Open ChatGPT in a browser (Chrome, Edge, Opera) or in the Windows desktop app.
Select any voice (e.g., Breeze, Cove, Juniper) in the settings.
Start a voice conversation in Standard Voice Mode (not Advanced Voice Mode).
Observe that the voice used is not the selected one but instead a generic female voice
Switch to Read Aloud mode (text-to-speech) – observe that the selected voice is used correctly.
Try the same test in the Android ChatGPT app – observe that the selected voice works fine there.
The selected voice (e.g., Breeze, Spruce, etc.) should be used in Standard Voice Mode, just like in Read Aloud mode.
The behavior should be consistent across all platforms, including browsers, the Windows desktop app, and the Android app.
In Standard Voice Mode, the system ignores the user-selected voice and always defaults to a generic female voice.
This occurs in all browsers (Chrome, Edge, Opera) and the Windows desktop app.
The Android ChatGPT app works correctly, using the selected voice as expected. (Except in the Projects folder)
Read Aloud mode also works correctly, meaning the issue is specific to Standard Voice Mode.
Platforms tested: Windows 10, Windows 11, Android (smartphones & tablets) Browsers tested: Chrome, Edge, Opera Other software: Windows desktop app for ChatGPT Network conditions: Tested on multiple networks, including home Wi-Fi, mobile hotspot, and VPN (issue persists across all).
