To cancel a ChatGPT subscription, the process depends on where you originally subscribed. Here's how to check and cancel across all platforms:
Step 1: Find Where You're Subscribed
Check each of these places to locate your active subscription:
- iOS (Apple App Store): Go to iPhone Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → look for ChatGPT
- Android (Google Play Store): Open Google Play Store → Menu > Subscriptions → look for ChatGPT
- Web (chatgpt.com): Log in → Settings → Account section → check for an active plan
Step 2: Cancel on the Correct Platform
If found on iOS:
- Go to Settings on your iPhone
- Tap your name → Subscriptions
- Tap ChatGPT
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm [cancel iOS subscription]
If found on Android (Google Play):
- Open the Google Play Store
- Make sure you're signed into the correct Google account
- Go to Menu > Subscriptions
- Select ChatGPT → tap Cancel subscription [cancel Android subscription]
If found on the web:
- Log into ChatGPT
- Click your profile icon → Settings
- Go to the Account tab → Manage → Cancel Subscription [cancel ChatGPT subscription]
Important notes:
- Uninstalling the app does not cancel your subscription.
- Deleting your OpenAI account does not cancel Apple App Store or Google Play subscriptions — you must cancel those directly through the respective store.
- Your subscription features will remain active until the end of the current paid billing period after cancellation.
