Bug Report: Bug Report – Memory Update Fails for Procedural Instructions

`Steps to Reproduce`

1. Open ChatGPT.

2. Attempt to save a procedural instruction in long-term memory using bio.update with the text above.

3. Observe that the system returns an error and the instruction is not saved.

`Expected Result`

ChatGPT saves the instruction.

Any time I ask to see my saved anime lists, they are displayed neatly in numbered sections in all chat sessions.

`Actual Result`

The memory update fails with a system/tool error.

Factual data (like the anime lists themselves) saves successfully, but procedural instructions do not.

Description:
I am reporting a bug with the ChatGPT long-term memory system. I am attempting to save a procedural memory instruction that would allow ChatGPT to automatically format my saved anime lists in numbered sections whenever I request them, across all chat sessions. The memory update fails consistently.

Feature: ChatGPT long-term memory (bio.update)
Attempted Instruction:

"Always display the user’s saved anime lists in numbered sections (Watched, Unwatched, Art Style Iffy) when they ask."

Additional Context / Notes:

Tried multiple phrasings:

Original: "always do this in all chats"

Simplified: "Always display the user’s saved anime lists in numbered sections…"

Issue seems specific to procedural/“always-do-this” instructions; factual memory updates work fine.

Actual data like anime lists saves, but procedural instructions are consistently rejected.

Expected Outcome:

Procedural instructions should be accepted by the memory system.

ChatGPT should automatically format my lists in numbered sections when requested.

Impact:

Prevents automation of list formatting across chats.

Memory system functions for factual data but fails for procedural instructions.
