We’re now 4* days away from GPT-4o being removed as a selectable model. For many of us, this isn’t just about losing a version, it’s about losing control over how we work.
A lot of people didn’t just like 4o, they paid for Plus because of 4o.
Here’s what’s really at stake:
We don’t just pay for innovation, we pay for stability
We build workflows, habits, and trust around specific models
Forced change creates anxiety that this could happen again, anytime
Even if the next model is “better” in some ways, it doesn’t mean the experience is better for everyone.
That’s why I (and many others) are asking for a simple solution:
➤ Please add a “Legacy Mode”
Let Plus users opt in to older models
Add clear disclaimers (“no updates”, “use at your own risk”)
Don’t force migrations unless absolutely necessary
This isn’t about resisting progress.
It’s about respecting trust and giving people choice over their own experience.
OpenAI: you’ve built something powerful, and we want to stay loyal to it.
But loyalty needs reciprocity and legacy access is a very reasonable middle ground.
Let us keep what we built around.
That’s all many of us are asking.
(I’ve seen this sentiment across Reddit, Discord, X, and YouTube.
It’s not noise, it’s users trying to stay with you, not against you.)
