Twitch Say Song

So I was streaming and the Twitch Say song function wasn't working. It wasn't posting the song titles or links in chat.

Hey, this is unfortunately a long going issue that is hard to resolve. Our devs are still looking into it, but unfortunately I do not have an ETA on the fix :/

If you still want people to see the song being played, I'd recommend setting up a window capture for the player. It's not exactly perfect but it's a decent temporary fix if that's what you're looking for. If it's too clunky, mcat doesn't have a policy about showing the song to the chat, so you won't get claimed for it if that's what you're concerned about :)

That wouldnt put it in chat tho and they have a widget already to show song information so you wouldnt need to use the window capture method just a browser source. (ref image below). Most likely he wants the same thing i do which is not to have to use the widget and people curious about what playing can just type !song.

I use both. I just prefer having the links available in chat so people can go check out the song playing.

So update: the autosay works fine, the !song command does not

Not sure if that's how it is normally, but the Monstercat account popped into stream as soon as someone did !song but it never fed the song
idk if that's normal behavior or a sign of progress in finally resolving the issue but 🤞

if you turn on autosay the bot will announce the songs, however the !song command doesnt function, so it is 1/2 way there monstercat joining the stream is a start lul.

It's so interesting that Autosay works but when prompted manually, it just shrugs it off and that the bot even registers that it was summoned by !song and enters chat but then just 😶

It’s related only in the fact that the 24/7 stream is the user the program uses to send and receive messages from. It’s more likely the bot fell asleep on the server side and nobody is in the office till January 3rd except Josh. Probably better to start a new thread if the error is still present next week since this thread is more about a bug where the song command displays a blank result rather than outputting nothing at all.

@inner turret I and a friend are also having same issue where !song isn't working and Bot hasn't joined the chat. Does it only work while a streamer is Live on Twitch? I've checked the connection and that link is good and the gold sub is current and active on both accounts. MrNY2Cali & TheOnlyRyann

I think it should work offline? But honestly not 100% sure on this

One of the more famous twitch bots ‘botismo’ is active 23/7 even though not streaming for a cumulative 72 hours. Plus you can chat while being offline, which is exactly what the twitch bot does, if I’m not wrong.

I will say the bot looks at the twitch’s host mcat player for the result, which if the streamer is offline, Twitch is very likely not receiving information of the streamer music player and may produce a blank result if any. I feel if you could see at any time what one particular user is listening to while offline could be an invasion of their privacy in some cases.

IIRC it's worked in the past offline, but I won't be able to test online for another few days as I'm out of town. I'm not getting any response from Monstercat, it's as though the bot is no longer joined on my channel.

Hey @inner turret seems like it broke again. myself and TheOnlyRyann both don't see the bot in our chats anymore. If this is a Twitch Oauth issue remember that they reset that key every so often now & like other local bots like phantombot they use an auto generating oauth system to keep the key active & updaed in their script.

It's not consistent. like right now that we are offline there is no Monstercat user listed in the chat. It came back for a day last week but then stopped again.

It's been functioning fine for me even when monstercat has been not showing in my viewer list. Just for giggles I tested while offline just now and it came through as expected.

@inner turret so it stopped working in theonlyryanns chat and no user appears , i haven’t checked my channel but it def not there offline, i haven’t gone live in awhile so it’s harder to check that status

my guess it’s the twitch api auth stuff that requires a rolling key every so often, but i’m just guessing. tuesday at 10am pacific is when twitch rolls out dev updates so always expect weird right after that especially on api side

doesn't seem like it TheOnlyRyann lis live now twitch.tv/theonlyryann but I don't see the bot in chat, and in my chatterino app I don't see a Join at anytime for the Monstercat bot.

I'll have him try a reboot of the connection and the turn the say song stuff on/off while he is offline to see if it works then
