I recently started a 30-day trial of ChatGPT Business However, my workspace was deactivated today because of a pending invoice for $333 USD, which I believe was generated in error.

Here’s what happened:

I signed up for the trial less than 3 days ago.

The trial included 5 seats by default.

Without realizing it would end the trial, I added more users (a total of 9).

This seems to have triggered an automatic “true-up” charge and canceled my free trial.

I did not intend to upgrade to a paid plan, and I was under the impression the trial would remain free for 30 days. Could you please:

Cancel this invoice, since it was generated unintentionally during the trial.

Restore my workspace access under the original 5-seat free trial.

I really want to continue testing ChatGPT Business within the 30-day trial period before making any purchase decisions.

Hi @loud helm. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

I'm sorry, but the knowledge sources do not mention a 30-day free trial for ChatGPT Business. In fact, according to OpenAI's official documentation, there is currently no trial period offered for ChatGPT Business. Instead, OpenAI provides a flexible, month-to-month plan that allows you to try the service without a long-term commitment, but this is a paid subscription from the start and not a free trial Manage billing on the ChatGPT Business subscription plan.

Regarding billing, if you add more seats than your baseline (for example, increasing from 5 to 9 seats), the system will immediately issue a pro-rated invoice for the additional seats if you add 2x your baseline or 20 seats in a month, which can result in an instant "true-up" charge and reset your baseline seat count Manage billing on the ChatGPT Business subscription plan.

If your workspace was deactivated due to an outstanding invoice, only a workspace owner can reactivate it by paying the outstanding invoice. There is no information in the knowledge sources about canceling an invoice generated in this scenario or restoring a workspace to a trial state, as no trial is officially offered What happens if my Business workspace is deactivated due to an outstanding payment?.
