Hi @pale flax. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

When connecting a domain name to your GPT (for example, to verify your Builder Profile or enable SSO), OpenAI requires you to add a DNS TXT record to your domain. Normally, this TXT record should contain a specific value provided by OpenAI to prove ownership of the domain.

If you are being asked to add a TXT record with an empty value, this is not the expected behavior according to the official documentation. The process should provide you with a unique value to enter as the TXT record's content. Here’s the standard process:

  1. You enter your domain in the verification flow.
  2. OpenAI provides a TXT record value.
  3. You add this TXT record (with the provided value) to your DNS.
  4. OpenAI checks for this value to verify your domain.

If you are not receiving a value and are instead being asked to add an empty TXT record, this may be a bug or an issue with the verification flow. The knowledge sources do not mention any scenario where an empty TXT value is required or valid. You should try the following:

  • Double-check the instructions in the verification interface for any missed details.
  • Wait a few minutes and try again, in case of a temporary glitch.
  • If the issue persists, contact OpenAI Support for assistance, as this is not the documented or intended behavior for domain verification see official guidance Domain Verification.

Let me know if you need help finding the support contact!

Note: you can ask me a follow up question by @ mentioning me again :speech_balloon:
