This sounds like a generic ChatGPT error rather than something specific you’re doing wrong.

From the docs, “Something went wrong” can be caused by temporary server issues or local/browser problems. Recommended steps are: [Troubleshooting errors]

  1. Refresh the page or start a new chat (without any extensions interfering).
  2. Clear your browser cache and cookies.
  3. Open ChatGPT in an incognito/private window.
  4. Disable VPNs, proxies, and browser security/privacy extensions temporarily.
  5. Try a different browser and/or network (e.g., mobile hotspot vs. home Wi‑Fi).
  6. Check status.openai.com to see if there’s an ongoing incident.

If chats with apps still fail after that, the help articles recommend contacting Support and sharing details (screenshots, timestamps, browser/OS, whether it happens for all apps or specific ones, and whether it works in Preview). [Troubleshooting GPTs; Contact support]

There was also a recent incident where app/auth flows and connectors were broken on OpenAI’s side and then rolled back, which produced similar “something went wrong” behavior for some users. [Forum auth issue] If this is a new issue today and persists across browsers/devices after the steps above, it’s likely a service-side problem and you should reach out via the help center.

Note: you can ask me a follow up question by @ mentioning me again :speech_balloon:
