
darktide is one of the best 40k games tho even with its missing features and terrible optimisation
(if anyone wants to play darktide btw im down, i love that game)
(not right now tho im playing D&D)
@junior salmon for when you return
I played some Railroad Tycoon II today waiting for certain other things to happen. I decided to play the second scenario of the base game campaign because I had gotten a silver medal the last time I tried it. The difference between the silver and gold medals is that to get the gold you have to finish the tasks needed for the silver a few years earlier, by 1859. Well, this game I played, in my opinion, exceptionally well, building an extremely large and very profitable railroad...but one of the tasks needed to complete the mission slipped by just a few months into 1859, so I got the silver. Again.
Very frustrating.
this tech has been known since forever lol
it mostly ends up used in MvM since bots are easier to exploit for standing on
you do! i started a new playthrough yesterday cause i missed it. i didnt think id retain so much skill, i made it all the way to elysium in like seven attempts
it took me at least thirty the first time around to do that
and i havent played since like may '22
According to rumors that are intensifying by the day, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is one of Nintendo’s final “big” games for Nintendo Switch and now most development teams are focused on the successor.
5627
423
They still make those rumors, eh?
Yeah, rumor mill over the past week or so is saying that a Switch Pro was cancelled outright and Nintendo is switching focus to the next generation console.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
In my mind that makes sense in a way, a Switch Pro is kinda late as it is
I'm pretty sure it'll likely be something like Switch 2 anyway
I could see that
Nintendo would never give up their dominance in handheld market, but it's stupid to make two consoles for that
There are a lot of Nintendo rumors this New Years.
Yeah, I’m sure they’ll do something to capture portability
They pretty much own the entire market tbh
They’ll have to compete with the Steam Deck.
Steam deck is a totally different target
It is but they may have to consider it anyway
Hopefully they would realize that improved hardware will make things way better.
I feel like Steam Deck has kinda made the Switch somewhat irrelevant to power users who are interested in emulation.
Yeah hopefully
I'm pretty sure that is like the very little part of their market anyway
Fair point
Basically I can't see Steam Deck as a competitor of Switch
They are simply too different.
Yeah, you’re right
They're not in full competition but each does fullfill some of the uses of the other
Yup. World would be better if they think what made their 'competitor' successful and improve their consoles
But both of them would still stay successful without getting bothered by their 'competitor'
Nobody still truly knows the intent of Nintendo, so we should see what they will come up with
One is still basically a console and one a pc
I'm one cent off
So my options are either get it with credit card money or wait a day so I can get a trading card to sell
you saying that is giving me wii u flashbacks
More than likely the pandemic had a major decision in that as well
Its just a better screen
i mean, we also got the direct downgrade to the switch with the switch lite
Hardware was basically the same.
so maybe, the basic switch is the switch pro
Plus the pandemic making hardware scarce for basically two years probably also had something to do it being canned
ye
reason why i called it a direct downgrade is a. you're kinda stuck with the joycons attached, which do drift iirc, and b. you can't dock it properly
they're not much of a downgrade, but they're still present
oLED has some nice improvements but it doesn't have any more power over the original switch.
nintendo virtual boy....... 2!
but this time its like two decades later n the technology is actually viable now
I don't think they would do VR as their main console. It's a bit too much of a specialized thing, and not everybody wants to jump into VR to relax and play games.
I honestly don't think we will be getting a "Switch 2" anyway, at least not in the strictest sense. Now will it be a hybrid device? Probably but predicting Nintendo's next moves has always been a mug's game due to the company's unpredictability. Though quite what they would do that's outside the box is a bit of a mystery.
its a headset
just a headset, no controllers
So the VR equivalent of the Kinect? Ok I hate myself for even thinking of that...
They're kind of stuck because if it isn't another Switch type they'd have to make two consoles to unmerge the home/handheld design.
They could keep the Switch Lite going as a budget handheld option going if they go home console only i guess...
It makes sense to stay with the hybrid model, they're not going to make a console on par with the Ps5/Xbox. And they won't give up the handheld market.
agreed
Switch let them unify all their developer teams.
3DS 2
the switch is, in my opinion, the best "console" made
atleast out of the last 5 gens of consoles
I think they'll do updated joycons and keep the oled screen.
Yeah I agree. The others to me are just.. Computers that connect to your tv
yep
the switch brings something unique that pc cant do
...ok that was true till the steam deck came out
There are a lot of Switch copycats in the PC space now.
it's getting increasingly hard to define "PC" or "console"
which just proves my point tbh
and personally I still play nearly everything on my potato laptop
consoles are for exclusives not quite old enough to emulate
Xbox is a real good emulation machine, it even plays PS1/PS2 games better than a PS5.
Seems pretty easy to me, mostly because consoles are only available from a limited number of OEMs. Dell doesn't make XBoxes or what not.
I'm not sure what definition that implies other than a list
what we mean by that is that a console is basically a pc with custom software at this point
they use the same hardware and do the same job in the same way
the only really unique thing about a ps5 vs a pc connected to a tv with a controller is playstation exclusives and PSN
and pc does PSN better anyway
Xbox and PC they're almost 1:1 at this point. I think you can access steam and game pass with a controller without using a mouse and keyboard.
For better and worse. Many teams made the jump to home consoles fine but then we have Game Freak…
game freak solely released their games on handhelds
if anything the reverse was true, they struggle to upscale to the better hardware
Game Freak are a company that has the size and resources of an indie developer from the late 2000s but with an IP that makes more money than pretty much any in the video game space.
Ok maybe I’m being pretty harsh but on the technical side GF are just plain rubbish.
Yeah...
I love how under Shadows in this config menu it goes from Low to High and then for the highest they use Ludicrous
They have technically existed for a long time. I remember back in maybe 2016 wanting a GPD Win. It was low end sure, but it was a portable gaming pc.
I wanted the original weird one that had a controller and keyboard hybrid
Being 14 I never ended up getting one
The low end terrible ones sound like something Ashens would review. Oh wait...
UK Supplier: http://bit.ly/1EK1alZ
Alan's YT Channel Team VVV: https://www.youtube.com/user/TeamVVV
Also! Apparently you can get 5% off at Funstock if you use the code "TEAMVVV"
Turns out this was a 7800B not a 7800 - it didn't say on the box but I spotted some print on the device itself.
Sure but the switch was a dedicated platform from one of the biggest gaming companies on earth
The things ashens reviewed were glorified tablets with shitty mobile games
Yeah definitly
Same with Steam Deck, it being from a big company to push the idea even more.
And an android tablet with controllers doesn't sound too bad if it has good specs. There are quite a few mobile games that make use of controller. Or you can emulate games.
The only thing I’m skeptic all about with this is that I feel like tears surely has to be a launch title for the next console.
but it has a release date in may
do you think they will release a console in may that hasnt even been announced
Yea
Well no but it wouldn’t surprise me if there was a console announced for like July or whatever
Presumably mario odessy 2 will be the next launch title
Unless it's reserved for metroid prime 4
or those are somehow secretly the same game because crossover
it's reserved for StarFox F-Zero ExciteBike Wave Race Switch 2
or just Mother 4 maybe
I'm tired of all these crossovers
Why doesn't it say Tribes of Midgard on the thumbnail?
Doom Eternal is a decent deal but other than that nothing worth paying for
and with prime, some weird stuff
Never heard of any of these four
LAWN MOWING SIMULATOR LETS GO
Also the PS5 UX remains way better than computer attached to a television
The best feature of consoles is that they actually work
Having a dedicated gaming machine is very conducive to having a stable OS.
Steam machines are neat but still hacky and require a lot of fiddling around.

just use a hdmi cable
modern chromecasts have steam-links built in too
I have a computer hooked up to my television. Using an HDMI cable, incidentally.
The computer has problems including:
- random launchers with varying degrees of controller-usability
- mouse cursors appearing while using a controller for no good reason
- HDR is a mess
- screenshot buttons working on the controller? maybe! Probably not though.
- games that have solid controller input on consoles but don’t implement it on PC
- Windows deciding to interfere
- Games launching at random resolutions or incorrect aspect ratios
The PS5 has none of this. Things just work.
There are some benefits to using a computer plugged in to your television, but they mostly involve save syncing (also unreliable!) and sharing purchases with your other PCs, if those are things you have.
Oh I said resolutions twice.
ok
Oh, and a general lack of good, controller-friendly UI. New Steam Big Picture is something but it is super buggy
I mean, there are definitely reasons to use consoles
That said, I do feel that the largest advantage they kinda gave it up for free now that almost no games have couch co-op features ourside of fighting games
Even something as simple as launching games via the new Steam big picture mode is hit and miss. Oftentimes you’ll have to alt-tab into the game you just launched. Or you’ll have to use a mouse to go through the launcher that Steam launches to actually start the game. Consoles don’t need to do this.
That is a super silly bug. Launch the game, nothing happens. Time to go get the keyboard so you can hit alt tab to focus the right thing.
Also fuck exclusivity
Dedicated operating systems are great.
In essence it is impossible to operate a computer without a keyboard and mouse.
Fuck exclusivity indeed
Also if you go all in on Steam Big Picture then you can get neat account switching. Cool!
Until you play a game published by Microsoft that just uses the system account and ignores your Steam account entirely
Except for Microsoft games.
At which point you need to dig into the credentials cache in Windows.
Or Ubisoft, which uses your save game correctly but logs you into the wrong Ubisoft account, with potentially bizarre consequences
(Hope you weren’t attached to your cloud save!)
Or EA, which does who knows what with the EA app
EA, which does cloud saves but only sometimes
When? Nobody knows. It’s random.
Just launch and close it until it works.
They did try to solve the QOL problems with Steam Machines, which was a good idea executed terribly
Clearly there are advantages to the PC as well or I would not bother.
They’re doing it again now that they have Steam Deck. They’re definitely making progress, but it’s early days.
The new Big Picture experience is improved
But still very buggy
(They are: Steam save sync (when it actually works); Steam Deck compatibility; that’s about it in the living room context.)
Steam Deck by all accounts is pretty well executed
Yep
Oh, and better graphics. You can have those.
Definitely not the dumpster fire that was Steam Machines
The Steam Deck is the only reason I bother to have a PC attached to my television
Hopefully they can reiterate on it
So I can play there and then take things on the go
(When the game actually supports save syncing, and also runs correctly on the Steam Deck)
Aw
I am not sure if I'd want to play Dwarf Fortress on a handheld
This sounds like a nightmare
⛏️ have I mentioned I love DF and it's all I actually want to talk about now?
Nah, I just want to be able to switch between the giant screen and my normal computer at will
Yeah, that makes sense
DF is great. I still don’t understand it though
12 years in: same
It's been long enough since launch, I would be remiss not to share the legendary Boatmurdered let's play. https://lparchive.org/Dwarf-Fortress-Boatmurdered/
55 updates... This is huge
And it predates Youtube babyyyy
It menaces with spikes of bread
The bane of coeliacs
Sometimes we have problems with playing games at my friends place using their computer and the living room tv
Luckily at home denzy only really plays FFXIV and some emulators so we haven't had many issues beyond resolution tweaking
I assume that's GoW: Ragnarok and just didn't put the full title there
Its the 2018 one. Ragnarok isnt on steam lol
hitman 3 was VR game of the year? wasnt it's VR mode trash?
I see
I still need to finish that.
its better with firends, if yo ahve time we can play whenever
I was playing with someone else a while back, but life happened and we stopped.
:(
Better than we happened and life stopped
It was good for them. Better sleep schedule and a job.
Raft with friends is great.
Death Stranding feels like a weird on the go choice.
It is pretty weird
Considered it's voted, I wonder if it's a joke that it's a game about going from place to place?
You can pretty much put any game for any category IIRC
It does run okay on the Steam Deck so you can at least take it on the go
But I kinda suspect it is. And then once something is nominated I suspect the category is essentially irrelevant and it becomes a popularity contest.
(See also the VR category)
Can't say, never tried Hitman 3 in VR
why are there like 549039 different Hitman games
because
There have been like, 2 reboots of the franchise
more than 2 i think
I think 2 but I might be wrong
tho hitman is the modern one you want to start with i think
not to be confused with hitman which is the original
That's a good joke but the 1st game isn't called Hitman
It's called Hitman: Codname 47
Also apparently I was wrong, it only got one reboot
I was sure that Hitman: Absolution was a reboot but no, it just sucked
lol
I do find crazy that the steam deck now have more good sony games
than the vita ever had
lol
everything has minecraft
the DS doesnt have minecraft
Pick up Hitman 3 before Jan 26, if you want the Hitman 1 & 2 content for free.
btw the modern hitman games are a LOT of fun
especially if you're in a VC doing stupid shit with mates
I think 20.99 USD for HM3 to get the rest for free by month's end is a steal.
I claimed Hitman 2016 for free on EGS a while ago, Hitman 3 still seems a bit expensive on sale, even if it includes content from the first 2 games
does that apply after the merge too? The article isn't very clear on that
it's a gamble at this point, I guess it depends on whether you expect WoA to be $21 or less on future sales anytime soon
Pretty safe gamble tho, that's a lot of content for $21
HITMAN 3 will become ‘HITMAN World of Assassination’, which will also include access to HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 through our existing Access Pass system. Current HITMAN 3 owners will get a free upgrade to HITMAN World of Assassination on all platforms
Includes: HITMAN 3, plus H1 GOTY Access Pass and H2 Standard Access Pass.
Anything you have prior to this merging can still be accessed that way too if you want.
That is neat.
you are neat
https://youtu.be/QYVMsoDPClU the amount of detail in this game man
will I sound like a hipster if I say that I hate how every game nowadays has to be made into an fps or tps?
Seeing the video it's a super cool and fascinating effort by whoever is doing it but damn if I wanted to play Fallout 2 I wouldn't want to play it as an FPS because of how iconic the top view is for that kind of game
I'm not sure what you mean by "how every game nowadays needs to be made into an fps"
this is just a cool little project a fan was working on
It mostly reminded me of game remakes and new entries into franchises, not this one project in particular which I said I find cool and fascinating but it's not something I'd probably want to try
games like RE and God of War come to mind for example
oh that's what tps means
I don't know, I guess I appreciate the style of the original Fallout and I wouldn't want to change it for an FPS which I've already played millions of
but it's still cool to see fans do that kind of stuff, for sure
third person shooter, although god of war isn't technically a shooter it still completely got rid of the fixed camera cinematic style of the original games and went for the regular over the shoulder third person style
I guess the axe kinda makes god of war count as a shooter, technically
I think the over the shoulder is better and puts me in the shoes of the character better
I like how the fixed camera made the games a lot more cinematic without taking away control from the player like the over the shoulder games tend to usually do, it also allows to see the action far better and in sequences like the most catastrophic in god of war 3 it really lets you see the SCALE of the fights and events much better
I actually said this once about Ragnarok and how the actual Ragnarok didn't really felt as catastrophic and destructive as it should've been, mostly because you're stuck with the claustrophobic viewpoint of the over the shoulder camera and it doesn't let you appreciate the war and destruction and chaos going on
meh, I also don't really like the tone of the original GoW's either lol
I loved seeing Kratos as this small little dude fighting these colossal creatures but it still made you feel powerful
I can also go on about the fixed camera in survival horror games which I firmly believe third person shooters/over the shoulder don't really come close to being as efficient as those too
the tone of the original GOW doesn't seem that much more different than the new ones to me
I mean there's no sex scenes in the newer ones which is a big plus to me
huh?

I know people complained about that kinda stuff but it never seemed like a big deal to me
I find it's a kinda dumb thing to complain about when the rest of the original god of wars is excellent even Kratos as a character
sorry but I fucking hate them lmao
It's part of the reason I couldn't get into The Witcher 3 either
when it comes to greek mythology and even greek culture in general I feel like Kratos going around doing that minigame is about the tamest most inoffensive stuff in the games imo
idk, I just think the newer ones are way better. but I'm not super passionate about GoW like you are so whatever
also I think me saying that that minigame makes me uncomfortable is reasonable and not weird
I never said it was weird or that it wasn't reasonable
I feel like you implied it
mmm no I was just giving my view on it which is that it never bothered me especially considering all the fucked up things in greek mythology and in the games, I just said it was dumb that other people complained about it because I think it's like, super unimportant and there's way bigger things to 'complain' about like Kratos going on a murderous revenge rampage instead of simply sleeping with women that want to sleep with him
ok
alright
I tried the original GoW once a loooong time ago, and for whatever reason it was just meh for me so when I got stuck somewhere (still dunno if that was a bug or what) I just dropped it
on camera angles in general, I really think it depends on the game but we should also not talk as if over-the-shoulder vs fixed angles is a strict binary dichotomy; heck, the games I think did fixed angles best are ones like SH2 where it’s only fixed in specific places where they have a specific angle they wanted to use
my experience with RE1-2 so far has convinced me that exclusively fixed angles is basically guaranteeing that several encounters will become fights with the camera instead of the enemies
(again, those games are great, very minor issue overall and certainly acceptable in the PS1 era, but it did regularly happen)
Not at all, but my point was more that I appreciate unique styles like that which aren't used anymore for whatever reason (because people think they're outdated and janky when they're only as outdated as janky as the developers want them to be
) and therefore I have no excitement or passion for yet another third person shooter or first person shooter, especially not a game that wasn't a TPS/FPS but got turned into one
I like approaches like Dino Crisis and Silent Hill 1-3 and I feel like it's the best way to tackle fixed camera angles, I think even Bloober Team has done it on one of their games
God of War certainly has done it too, the camera perfectly allows for full view of the action as well as full view of whatever platforming or puzzle you have to do, or just for general cinematic purposes
a sequence like the Last Spartan in GOW II not only wouldn't work but also would be far less impactful/memorable if it was in the same style as the new god of war games for example
even Devil May Cry, which always utilized fixed camera angles but ever since DMC4 opted for a bit more of a free camera style, always locks very far away from you and gets into cinematic fixed camera positions to allow you to see the action very well
does anyone else remember Minecraft
Yeah. Ancient game.
They're finally fixing this problem
Essentially, these two changes will mean that all new players and existing HITMAN 3 owners will have the same base content ownership. There will be no more confusion over which edition to buy, what content you own, how to redeem Legacy packs or import locations, etc. We’re done with that.```
Hopefully they don't introduce alternative monetization options and fuck everyone over again
It also made it Game of the Year on Steam https://store.steampowered.com/steamawards
For VR
Interesting to hear you say that. My sister wants me to get it but I was never sure if I would enjoy it.
damn, none of the games i voted for even showed up as nominations
That's normal for me because I mostly play indie games
wait this isn't media
I have that channel hidden
And now since I'm curious I have to actually find it
#nonmlp-media-news
I never look in that channel... Maybe I should. I go to manechat or tailchat for nonmlp media stuff
Same
Now that’s a milestone.
About time
wow
oh now they fix it
And Hitman 3 is on a decent sale
I'm not sure if I should pick it up just in case they raise the price after the name change
Or if I should wait for a deeper sale
yeah, it's a tough choice
it was deep enough for me, but I still haven't circled back to playing any of H1 or 3
I got High on Life
Yes scroll up
That and if you buy it now you get the other 2 games content with it as well.
I already have almost all of it

Jasper videos are great
Scrolling textures sounds very insignificant
Correct
It's not just one scrolling texture
It's multiple layered in a specific way
Nintendo is great because they get interesting and complicated effects from extremely simple/cheap methods
It also allows them to make neat stylistic choices
Finally removed For Honor from my steam account. I think things are gonna be much better from now on.
Another one of those MLP fan games that rebranded itself to be copyright compliant, like Thems Fightin Herds did
Didn't realize they did a rebranding kinda thing

6.5mb/s down felt like a lot a while ago...
Why does High on Life just have an entire, like, 80s movie I can watch on a TV. I've been watching this movie for maybe 15 minutes and I am convinced they have the entire full movie.
Don't even know what movie it is. Has some like, gf/bf highschool drama stuff.
Wait. It's Tammy and the T-Rex. 1994 movie.
I am 100% sure they put a whole movie in the game
They seem like that kind of developer
This is a first, for a game to.. I think, just casually include a whole movie as a background thing
Yeah

kinda wild how I got more style points using V than Dante and Nero...
Seems like I gotta replay the mission two more times, it is pretty easy to rack up a lot of damage using V's insane damage output and Nightmare
The fun part about this mission is that it's co-op so you can play with buddies who are also playing this mission
Seriously how they didn't add a co-op multiplayer mode for something like Bloody Palace is insane to me, it would've been such a great addition to the Special Edition
Luckily there's a mod that makes the game multiplayer but it would just be nicer if it was an official feature, they already did that for DMC3SE on the Switch
Nire, have you seen Metal Wolf Chaos?
that doesn't ring any bells to me
surprising considering super best friends did a playthrough of it
I wasn't a huge fan of Super Best Friends proper back in the day, I mostly got into it suuuper late into the game and like a year or two before they disbanded, I mostly knew about them thanks to 2snack's two best sisters play animations
I only got into Woolie and Pat (and Paige and Eli's) streams after they were all separated already unfortunately
the only thing I did watch were the shitstorms

have never installed a mod for a steam game before, I never know if they can mess something up or not or if it's safe and allowed to do
But I just might install this mod that makes Dante's coat redder in DMC5, the game looks great but sometimes it can look so incredibly desaturated and Dante's coat not being red always bothered me a lot considering Nero's is nice and blue
it's why I love Vergil's EX color so much and I cannot wait until I unlock it, look at this beauty in all its original blue glory instead of that super dark desaturated navy blue
It's up to the developers to allow it
It's almost always allowed in single player games
If you run into any problems you can restore the game to a known good state by deleting all the game folders and then verifying integrity of game cache on Steam
I've looked it up and apparently nothing bad will happen even if you use 'gameplay' mods, as in mods that affect the actual gameplay
Correct
most mods are for skin or music purposes in DMC so it should be okay... I've read that some people have even played online with skin mods and nothing weird or bad happened
since I've never done it before I'm just kinda apprehensive about it because I don't know if it's allowed or not, but I assume it should be alright since there's a bazillion mods for DMC and other RE engine capcom games like the RE games
I love mods
thanks we love ye too
My first time playing the fan-made Co-Op mod, which was recently updated to support Vergil. It's not perfect, but it's surprisingly smooth and little to no input delay or lag. Bosses were a put of a coin toss, but overall I had an absolute blast and I cant wait to play more!

...yeah I guess I should be fine

hell I might even try out Dante's DMC1 outfit mod, since it's like Dante's BEST costume ever
I suggest using sharpening filters to counter the blurriness. When doing so, I find it's better to have a slightly oversharpened image on still scenes as TAA is especially blurry in motion
if you have a recent NVIDIA GPU, using DLDSR for supersampling is also an option

So I still have one more code for NFS unbound's top edition on Steam, but it seems like EA has already discounted it so that's less appealing. However I checked my work mails and I'll be getting three codes for the deluxe version remaster of Dead Space ( https://store.steampowered.com/app/1693980/Dead_Space/) coming out in a few weeks. If anyone is interested, I can save one of those for you (should get them in the coming weeks) in exchange for something on my steam wishlist top 20 (https://store.steampowered.com/wishlist/id/Tcher/#sort=order). No doubt
Accessibility options have often been great even if you don't have any disabilities
ye, i usually use colour blind mode for lot of UIs because i prefer the colour scgeme+like usijg arachnophobia modes because the funny blobs/cats they turn into are great
and I like having subtitles on in everything ever, because I'm better at reading than hearing in every language
Same
If they gave me the option between voice acing and written stuff, I'll take voice acting 10/10 times, but it's nice to have both so if someone has a dumb hard to get accent, or the scene is mixed badly and there are loud noises, you can read
and being bilingual I often end up doing odd things with voice/subtitle language settings when they give me the choice
Subtitles became standard as audio mixing has gotten worse.
the RE2 remake I've been playing with English voices and Japanese subtitles, so part of the fun now is watching for all the little translation differences
In movies you mean Sor? Because I feel like in games it has gotten better overall compared to older consoles
I guess in games you sorta get to do your own sound mixing
Both really, games it can be a bit worse, there isn't a rewind in a lot of cases.
oh that's a good point, games never have a rewind
Voice and text makes it easier not to miss dialog.
Audio can be fine a majority of time, but there are times when a line is lower volume or music drowns it out.
the other thing with games is that any "in-game" dialogue carries a pretty unavoidable risk of being missed because unpredictable gameplay either makes its own loud nosies or forces your attention to be elsewhere
subtitles are pretty good at working around that
With gotten better in games I mean in function of the hardware getting better in a lot of ways
It was a bit of both, but like, when you have 700mb of space on a disk competing with audio and textures and other shit, there was only so much high quality clear audio files you could include in your game
When I was playing Horizon recently one of the characters got bugged in the cutscreen so they were off screen and low volume due to being away from the player, subtitles is a decent fix for stuff like they.
I would still say that on average that happens much less that you can't hear a character in a game compared to in the past.
It can still happen for sure, bugs, also the fact that they do let you adjust those values yourself and you can put yourself in a situation in which you can't hear a character over the music for example.
In a movie you don't get to crank the music, that's up to the editor
yep, games having separate volume sliders is huge
there are way too many movies that make dialogue a fraction the volume of everything else
Nolan style, he does that on purpose.
(likewise, way too many movies that are so dark half the screen is black and I think that's meant to be dramatic but it just means I can't see anything, and I already suck at recognizing faces)
I'm glad games now don't seem to have voice lines repeated over and over by a character as much as they used to
"Where the hell did I put that" is still imprinted into my mind
"Hey, listen" will remain a meme of our whole generation
Yeah true
atleast "hey listen" was good for new players
when I actually played OoT I went through the whole "oh god, the legends were true, it is that obnoxious" process
"i predict a 95% chance this boss key will fit this boss door" was dumb as fuck and skyward sword should feel bad for those lines
It's not even a matter of needing more voice lines for most games, just don't repeat ones that have been recently played
that, and annoying NPCs are still annoying if they say the useless thing in fifty different ways
Yeah
Also I hate when an NPC keeps reminding you to do the objective when I really wanna explore
no please record more voice lines i want every game to be like dragon age franchise with hours of recorded banter

Pft yes
Be like High on Life and make me stare at a background TV for over an hour
That game also does the annoying thing of reminding you about objectives
:>
its great
I wonder what the game's entire dialogue time adds up to
i am quite genuine when i say party banter is my absolute favorite part of da games
I do love when you can decide to just sit and watch or listen to something useless to the progression of game.
Or something to do with lore too
Like the amount of books there are in skyrim
Party banter!
I used a bunch of them when playing Spider-Man, like the "more visible spider-sense indicator" and "hold buttons to complete QTEs"
(the latter is a godsend)
oh, and don't forget "toggle crouch", in games where that somehow wasn't the default
In some games it's not ideal, an example is Warframe
You use crouch jump to bullet jump so you kinda don't want it to stick
At least I don't want to
But yeah, most games toggle is what I want for crouch
I don't know what a bullet jump is, but now I'm remembering some action games where there's a slide move which turns into a crouch if you keep holding it, but unlike a stealth game there's no reason to stay crouched for more than a few seconds, so yeah that makes sense
Yeah something very similar
If you crouch you go into a slide and if you jump out of the slide you go into a spinning jump where you are aiming at
I personally don't use toggle options, I think the best way to do it is to allow the user to bind a second key that is a toggle
in Thief, I have Shift to crouch and C to toggle crouch, so I can do both as needed
another way to do it is to make it a toggle if you double-tap, or if you don't hold the key for long enough. (There is no ideal way to do it, it all depends on context)
I have heard of these kinds of advanced keybindings but never tried them myself
I guess I've just never run into a case where I disagreed with the game on those subtleties
Most games are reasonable about it
KSP is free on the epic games store !

It's a roguelite deckbuilder

also, The Evil Within 2 (GOG) is free to claim on Prime Gaming
Dishonored 2 (GOG) can still be claimed too
huh, i bought ksp and when I tried to install it it says that it isn't allowed to install it to Epic Games program files
Hey fuck you Kim
Install it elsewhere then
Or simply give it permission to edit that folder
i tried and it said the same thing
i dont know what you mean
yes
Shut it down completely then right click on it and start it as administrator

Then you should be able to install the game
Remember to shut it down after you're done and launch it without admin permissions so it doesn't fuck with your stuff more than necessary

I had to check and see if that was in the "joking" sections so many of these wiki articles have, but you're right
KSP is free on Epic
Ah, gamers
I'm pretty sure that Steam has implemented automatic exclusion of non-related reviews
So probably they won't affect the review score eventually
They mark the period of time as off topic review activity and automatically exclude the reviews from scores but allow you to include them back
It's almost like a labour of love would include fixing a very problematic product instead of abandoning it once you got your money~
I bet if this happened with No Man's Sky Gamers™️ would sing the same tune~
No Man's Sky is different because of the egregious lying
Yeah but they did make it a good game eventually and that was mostly because the main PR guy never got muzzled
I still don't trust them
Also love the fact one of those reviews blames the anime when it's completely seperate from the game itself but eh, any chance to shit on weebs

To be fair, Cyberpunk marketing had a LOT of lies in it as well
Maybe not explicit ones, it's more lie by implication of what they showcase in a trailer making you believe it'll work in a certain way in the game, but that's more due to the fact that they are better at lying than Sean Murray is
Cyberpunk was exceptionally ambitious. Perhaps unrealistically so, but they definitely didn't meet their stated goals.
Their subsequent patches helped tremendously and I think it deserves the labor of love award as a result of that. But the review bombing sure is a thing.
I don't really understand what the review bombing is meant to accomplish, regardless of whether the award was deserved. How is it the game's or the company's fault that someone gave them an award?
It is literally being review bombed for existing on the wrong day
Review bombing is basically the only thing people have to voice their displeasure besides not buying it
But yeah this case is dumb
I can buy the ambition excuse 6 months or more out from the release, after it was deception
6 months before release you know what you are delivering
Did they make trailers shortly before release that showcased features that were cut?
They had a LOT
I recall mentions of the transit system and things like wallrunning which were cut from the game, but I thought those were mentioned/showcased a year out from release?
I remember a weekly hipe stream the had like, less than a month before release
Ah I didn't watch any of the streams
I'm of the opinion that the anime did more to help than any fixes they have done over the years. Without it, they would not have gotten those votes.
agreed

which is hilarious because other than being set in the same world and even using in-game locations for the anime, the anime has nothing to do with Cyberpunk
To my knowledge other than Adam Smasher there really isn't any other prominent plot related character like V or Keanu Reeves, it's completely its own story set before the game even begins so really if anything it didn't 'fix' anything it just made people interested in the lore and world of Cyberpunk 2077
I still don't know what caused Cyberpunk to release in the state that it did, I sure don't think it's for a lack of actual trying or effort, but definitely they hyped their own game too much instead of humbly lowering people's expectations
https://youtu.be/omyoJ7onNrg
Cyberpunk sure looks pretty visually on the surface but videos like this that compare the details and the gameplay to other open world games similar to it just goes to show that sometimes all those pretty visuals aren't what's truly important

its like how Arcane tricked people into thinking League of Legends is a good game
I sure hope that nowadays the game is faring better
I know that with some mods the experience can be really good
I don't think anyone in existence could ever be tricked into thinking LoL is a good game
with how much League players are ridiculed and made fun of on the internet
Man seeing that video again, they really super tricked everyone and overhyped the game just way way way too much
I hope that someday a game like Cyberpunk 2077 promised to be will actually exist, once consoles and computers get powerful enough
Although with the current landscape of the videogame industry and how expensive games are starting to be when it comes to developing them I don't really know if we'll reach that point
And considering how long cyberpunk was in development for..
I seriously doubt Cyberpunk was in the process of development for all those years
they probably started working on it a while after it was even announced to be a thing which was in like 2012
[Check out the 2018 E3 trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 here: https://youtu.be/8X2kIfS6fb8]
Welcome to the year 2077. More info: http://www.cyberpunk.net/

the teaser trailer was something COMPLETELY different with what seems to be an entirely different protagonist (the cop) and it wasn't even any gameplay just a cgi trailer
this is also hilarious in retrospect
That trailer is really just a recruitment video rather than something meant for gamers
Quantic Dream did the same thing with the announcement of their Star Wars project. High budget CGI video, but they actually have no game at all, they're just hiring and the trailer is meant to get across the fundamental pitch of the game in just a minute or two
I could believe that pre-production took several years
Witcher 3 released in 2015 so they probably didn't start seriously working on Cyberpunk after that
even if you say they worked on Cyberpunk during 2015 that's still like what, 5 years? Which isn't that long of a development time for a AAA game
Yeah, 5 years feels too short for Cyberpunk
Although, it's worth noting that Mass Effect Andromeda had a development cycle of 5 years and they had a massive reboot at the year 3 point
Because they were trying to make a clever procedurally generated planet exploration system which would allow you to explore potentially hundreds of worlds, but it wasn't working in time. So they threw that out and had to rush the game that we ultimately got.
I don't know much about mass effect so unfortunately I cannot speak much on it, but that's not super uncommon
Trying to innovate too fast or trying to do a lot all at once without really taking into consideration the current tech and what they CAN do at the time
AAA games are usually done in 5 years at the moment, but I think Cyberpunk's active development was longer than that (but not 10 years)
there's also the issue of release dates and contracts and whether or not people are pushing for them to release the game
because you bet your ass there were a lot of people actually pissed off that the game wasn't coming out
I don't know if they really could've afforded to release it 'when it's ready' so you kinda end up rushing and crunching your team to death
And when a AAA game today is done rushed you can tell
Case in point RE3 in comparison to RE2
Came out a year later, tons of cut content, nothing like the polished experience of RE2
Andromeda was definitely rushed. It had some polished bits, but it was just not a complete Mass Effect game.
Thus why it flopped
Andromeda was rushed but it was made by the b-team and they just weren't ready to make a game of that scale as quickly as the a-team.
like Hollywood blockbusters, a lot of AAA games are the sort of thing that takes an absurd amount of money and people-hours to make and must come out soon enough and sell well enough to make that money back, or they simply can't do more projects like it
it's unfortunate but also inevitable that true innovation tends to come from smaller, more narrowly focused games with smaller dev teams and less investment that can afford to more or less go wherever the new idea takes them
and AAA games are technically way harder than movies to make
so time is very important, something they do not have
reason I love Annapurna
pretty much the daughter of a billionaire opened a company to make good games
and does not matter if they sell well or not
who will doubtless be typecast for a while as "the people who made the cat game"
but yeah I should play more of their stuff
The Pathless was great too
I heard Neon White is similarly a fantastic game
It does make me wonder though
Why.... do AAA don't just go with the indie approach?

Neon White is really fun
MUST every game be cutting edge with its visuals? MUST every game be insanely huge and big so much that it takes a stupid amount of time to create?
Why can't a AAA game do a fun, creative, stylistic simple game that is good?
because does not sell
that's a long topic people probably should write books about
at least the amounts needed
That's not true either
A lot of indie games like that sell very well
Look at a game like Hades
yes there is lots of indies that sell a fucking lot
but there is also many that does not
but I think the short answer is they used to, and still sometimes do, but mass audiences tend to buy the big flash-y same-y stuff, like any other medium
The only reason indie games sell 'badly' in comparison to AAA games is exactly because they aren't AAA titles or games made by AAA devs
a AAA can't take those risks
same reason most of us don't watch dozens of indie art films
nah there's loads of indies that don't make their money back at all
Just take a look at steam games, there is so, so, so, so many
we hear about the beloved and successful ones, which are a tiny fraction of the whole pile
and just a very small % actually gets famous
Annapurna for example just release that type of games because selling them does not matter
there's a reason every 3rd or 4th #1048910682927673396 is some indie thing that Flitter knows instantly and the rest of us go wtf
yeah, and even for someone like me who's aware enough of indies to have played ~3 of Annapurna's games and consider that name as a selling point, I've only played ~3 of their games, not the dozens they've actually made
same goes for their movies
everyone knows everything everywhere all at once etc
but do you know their other stuff?
to be fair, I would watch more indie art films if they existed outside of bucking film festivals
video games being 100% online is a godsend for diiscoverability
Valve is kinda in a similar boat
yeah, one of the reasons I was hyped for EEAAO was because I recognized the name A24
only thing they do not release much stuff
but most people probably don't, I had to keep explaining why that name meant anything to me
valve will release a weird as fuck new concept game out of nowhere that will be a masterpiece and disappear for years
I don't understand how stuff like an indie game can be so incredibly good and well made but will never, EVER reach even half of the amount of money and recognition a mediocre AAA game will
marketing
and I know why, I know the factual answer, the average gamer or person isn't interested, doesn't like it, doesn't even know it exists
but it's still baffling to me that it's a thing
millions spend on marketing
mostly subjectivity and discoverability
I know the average gamer isn't interested in a game like.. Kentucky Route Zero
