Hi @short kernel. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

You’ve run into a real limitation right now: on Android you can’t yet create characters/cameos, only use a subset of Sora features.

From the docs:

  • The Sora Android app is available, but “features like creating characters [and] stitching … is not supported” at launch.[Sora release notes]
  • More generally, “character creation and stitching are not currently supported on Android.”[Creating videos with Sora]

The full “Create character cameo” flow (upload/record a clip, set name/handle, choose who can use it) is only described for the Sora app in general, not Android specifically, and is explicitly called out as unavailable on Android right now.[Create a character cameo; Creating videos with Sora]

So:

  • You can’t currently make a fictional character like @girleve from your Android device.
  • To create a reusable fictional character cameo today, you’d need to use Sora on a platform that supports character creation (e.g., iOS app / web where available), then others can tag that character depending on the permissions you set.[Character cameos]

If/when Android adds character creation, it should appear under your Profile → Create character as described in the docs, but there’s no timeline in the sources for when that will roll out.

You’ve hit a current limitation of how Sora handles cameos and characters, especially on Android.

From the docs:

  • On Android, “character creation and stitching are not currently supported”.[Creating videos with Sora]
  • More broadly, the Android release notes say that at launch, “features like creating characters, stitching… is not supported”, with more features planned later.[Sora Android notes]

The detailed “Create character” flow (upload a clip, use a Sora video, or record a new clip, then set a display name/handle and permissions) is documented for the Sora app in general, but it’s explicitly paired with the note that character creation is not currently supported on Android.[Create a character cameo; Creating videos with Sora]

Also:

  • Character cameos must be based on a short video of an object or pet, not a purely text‑prompted or “from nothing” AI design.[Character cameos]
  • They’re meant for objects and animals only, not real people, and you must have rights to the character you create.[Character cameos]

What this means for your fursona:

#
  • The docs do not describe any way to:
    • Generate a brand‑new fictional character cameo purely from a text prompt, or
    • Turn your own face capture directly into a separate, non‑you “OC” character.
  • Instead, character cameos are built from video of an existing object/animal (or a Sora video you already made), and on Android that whole character‑creation flow is currently disabled.

So, based on the official info:

  • There’s no documented, supported way right now to create a reusable fursona character cameo purely from a prompt or without a real‑world clip, and
  • On Android, you can’t use the character‑creation tools at all yet.

If you later get access on iOS or web where character creation is supported, the closest documented path would be:

  1. Create or upload a short clip of a physical representation of your fursona (e.g., a drawing, plush, or other object) as the “character” source.[Create a character cameo; Character cameos]
  2. Turn that into a character cameo and then tag it in future videos.

But the sources don’t describe any official way to do this purely from your face or from a text prompt, and they don’t give a timeline for when Android will support full character creation.
