if anyone else is interested in trying the modern/reboot Hitman trilogy

I'd recommend what Steam calls "HITMAN 3 Standard Edition" as the thing to buy, since I believe includes the core campaigns of 1, 2 and 3, which at its current discount is a steal (and even normally it's the cost of one-ish AAA game)

and that way you don't have to think about any of this business model weirdness until you've played three whole games and are looking at, you know, actual DLC for them

The slowdows are definitely the biggest concern tho, because they more directly impact everyone experience of the game

The problems for Scarlet/Violet run much deeper than the Switch being ageing hardware and emulation can only smooth out some of the rough edges, there are plenty of games that look and run far better for the system and are open world to boot (all of the Xenoblade games on the system, BotW, hell even the port of Witcher 3 is decent) and it’s more a sign of the issues Game Freak has as a small, understaffed and underfunded studio with lacking talent to make games that are suitable for a home console environment.

What frustrates me is Pokemon literally makes money hand over fist and yet they use a studio more suitable for small indie projects to make the large mainline game instalments for such a series.

Later, the nation designer feature for EU4 was released, and it had religions and traits you could import from CK2 and otherwise cannot acquire

The immortal trait specifically costs 800 points, making your ruler immortal, but 800 is the cap for nations and it costs at least one point to have a province, so you have to take some penalties if you want to pick it up

The immortal trait isn't really worth it because rulers are a lot less important

Accurate and straightforward, but it's exhaustive.

Modern games do a lot of clever tricks to find shortcuts to make raytracing work in realtime

But it's still quite expensive

I really liked what they did with FC3, 4, 5, and 6, but this just looks...bland. It doesn't feel like Far Cry, it just looks like a generic sci-fi story.

Aside from Far Cry 1 (which had supernatural elements), the whole point of the Far Cry games is supposed to be epic struggles against badass, human antagonists that could potentially be real people under any other circumstance. That's what made Far Cry 3, 4, 5, and arguably 6 so undeniably AWESOME for everyone.

This just feels too much like a step in the wrong direction, much like how Far Cry New Dawn was.

.......I have never heard of this one, and after seeing the trailer for it, yes, it has that same sci-fi theme, but unlike Lost Between Worlds, Blood Dragon feels more like an homage to 80s action films and is presented as such with all the corniness it can muster, while still retaining that sinister Far Cry feel (just toned down a bit). As such, I can appreciate it for what it is. Hell, it feels like a video game within a video game, or a movie within a video game. It knows it's so ludicrous but it plays it to the maximum, and so it works.

Lost Between Worlds, on the other hand, just feels like "yet another dimension-hopping game", which has been done to death these past few years. Nothing feels grounded, it's all just "alien worlds" with crystals and weird technology and all the dark sci-fi tropes that come with them. It feels lifeless and so out of place, especially since it's presented as something that's happening at the "present" time of the game's timeline.

That said, i get it. DC heroes tend to be your Olympian demi-gods, beings who want to emulate humanity, but aren't human (or have been exposed to magical powers).

I think what Marvel has going for it is the relatability of it's heroes. I know he didn't make every Marvel hero, but Stan Lee had an incredible knack for making these larger than life heroes super relatable. Just look at Spider-Man, who's this huge nerdy dork, and then he gets bit by the spider, and he's still this nerdy dork but with cool powers
