Proposal: Evolving ChatGPT into a Real-World Cognitive Agent for Research
Hi everyone,
I’d like to share an idea to enhance ChatGPT’s usefulness in scientific research.
Currently, ChatGPT can synthesize and connect concepts, but it cannot:
Observe real-world experiments
Track projects over time
Maintain persistent memory
I propose exploring a cognitive agent anchored in the real world, capable of:
Observing and analyzing experiments in real time
Maintaining long-term memory for projects
Suggesting supervised hypotheses and adjustments
Detecting subtle anomalies missed by human researchers
This wouldn’t give ChatGPT full autonomy or consciousness, but it could become a powerful research tool while remaining fully supervised.
