I am currently scanning my negatives, and editing them in NegativeLabPro within lightroom. When saving, the edits are non destructive, meaning they are saved on top or alongside the file. I am talking about raw DNG files, that are about 80MB in size per image. If I were to upload these images to immich, would immich be able to turn it into a positive with the metadata?

Immich supports DNG images, yes

Specifically Negative DNG images?

That’s up to libraw, but I assume so

What does that mean?

libraw is the raw image processing library we use that internally decodes and interprets the RAW image

Okay, so if I were to create a sidecar alongside my raw negative image, it should turn it into a positive

#

Well, be turned into, as it has the metadata to become a positive of course.

Hmmm, I’m not sure if it would use the sidecar file for that. We just give it the path to the image, so it may or may not check if there’s a sidecar file and use it

I know it uses embedded XMP data though
