OpenAI’s current Sora products and Sora 2 API are intentionally built with copyright and safety guardrails, and there’s no supported way to turn those off.

The video-generation docs explicitly state that:

  • “Copyrighted characters and copyrighted music will be rejected.”
  • “Real people—including public figures—cannot be generated.” [Video generation]

Sora’s broader content and distribution rules also prohibit content that may infringe on others’ intellectual property rights, and content that recreates the likeness of living public figures without consent. [Creating Sora content]

These restrictions are part of OpenAI’s policies and are not user-configurable. If you’d like them changed, the only available path is to send feedback to OpenAI (e.g., via the in‑product feedback tools or help center), but based on the current documentation there is no “no copyright filters” mode.
