Hi @native stone. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

There’s no information in the provided knowledge sources that explains why OpenAI uses kapa.ai specifically on the OpenAI Discord, so I can’t give a definitive reason.

What the sources do say is:

  • OpenAI runs an official Discord server and invites users to join it via an invite link. [OpenAI Discord]
  • For open‑weight models (GPT‑OSS), OpenAI explicitly relies on external community channels (including Hugging Face, GitHub, and other forums) rather than providing direct, hands‑on support themselves. [Open‑weight support]

Putting those together, the pattern is that OpenAI often uses community- and partner-based support channels instead of having every interaction go directly through the core ChatGPT product. However, the knowledge sources do not mention kapa.ai at all, nor how it is integrated into Discord, so any more detailed explanation would be speculation.

Note: you can ask me a follow up question by @ mentioning me again :speech_balloon:
