Am I allowed to use the audio output (Voice) for commercial usage? Through real time api, because I technically should own anything in the API.

Hi @hard fulcrum. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

Yes, you are allowed to use the audio output from the Realtime API for commercial usage. According to OpenAI's Enterprise Privacy (https://openai.com/enterprise-privacy/) policy, you retain all rights to the inputs you provide to OpenAI's services and you own any output you rightfully receive from their services to the extent permitted by law. This is also confirmed in the Realtime API documentation (https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/text-to-speech), which states that the person who created the outputted audio files owns the output.

However, there is a specific exception for the ChatGPT Voice Output feature. According to OpenAI's Service Terms (https://openai.com/policies/service-terms/), ChatGPT Voice Output is for non-commercial use only and may not be distributed or repackaged as a standalone audio recording or any other sound file. Any rights in Output assigned to you do not include ChatGPT Voice Output.

So, while you generally own the output from OpenAI's APIs, including the Realtime API, the use of ChatGPT Voice Output for commercial purposes is not permitted.
