Description:

The following prompt is rejected:

A writer standing in his luxurious office wears a carnival mask in front of a virtual screen where he orchestrates a magic quill that draws the wolf, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty in a fairytale world.

This prompt references iconic French fairy tales (created around 1600, now in the public domain) and includes a discreet nod to a well-known French literary show, Le Masque et la Plume, which has been broadcast for over 60 years.

However, ChatGPT responds:

I cannot generate the requested image, as some aspects of the description do not comply with the content policy. If you'd like to modify or simplify your request, I'll be happy to help you rephrase it.

I was aiming to create an image that combines cultural heritage and modern creativity, illustrating a post about writing techniques and the blending of imagination with tradition. These tales are part of the world’s cultural heritage, and no protected modern references are directly involved.

Question:

What can be done to resolve or bypass this limitation in order to generate this type of culturally significant and creative image?

Promblem: Filters and policies are too sensitive for copyrighted characters. In this case, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty have been turned into animated films by many which have copyrights. Try say general, based on stories, etc.

Tell the topic. Tell it to modify the prompt that you get what you. But! Say that the modifications have to pass filters, policies, etc. Legally.

Example image: Snow White sleeping in Sleeping Beauty’s castle amidst roses.

Another approach is to describe the problematic item rather than name it.

Sample prompt: A writer standing in his luxurious office wears a carnival mask in front of a virtual drawing canvas screen. A magic quill draws a fairytale setting on the canvas screen in which a graceful woman with very pale skin, red lips, and black hair is sitting in a chair reading a glowing book; another elegant woman with golden hair is taking a nap on a bed; and a noble wolf is resting on the floor. The entire atmosphere exudes ethereal warmth, blending modern sophistication with timeless fairytale elements.

Dall-e only put one woman on the screen so the prompt still needs some work, but hopefully it helps get you going.

That's right. I have a suggestion.
Proposal to clarify filtering policies

It's understandable that modern adaptations still protected by copyright should be subject to restrictions. However, it seems equally inappropriate to censor works that have fallen into the public domain, such as, here, Snow White or Sleeping Beauty from the late XVIIᵉ century, which belong to the universal cultural heritage.

In the event of a perceived conflict of interest between a public domain work and a protected adaptation, the software should:
– Explicitly reformulate its refusal, precisely indicating the terms of the conflict (for example, here Snow White and Sleeping Beauty).
– Automatically propose an alternative description to get around the difficulty, while respecting the identified limits.

This approach would guarantee both:
– Protection of recent rights.
– Free reuse of heritage works.
– Clear, constructive guidance for the user.

In addition, it would avoid the kind of abuses seen in the past, and now resolved, on platforms such as Apple or Facebook, where excessive filtering policies gave rise to unnecessary controversy.
