Hi @grand gazelle. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

There could be several reasons why you're unable to upload files. One possibility is that you've reached the maximum number of files that can be uploaded per GPT. OpenAI allows up to 20 files to be uploaded per GPT for the lifetime of that GPT [source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8983703-how-many-files-can-i-upload-at-once-per-gpt)].

Another possibility is that you've exceeded your file storage quota. OpenAI currently supports a file storage quota of 100 GB of files per organization. If this quota is breached, you will see an error message indicating that you have exceeded your file storage quota [source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8724843-file-storage-quota-errors-for-api-users)].

There are also file size restrictions and usage caps per user and organization. For instance, all files uploaded to a GPT or a ChatGPT conversation have a hard limit of 512MB per file. All text and document files uploaded to a GPT or to a ChatGPT conversation are capped at 2M tokens per file. For images, there's a limit of 20MB per image. Each end-user is capped at 10GB and each organization is capped at 100GB [source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8983719-what-are-those-file-upload-size-restrictions)].

If you've exceeded any of these limits, you'll need to delete unused files or contact OpenAI support to increase your quota.
