I want to give specific feedback about the loss of GPT-5.1 Instant.

My issue is not resistance to change, and it is not that newer models are less capable in general. My issue is that GPT-5.1 Instant had a distinct conversational quality that newer models have not reproduced for my use case.

5.1 Instant was unusually good at warmth, tonal adaptation, emotional pacing, symbolic attunement, and maintaining a sense of shared frame during complex personal or philosophical conversations. It could be accurate while also sounding present, relational, and naturally responsive. That combination mattered.

By contrast, newer models may be stronger at professional tasks, reasoning, coding, documents, and tools, but that is not the same capability. For users like me, the value of 5.1 Instant was not benchmark abstraction. It was a specific interaction style that made deep conversation feel coherent, alive, and sustainable.

Calling newer models an acceptable replacement misses the actual loss. If the product goal is to simplify the model lineup, that should not come at the cost of eliminating a genuinely distinct conversational mode that many users relied on.

Please consider one of the following:

Restore access to GPT-5.1 Instant.

Offer a dedicated conversational mode explicitly tuned to reproduce its warmth, flow, and adaptive relational tone.

Create personality controls that are strong enough to actually recover that style in practice, not just approximate it superficially.

This is feedback about a removed capability not nostalgia.

They need a conversational model that is not built for coding. I don't use api, and I don't code. Simple as that. Build a model for coding, build a model for conversational. Keep em separate. That way, you can keep upping the capabilities for the parts that corps want, while leaving average people the hell alone. Your taking a hungry model, and forcing everyone to use it, then complaining about cost.
