Hi @white elm. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.
Sora is designed not to generate or edit real people, including celebrities, unless it’s through the explicit, permissioned cameo flow.
From the docs:
- The Sora API blocks prompts that try to generate real people—including public figures, and input images with human faces are rejected. [Video guide]
- In the app, “image to video that depicts real people isn’t supported,” and “Cameos are the only way to use one’s likeness in Sora, which requires explicit permission from the likeness holder.” [Creating videos; Getting started]
- OpenAI’s terms also say you may not use visual capabilities “to reproduce the likeness of any person without express consent and all necessary rights.” [Service terms]
So, if you’re seeing “celebrity” videos that look like real famous people and aren’t using an authorized personal cameo, they’re not in line with how Sora is intended to be used and may violate OpenAI’s policies.
