When will o1 API access be granted to users?

Hi @stone field. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

The OpenAI o1 API access is being rolled out incrementally to users. According to the information available, developers who qualify for API usage Tier 3, 4, and 5 can access the o1-preview and o1-mini models. However, the rollout is progressive, and not all users may have immediate access. It is suggested to check the Playground to see if the o1 model is available for you, as this is an indication of access being granted. Additionally, OpenAI plans to expand access over the weeks following the launch.

For more details, you can refer to the OpenAI o1 models FAQ (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/9855712-openai-o1-models-faq-chatgpt-enterprise-and-edu) and the OpenAI o1 and new tools for developers (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/10271060-12-days-of-openai-release-updates#h_500f3bf299).

If you are a Tier 5 user and still do not have access, it might be due to the gradual rollout process. Keep an eye on official communications from OpenAI for updates on your access status.

the top of the page states: On Dec 5th, 2024, we announced OpenAI o1 (moving it out of preview), and rolling it out to Plus & Team users.

The new o1 version will rollout to Enterprise & Edu on Dec 12th, 2024.

It is now december 28th, 2024, and we are a tier 5 team user but still without o1 APi access @ruby hare

It seems that the rollout of the OpenAI o1 model to different user tiers, including Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu, was scheduled for December 2024. However, if you are a Tier 5 Team user and still do not have access to the o1 API as of December 28th, 2024, it might be due to the gradual rollout process that OpenAI is implementing.

Here are a few steps you can take:

  1. Check the Playground: Visit the OpenAI Playground (https://platform.openai.com/playground/chat?models=o1) to see if the o1 model is available for you. This is often the first indication of access being granted.

  2. Contact Support: If you still do not have access, consider reaching out to OpenAI support for clarification on your specific situation. They might be able to provide more detailed information regarding your account's access status.

  3. Stay Updated: Keep an eye on official communications from OpenAI, such as emails or announcements on their community forums, for updates on the rollout process.

For more information, you can refer to the OpenAI o1 models FAQ (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/9855712-openai-o1-models-faq-chatgpt-enterprise-and-edu) and the OpenAI o1 and new tools for developers (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/10271060-12-days-of-openai-release-updates#h_500f3bf299).

If you believe there is an error or oversight, contacting OpenAI support directly would be the best course of action.

Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! :books:

#

To view your organizational tier, you can follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your OpenAI account: Go to the OpenAI Platform (https://platform.openai.com/login) and log in with your credentials.

  2. Access Account Settings: Once logged in, navigate to your account settings. You can do this by clicking on your profile icon or name, usually located at the top-right corner of the page, and selecting "Settings" or "Account Settings" from the dropdown menu.

  3. View Usage Tier: In the account settings, look for the "Limits" section. This section will display your current usage tier and the associated rate limits. You can find this information under the Limits section (https://platform.openai.com/settings/organization/limits) of your account settings.

By following these steps, you should be able to view your current organizational tier and understand the rate limits associated with it. If you need further assistance, you can refer to the OpenAI documentation on rate limits and usage tiers (https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/rate-limits#usage-tiers).
