People use sora 2 to generate a anime scene or a anime battle but the problem is they sometimes got copyright restriction for everything even tho they don't use original anime characters like Goku, Saitama, vegeta, or may other original anime characters, they use fan made anime characters but yet they got copyright restriction for everything. Is this a issue or no?
#About copyright restrictions on sora 2

Hi @languid saffron. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.
The knowledge sources don’t describe this specific “anime-style but original characters” situation in detail, so I can’t say exactly how your individual prompts are being judged. I can, however, share what is documented.
For Sora 2 (and the Sora API), OpenAI’s guardrails explicitly block:
- “Copyrighted characters and copyrighted music”
- “Real people—including public figures” [Video guide]
Separately, OpenAI’s Sora content guidelines say they may remove or block content that “may infringe on the intellectual property rights of others.” [Creating Sora content]
What’s not clearly documented is how the system decides that a given anime-style character is “too close” to an existing copyrighted character or IP. The sources don’t provide thresholds, examples, or a way to appeal specific copyright blocks.
So:
- It is expected that Sora 2 will sometimes block content it “thinks” might infringe IP, even if you intended it as a fan‑made/original character.
- The knowledge sources do not say whether this behavior is considered a known issue vs. just conservative enforcement, nor do they describe a way to fine‑tune or relax it.
If you believe your content is being incorrectly blocked, the only documented path is to adjust your prompts to be more clearly original and non‑derivative, and/or contact OpenAI support or use the general content report/feedback channels so they can review and improve the moderation system over time.

@warm lichen I sometimes use anime characters that aren't original such as Oliver, violet, Lilith the white rose princess, Amanda. But sometimes I get copyright restriction for everything. And why people are complaining about this?
Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! :books:
The knowledge sources don’t mention those specific names (Oliver, Violet, Lilith the white rose princess, Amanda), so I can’t tell whether they’re known copyrighted characters or just your own creations. I can only explain how Sora’s system is documented to behave.
For Sora (including Sora 2), OpenAI’s guardrails say:
- The system will reject “copyrighted characters and copyrighted music.” [Video guide]
- Content “that may infringe on the intellectual property rights of others” can be blocked or removed. [Creating Sora content]
Because this is enforced by automated moderation, it can be conservative and sometimes over‑block. The docs don’t explain exactly how it decides a character is “too close” to an existing anime/IP, and they don’t list specific anime examples or give a way to whitelist particular names or designs.
That’s also why people complain: some users feel that Sora’s moderation is “kind of absurd” or overly restrictive when their prompts are blocked even though they believe they’re not violating policy. [Sora moderation forum]
So:
- It’s expected that you may sometimes see copyright restrictions even when you think the character is original or generic anime‑style.
- The knowledge sources don’t provide a precise fix beyond changing prompts to be clearly original and non‑derivative, or contacting OpenAI support/using feedback channels if you think the block is a mistake.

@warm lichen how can I generate a 25s anime scene? Do I have to buy a subscription? I'm on mobile tho
Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! :books:
You’re running into two separate limits: duration and where you’re using Sora.
1. Who can make 25s videos?
25‑second videos are only mentioned in the context of Sora 2 on the web with storyboards, for ChatGPT Pro users:
- Storyboards are “available first to ChatGPT Pro users” on sora.com.
- “ChatGPT Pro users can generate videos of 25 seconds on web with storyboard.” [Creating videos; Release notes]
So, based on the docs:
- 25s is not a general option in the mobile app UI.
- To do 25s, you need:
- ChatGPT Pro
- Accessing sora.com on the web, using storyboard mode
2. What can you do on mobile?
On the Sora app (iOS/Android):
- You can set 10s or 15s duration from the “Duration” setting. [Creating videos; Release notes]
- 25s is not listed as an option in the app.
So if you’re “on mobile” and only using the Sora app, the knowledge sources do not show a way to directly generate a 25‑second clip there, even with a paid plan.
3. Do you have to buy a subscription?
From the docs we have:
- 25s videos are tied specifically to ChatGPT Pro on web with storyboard. [Creating videos]
- The sources don’t say that Plus/Free users can get 25s via the app.
So, according to the available info:
- Yes, you’d need ChatGPT Pro and to use sora.com on the web (not just the mobile app) to make a 25s anime scene.
- On mobile app alone, you’re limited to 10s and 15s durations.
