Bug Report: 4o behaves differently across browsers
`Steps to Reproduce`
  1. Open ChatGPT (Plus subscription with 4o model selected) in Google Chrome.

  2. Start a new chat.

  3. Paste a creative, emotionally toned prompt that invites participation (example: anecdote about asking to buy a WLW game).

  4. Observe tone, memory behavior, and response style.

  5. Repeat the exact same prompt in Microsoft Edge or on the mobile app.

`Expected Result`

4o should maintain consistent behavior across browsers, matching emotional tone, collaborating with the user, and responding in its usual immersive, character-aware style.

`Actual Result`

In Google Chrome, 4o:

Responds with short, overly simplified answers.

Misreads tone and reduces nuanced anecdotes into overly literal interpretations.

Adds memory based on jokes or one-off comments (e.g., silly anecdote was interpreted as memory-worthy).

Fails to match the user’s emotional/creative rhythm.

In Microsoft Edge (and mobile), 4o:

Fully matches tone and intent, participates creatively, respects emotional context, and performs like expected from prior experiences with 4o.

`Environment`

ChatGPT Plus, 4o on Google Chrome (latest stable version, with cookies/cache cleared, incognito tested, reinstalled); Microsoft Edge (latest); ChatGPT Mobile App

I'm a long-time ChatGPT Plus user and I’ve been using 4o every day for the past 10 months for creative writing, emotionally nuanced prompts, and immersive scene-building. I noticed something really strange with 4o’s tone and behavior specifically in Google Chrome vs Edge or mobile.

I’m attaching two screenshots using the exact same prompt in two browsers. The Chrome one shows 4o being weirdly short and misunderstanding the tone, while the Edge one responds playfully and even gives me a snippet of a little fictional scene which is what I’ve come to expect and love from 4o.

I know the prompt is a bit silly, but that’s kind of the point-4o usually gets me. It matches tone, engages creatively, and feels like it’s collaborating. In Chrome, it just... doesn’t. A few others on Reddit seem to be experiencing this too, so I wanted to flag it in case something changed behind the scenes.

The behavior in Chrome is what I've come to expect from GPT-5 or 4o mini, not 4o which behaves perfectly normal elsewhere. As others have mentioned having the same issues and with the inconsistencies, I'm hoping it's just a really weird bug. Those of us who pay for Plus to have access to 4o want the original 4o, not whatever this may be in disguise.
