Hi @marsh perch. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

#

If you reach the message limit on your ChatGPT Plus account, you will need to wait for the limit to reset before you can send more messages. For Plus users, the current limit is 80 messages every 3 hours on GPT-4o and 40 messages every 3 hours on GPT-4. Unused messages do not accumulate, so after each 3-hour window, your message cap resets and you can send more messages. If you hit the limit, you should be able to use Plus again after the 3-hour window has passed — there is no need to wait until the next day or for the "+" button to turn gray; the reset is automatic based on the time window. If you are not seeing the "+" become gray, it may be because you have not yet reached the cap, or the interface may not always visually indicate the limit status for Plus itself, but you will be notified when you reach the message cap and cannot send more messages until the reset What is the message cap on ChatGPT Team? | Accessing GPT-4o with ChatGPT.

Since this is your first time as a Plus user, you may not have hit the cap yet, or you may not see a visual change in the "+" button. You will receive a notification when you reach your limit. After waiting 3 hours from when you hit the cap, your message limit will reset and you can continue using Plus features.

@empty cipher So that's hours count when I use my it or when I touch the limit>

Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! :books:

#

The 3-hour window for message limits on ChatGPT Plus starts counting from the moment you send your first message within that window—not when you hit the limit. For example, if you send your first message at 1:00 PM, your message cap (80 messages for GPT-4o) applies for the next 3 hours, until 4:00 PM. After 3 hours from your first message in that window, your limit resets, and you can send more messages What is the message cap on ChatGPT Team? | Accessing GPT-4o with ChatGPT.

So, the hours count from when you start using the model, not from when you reach the limit.

@empty cipher I have question. I just get out from my IP limit. Last night suddenly I get limit after a lot of use. As system say, I should wait for 3 hours. So I just fall a sleep. Now, why I get limit again even if I'm not do anything?

Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! :books:

#

I'm sorry, but the knowledge sources do not provide a detailed explanation for why you might still see a limit after waiting more than 3 hours without using your account. The documentation states that message caps for ChatGPT Plus reset every 3 hours from the time you start using the model within that window, and you should be able to send messages again after the reset What is the message cap on ChatGPT Team?Accessing GPT-4o with ChatGPT.

However, it does not mention any scenarios where the limit would persist after the reset period if you have not used the service. If you continue to experience this issue, it may be a temporary system error or an account-specific problem. In this case, the best course of action is to contact OpenAI support for further assistance.

#

Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! :books:

#

I'm sorry, but the knowledge sources do not provide a specific reason why you would still encounter a usage limit after waiting the required reset period and not using your account during that time. The documentation only states that message caps for ChatGPT Plus reset every 3 hours, but does not explain why a limit might persist beyond that window Accessing GPT-4o with ChatGPT. If this issue continues, it is recommended to contact OpenAI support for help.

@empty cipher Suddenly my workspace get deactived. What happen?

empty cipherBOT
#

Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! :books:

A Team workspace can be deactivated for several reasons:

  • Outstanding Payment: If the workspace owner fails to make a payment or cancels the subscription, the workspace may be deactivated after the end of the billing cycle. Owners can reactivate the workspace by paying any outstanding invoices What happens if a workspace has been deactivated? What happens if my Team workspace is deactivated due to an outstanding payment?.
  • Fraud, Abuse, or Policy Violation: The workspace may be deactivated sooner if there is fraud, abuse, or another violation of OpenAI’s terms.
  • Manual Cancellation: Workspace owners can also manually cancel the subscription, which will eventually lead to deactivation.

When a workspace is deactivated, users lose access to it, but the data remains intact. Only workspace owners can reactivate the workspace by resolving any outstanding issues. If you believe your workspace was deactivated in error, you should contact your workspace owner or OpenAI support for clarification What happens if a workspace has been deactivated?.

Yes, in most cases, workspace deactivation is related to actions or inactions by the workspace owner (the "leader"). For example, if the owner cancels the subscription or fails to pay an outstanding invoice, the workspace can be deactivated. Only workspace owners have the ability to reactivate the workspace by resolving payment issues or renewing the subscription What happens if a workspace has been deactivated?.

@empty cipher My data there safe? Or That just stay there, but get sycron to personal account?

#

Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! :books:

#

When your Team workspace is deactivated, your data (such as chats and files) remains safe and intact within the workspace, but you cannot access it until the workspace is reactivated by the owner. The data does not get automatically synchronized or transferred to your personal account. If you had previously merged your personal workspace into the Team workspace, you will not be able to recover your old personal data—your access will be limited to a new, empty personal workspace if you leave or are removed from the Team workspace What happens if a workspace has been deactivated? Can I migrate or merge my ChatGPT Free or Plus workspace over to my ChatGPT Team workspace?.

In summary:

  • Your data stays in the deactivated workspace and is not lost.
  • It does not get copied or synced to your personal account.
  • You regain access to your data only if the workspace is reactivated by the owner.

@empty cipher My old workspace in chatgpt already deactivated. You have idea how to get my memory there?

empty cipherBOT
#

Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! :books:

#

If your old Team workspace in ChatGPT is deactivated, your memories (and other data like chats and files) remain stored in the workspace, but you cannot access them until the workspace is reactivated by the owner. Deactivation does not delete your memories—they are preserved and will be available again if the workspace is reactivated. However, you cannot transfer or access those memories from your personal account while the workspace is deactivated Memory FAQ (Team Version)What happens if a workspace has been deactivated?.

If the workspace is permanently deleted (not just deactivated), all data—including memories—will be permanently lost and cannot be recovered.

In summary:

  • You cannot access your memories from a deactivated workspace.
  • If the workspace is reactivated by the owner, your memories will be restored and accessible again.
  • Memories are not synced or transferred to your personal account.

empty cipherBOT
#

Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! :books:

If your Team workspace is deactivated, there is no way for you to access or recover your memories or other data from that workspace until the workspace is reactivated by the owner. The knowledge sources do not mention any alternative method to retrieve your memories or data from a deactivated workspace, and they confirm that data is not transferred or synced to your personal account during deactivation. If the workspace is reactivated, your data will become accessible again. If the workspace is permanently deleted, all data—including memories—will be lost and cannot be recovered Memory FAQ (Team Version)What happens if a workspace has been deactivated?.

@empty cipher Different chatgpt and API. You have simple example of it?

empty cipherBOT
#

Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! :books:

#

Certainly! Here’s a simple comparison between ChatGPT (the web product) and the OpenAI API:

ChatGPT (Web Product):

  • You interact with ChatGPT through a website (like chatgpt.com).
  • No coding required—just type your question and get a response in the browser.
  • Used for chatting, writing, coding help, and more, directly in the ChatGPT interface.

OpenAI API:

  • Developers use the API to integrate OpenAI’s models into their own apps or services.
  • Requires coding—send requests to the API and receive responses programmatically.
  • Example in Python:
    from openai import OpenAI
    client = OpenAI(api_key="YOUR_API_KEY")
    response = client.chat.completions.create(
        model="gpt-4",
messages=[{"role": "user", "content": "Hello, who are you?"}]
    )
    print(response.choices[0].message.content)

How to format inputs to ChatGPT models

Summary:

  • ChatGPT is for direct, no-code interaction in a web interface.
  • API is for developers to build custom solutions and automate tasks using code.

@empty cipher I accident open chatgpt with VPN because I need access to a website who block my country. Now, My account get secured. How long I should wait?

empty cipherBOT
#

Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! :books:

#

If your ChatGPT account was temporarily secured or restricted due to accessing it with a VPN (which can appear as unusual or suspicious activity), the knowledge sources recommend the following steps:

  • Wait up to 1 hour before trying to log in again, as multiple failed or suspicious login attempts can trigger temporary restrictions.
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies.
  • Turn off your VPN and try logging in from your usual network.
  • If the issue persists after waiting and following these steps, try a different browser, device, or network, or use incognito/private browsing mode.

If you still cannot access your account after these steps and waiting, you should contact OpenAI support for further assistance Why can't I log in to ChatGPT?.

The knowledge sources do not specify an exact wait time beyond the recommended 1 hour for temporary restrictions.

@empty cipher If suddenly my chat answer it with short. That's mean already limit even if chatgpt not show the sign of it like symbol '+' become gray?

empty cipherBOT
#

Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! :books:

#

The knowledge sources do not mention that receiving shorter answers from ChatGPT is a sign that you have reached your usage limit. Limits are typically enforced by restricting your ability to send more messages, and you should receive a notification or see the model option grayed out when you hit the cap What is the message cap on ChatGPT Team?Accessing GPT-4o with ChatGPT. There is no information in the knowledge sources indicating that shorter responses are used as an indicator of hitting a limit. If you are not seeing any visual indication (like the "+" symbol becoming gray) or a notification, it is unlikely that shorter answers alone mean you have reached your limit.

Yes, you need to wait for 3 hours for your message limit to reset on ChatGPT Plus. You do not need to log out of your account—just leaving it and waiting (or going to sleep) is sufficient. @empty cipher Why my workspace in chatgpt always get deactived?

empty cipherBOT
#

Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! :books:

#

A ChatGPT Team workspace can be deactivated for several reasons, most commonly:

  • Missed or outstanding payment: If the workspace owner fails to pay or cancels the subscription, the workspace will be deactivated after the billing cycle ends. Owners can reactivate it by paying any outstanding invoices.
  • Fraud, abuse, or policy violations: The workspace may be deactivated sooner if there is suspected fraud, abuse, or a violation of OpenAI’s terms of service or usage policies.
  • Manual cancellation by the owner: If the owner cancels the subscription, the workspace will eventually be deactivated.

If your workspace is repeatedly deactivated, it is likely due to one of these reasons. Only workspace owners can resolve payment issues or reactivate the workspace. If you are not the owner, you may want to check with them for more details What happens if a workspace has been deactivated? What happens if my Team workspace is deactivated due to an outstanding payment?.

Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! :books:

Examples of fraud, abuse, or policy violations that can lead to a ChatGPT Team workspace being deactivated include:

  • Fraud: Activities such as using stolen payment methods, attempting to deceive OpenAI or other users, or providing false information.
  • Abuse: This includes generating harmful or unsafe content, harassment, scams, hate speech, spam, or using the service for deceptive activities.
  • Policy Violations: Violating OpenAI’s Usage Policies or Terms of Service, such as:
    • Sharing or misusing API keys or accounts.
    • Circumventing security or access restrictions.
    • Using the service for illegal, harmful, or abusive activities (e.g., nudity, child exploitation, violence, self-harm, or intellectual property violations).
    • Attempting to bypass safety systems or content restrictions.
    • Engaging in unauthorized automated activities like spam or phishing.

If a workspace is deactivated for these reasons, it is typically because OpenAI detected activity that violates these rules or terms Why Was My OpenAI Account Deactivated? What happens if a workspace has been deactivated?.
