#OpenAI and US military?

I recently read an article about an engineer who used GPT to control a rifle. I fully agree with OpenAI's decision to suspend his account, as such applications are highly concerning and dangerous.

However, I was shocked to learn that OpenAI has recently adjusted its policies to allow collaboration with the US military.

As a subscriber, I find this extremely troubling. While I support advancements in AI for peaceful purposes, I am strongly against any involvement in military applications, especially if there is potential for harm in armed conflicts. I do not want my subscription to indirectly fund such activities.

Could you please clarify OpenAI's stance on this matter? Specifically:

What safeguards are in place to ensure that AI is not used in ways that could harm people, especially in military contexts?

Does OpenAI have strict ethical guidelines to prevent the misuse of its technology in conflicts?

As a loyal customer, I value transparency and responsible use of AI. This issue is significant enough for me to reconsider my subscription if my concerns remain unaddressed.

I look forward to your response.

Hmm, I don't know enough to give you a confident answer yet. Based on the knowledge sources provided, there is no specific information regarding OpenAI's collaboration with the US military or any changes in policy related to military applications. However, OpenAI has established usage policies to ensure that its technology is used safely and responsibly. These policies include prohibitions against using OpenAI's services to harm others, develop or use weapons, or engage in activities that could significantly impair the safety, wellbeing, or rights of others.

For more detailed information, you might want to review OpenAI's Usage Policies and other related documents available on their website. If you have specific concerns, reaching out directly to OpenAI through their official channels might provide more clarity.
