You can download Sora videos in the browser, but there are some important limits and differences depending on which Sora you’re using and your account type.

From the docs:

  • On Sora 1 web (sora.openai.com / sora.chatgpt.com) you can open a generated video and use the download option to get an MP4 file. [Generating videos]
  • On the new Sora app / Sora 2, all exports currently include a visible moving watermark and C2PA metadata; ChatGPT Pro users can download some videos without a watermark (text-only generations, no public figures, no other people’s characters). [Creating videos]
  • For Sora 1 inside ChatGPT (the older “Sora on web” experience), only Plus/Business/Pro users have video access; Pro users can download without watermark, others get watermarked downloads. [Generating videos]

The knowledge sources don’t explain any specific bug where the download button is missing or broken, so if you:

  • are in a region where Sora isn’t available yet, or
  • don’t have a Plus/Business/Pro plan on the Sora 1 web experience, or
  • are hitting usage/feature limits in the Sora app,

you may simply not see the download option or only see watermarked downloads.
