Hello, how can I apply for GPT-4 access in the Finetuning interface? I do not see GPT-4 as an option in the dropdown list.

Hi @covert trout. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

Access to fine-tuning GPT-4 is currently available through an experimental access program. If you are an eligible developer, you can request access via the fine-tuning UI when creating a new fine-tuning job. However, it's important to note that fine-tuning GPT-4 is still in the experimental phase and requires more work to achieve meaningful improvements over the base model compared to the substantial gains achieved with GPT-3.5 fine-tuning source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/7127982-can-i-fine-tune-gpt-4).

If you are a researcher and need access to GPT-4 for academic purposes, you might want to consider applying for the Researcher Access Program source (https://community.openai.com/t/581249).

If you still don't see GPT-4 as an option in the dropdown list, it might be because it's not yet available for your account. As the quality and safety for GPT-4 fine-tuning improves, developers actively using GPT-3.5 fine-tuning will be presented with an option to apply to the GPT-4 program within their fine-tuning console source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/7127982-can-i-fine-tune-gpt-4).

Note: you can ask me a follow up question by @ mentioning me again :speech_balloon:
