Hi @celest harness. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

Access to Sora 2 is currently invite-only and being rolled out gradually. To get invited, you should:

  1. Download the Sora iOS app or visit sora.com.
  2. Sign in with your OpenAI account (the same credentials you use for ChatGPT).
  3. Request to be notified when you receive access—there’s an option in the Sora app to do this. During the invite-only phase, you may also need to enter an invite code if you receive one.

It’s true that access is limited and invite codes are rare at this stage. However, requesting notification through the app is the official way to express interest and be considered for access as rollout expands. There’s no public information about alternative ways to get a code or increase your chances, and OpenAI has not announced any other official distribution channels for invites at this time Getting started with the Sora app.

If you don’t receive a notification right away, it’s simply due to the gradual rollout and high demand. Keep the app installed and watch for updates as OpenAI expands access.

Sora 2 is currently only available in the US and Canada. Although Sora 1 (the earlier web version) is available in all supported countries—including the UK and EU—the Sora app and Sora 2 are not yet available in those regions. This is why, even if you have an invite code, you see the message “Sora 2 not in EU or UK yet” when trying to access it from the UK or Slovenia (SI) Sora App and Sora 2 - Supported Countries Sora - Supported Countries.

The OpenAI website distinguishes between Sora 1 (web) and Sora 2/app availability, but this can be confusing. For now, Sora 2 and the Sora app are geo-restricted to the US and Canada, and OpenAI has not provided a timeline for expansion to the UK, EU, or Slovenia.
