#Upgrade ChatGPT Plus to ChatGPT Team without being the Team administrator

Currently, I have a personal ChatGPT Plus account. My boss at work is planning to give my colleagues and me a ChatGPT Team subscription so we can have a shared workspace. However, I would like to upgrade my current ChatGPT Plus account to Team instead of having a new account with ChatGPT Team and another with Plus, which wouldn't be useful since I would stop paying for it if I already have the Team account. My question is, how can I upgrade without losing everything I have on my current account and without being the Team administrator?

To upgrade your personal ChatGPT Plus account to a ChatGPT Team account, you can follow these steps:

  1. Visit chatgpt.com and click on "Upgrade plan" above your profile or go to "My plan" within the chat menu. Choose to "Upgrade to Team" ^source^ (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/9038407-how-do-i-sign-up-for-chatgpt-team).

  2. Once you've upgraded to a Team account, you can merge your personal workspace (Free or Plus) into your Team workspace. This will migrate all data from your personal workspace to your Team workspace and delete your personal workspace after migration. If you're not the Team administrator, you won't be able to manage the billing information for the Team account.
