Please note that this is work in progress. Future version will be shared.

I've started my first serious AI art project. I want to make a picture of the great Czech Lion standing on a cliff and roaring loudly into distance. Czech Republic's coat of arms has 4 panels that has 3 creatures depicted in it, which are the Czech Lion (twice), and Moravian and Silesian Eagles. Czech Lion is what I'm focusing on. Small coat of arms has only the Czech Lion. It's a creature, not much different from a lion, that has a white fur and two tails. I'm not sure how the second tail got into the picture, but that's our symbol.

Since DALL-E probably doesn't know how the Czech Lion should look like, I've described it in the prompt:

Generate me an image of a white lion-like creature with two tails, standing upon a cliff and roaring into distance.

I'm a Free Tier user, can't afford Plus Tier, so I always have to wait with my next 2 generations per day each time. Also, my attachments collective size is limited, which makes it also more frustrating. That's not the point tho. I want to share with you my project from start to finish. I don't know how long it might take, but that's not important either.

Feature image might change as the project progresses and better and better versions may appear, until a final version I'm fully satisfied with emerges.
Note for admins and mods: The #1159409958052446228 don't specify if I'm allowed to make WIP threads or not, nor does it specify if I'm allowed to change featured image or not. So if you'd shine some light into this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

These are 1st two generations, left to right images. At the time of writing this post, featured image is the right image from 1st generation, which I simply like the most.

I'll point out some great stuff about it and why it's my favourite:

  • The fur is pure white, exactly what it should look like. Flowing and bushy mane, and a strong, loud and clear roar.
  • Love the shape of the tail, curved into a letter "S" kind of shape, long and fluffy at the end.
  • Muscles are highlighted and in strong shape, which should symbolize our nation's strong will.
  • The scenery is breathtaking. The canyon with river flowing down there, the daybreak with a rising sun on the horizon in the background, the mountainous landscape around... Beautiful.

Being it the first generation though, it does have some cons to it:

  • The second tail is detached, doesn't grow from the back of the lion, which it should. It looks like it fell off the lion and began to fade away from the stem.
  • Looks a bit thin, I don't know if I should ask for making him a bit more buff. I'm going for it though.
Other than that, this picture is perfect, it almost accurately captures my vision.

I've decided to copy the 1st generation right image and make some annotations to it, and that's the 1st attachment here. Blue line with the arrow points to where the second tail should be attached. Green curved line is where the second tail should be displayed, the general direction and shape of it.

On the 2nd attachment, you can see Czech Republic's official small coat of arms, where you can see what I am talking about.

I've hit a dead end with the new batch. DALL-E seems to have misunderstood my goal and interpreted the instructions wrong. Though I must admit that these images don't look particularily bad. I especially like the last two pictures, the 4th picture is probably better than the 3rd one.

Tomorrow, I'll try it a bit different. I'll get DALL-E to forget everything up to and including this point, and gaslight it into editing its own picture under the impression of being a Photoshop artist being tasked to edit the given picture. That picture for edit is still the original feature picture in this thread, and that's going to be the 1st attachment. Additional 2 attachments then will show annotations amendments to the original picture and a reference picture of the coat arms as seen above. Though I'm saving that winged lion, that looks fire!

Last two pictures are what I'm going to save. It's almost criminal to simply trash those ones just because it doesn't follow my original vision.

And I just realized I can't actually replace the featured image in the thread, it's actually not possible. So I've decided to rename it, and post updates in new threads going on. Those two bottom pictures (the last ones) above, I'm saving those and using them as a reference to another AI art project. Thanks to DALL-E screwing up I have another idea, thanks. 😄

Hit a dead end again:

Thank you for the detailed instructions. Since I can't directly edit images like a Photoshop artist would, I can guide you on how to achieve this using photo editing software or try generating a new image that follows the instructions closely.

Here's what you'll need to do in a photo editing tool like Photoshop:

  1. Remove the Stray Tail:
  • Use the clone stamp or healing brush tool to erase the stray tail that is crossed out in red in the second attachment. This will blend the area into the surrounding terrain.
  1. Keep the Existing Tail:
  • Ensure that the current tail (marked with a green line) remains intact. This is the correct positioning of one of the two tails.
  1. Add a Second Tail:
  • Use the pen or brush tool to create a second tail following the blue curved line annotation from the second attachment. Make sure this tail mirrors the style and flow of the existing tail, keeping it natural and cohesive.
  1. Enhance Muscle Definition:
  • To buff up the muscles, use the dodge and burn tools to accentuate the highlights and shadows on the lion’s body, especially around the shoulders, legs, and torso, for a stronger appearance.

Alternatively, I can generate a new image based on these instructions that includes both tails in the correct positioning and enhanced muscles. Let me know how you'd like to proceed!

I think I'm getting closer to my original vision. Still not there yet, but these recent images are actually really good.

So I'm marking this long thread as finished and unsuccessful. I've managed to reach the limits of DALL-E multiple times, where it even failed to generate any images twice, and once even failed to generate an entire response. These are the final images it came up with, marking a dead end and final attempt where I gave up. Sorry for anyone who was rooting for this to be successfully finished, but reaching the limits of AI where it fails to generate anything is a clear sign that this is the most I can get. I hoped for what I cannot have. Thanks for everyone who gave their stars.

This is the response to the failed generation:

It seems that the image generation didn't go through. Let's try again with the adjustments you've mentioned:

  • The lion should have the posture, roar, bushy mane, and muscle definition similar to the right image.
  • The tails should be attached and positioned naturally as in the left image, with no stray ends floating.
  • The background should be a beautiful scenery, as in the left image.
I'll generate the image again based on this description.

It seems there was an issue generating the image. If you'd like to try again or modify any details, please let me know, and I'll assist you further.
