#Migrating from UGOS photos

So, when I got started with my UGREEN NAS I used their Photos app to backup my iPhone pictures.

Then I learned about Immich, thought out was really cool and set out to set it up.

Part of that setup included copying the pictures from the UGOS’s Photos default location (some user folder in volume1) to a shared folder — I copied instead of moved in case anything happened.

My thinking with this folder was that if I decided to move off Immich then my images wouldn’t be in a format specific to Immich.

In my immich compose config I included a volume pointed at this shared folder and within Immic I created an external library pointing to this folder. Now I can see all my pictures. Great!

However, now on my iPhone the Immich app thinks none of my pictures are backed up lol aaaand I don’t know what to do without going through this whole backup process again. But that might not even be what I want because I think those will go into the upload directory

Yep, that’s how external libraries work

Do you think the only path forward is to re-do this backup?
