Bug Report: Adding to memory not working

`Steps to Reproduce`

Delete all memories.
Deactivate and reactivate memory.
Ask ChatGPT (normal chat, no project, no temp chat, no custom instruction) to remember something: "Remember I have a guinea pig called Pooky"

`Expected Result`

The memory is saved.
When checking memories a memory appears.
For example: "Has a guinea pig called Pooky"

`Actual Result`

No memory and the chat responds:
If you want me to remember this for future chats, turn on Memory (Settings → Personalization → Memory), then say “remember this summary” and I’ll store it.

I had one month ago the issue. Try adding smaller snippets with another model not 5.0. I managed to chunks with 4.0 because 5.0 was only making a placeholder

For me ChatGPT saves everything as memory wether asked for or not, it just does. This sucks so much...!

did it for me too before I made it clear this is a thing I don't want.
make a good custom instructions section using JSOn so you avoid model layer interèretation of only text

the memory does NOT automatically save . You must instruct the bot what to save. Using phrasing like: Save this to memory: text to save.
If you need the bot to remember something from another thread you can refer to the specific thread: Based on that or that fact in THREAD name thread...
Simply enabling Memory of thread refering does not actually do it like a human would remember memories.

I have the same thing. ChatGPT says that you need to enable memory. Although I always had memory enabled.

mine recalls all context of our interactions from every single chat channel with just one single word, even when i open a completely new chat

that is context and is the summ of important events not a detailed memory as some think the ai is suposed to recall. And context depends often on the temporary data regarding a session

I'm getting a similar issue today - no model is able to access or reference Memory or between chat memories

It would be nice to know if it is the system prompt or an account issue because the latter is probably easily fixable

Go to Settings -> Connectors -> Advanced. If Developer Mode is on, turn it off. Try again.
