Bug Report: edits send new message instead on android app
`Steps to Reproduce`

send a message, then edit the message to change it

`Expected Result`

editing a message works the way it normally does i.e. on web, edit the message instead of sending another message

`Actual Result`

the message looks like it was edited but chatgpt treats it like a subsequent message which is confirmed by then going to the website via browser or PC app.

`Environment`

android version 15, samsung galaxy s22 ultra, latest chatgpt (play store)

if i close the app and reopen it i can then see it's two separate messages, like so:

You're not alone bro I'm having this issue too, they haven't fixed it, they said it was 'intentional'

I'm not sure why that would be intentional. An edit should be an edit. The model should not have previous context before that edit, as it can cause issues.

I've been using the web app on both PC and mobile because of too many issues with the apps. Guess I'll keep doing that.

Just wait for the new update to roll out

This seems to be the same as this other issue that's been fixed and the fix is now rolling out:

Editing issue, original prompt/response redisplay

Give it some days for the change to roll out. That change may address the issue reported here.

Later next week, if the issue reported here is still here, explain the difference and let's see if this needs new attention.
