#struggling to setup on mac!

hi! currently attempting to setup but i am struggling and would appreciate any help. i am on a 2018 macbook pro with an intel chip.

i have:

downloaded docker and created an account (do i need to download anything else besides the app?)
made a directory and wget the docker-compose.yml, .env, and hwaccel.yml files from github
changed the .env file with a custom username and password

however i am unable to connect to docker after running “docker compose up -d” with the error “cannot connect go the docker daemon”
