#WARN WHEN APPROACHING CONVERSATION LIMIT

REQUEST: please let us know when we're approaching the maximum length of a conversation. I've been using a custom GPT as a roleplay aid for me and a number of friends for a month now, and suddenly out of nowhere I'm told "Maximum conversation length reached, start a new conversation."

This conversation has over 1 million words in over 1000 prompts over a month, and now I can't even get it to summarize what all happened to export it into a new conversation and have to do it by hand... I didn't even know there was a maximum length to conversations until suddenly in the middle of generating a response I get an error message...

This is unbelievably frustrating, and any product where long but not infinite conversations are possible should let you know that you only have 10,000, 50,000 or 100,000 words/tokens left so you can wrap up what you have and export it onto something else.

it's ridiculous , I didn't renewed my plus subscription and there's no indication on a conversation if it's with a custom gpt or not

Scroll all the way up to the top of the chat so that all your messages get loaded, do Ctrl - A to select every message, copy, then save it in a text file. Delete stuff like the message saying chat gpt can make mistakes and all that, send chat gpt the file asking it to vet and "clean" the file, ask it to remove "ChatGPT said:" (that phrase only) and "You said:" (the phrase and what you said), ask it to keep chapters only, and ask it to make sure its in order. After when it gives you the cleaned file, download it and then in a new custom gpt chat, upload the file and ask the gpt to read the file NATIVELY, and not via code. If it gets to 20 chapters up, keep asking it to read more chapters until your latest chapter, then continue your story from there.
