#Extreme American Flag Bias

So I'm trying to generate pictures of Sci-Fi characters for my Traveller TTRPG campaign players to have a face representing the NPCs they're talking to. Everything went quite well until I got to a character described as "cocky, arrogant, overconfident, self-assured."

It puts an american flag on him. Every single time. I specified he doesn't wear a space suit. I specified not to include any real world insignias symbols or flags. I made him a non-human alien. I specified he isn't in a cockpit and even tried to have his portrait on planetside. I tried writing an explicit description of his outfit and all details. Removed all references to him working in aerospace at all.

The last one had THREE AMERICAN FLAG BADGES STACKED on his left shoulder.

How do I get it to stop strictly associating being a douche with being American? Other people can be that way too, and it's often an endearing characteristic if they're also good natured despite this flaw.

The last resort plan did not work BTW.

Like, the problem is that the setting this is meant for is post-america, post-earth, post-sol, and to a certain extent, post-human. Like, historic record of America in such a setting would be a footnote attached to the record of Earth as "one of many defunct political organizations previously based on the now uninhabitable Sol-III"

Hey! Have you tried using the "Select" tool to ask for the flags to be removed? If flags in that placement are so strong in the training data that they appear even when you don't mention their lack ("negative prompting"), then removing them with that extra step might be your best bet. See. I've been doing this through Chat GPT, ans have never actually directly used Dall-E. How would I go about using this?

Those screenshots are DALL·E on ChatGPT, just in my Android app! It's available on all platforms though.

#

Just click/tap on an image that DALL·E made, and you'll see the Select button

So, is that function available on PC? Or do I actually need to install another app to use this?

Available on all platforms, chatgpt.com and the Windows app included

#

On PC, the button is in the top-right after you open a DALL·E image on ChatGPT

#

To the left of the download icon.

Thats what I get when I tap on the image.

Ah, you'll have to switch to desktop mode if you're using the mobile browser version

#

Just in your browser options, should be in the three-dot menu.

OH MY GOD THANK YOU!!!

Woohoo! Glad that worked!! It is by far the best thing they've added to DALL-E since launch, in my opinion - I use it for "finishing touches" a lot
