#Feature suggestion: Native app/connectors support inside Custom GPTs

It would be extremely useful if Custom GPTs could directly use user-approved apps/connectors such as Google Calendar, Google Drive, Dropbox, Gmail, Google Contacts, Outlook, SharePoint, Box, etc.

Custom GPTs can use Actions today, and ChatGPT is adding more app/connectors support, but the experience would be much stronger if a GPT builder could define optional app capabilities and each user could authorize them with granular scopes.

Example:

“This GPT can use Calendar, Drive, Dropbox and Contacts if the user enables them.”

Use cases:

  • Prepare meetings using Calendar + related Drive/Dropbox files.
  • Generate agendas, minutes, reports and follow-ups.
  • Find the latest project documents automatically.
  • Create or suggest calendar events and reminders.
  • Draft client emails using Contacts and project context.
  • Build role-specific assistants for construction, legal, sales, education, HR, compliance, finance, operations, etc.
  • Let enterprise teams publish governed GPTs connected to approved internal tools.
  • Create true project assistants that work from selected folders and real user context.

Important: access should be explicit, scoped, revocable and transparent. Sensitive actions like sending emails, deleting files or creating events should require confirmation. Admin controls and auditability would be essential for workspaces.

Ideally, GPTs should also be able to use both Actions and apps/connectors together.

This would make Custom GPTs much more useful as real workflow assistants, not just isolated chat experiences.

I agree this is a good idea for specialization
