On Sora 2, “cameos” are now called characters. They let you put a realistic version of yourself (or other approved characters like pets or objects) into videos.
1. Create your own character (personal cameo)
- Open the Sora app and sign in.
- Go to your Profile.
- Choose Create character (you may also be prompted to do this during onboarding).
- Record a short video with audio of yourself (about 5 seconds), following the on‑screen instructions:
- Face centered, good lighting, no filters, quiet room.
- Move your head slowly, show different expressions, and clearly read the verification phrase. [Generating content with characters]

2. Use your character in a video
- In the Sora editor, start a new video (tap + and write your prompt or upload an image, subject to likeness rules). [Creating videos with Sora]
- In the prompt area, search for and tag your character by display name or type @handle where you want it to appear.

3. Create other kinds of characters (pets, objects, drawings)
- Open your Profile in the Sora app.
- Tap Create character.
- Choose an input:
- Upload a 3+ second clip,
- Use a Sora video, or
- Record a new clip (3–10 seconds).
- Keep the character clearly visible the whole time (eye‑level for pets, steady framing for objects/drawings).
