I knew it was coming but I already played this like 4 times on the PSP, I don't need to play it again
The first and only FF game I've played is FF7
Also I kind of dig the old continuity better anyways
I don't know... why they decided to go for a sort of... reboot... sequel type thing for FF7R
Idk I think it's cool
I prefer the new continuity for the same reason I am not interested in Crisis Core Remake.
I already played FF7 a bunch, having a different story for the remake gives me something to look forward to
Ye
I don't know, it's a weird choice, especially for newcomers
Ah well, if I some money finds it's way to me I'll probably get Crisis Core for my Switch. Always need more FF7 in my life
There's a balance to be struck when it comes to these things where you can add or subtract new or old things to kind of spice it up for returning players but also give newcomers relatively the same story
I imagine a newcomer playing FF7 for the first time (hah, as if) and then being confused about there being no fate ghosts thingies
I mean...that's tragic for them but I don't really care
I am not a newcomer and I want a story that I like
How much is Crisis Core
Besides, it's so old a story that I feel that most of the plot points are spoiled for it even if you never played it
It's so widely referenced in other games across the last 20 years
||I somehow avoided Aertih's death before I played it
||
Maybe you don't, but I feel if you played you'd start noticing stuff that you knew without knowing
God this convo just makes me wanna play FF7
I don't know about that, my only experience with FF7 was watching a streamer play FF7R and I wasn't familiar with any of it at all
Especially the dog
Red?
The dog was red
No his name is Red
I know absolutely nothing on ff7 games. So I really have nothing spoiled.
We'll see the way it continues if they manage to strike a good balance between the new continuity and still keep it good for the new players.
To be honest, I don't necessarily trust Square with story after FF13, unless Yoshida is at the helm, so there is a good chance they'll fuck it up, but I'd still rather try for something ambitious than play it safe
I wish they made a true FF7R for weirdos like me who want the same experience but with nicer looking graphics
They did exactly that for FF(
FF8
I didn't even know a FF8 remake existed
I don't think anyone ever did
Tbh I mostly love FF7 for the characters and interactions between the party, and with what they've revealed of FF7R part 2 so far gives me lots of hope
Maybe that's why they didn't do that
Probably because it's a mobile game and also they didn't market it well
Yeah Square do have brainrot a lot of times
I think I would have a vastly different opinion on FF7R if they also sold FF7Remastered alongside with it
That way, newcomers and old fans can get both the same experience but enhanced, or the same experience with new twists and brand new content and different mechanics and stuff
I'm watching Vinny play Crisis Core Reunion and I don't understand why he's complaining about the anime shit when Final Fantasy is all anime shit

Because let's face it, the argument of ''the original game is still there'' doesn't exactly work when 90% of people especially those who AREN'T familiar with the original game will never touch it
People aren't going to buy RE3 or RE2 after playing RE3R or RE2R, it's just not gonna happen, especially if they never sell or market a brand new remastered official version
It's a bit different because FF7R is more of a sequel, although they do spoil the original FF7 in it.
The fact that it's not a safe bet it's the saving grace of the project for me.
I like when devs do crazy things that may or may not make any sense economically speaking, it makes me feel like there is still someone who gives a shit and have an artistic vision at the company
Buried somewhere
Probably they lock him in the closet whenever they have to annouce a NFT thing
You can hear the muffled banging in the background
that's kind of what I mean though, because a lot of people were slightly disappointed that the game took a pretty significant deviation from the original FF7 in every conceivable way
and it's.. fine, I guess, my personal take on this is that any true and best remake takes the best aspects of the original and enhances it, but whatever
point is it would've been nice to have a remastered FF7 option alongside the remake, especially considering how the remake isn't exactly 1:1 with the original
Lol why do they have flip phones
I was but a smol child

surprised they didn't even mention it (the new DLC) alongside the mobile release during the game awards
because he's a brainlet and doesn't put thought into things
I was mostly unspoiled when I played FF7 in the sense that whatever I'd heard was too vague or meaningless out of context to affect my playthrough
the closest was that ||I knew Aerith died||, but I had no idea where, when, why or how so when I got to that part it still came as a shock

ah, right!
since my last was the Approval Process and Routine Inspection, I did them together so I could finish them at the same time in one attempt, it was a hell of a challenge
Originally I wanted to Style through this mode. However, I always find myself Jumping a bit too much due to the monstrous amount of demons on the screen. So I decided to just go on in and "free-style" this mode the best I can.
Devil May Cry is fucking insane man
I love it

That's the new levels right? Do you need to unlock them or are they immediately available?
That isn't the new level

Pretty fantastic video on the topic
In some aspects, I wish western videogame companies functioned in the same way as Japanese companies, where VAs are treated with the respect they deserve... relatively speaking
in the Japanese dubs it's not rare to see voice actors voice the same character for decades, in western games and media voice actors are pretty replaceable in the eyes of big companies and usually switched or replaced whenever the company wants to
And it's a shame especially for more story driven games like these where it's not just the writing that compels you but also the characters themselves, and voice actors after so much time become their character, look at Kevin Conroy as Batman
(and on the other side of things, the whole bayonetta shenanigans)
It's not a small thing, and when it's this noticeable, it's very disappointing, this change could've easily not happened, they easily could've gotten the entire cast back together, but they didn't for whatever arbitrary reason
A change such as this seems small and insignificant on paper, but it's not, it really isn't, and again, if you want a good example, look at Kevin Conroy as Batman
Batman will never be the same, nobody understood or personified Batman and Bruce Wayne as well as Kevin Conroy did, it's the same with these beloved characters, the VAs understand the character because they are the character
It's not really the same, because that's an issue started and caused by Helena Taylor herself
s'why I said on the other side of things
Right, though David Hayter as Snake comes to mind
I think it was in One Piece, there was a while where Chopper's japanese VA was replaced because of... a medical issue? Maternity leave? Jarring as hell, after like 100+ episodes with the same one
Although this is a special case, because Hideo Kojima has a bit of a hard on for Hollywood and Hollywood stars, so he never really.. ''respected'' David Hayter, I guess you could say, because he didn't even bother asking him to come back for MGS3 onwards, David had to recast every time until he got replaced by MGSV
That's Ikue Otani, also known as the worldwide VA of Pikachu
She had a break around 2006, allegedly she gave birth to her daughter
Officially it was announced as a health issue
Ahh
There has been a rumour that Ikue Otani has passed away at the age of 44.
I can confirm that she is alive and healthy. This is a link to an article from Kotaku: http://kotaku.com/5585483/did-pikachus-voice-actress-really-die

HAHAHHAA
so i'm playing as the witch character
and i just learned that if two of her cats collide they create a giant AoE fight
no wonder her passive level ups increase projectile speed, the faster the cats go the more likely they are to collide.
god vampire survivors is so good
That run got all the way to 30 mins before I got nuked by damage
I had rezzes but I decided to cash it in since I was happy with that run getting to level 100 + killing the GIANT ENEMY CRAB
Do you already have the achievements for surviving to minute 31? I think there's some
Or unlocks, I should say
Ah, location based

yeah that's the new stage at the bottom
I could have but I can just do it another time under Hurry mode (I was playing with regular clock speed)

started Axiom Verge
Nice!
Axiom Verge can be very slow if you don't know what you're doing.
But not if you just wanna see the story
It's the secrets that are obscure at first, so one thing you can do is progress in story until you have all the mobility options before you look for secrets
After you're done, we could do randomizer races! Synchronized or asynchronous.
The randomizer has a tracker that tells you where every item is, and which ones you can technically reach with or without speedrunning tricks
Axiom Verge is awesome, I foolishly stopped right before the end and have forgotten all the gameplay things tho so I might have to just replay completely

Let's gooooooo
I'd really like to play FFIV this way
Now I can finally see why so many people say FFVI is so good
Also interesting
Nothing super surprising tho
Japanese fans are dumb. XII is the best one.
They're right about VIII tho. Good job, Japan.
The only one I've played is VII so I'm happy
Gotta play Crisis Core still
I've consumed most VII content including that terrible movie
Old 7 or New 7.
Old
I've also only ever played VII, but it was really good. I think it is definitely a game everyone should play at least once if they can.
VII is so good
Time for New 7 then.
The music
If I had a machine that could run Remake I would be all over it
Sephiroth being in Smash Ultimate is the thing that made me finally decide to play FF7.
I haven't really touched it at all since I beat it and maxed out the stats of all the characters, but I liked breeding chocobos.
I never got into chocobo breeding
Which means I never got Knights of the Round because I'm a fake fan
I don't remember what you have to do to get that.
You have to breed a golden chocobo and then ride it to an island that's in the top right corner of the map
It's a materia
I think I remember that now. The golden chocobos can cross all kinds of terrain, right?
Yes!
And Knights of the Round can be combined with the cast four times materia to give you a bathroom break in the middle of a boss fight
Lmao
Meteor is such a cool attack of Sephiroth's the first time but then the other times it's like uggggh
5 minute attack
Yeah
Modern games like FF 10 fix that by having the first time be a cool cutscene and later it plays a short version
Oh that's cool
I think Sephiroth in Smash should've had a costume that looks like Jenova with blue skin and stuff.
That would have been neat
A part of me misses Smash reveals but the other part doesn't miss all the salt lol
I think it'd be fun if Springtrap or some other FNAF character was in Smash with the first game's office as a stage.
It would probably never happen, but it'd be fun if it did.
FFXIV being #1 is the correct answer.
I don't think a full fledged character would work out but maybe a Mii fighter costume like Sans
That would probably work better, yeah.
13 is that far down
i am not surprised lmao
but 7 does not deserve to be that high up
I think Metroid Dread is another must-play game just because of the story and the boss fights and designs. I'm normally not a fan of Metroidvanias and I really liked Dread.
Yessss
I tried playing Fusion since I'm pretty sure Dread's a sequel to it, but I just couldn't get into it.
Dread is a legit masterpiece
I can normally see plot twists coming from a mile away, but Metroid Dread's twist was super unexpected and really cool.
Ya
I like FF2 a lot
I wonder if FF7 could be played on a New 3DS. I'm sure there's a homebrew PlayStation emulator for the 3DS, but I can't imagine it running very well.
As an obsessive Metroid fan: Dread is indeed a legit masterpiece of a Metroid game.
There's not much I would've changed.
Not a particularly well-known fact: The Chozo writing and speech in the game is actually a functional language.
Fucking badass
I fucking love it when there's full fledged fictional languages that function
Some parts of the Metroid fandom worked to reverse-engineer it and have since put together a guide on how to speak and read Chozo.
Previous games had only a partially functional Chozo writing system
But it was more just nonsensical/there for aesthetic purposes. Dread actually made it functional.
I really liked that about Dread's Chozo language. That was really cool.
The writing maps to the Roman alphabet and has clear syntax rules. The speech is heavily influenced by Spanish.
Yeah, I was THRILLED to see Samus speak fluent Chozo in the game
THAT WAS SO COOL
She would obviously be fluent in Chozo
It was great to finally hear it
All the cutscenes with spoken Chozo can be understood if you know the language.
I expect future Metroid music tribute albums to have at least one track that uses this
And I'm hyped to see that someday
This is something different and more like Breath of the Wild having a readable Hylian alphabet, but I'm pretty sure PokƩmon Scarlet and Violet also have a written alphabet. I haven't been able to figure out most of the letters, though.
Most Zelda games have a written alphabet iirc
Do they? I don't think I've played enough Zelda to notice an actual Hylian alphabet until Breath of the Wild.
Wind Waker used a functional writing system
The hylian speech by the gods you can't understand is functional writing
I've never played Wind Waker, so that would explain why I never knew about that.
Anyways yeah I love fictional languages that are actually speakable
Iirc the demonic language in Doom is understandable
Goddamn my copy of Hyrule Historia is falling apart
I've read it too many times
I have figured out what A, E and R look like in PokƩmon Scarlet and Violet's alphabet since Area 0 is clearly written on the Scarlet and Violet Books and on a plaque in Area Zero, but I haven't figured out anything beyond that.
Oh another PokƩmon example is the Unown!
I just recently discovered that uhhhh
That temple in Brilliant Diamond
And there's a sign where if you interact with it it's in Unown
I should go back and try translating it
Hey which games had you translate Braille
Wasn't that something you had to do to get a Regi
The Hoenn games do that.
Ooh
Gold/Silver/Crystal
Yeah, it was for the Regis.
Wait
Also gen 3, yeah
...I could be remembering it wrong
Can you even catch the Regis in BDSP?
I was gonna say I don't remember the Regis in Johto
Yes with the creepy music!!!
Like hey actually fuck this

An interesting thing about the Unown radio theme is that there's a GB Sounds version of it in HGSS that goes completely unused in the actual games.
Oh Unown communicate through radio signal and that's why the PokƩGear picks it up?
Yep
I did not know that
Yeah. I always thought that was a cool detail.
What funky little creatures
I love them
Aren't they connected to Arceus in some way
Yeah.
How?
Pokemon loves making obscure lore just to not let us know the details
Arceus used the Unown to create the universe, and it makes a completely new universe with their power to give you a member of the creation trio in the Sinjoh Ruins in HGSS.
I see
It's possible that the Unown are Arceus's 1,000 arms the PokƩdex makes a reference to, but the Arceus you see in the games is confirmed to just be an avatar of sorts that it uses to interact with people. I like the idea that each Arceus is an arm more.

Where's that one person who explains why Fortnite is actually good despite the news we get about it?
heh, and I bought it on Steam a few months ago
Either way, they got money!
I look forward to our battle one day
Still around, apparently. Their last message was from Dec. 14th.
the recent Fortnite tech update made me legitimately interested in the game
I still won't play it for various reasons, but it's fair to say they've achieved an "Unreal moment" so to speak
Fortnite is a good demo of the features of Unreal Engine, kind of like what Half Life was to source engine when it existed.
pretty much
back to Axiom Verge
finally beat the first boss; stuff came up yesterday so I stopped at the save point just before it
I have some base level of respect on whatever game can get a bunch of kids into gaming, just by deafult, because I lived in the era in which being interested in computer and gaming stuff was uncool
Minecraft, Five Nights at Freddy, etc...
So it has that going for it
I tried Axiom Verge when I finished Hollow Knight, because it made me think "maybe I really like metroidvania games" and I bunced off it
Turns out, I mostly like Hollow Knight
any idea what it is about HK?
The movement not feeling too Metroid or Castelvania is a big thing
Also it probably hits a lot of other things, the aeshetic, the music, none of them that singularly would sell me on a game but all that combine to give me a good time.
Minecraft and FNAF my beloveds
And I really like exploration, the combat is not very hard for most of the game either so since I'm not very good with 2d combat, it gave me time to get used to it.
interesting, Hollow Knight's combat does start out simple but it felt on the hard end to me; even the False Knight gave me trouble when I was brand new at it
could you say more about the movement? that's the only point that's not clicking for me; I get that it's not identical but HK movement feels more metroidvania to me than anything else, unlike e.g. Ori
It's not super easy but also, I would say in the genre is on the easier side.
Compared to Blasphemous for example
Hard to explain, it feels good to jump around and it felt responsive, never got to that with most metroidvania I tried, maybe it was the animation style that made it click for me
fair, though for me Blasphemous was much harder at the start, until I made the lategame harder by seeking out optional bosses; getting all the upgrades helps a ton in that game (whereas in e.g. actual Metroids I usually quickly get to a point where I'm collecting the upgrades just for its own sake)
hm, which metroidvanias do you have in mind?
I can see HK feeling "smoother" in some hard-to-pin-down than the pre-Dread 2D Metroids because those controls are so digital in their responsiveness, especially with the only-eight-directions shooting
Axiom Verge is an example, I tried to go back to castelvania a couple of times but old games are old and couldn't get into it.
After even Blasphemous feels much clunkier, but I persevered because fuck the artstyle was fucking awesome
I could see that, Blasphemous also feel like "intentional clunk" the way we might describe Souls or survival horrors; it mostly comes out of a desire to make committing to attacks a real commitment
To be clear, it's not that the others are just worse, they just refuse to click in my brain, and that makes them less fun
And it's only in 2d combat for some reason
maybe I am thinking of the right thing then since Axiom Verge is also "very digital in its responsiveness"; it's so Metroid I hesitate to call it a Metroidvania because there's no "vania"
have you played Ori?
Yeah, loved Ori
that might be exactly it then
But I like HK more, mostly because Ori is more of a spectacle than a game with depth, especially the 1st one
of course
Still, mad respect to both of those games
I was mostly trying to pin down the movement comment but I think I've got it now
dang, I think I accidentally found a secret I can't access yet because I don't have morph ball
But yeah, I recognise that the clunkyness is on purpose in many of those games, similarly as with the souls, and for some reason that work for me in 3d but I hate it in 2d
Maybe it's because the platforming elements are usually much more there in 2d
In Souls when they make you platform they fucked up.
It just feels bad
could be
Blasphemous' platforming mostly worked for me, but it was too easy to fail to grab a ladder or ledge, in a frustrating rather than legitimately challenging way
the DLC also had a series of optional timed platforming challenges, which is one of the few pieces of content I did not complete because that pushed the platforming mechanics past the point where they weren't fun any more
I spent like, a dozen hours completing the Path of Pain in Hollow Knight, which is like, 4 rooms total, and I (sorta) had fun doing it, but the idea of doing something similar in Blasphemous horrifies me
oh yeah, even in HK not a chance lol
like so many things, if it had more checkpoints it'd actually be fun, but that's just too much instant death
the mandatory white palace stuff was about my limit
Path of Pain has decent checkpoints
And with the right charms you are basically immortal, so it wasn't that terrible
The only time I had to repeat a big chunk was because I just had to go and turn off the game
wait, how do charms help with environmental insta-kills and checkpoint spacing?
Well you need to pass it at least once
even in regular white palace I was repeating tons of stuff
But once you are past the hurdle, and reached the checkpoint, the right charms allows you to not die completely and lose progress
IIRC the trio was the one that slwoly regenerates the last HP you lost, the one that gives you more soul when you take damage, and the one that makes you heal cure double
I think I've forgotten how saves/checkpoints work in HK
If you die to a saw or to a pit in HK it just puts you back on a checkpoint with one less HP
And with a checkpoint, I mean a ledge or something of the sort
oh right, it wasn't insta-kill so much as insta-reset to a pseudo-checkpoint with less health, like bottomless pits?
Yeah it's not Blasphemous level that if you fall, you are fucking dead
ok I see what you mean now
if I'd played around with charm min-maxing enough to notice that combo maybe I'd've given PoP a shot
It's fairly harder than the White Palace bit
I know lol
Especially the last and first parts
The bit in the middle is not that bad honestly
The last bit is actually hell
They get you with the sunk cost fallacy
You did all the rest, wanna give up now?
I watched someone else do it on YT so I was very sure I didn't want to try it myself
But yeah, if it was, one hit and back at the bench, I would have never even tried
lol, finally found something that feels more -vania than Metroid: an implausibly large pile of pixelated skeletons/corpses
2nd boss down
I have defeated Demon's Souls.
Oh good
this disruptor thing is pretty interesting
Which boss was it?
The disruptor is one of the ways Axiom Verge makes itself a unique game
I think the achivement said "Telal"? the bulldozer whose weak point is yellow gunk on the back, Kraid-esque fight
Telal, yeah
You can take contact damage and run behind him and he won't be able to turn around
Almost completely trivializes him
It's very useful in randomizer hard mode when you may have to fight him with no equipment
and this happened again
Mark it down on a screenshot or something just in case
it is unfortunate that the AV map doesn't do the circle/dot thing Metroid usually does for items
at the moment I don't feel like it's worth the hassle of doing myself
The item tracker does but it's separate software
A hotkey the game doesn't tell you the may be useful is one of the back triggers on the controller allowing you to aim diagonally without moving
the game did tell me, but it's LB, not LT
Oh good
DS2's platforming is pretty good, since they changed how jumping worked and you could affect your fall damage with stats, but in the other titles it is very unfun.
I didn't say very good either. Maybe decent would be a good word for it.
Like, when in DS2 I get to a bit in which I have to jump I let out a slighier less pained groan
https://axiom-verge-tracker-documentation.readthedocs.io/en/latest/
Spoilers. The tracker is automatic and marks every item you have access to even if you don't know it exists. There is a separate tracker that will tell you which items are which exactly
I liked that you were rewarded for exploring with platforming in DS2. The mandatory parts I hated because I am afraid of heights.
Did you play Spiderman by any chance?
I do get a bit of a chill in that one during dives, but if DS2 platforming gets you a bit, I'm pretty sure Spiderman might murder you
idk why but I thought you asked "Are you Spiderman by any chance"
Falling is not a fun experience and such.
DS2 has a very serious bug where dependent on your computer hardware and current situation your jumps may end short and kill you
There's a mod to fix it, and I think one of the versions of the game might as well
made it to "Zi"
is the next area going to have a one-letter name? they can't keep shortening them forever
They're all dumb names
reminds me how fall damage is weird in early GTA games, if you jump across a gap, you will almost always suffer fall damage even if you haven't fallen of any height
and jumping from a 30-story building may only damage your armor by 35 points or so, losing no health points in the process š
(in III and Vice City)
By the way, Ixrec
There's a secret that I think you might not notice until near the end of the game
I'd be surprised if I found half the secrets in any game without looking them up
Yes but this one is special
It's a hot and cold game
You'll know you're near it when very subtle scanlines show on your screen
They're easier to spot when you look at your health bar
And its actual location is randomized from a set of possible ones, with more than one different secret of that type. Every game has a unique set of them
That's all you need to know
The effect is very subtle so it took me until I looked it up to figure it out
took two tries but now Uruku's down
weird how much health he drops mid-fight in unreachable places
They're not unreachable
You just eat the damage
There's a little sweet spot where you can shoot Uruku but he cannot harm you
well, I was mostly referring to the health he drops onto himself
pretty sure it would not be a good idea to try and grab that
Depends on what gear you have
can it vary much this early? so far I've always found only one direction I can make progress in
It can vary a lot based on what skips you know and whether you use the randomizer
oh, well I'm still talking about a normal first playthrough
If I recall correctly, you pick up the coat that lets you go through walls
yep, I got the coat and made it back to the save point and that's where I stopped
You can upgrade that later and it becomes so much more useful
Including getting you all sorts of items before you might be able to
The game has a decent amount of sequence breaks
There's one that's intentional and is particularly funny
The game has so many movement options that it's actually difficult by the end to get everyone to follow the intended path

we'll see, usually I'm the type that never notices any sequence breaks (intended or otherwise) and instead finds a way to get stuck on even the intended path
Well getting unstuck in this game is a big problem too
That's why they patched it so that exiting and reloading takes you back to your last saving spot
And in randomizer mode you can return to the very start of the game instead
oh
I was wondering why it offers to save when qutting but loading took me back to the save room save instead of my actual last save
Yeah. If it saved your location you might have sequence broke into a location you can't bust out of just yet
Especially if you somehow get out of bounds
does the quit save still save non-location aspects of progress?
Yeah
All items and bosses are saved. Health and enemies reset
By the way, there's an achievement for transforming every enemy type once with the address disruptor so don't forget to do that
I'm already trying it on every enemy I run across because of the variety of beneficial effects
Yeah! It's really fun
Sponges are my favorite. You heal back to full
The floating squid things that turn into platforms can be used to push you into the wall and get out of bounds but it's tricky

Batman won't kill you but he might do worse
Wtf happened
stretching yourself too thin
why is it trending?
Game is called Spark The Electric Jester 3 and it's available on Steam. No I'm not throwing shade at Sonic Frontiers or any other Sonic game for that matter, I think Sonic Frontiers is a good game, but for completely different reasons than Spark The Electric Jester 3 (heck, I am one of the few that actually likes the cyberspace levels in Frontie...
Damn
This actually looks incredible
Sonic Team in shambles rn
Funny enough, I think that they copied SA2 gameplay for this tech demo. The style, movement, animation, and controls look eerily similar.
It's just sped up
#AxiomVerge: I'm loving the remote drone
I mean.... after Doom released every FPS was pretty much ''X but Doom'' down to the artstyle
But yes it's Star Wars Doom
and in Dark Forces 2 you get loitesaebah
take a gander at these cutting edge 1997 graphics
you could cut yourself with those polygons
yeah, so much so that every fps was called doom clones
me
It's just a fun game
they were referring to someone else
now that we have threads I haven't seen them ever since
lol
also with the whole FTC thing, thats on the parents for putting their credit card onto their kid's account to begin with
not epic
plus
the game isnt even directed towards kids
its for older teens/adults
Fortnite is rated Teen and is directed at an older teen and college-aged audience. We recently rolled out Cabined Accounts, a new type of Epic account that provides a tailored experience that is safe and inclusive for younger players. Players under 13, or their countryās age of digital consent, whichever is higher, will be able to play Fortnite while they wait for parental consent, but in a tailored environment where certain features, such as chat and purchasing, are disabled.```
straight from epic themselves
Yeah
The way my mum does it with my sister, is that she has to ask to buy anything because she doesn't link payment info. I don't even link payment info.
i do keep my payment info saved when i buy my 11 year old brother skins on fort and stuff, but only because he's smart enough to not spend my money without me knowing lol
I don't even trust companies with payment info. I would rather log into paypal and get a code each time.
Just today I had someone trying to login to my now dead snapchat account
like the whole ftc fort shit is dumb to begin with
idk if its a generational thing or what, but like
growing up even i knew not to spend my mom's money off her card cause if i did i would have got my ass whooped lol
all these kids spending excessive amounts of their parents money on the game is dumb as hell and isnt even epic's fault by any means
it literally just comes down to them not raising their kids right and directly putting their card onto the kid's account and letting them play a game thats not even directed towards them
And it's all over cosmetic microtransactions
I remember when people were fine with cosmetic microtransactions
yeah lol
also the reason i havent been talking much in this server is because im in like 100+ discords lol
plus i had covid for like a week and half to almost 2 weeks now so ive mainly just been in bed
Heh. Being sick makes me talk online more
ive pretty much just mainly been watching youtube
did play some fort earlier
happened to get a win with the deku smash mythic weapon as well which was cool
i usually just use the auto shotgun, assault rifle, shockwave hammer, and pistol/smg
It is Epic's fault if they deliberately steer people towards purchasing things without making it clear something is a purchase, which they did do, and made it deliberately difficult to reverse charges, which they also did do. Epic Games has faced lawsuits before over hiring psychologists to make their games more predatory and addicting. Parents absolutely should be more responsible with their children, but when a game has single button purchases with no confirmation or parental approval required and deliberately cultivates and preys upon irresponsible spending habits, that game's designers are not blameless.
????????
Idk. It was made pretty clear to me that I was spending real money when I bought Vbucks.
You have to buy Vbucks to buy anything in the game, unless you get the subscription
I got taken to an Epic games store page even. but again, I don't have my payment info linked.
You really ought to read the settlement. They violated childrens' privacy laws and were caught manipulating their players into unintentionally spending money. They settled on both charges and are, effectively under duress, implementing changes to reverse their wrongdoing. One such change is that they no longer automatically save payment information without asking.
and again
kids spending excessive amounts of their parent's money on the game isnt epic's fault at all
and kids literally arent the target audience for the game
that is 100% on the parents
I disagree. They very much are the target audience with regard to spending money and Epic Games was caught trying to pump them for every penny they could. Making it difficult to reverse charges shows their hand, they knew full well what they were doing and tried to make it hard to get money back.
I think this is mainly a thing because of how popular fortnite is. These kinds of things have existed in games for many many years before. Not saying they are a good thing entirely, but that they have existed for a long time. Since the days of 2010 facebook games really.
That other people are doing it does not excuse them of it.
they arent the target audience though
.
Fortnite is rated Teen and is directed at an older teen and college-aged audience
not kids
Teenagers are still kids.
not really
Yes really. Legally, too.
Why wouldn't the target audience be someone like me, someone with disposable income, for the shop. I actually make money. In some ways I feel it is, with them adding things like rick and morty and doom. Doom being rated 18+ and Rick and Morty rated 15+ here.
Because you are harder to manipulate.
From 16 onwards you can get a job too
the target audience is literally teens/adults with disposable income
Why do they need to manipulate me
To addict you to the game and take your money regularly and in perpetuity.
the game isnt even addicting though lmfao
thats just parents not raising their kids right
I don't get what they are manipulating into me. It's just skins and emotes.
They literally got caught hiring psychologists to make it so.
You and I are clearly not going to see eye to eye. Suffice to say that I disagree with you and the settlement validates my existing concerns with Epic Games and their predatory practices.
throwback to when people liked epic lol
now its just constant hate towards epic despite being the same company they were years and years ago
I have distrusted them from the beginning, so I am not a fair weather fan.
I guess some things, like how they advertise battlepass to you or show a cutscene with newly added characters is, sorta getting you to want to pay. But like, of course they are going to do that. They're going to advertise and try to get you to pay. I don't think it is predatory practices. Companies advertise on TV to try and get you to pay for something that you may not even need.
Predatory advertising on TV is a thing too. McDonald's is probably the most visible case of a company having predatory ads directed at children, then being punished for it by regulators. The sizeable fines were why they changed their branding and colors to not directly advertise or appeal to kids anymore.
Probably.
And I just see the product for what it is instead
I guess comes with being older too
Adults are better at resisting that kind of manipulation, yeah. Kids aren't, though, which is why they are both a high value target for such things and also a group that regulators get very upset if they are targeted.
Hence the fines against McDonald's and now the massive lawsuit against Epic Games.
It sorta changes what I think of it now that I know mcDonalds has had it happen too
It just felt like they were targeting fortnite only before
No, they are just the most recent target. Regulators move very slowly and big companies have literally millions of dollars to throw at lawyers. It takes a ton of effort to pin them down with lawsuits and fines.
But if something gets overt enough, charges can stick, eventually.
I see
For example, Epic Games recently had a class action lawsuit approved against them about making Fortnite too addicting. Regardless of whether it is true or not, the courts ruled that there are grounds to proceed with the case. The initial case was filed in 2019 and it only just was approved this month. It takes a long time for things to move through the court systems. It isn't just Epic, though. Blizzard, Apple, Sony, and others are facing similar lawsuits. Really, research about and lawsuits regarding predatory practices in video games are new, only being started in the past few years. I suspect a lot more cases are going to reach trial or be settled in the upcoming couple years.
Hecc
it's an independent engine, written from scratch as Dark Forces' source code was never released
the LOD models you see in the distance are even worse, they give Minecraft a run for their money š
After you have the remote drone upgrade that lets you shoot it far, you can shoot the drone up, swap places with it then shoot it up again
The timing for that is pretty tough but you can use it to cross impossible gaps and get items early
With TAS timings you can fly pretty much anywhere with it but in practice you can maybe extend your jump to three or four times as far as you can normally go at best
man i wish that game available on PC
You can buy PS Plus super duper deluxe
Because PS Now is a part of PS Plus super deluxe

so i can play it on my PC even thou i dont have Console?

Our brand new game mode Hide n Seek comes is out now on all platforms! Crewmates have to outrun and outlive the Impostor as they use their wits to complete tasks to make the timer run out faster. This is the original song "Seek" from the new mode.

OH YEAH!
You can pet your pets now in Among Us! :D

i did get yeeted!
I did all of L4D1 on expert and enjoyed it. L4D2 I thought was not really designed as much around the campaign as around giving the infected a better shot in versus mode. So large portions of L4D2 were basically "how do we invalidate careful, deliberate team movement and positioning?" and trying to turn it into requiring in-motion FPS skills

the original ror was a fine balance
Yes but it has terrible multiplayer quality of life
Also I loved it enough to do all the content, so more content sounds good

I've already expressed my love here for the old Spidey game, but I'm only now learning about the cereal box demo disc made to promote the 2002 movie, with a unique costume based on it
https://youtu.be/L8YOS14GRDA
As promotion to the upcoming movie and its tie-in game, and as part of a campaign with the the DFA, Kellogg's offered a demo CD of the Spider-Man game from 2000 (the PC port is from 2001) - in exchange to proof-of-purchases of some products.
This time I played on Easy, as some lines are missing if you play on Hard. This allowed me to toy around...

From the thumbnail, I guess it's mugen?
it's not just mugen
it's CHEAPIE MUGEN
THE MOST ULTIMATE KIND
... is what i would say if they weren't just programming skill contests.
cheapies have no actual fighting mechanics of any kind to them, fights between them are just determined by who has a higher priority win condition.
Yes
Tell me what Cheapie means.
cheapies are basically super powerful custom mugen fighters who are so unbelievably powerful (no they really arent) that they dont have hitboxes, have screen-covering attacks that can insta-kill, are generally COVERED in particle effects and seizure inducing attack animations, and a lot of them even have conditions that trigger an instant win

I could probably find the original. It is a touhou and Japanese Ronald McDonald mashup.
Ah, here it is. https://youtu.be/Q16KpquGsIc
Another wacky Ronald McDonald clip from nicovideo. No words can describe this.
This is based off of a song called "U.N. Owen was her" Flandre Scarlet's theme from a game called Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil - AKA Touhou 6. It is a bullet hell series where you play as a heroine and try to get trough all 6 stages and then if you choose, to ...

there was a mugen character that was just Dio's sprites from Heritage to the Future edited to look like Ronald and he's edgy as hell but he was super popular because of how funny he was when he came out.

Did you downlod it
The one Isaac mod everyone should download is https://github.com/Zamiell/racing-plus/blob/main/docs/changes.md
Removes irritations and makes the game a lot more consistent and easy to race
For example, no longer does the hush magically block all damage above the number it requires
Did you know all the enemies on the ascent have boss armor? https://breezewiki.com/bindingofisaacrebirth/wiki/Pooter#Tainted_Pooter
That's why it often seems like no matter how strong you are they take too long
Of course
I didn't because I still need to unlock the Repentence content
Well they do and it sucks
The armor system implemented in the game breaks down if you shoot too fast but not if your tears are strong and slow
Honestly I can't even reach Hush
The game is hard. Restarting until you start with a good item is a good idea
Then again I do exclusively play Hard Mode both to practice and eventually unlock shite because MAN WHO DECIDED TO LOCK ALL THE LOST'S COOL SHIT BEHIND THAT
You could turn off repentance until you have everything done with hard mode
Repentance makes hard mode a lot harder
I thought you were refering to this mod
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2788006730

Just car
One shots everything, no items, no breaks, don't hit a wall... go
But I like the Repentance content!
Yeah, that's why once you do the pre-repentance content you take the training wheels off and do the rest
The way you're doing it you're having a harder time than people who played the game on hard mode before repentance
Which can be frustrating
the scene, art, and music just made it to perfection
What the fuck is a lagrange network supposed to be. Lagrange points are points

Pills are pickups that can provide useful or inhibiting effects. They take up the same slot as cards and runes.
At the start of each run, an effect is randomly assigned to each color of pill. The pill effect for each color will remain constant throughout the run. (However, it is possible for PHD, Virgo, False PHD, or Lucky Foot to reassign s...

Link Breezewiki!
Breezewiki?
Oh cool
Huh, first I've heard of it
It's relatively new and really due
You're relatively new
Fluttershy: I'm a year older than you...
damn that is much cleaner
I didn't even know there was a dark mode toggle on any of these wikis but now it's unmissable
Doesn't BreezeWiki have a browser extension too? I think I remember hearing about that before.
Maybe
the instructions on the page Flitter just linked to and I just spent a few minutes following provide a small config file for a more generic redirection extension
and it is auto-redirecting as intended now
This is amazing.
You're amazing
even in the short time since I installed the redirection it's already kicked in for me again
Fan-fucking-tastic. Thank you!

I do feel like that if Pinkie was in a MMO, she'd voluntarily want to be a weird as fuck creature, so it fits.
There's also a Pandaren npc that sells sweets and cupcakes...
b for bshark
excuse me
You will need it
I'm currently enjoying the "voranj" weapon I found a few minutes ago
There's a list of passcodes that do things. Some allow you access to areas. Some alter the game. You can find the ones you need by reading the story files the game gives you
Axiom Verge
Does it have Mario
one of those metroidvanias I never got around to
Is Voranj the green ball of lightning weapon?
more like fractal tree but it is green lightning
Oh that one's neat
oh Kilver might be what you're thinking of, the "lightning shotgun" that was the game's third weapon
Correct
Kilver is the second highest DPS weapon in the game if you know how to use it
ok, I had picked up that it does more damage per shot, so I do try to use it in the rare cases it makes sense to get that close (usually because there's a wall between me and the enemy)
Just don't get hit
I've found a grand total of 2 "notes" so far, no explicit passcodes in them (if it's hidden somehow I'm not playing a decoding game
)
It's not hidden, but the notes might be
oh and I found the secret area in the top right of Kur
after dying half a dozen rooms in I decided to listen to the game and save it for later

Anyway, here's a list of for-fun passwords so you won't need to look up the spoiler passwords:
SEETHE-MATRIX
CALLIN-TRACEY
SECRET-JACKET
TRACK0-000000 (to 18)```
There are more passwords but some are cheats and some disable achievements
Regarding the regular passwords you'll need in the game: Some can be revealed by doing a special activity in certain rooms and it might be obtuse, but you'll be able to get all the ones you need to finish the game without much difficulty

You'll find a way to auto translate those
well at least their language has spaces, that's a start
yes I figured that was coming
It's a normal substitution cipher if you wanna give it a try anyway
(the first note I found even said there was a translator somewhere)
If I recall correctly, the translation works if you know the code even before you find the appropriate note
oh that's cool, there's more than one non-English script involved
There's exactly two
though this one feels like it could just be English with the disruptor fired at it
Each with a decoder
JUSTIN-BAILEY
Heh I understand that reference
Wiki says about that one This is a nod to the original NES Metroid game. Entering JUSTIN-BAILEY in Metroid's password system would start the game with a number of items, and Samus wearing a pink leotard.
Yeah
This one gives you a yellow speedo
there are a lot of places I can only get to via drone
I can't quite tell if I'm progressing as intended or I missed the route half an hour ago and am just doing an early cleanup pass now
You will have to come find both top right areas in Kur
What drone improvements do you have so far?
I don't think there've been any drone upgrades so far
That means you're much too early for that
for which thing?
The very top right of Kur has a pyramid thing which you need specific drone upgrades to access
doesn't ring a bell
You can see it much earlier but there's no way to get in
I think the last upgrades I got were disruptor 2, the drone itself, grapple, then voranj
The grapple is so unintuitive
other than miscellaneous nodes and notes I've been finding
Took me like five playthroughs to figure out
anyway, my current status is that Indi and Edin I can only peek my head into from the known entrances, Kur I ran out of rooms to double-check, so I've been backtracking left through Zi and Absu
You definitely want to check out the area in Kur with a lot of hard enemies
I believe I've re-checked just about everything on the map except for the starting area of Eribu
You know the one, right?
uh, the big gas-spewing ones only the drones can destroy?
that are all over the 2-3 big "aboveground" rooms near the top?
No that one's really easy
are you talking about the secret area?
The one I'm talking about has a really high enemy density, more than anywhere else in the game, and a lot of them are big and small fuzzy white enemies
It's not a secret area
that could be a lot of places in Kur and the Kur secret area lol
Well you probably haven't seen it because most people will know that one
anyway, now to sweep Eribu
if I find no real progress then I'll ask for a proper hint or just wiki it
This guide has a rough list of which areas you need to revisit in order:
https://www.neoseeker.com/axiom-verge/walkthrough
lol, I found another way into Endi that only my drone can get to
I bet half of these "drone-only" parts are intended for after I get an even higher jump
There's a higher jump and also a way to swap places with your drone
Indi is useful because it's a fast travel zone
I bet it will be someday
But there's another secret in Indi: The slow worm enemies
If you can address disrupt one of them before they commit suicide, you'll get a permanent health upgrade
maybe save this for after I'm actually there
Limit one per customer
wtf is "Ukkin-Na"
