Bug Report: “GPT-5 Thinking” → “Request expired” + crash on opening a Deep-Research thread
`Steps to Reproduce`
  1. Launch the iOS app, start a new chat, select GPT-5 Thinking.
    2. Submit any prompt (even trivial).
    3. Observe long “Thinking,” then “Request expired.”
    4. Open the Deep-Research conversation → app crashes instantly.
`Expected Result`

Known workarounds to force the app away from GPT-5 Thinking at the conversation level (not just per-session), or a way to hard-reset model selection defaults in iOS.

`Actual Result`

For several weeks, the ChatGPT iOS app has become effectively unusable for me. The UI sits on “GPT-5 Thinking” for a long time, then surfaces “Request expired.” In addition, opening one specific conversation (where I ran a long Deep Research session) now crashes the app instantly.

Reinstalled the app from scratch.
• Cleared cache/data; signed out/in.
• Full device reboot.
• Disabled VPN; tested multiple networks (Wi-Fi and cellular).
• Disabled Private Relay; tested alternative DNS.
