#Custom GPT actions not working with 5.1

Last week I finally got around to creating my own MCP server and custom GPT that leverages it. I have been playing with it for over a week with great success and slowly improving it.

Howeve since 5.1 came, I can't get my GPT to use the tool - it keeps telling me there is no tool / action available to it besides search, even when it is visible in the UI. Same thing happens when using the "Test" in the Custom GPT config UI - it shows the "Call the {URL} API with the {oprationID} operation" info box, but then tells me that it can't use a non-existant tool or call web APIs directly.

I tried re-adding the action and creating a new GPT from scratch but neither yielded different result.

I also tried public GPTs and some of them with custom actions have a similar issue - they tell me they have tools avaialbe, but when trying to call them tell me that tool is disabled / unavilable.

Anyone else having similar issue with GPTs on 5.1?

(I am using the Go subscription for reference, so I can't change the model to legacy ones)

My custom gpt is completely incompatible with 5.1. It just… doesn’t work. Period. I might as well be using a regular chat.

I set the “preferred model” (both 4o and 5 seem stable), and doing this at least keeps it from automatically reverting to 5.1 without me initially realizing.

But yeah. So far 5.1 seems to completely bypass custom got instructions.

Mine seems to work fine still. Just remember to keep your SSL up to date. If you touch anything in the Actions panel, make sure you're all resetting your Auth settings. It doesn't prompt you to do that each time you edit, it should, it's necessary.

My custom GPT was working completely fine till a few days ago on 5.0, which is completely broken in 5.1. No option to go back to 5.0.

No tool call/api call is working, which worked VERY fine last week :/

Morph, are you on Plus by any chance? It seems to be working for Plus and above.

I found and posted in a thread on community forums and it seems it is a bug - OpenAI support is interacting there, so fingers crossed!

It is available on Go. Additionally, this affected also public GPT when used by Free / Go users, so even a lot of "big names" had their GPT suddenly not working.

For the reference it has been patched a couple hours ago by OpenAI and works again.

None of my GPTs work as they should now they all operate exactly like normal Chat...
Useless to me now tbh

Hi all - I'm also in the "my custom GPTs were working perfectly until the cloudflare outage and now don't work at all" boat - has anyone found/heard of a work around or fix to the issue? Has anyone seen any communication from OpenAi about this?
