#Imported Dates Are Wrong

I am transfering photos from photoprison the imported dates are less than reliable. For some reason a large swath of photos were inappropriately assigned the date Feb 26, 2023. The files date was maintained in the file name so something like: $immich-server-fs/2023/02/20100603_1110022.mpeg <- so the correct date is June 3, 2010. Is there a programmatic way to fix this? Would refreshing the metadata help? Should I attempt to import again? Can I manually move the file on the filesystem and would immich understand?

Immich doesn't use the file name for date. It uses exif data in the photo. Your options are download the photos and fix the exif then reupload to or write a sidecar file next to the files and discover them with the discover sidecar job.

You should not manually move things in the file system. That will lead to problems .

I have never photo prism before. But yeah immich needs exif data or a sidecar file with correct metadata

in your opinion would it be easier to genreate the xmp data inplace or generate the xmp at the source and attempt a re-upload
